Sun Song

Sun Song is a fragrance I picked up alongside Cactus Garden when I was grabbing some discontinued Louis Vuitton fragrances. Cactus Garden was a bit of a let down to me; not because it was a bad fragrance, but because the scent profile didn't really resonate with me. I'm hoping that Sun Song can be the redemption arc in this story. Let's get into it; Scent: The opening is citrusy, floral, and musky. There's only three notes listed; Citron, Orange Blossom, and Musk, and each one is easily noticeable. The strongest of the notes are the citron and orange blossom. The citron takes center stage with a bright, rindy, and dry citrus note. Think lemon, but drier and rindier. Following closely behind is the orange blossom with a distinct white floral tone tinged with the unmistakeable aroma of sweet and juicy orange. Lastly, the musk note rounds out the opening with a fresh, airy, and clean accord that reminds me a bit of clean laundry. The dry down is still citrusy, musky, and floral, and obviously the primary notes are still the same. The primary difference in the dry down is that the orange blossom has faded a bit to let the citron and musk be the strongest notes. The citron has the same accord from the opening, no change there. The musk has become more noticeable in the dry down with the same clean laundry accord. It reminds me a bit of the clean laundry accord I get from LV Meteore, just dialed back a bit. Lastly, the orange blossom is still giving white floral tones in the background but doesn't have the same orange note from the opening. Performance: Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is strong as well with an easily noticeable scent trail. After a few hours the projection was about 3 feet and the scent trail had died down a bit but was still noticeable. The fragrance became a skin scent around the 6-7 hour mark. When to wear: Sun Song is a spring/summer fragrance most suited for daytime wear. Versatility is high; this can be a casual or formal wearing fragrance, and would be appropriate for casual settings, office wear, or formal occasions. Since it's a daytime fragrance, this isn't what I would pick for a night out or a date night. Blind buy: If you like citrus forward fragrances with added musk, this is a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: Sun Song walked a fine line between unisex and feminine leaning, but in the end didn't stray quite far enough into the ladies zone for me to rule it out. The scent profile was surprisingly pleasant. On first spray I thought it would be too floral for me to enjoy, but the longer I had it on the more it grew on me. Performance wasn't as strong as some other LV's I've tried, but with it being such a fresh and citrusy scent profile I was happy with the 6-7 hours I got out of it. Versatility and mass appeal are high for this fragrance, helping to make up for the average performance. All things considered I think it's a great fragrance, but probably not something I'm going to pick up a full bottle of. If it were still being produced and priced the same as the other LV fragrances I would consider it, but with it being discontinued I can't justify spending the inflated amounts to grab it. Which is unfortunate because I don't have anything else like it in my collection. I'll just have to enjoy my decant sparingly. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 6/10

Bought a bottle of this one as I needed some happy orange blossom for my collection. Incredible, juicy, tart, sweet, happy, fizzy like cool lemonade. Longevity is very good on it. Sillage is 1,5-2meters and it projects like crazy for first 3-4 hours. I love using it and was dozing myself in it for the last week. Ended up getting a large size bottle just because it is too good. Don't expect it to be Mancera/Montale performance and cloyingness though. If you want Mancera, simply buy Mancera. Also there is no point of comparing back and forth, with what is the next closest dupe to it. I tried all tom fords and this is still different, more juicy and effervescent. And I still take this over all Fords and Neroli Bohemes on any given day. From what I can tell so far, playing with other samples of this house, the quality of the blend is their focal point. How it's done is stunning, how it wears is really good. This collection puts smile on your face and people around you. The only thing comes in mind is summer in a bottle when you try them. And also the more you wear it more it grows on you. Same as cactus garden. Really enjoying this new collection.

Easy, elemental, sun-warmed citrus. Sun Song is pure, bright, and lemony, with a gorgeously smooth undertone of warm, pulpy woodiness, like the soft rind of a freshly peeled orange. The orange blossom and musk very subtly soften the dominant zestiness of the citrus accord, like a gauzy filter dialed way down. It's a very minimalist fragrance, but I can't help but find it kind of sublime. It's natural, effortless, and deeply pleasurable in an almost visceral way: Sunlight glowing through a beach blanket as you shake it aloft. The low hum of your heat-soaked skin in the car on the way home. Standing in your comparatively dim kitchen with a dusting of beach sand still clinging to your feet, drinking cold water from an earthenware jug.

Sun Song is the absolute epitome of a simple fragrance done absolutely beautifully. Bright, tangy, musky, ever so slightly floral. (Ironically) when the sun hits your skin as you’re wearing this, it absolutely sings. Does this have a mind boggling complex scent profile? No. Does this shift dramatically on skin from opening to dry down? Not particularly. This fragrance doesn’t need to be any of that. It’s an incredible simplistic fragrance that seems timeless every time I throw it on. A true shame this one was discontinued.

Pure orange blossom of finest quality, with just a zest of lemon/yuzu. Fantastic intesity and longevity, way ahead of the TF or Chanel dedicated juices. The number one of the 3 L.A.'s, and to me #1 of the entire LV production (I have tried all and bought most of their juices)... never get tired of this one, soon ready for a second refill of 200 ml. How can they make such a great perfume, with so simple ingredients ? Pure Magic !
