Porthole

Masculine fruits-forward fragrance with a lot of hype behind it this summer. Worth it in my opinion if you can find it for a good price. I have honestly struggled all through my "journey" if we call it that, to really enjoy fruity fragrances - no citrus, but fruits/bowl of fruits for better description. While Porthole is not necessarily a basket full of various kinds of fruits, it does have a fruit-forward aroma, especially if you are really acquainted with the smell of passionfruit juice. Tinge sour, and when sweetened can cause this sensation that I pick up when smelling Porthole. After Pacific Chill and Limonata, both of which I own, I wasn't really looking for another one. A restock for Porthole happened and I went all in - knowing I had already tried a decant and through it was a bit overly synthetic, but given my past experiences with decants not really being super representative of the actual fragrance, I still did it. I was pretty skeptical with the called out resemblance with Limonata, and as soon as my bottle came in I tasted both side by side. VERY redundant in a small-medium collection (20-50 fragrances even). They perform similarly, but Limonata is the fleshier, more succulent fragrance. Porthole smells both more sour-salty and masculine by a small margin but really do fill out the same place in a collection. The profile is very attractive to me, and even easy to pull off year-round if you live somewhere that doesn't really get super cold. More fun than formal, I will keep both because I do see enough differences to have both in my 30 frag collection, because of the mango-forward versus this passionfruit-forward contrast - and because I found fruity fragrances that actually resonate with me. Most will likely just keep one or the other. 5-6 hours of performance with 1-2 hours of good projection. Presentation and all really give you what you paid for, which is a premium, and thankfully, unlike many fruity fragrances that smell like a scent for a house/hand cream, this really does smell like cologne/perfume/fragrance to apply on one's self. Not super nuanced/complex but rather linear with notes popping up more or less as it dries down, but distinguishingly Porthole (or could be mistaken for Limonata honestly by not having them side by side) all the way. Worth the hype to me.

Porthole Porthole is one of my favorite fragrances of all time. I am a Fall/Winter type of guy, but I have at least 6 summer/spring fragrances that will always be in my collection. Out of those 6, Porthole battles for the number 1 spot, going back and forth between 1st and 2nd. This fragrance opens with a blast of pineapple, passionfruit (though it’s a mid note), salt and what I assume to be iodine. The beauty of this fragrance lies in how unique it is. Fruity, citrusy, spicy and woody?!?! PORTHOLE IS A VIBE and a standout fragrance. It has personality, it’s bold, sweet, invigorating... it’s provocative, it gets the people going. As the fragrance begins to settle, the bergamot, though lite, begins to peek. It’s almost as if the bergamot and passionfruit switched places. The bergamot does not become prominent, but it is recognizable. The ginger and bergamot gives balance to the sweetness, while the white florals add a kiss of elegance. Porthole is a very versatile fragrance. It’s primarily a summer fragrance, but can be worn in late spring or early fall, night or day type of fragrance. It is date night, beach, movies... the only place I would not wear this is to the gym, maybe. The sillage and longevity are top notch for a summer frag. No fragrance is perfect, and I recognize that even some mass appealing fragrances will have people who don’t like it. This in my opinion is a safe blind buy “IF” it fits your scent profile. I'm going to provide some clarity here. Yes it's a very great tropical fragrance. Absolutely not is it the best smell out there. It perhaps might be the best tropical out there, but certainly not the best overall fragrance. Much better than god of fire. I think god of fire smells very artificial. Porthole smells much better in my opinion although they are similar. Pacific chill? They smell nothing alike. I love Pacific chill even though I don't have it. It's too expensive for what you get in my opinion. Just for the brand? Give me a break. There are thousands of fragrances that are of higher quality and are more luxurious. However. If I had to pick by smell only between pacific and port, I would pick pacific! Sorry to break it to you guys. All of this being said, I still think port is a very very good fragrance. If you are in the mood for a tropical that does not have any coconut in it, something that is bright and fresh without going aquatic or piña colada, this is the perfect fragrance. One of the reasons why this is so special is because of what I just said. It's not beachy or suntan lotion that includes coconut or vanilla or anything that may turn it into some kind of tropical dessert. It also does not contain anything aquatic even if they might suggest it. The name made me think it was going to go that way even though I read the notes and there was nothing there. So I was very surprised when I put it on and it was just bright tropical goodness. So I agree with everyone else that this is very good. But give me a break if it's the best fragrance out there. Like I said I might even prefer Pacific chill just because I like the combination a little bit better. But if you are looking for a beautiful pineapple passionfruit tropical but not citrusy or coconut, this is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend everyone try. Even my mother likes it and she doesn't like anything.

