All Good Things

I got solid version of this strange little thing. I will try to describe it as I feel it. For your information: there is glitter on the very top of the solid perfume, but it if possible to scrape it off. It is recommended that you don't put your nose into the container and sniff directly. It is quite longlasting as for a solid perfume (even up to 5 or 6 hours). Firstly the smell was unpleasant, it just smelled like whole burnt pine tree with its roots covered dirt. Rather unpleasant but complex. I hated it and wanted to threw away but I decided to give it a chance again and again and it was totally worth it. I fell in love. That dirty pine (juniper) on my skin starts to become so sweet and nostalgic after a few moments. The pine stays in the background nicely and introduces buckwheat honey (tonka?) with a little bit of burnt caramel (arnise?). Sadly I don't smell rose or citruses at all. Sweet but not really traditionally sweet, not like sugar or cotton candy. I think it could be worn by men, kinda unisex-y. As on me it smell better in autumn or winter time, when I am wearing a sweater and drinking tea as it develops better and shows it less sharp, sweeter side on warm skin. But there are still some days when I don't like it at all. I think it really needs good skin chemistry, proper temperature and weather and matching mood. So... All good things come to an end? or All good things come to those who wait?

All Good Things seems to be an attempt to blend two seldom-paired aromas. The first of which is a smoky, coniferous woodiness halfway between fir balsam and a campfire, and the second of which is a very sweet, slightly spiced gourmand sort of candy shop/patisserie aroma. Your enjoyment of this will depend on your appreciation of the aforementioned 2 aromas. What makes this interesting to me is it's boldness. If this wasn't as smoky and the woods weren't as strong, this would have just been a lackluster gourmand, and if the sugary sort of gourmand aspects were too muted, it would be a very run of the mill masculine woody fragrance. The fact that it is both exceptionally smoky/woodsy and exceptionally candied and edible makes this surprisingly bold, and almost a little challenging. Fans of sweet candy fragrances might feel a little dirty with the smoke, and the smoky wood fans might blush at the fact that they feel a little bit soft and fluffy in the rather edible dry down. Therein is sort of the greatness of All Good Things: it's willingness to be this weird, genial, startlingly unisex, boundary-blurring fragrance that's personality is entirely unique due to its dichotomous embrace of two contradicting elements. Whether or not this appeals to you, I think it is a hugely fun fragrance. Oh, and it performs fantastically. 8/10

Nostalgic and pleasing, All Good Things is likeable and easy to wear. A smooth experience, noticeable but not overbearing. It does match up to it's sleeve notes; stories of the ends of parties, the parting of ways. It is quite comforting despite the spicy and sharp notes. I like to wear this in the autumn, especially during the day. It suits the season well. It is a smell that invokes memories, autumn is quite a reflective season. All Good Things is mossy and leafy too. There is a sense of the outdoors about it. Not perhaps the great outdoors, huge wildernesses, forests or anything like that. Less scale and more civilised, the things we experience everyday. Again when I think about this scent I find it linking back to where memories are made. Like a walk through your hometown. A journey back home; footpaths, parkland; stone and brick. Interesting, inexpensive and universal enough to be worth having in you collection. You probably won't wear it all the time. But you'll always want some to hand. 9/10

If I had to give this perfume an image, or a story, it would be roasting marshmallows. But it isn't just the marshmallows and graham crackers, but the entire essence of the campground and the woods, from the juniper and cedar trees, to the spicy-smoky anise in the nighttime air from the campfire, to a hint of spicy black pepper from the dying embers, a tiny hint of diesel exhaust, the sweet tonka bean-marshmallows and graham crackers. The notes online also say citrus and rose, but these are barely detectable and just balance out the gourmand and smoke with a hint of freshness/fruitiness. The name of the scent is very fitting; it is evocative of good times not just in terms of its candy sweetness, but also due to its natural, raw notes and elements (real essential oils are used, at least in the solid version I got). The perfect ratio of gourmand to smoky-woods is just amazing, unisex, and thought-provoking.

A versatile masterpiece. With a changing contrast, All Good Things is sweet and bitter at the same time, enduringly. Be aware of the candy floss note in the "perfume" part (enhanced by tonka). I would underline its (relatively) steady longevity and sillage. One’s enjoyment will depend on the the appreciation of the unbroken candy floss sweetnes. I was about to give up on it a couple of months ago because of this, but when I started to use it again it made me feel like I'm an ancient Egypitian god - exuding immortality. I was going to buy a solid, too, but they're all glittered! When I first smelled this, I thought it was a bit too old or outdated for me. I blame that on the powdery scent that hits you right from the start. Almost violet like. And I'm not the biggest fan of poorly done powder scents. Luckily for me, this translates completely differently on my skin. I get the same campfire scent that I got from The Bug, but this one is different. I think what I smell the most might be the coumarin. That sweet, slightly herbaceous note familiar to tonka (also present). This feels warm, sweet, comforting. Just as much as I get campfire, I also sense sitting in front of a fireplace, wrapped in a warm blanket. It's winter and there's a lingering presence of cedar and juniper, with a light hint of anise wafting from another room. I tend to love juniper and cedar, so these help ground this fragrance for me. I don't find much rose or citrus on myself.