Creamy, salted passion fruit with a coconut base. A blockbuster summer beach baby, effortlessly fun, quintessentially bright, and guaranteed compliment getter. The owner of ZGO (a niche perfumery in San Francisco) recommended this out of the hundreds at his disposal, which speaks volumes as to how stand out from the crowd yet instantly crowd pleasing this gorgeous, slightly tart but beautifully smooth powerhouse is. It smelled amazing on him, and smells amazing on me, so is definitely unisex. Longevity and projection are fantastic for a fresh citrus, and the dry down is superbly salty. It also reminds me of Thai mango sticky rice (plus iodine) in the most delicious of ways. The ginger and white flowers add to the overall tropical vacation vibe, appearing here and there. I couldn't help but grab a full bottle, as this has the calgon-take-me-away magic power to transport you to Bali, bikini and all. What I think makes this so unique and deserving of its stellar rating is the smoothness of the composition. Usually salt, ginger and passionfruit all come with a sharp tinge that makes some noses scrunch - the perfumer here somehow managed to perfectly blend these tart sensations with rich coconut, caramel, clean musc and white woods to evoke an overall effect of softness and serenity. (My only gripe, and it's not really a gripe, is the bottle, which is a bit misleading, as it looks like it should contain a nautical sailing day cologne, which Porthole isn't. The bottle is a beautiful blue actually, but the contents inside give off a very different vibe.)

Man I'm in love with Porthole. I usually don't like salty notes, passionfruit, pineapple and caramel. Buying a decant of this was like a dare to me. When I got the small decant bottle, I could smell coconut which is not listed in the note breakdown and I really hate coconut. When I sprayed it on my wrist, I was quite amazed. It is really different than I thought. It was so good but I never thought about getting a bottle because the coconut base was prominent throughout the opening to the drydown. Today is the first time I fully wear this fragrance and my god it just checks everything I want in a fragrance. It has a salty topical vibe, feels like I'm in a deserted island staring at the sea while enjoying a fruit punch. The smell is really unique but at the same time still mass appealing. The coconut is not as strong as the first time I spray it. This time, the coconut is hiding in the background giving it depth and enough creaminess. The pineapple mixing with salt and passionfruit is heavenly. The performance is perfect for me, I want a fragrance that lasts a long time but don't project so heavily that it causes headache for other people. This is it. This is the fragrance I'm looking for, a hidden gem that challenges every belief I have about fragrance notes. I'm looking for this to be restocked in my country, and this is gonna be my favourite signature scent when I finally have it.

I think this perfume is a really smart combination of notes let me tell yo why: Most of the tropical fruity perfumes have one problem that is the heavy and sweet smell of the fruits. Most of the time when i test a tropical fragrance the problem with it is that it's to heavy to wear on hot seasons and let me tell you in italy it gets very hot... On the contrary this perfumer really knew what he was dooing... He mixed sea and woodsy notes with the sweet and tropical aspect of the fruits. The result ? Finally a tropical fragrance yo can wear in the hot season without choking. It seems something very easy to make but i wonder why nobody did it ??? FINALLY A TROPICAL FRAGRANCE THAT YOU CAN WEAR WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE !! Love also how well the tropical fruits mix with the salt and the woodsy undertones. the scent profile is described very well in the review done by Maxmiller so if you are interested in the note developing go look at that. I honestly feel that this fragrance merits much more attention then it got, very underrated gem. My only problem is with price, I would't put such high price... 280 bucks are too much. Far superior to Pacific Chill also much better performances Rating 9.7/10 (only because of the price and the simplistic formulation)

Wish I had found this tropical salty musk goodness at the beginning of the summer! Initially I was slightly disappointed because it reminded me of a body lotion, but after wearing a few days I find it addictive (which reminds me of why a full wearing or two is needed before forming an opinion). The fruit comes off like something tropical: honeydew melon and passion fruit, but don’t really get pineapple. There is a creamy facet that reminds me of coconut milk. And the dry down is definitely salty almost like clean sweat (not marine) which must be partly the ambroxan (which is usually how it comes off to my nose, especially on skin, but not everyone will smell it this way). I am going to run through this decant fast! I see reviews that projection is ‘strong’ but found it more moderate and fades to salty musk within a couple of hours on skin, longer on clothes. I happened to get Tales from Zanzibar at the same time and they are in the same tropical beach vibe but TFZ has a more recognizable guava note, more sharp musks, less salty. The sharp musks reminds me of Xerjoff freshies. Porthole is more round and less tart. Not sure which I prefer yet, but leaning towards Porthole for the smoothness.

This is the best fruity summer scent I’ve ever smelled! I’m gatekeeping this like never before. It lasts 7-8 hours on me, 2 hours of medium projection and a nice long-lasting sillage. Simply amazing, airy passionfruit all the way through with the perfect amount of caramel in the base. Oh and it’s perfectly unisex, not overly feminine at all. I had to get myself a bottle. And that’s the part when things got complicated... it’s not about the scent but the company itself. I wanted to pay with PayPal and it’s not configured right on their website. Clicking the checkout button gives an error. I’ve tried to reach them through 2 different email adresses of theirs and also on Instagram, they didn’t reply. They don’t have a phone number. It’s impossible to make contact with the company. In the end I had to pay with credit card and I wasn’t happy about it, because it cost me extra to transfer and exchange funds. Now I wonder if there’s a problem with their products, would they ever answer me? Hopefully I won’t have to find out. Man this stuff MAY be the best smelling scent of all time. I fucking love Pacific Chill, but not the opening much - I love the drydown. I dislike God of Fire, because of its nasty ass drydown - but I really like the opening. Porthole combines the best of both worlds, with an opening extremely similar to God of Fire. Honestly I, like most people, smell mainly mango. The drydown on the other hand, is very similar to Pacific Chill. Not identical, but incredibly similar. The reviews saying it's like a mix is very accurate, but not a mix of scents completely, it's like they had a child and it inherited the opening of GoF, and the drydown of Pacific Chill. Beautifully tropical, but doesn't go so sweet that it's cloying or sickly. The salt really helps balance it out, making it smell quite like a natural mango. The entire duration of the fragrance is extremely smooth and well blended. Man this stuff is absolutely AMAZING. Oh and longevity is phenomenal too, with overall good projection. INSTANT full bottle purchase. Now if you've ever seen any of my reviews before, you'd know I barely ever give 10/10s, but this one: 10/10

Happy summer time vibes. Beautiful pulpy realistic fruits with the slightly tart sweetness tempered by iodine and salt. Think just ripe freshly sliced fruit sprinkled with sea salt. This makes it perform really well in the heat where sweetness can be cloying. There’s nothing rotting or indolic here. It’s all natural and all fresh, almost chilled. There is an impressive almost creamy density to the scent as well, but it’s not at all sticky. While fruit dominates from beginning to end there is a green woodiness to stand in contrast. Think more freshly broken stems than timber or furniture. I’ve had Porthole for a couple of months now so have had plenty of time to get to know it, but I expect to like it even better in hotter weather. Something about it just screams summer, and indeed boating. Porthole is on the beginning of a hype cycle, but Loumari has really come through with a a very well made, mass appealing but still unique fragrance, and for that they deserve the praise.

Great scent, good performance. Has a nice creamy, salty smell which really helps savor the fruits, which are honestly pretty aromatic, not too dense and sweetly. Compared to Pacific Chill, this has some ginger and florals to brighten the fruit, but in a more creamy, salty way. Whereas Pacific Chill has a great minty, green take on similar fruity notes. Pacific Chill longevity is significantly worse, but similar in projection. On paper I would imaging I appreciate the green and minty take from Pacific Chill, but in practice I really like Porthole more. It has a nice balance, performs great, and while it's more linear compared to Pacific Chill, Porthole seems to have more depth to me. The entire family of these kinds of scents are annoyingly overpriced cause in the end they aren't too different from generic fruity shampoo smells. That being said, since this is 10-20% cheaper and performs much better than the LV, this is a much better bang for buck.

I read a lot about this fragrence and watched a lot of YouTube videos about it because I didn’t want to wait 2 weeks for a sample so it was a blind buy. Thes one smells fantastic. In the top you get a bit of salt but you can hardly smell it but you get a lot of pineapple and a hint of bergamot. In the drydown I get passionfruit and white blossom very clearly. In the back of the drydown I get wood and a touch of ginger. Just love this min linear perfume. Will get back with longevity and projection but this one is way sttonger on my skin than God of fire was. I liked God of fire and still do but I prefere Porthole every day of the week just because it has better projection and longevity on my skin. For the summer this is a 10/10. There can’t be a living soul that think this smell bad. Projection about an arm length. Longevity is 24 hours with 3-4 sprays or on clothes. Just love this frag.

If you've ever put salt on fruit to enhance the flavor that is exactly what this smells like. Salt on passion fruit with some subtle florals in the background. I compared a decant of this and pacific chill side by side, they are very similar and both very fruity but porthole has a salty character to it whereas pacific chill has a more subtle minty nuance. I also have decants of other popular fruity fragrances like zanzibar and ended up ordering a full bottle of porthole directly from Loumari for full price after really enjoying the decant. It has a dense profile but comes across fresh due to the salt. It feels like a refreshingly unique take on a popular DNA while still being very easy to wear and enjoy. I do think it is unisex but leans slightly masculine. The new bottle also has a fantastic pressurized atomizer.

No body odor smell at all. I find it fascinating how the human nose and perceive the most purest passion fruit accord ever procured as stinky body odor. That’s appalling to me. Anyways this is a 10/10 masterpiece and would certainly be a great option for those who don’t believe fragrances should ever cost more than x amount of dollars, to smell and see for themselves that top notch quality and authenticity is worth the splurge sometimes. A full size bottle of this in one’s collection certainly beats having 5-10 midrange designers that are trying to replicate the same thing albeit lower performance and quality. Totally safe and blind buy worthy imo. Pick this one up now, you won’t be dissatisfied!

Porthole is absolutely a premier warm weather fragrance. It has a really interesting fruity but not citrus forward profile with hints of marine as well. For me the split is like 90 percent fruity 10 percent marine, although this seems to vary person to person. For a summer scent I think the longevity is strong and the projection is pretty good as well. I wouldn't call it 100 percent certain blind buy safe, but you're probably safe if you have a general affinity for similar scents. Overall it's like a 9/10 scent as a whole. Pricey but with the unique profile and good performance it pays off that high price tag well. Would recommend

when it comes to marine/aquatic fragrances, i am their number one hater. can't stand the stuff. this, however, made me question my entire existence bc i fell in love as soon as i laid my nose on it. it does have that salty, aquatic touch yes, but it also has a light sweetness and a juicy fruitiness that is so satisfying it's feels like scratching an itch on your body that you can't quite reach. i mostly get pineapple but there is also a tartness from that passionfruit. undeniably a summer scent that will forever be on my roster. it's expensive but so, so worth it. ms chemardin, you really ate that up diva.

New bottle arrived yesterday. I’ve got the old bottle on one arm and the new bottle on the other arm. The scent. The appearance on the skin. The texture. The longevity. The sillage. To my nose (and eyes) all totally identical to the previous bottle design. My experience is that this has not been reformulated during its makeover, even though it does now say 76% concentration compared to its original 80% concentration. I still can’t distinguish a difference in scent nor performance. I know this has been a general concern, so I wanted to try and ease those concerns.

Truly what could you hate about this fragrance other than the price tag or hype? Does it smell amazing? YES! Is it expensive? YES! Is it decently hyped in the community? YES! And for great reason, it is an exceptional smell of sweet, juicy fruits carried by the coolness and air of an ocean breeze. That ocean breeze bears some resemblance to pacific chill for certain, but this came first and is much sweeter to my nose. We pay a price for the things we love, little or large, and to me it’s worth it this time around.

This has the same fruity base scent as Pacific Chill and God of Fire. While those two have other things going on, Porthole really doubles down hard on the tropical fruit aspect. This one is much stronger, cleaner and longer lasting. This is objectively a fantastic perfume, but it might be "to much" for some. It has a massive scent bubble and really fills the room, especially if you overspray. After having been unavailable for a while, it now seems to be back in production in a new bottle design.

I see people saying that this fragrance is a bit feminine and I can see why, but I personally think it strikes the perfect strike of unisex. Because it's not as feminine as something like delina, not as masculine as something like Alexandria 2. It's like a guy that isn't gay but was willing to suck a little cock to figure out what is true sexuality was; bold but sweet, lil salty. This last pretty long too. Passion fruit and pineapple and salty blah blah blah blah also. Try this out.