Lush fragrances are always interesting in that you really don’t get the same scent on every person—the oils blend with skin chemistry to create something unique to each individual. That being said, I really can’t wear a lot of their perfumes, as my skin has the tendency to pull one note and hammer it to death (this happens with a lot of other perfumes as well) resulting in disappointment. All Good Things was an exception and a pleasant surprise when I sampled it. It has a slight smokiness but I found it to be mainly a warm, creamy sandalwood with vanilla that was sexy, comforting, and intriguing all at the same time. I walked around all evening wondering what the beautiful, cozy scent was that I would occasionally notice wafting through the air and finally realized it was me!

What a lovely, quality product. The mix of bitter, sugared vanilla and smoked cedar is very forward and long-lasting. I detect a tiny bit of rose as well underneath it all, though it might be a stretch. The scent is overall on the heavier side but I wouldn't call it heady. I own the solid version of this perfume (and seems like they no longer carry the spray perfume at all, from what I can see from the LUSH website?) and I love it for its discrete projection and improved longevity. My skin amps vanilla notes like a champ, and it's quite difficult to keep it down with spray perfumes (looking at you, Un Bois Vanille). I wear perfumes to please myself, rather than to have everybody around me smell me from meters away, so it's perfect.

I am reviewing the solid perfume. I passed by the Lush store and tried this on my wrist. On the way home I could not stop sniffing my wrist and had to go back the next day to get this! This scent is so bizarre....but bizarre in a good way, as in "where did this come from??!!". Picture this: woods, cool October night, campfire, warm blanket, starry sky. It smells of all that....it is so unique and unusual....Woody category, sweet but not in a sickening way, as sweetness is diluted with a touch of smoke, and yes it has a "bite" (spice). When I used it the first time my mom said "what is that? it smells like ironed laundry". Yes, it definitely has that "clean" element, but in a very sophisticated way! Go and try!

i still have the solid version of this perfume & i'm running unfortunately low; i'm so sad this is discontinued! it's sweet & incensey; i get less of a cotton candy vibe & more of a roasted marshmallow vibe. the cedar is really nice - you kind of have to enjoy that herbal/woody/hippie kind of smell that permeates a lush to like this, but i haven't met a person yet who hasn't. it lingers on the skin a long time; i dab it behind my ears & on my wrists for work & it lasts most of the day without being headachey/overpowering. it would be really nice for this to get a rerelease because i haven't found another "natural" perfume i like as much as this one.

On me this very smoky, woody, and spicy. It has a piercing and strangely enjoyable opening of cedar and something like burnt rubber, and dries down to incense, woods, rose, and what smells like burnt caramel. This is a strong, complex scent that has various facets and shades throughout its wear time.I don’t pick up on much of the sweetness others have mentioned until around an hour in. It’s a strange one, and I’m still trying to get my grips on it, but it’s oddly compelling. Edit: It took some time, but this has really grown on me, so much so that I picked up a backup bottle. It's a wonderfully comforting sweet-smoky scent.

This perfume holds such a special place in my heart. It was originally marketed as kind of a goodbye / breakup kind of perfume. Like the bittersweet feeling of a goodbye. It was marketed as “a sweet, boozy stumble down a basement staircase in a cloud of candy floss and black pepper.” This perfume smells sweet and smoky. It definitely evokes a bittersweet type of scent. I wore this perfume during a break up, so I suppose the description of the scent was quite fitting. I know it’s discontinued now, but this fragrance will most definitely be missed. Jazz Club by Maison Margiela is definitely the best dupe I can recommend.

This is the absolute god of gourmand fragrances for me. It's a crisp toffee apple, a Halloween bonfire, a carnival with the scent of gunpowder and candyfloss heavy in the air. It's filled with both a childlike sweetness and the intense darkness of a cold night in late autumn. Lush fragrances are controversial, but I'm not being facetious when I say Lush introduced me to the concept of fragrance as art. The hits (this one, Rentless, Breath of God) are more than enough to justify the (arguably more numerous) misses. I never want to go into autumn without a bottle of All Good Things

A lot of Lush scents I really cannot bear, but when I find one I love, I love it with all my heart. This one is a real rogue in my collection, but so strangely addictive. The burnt rubber tyres in the opening may put some people off, but I am totally drawn in by it. This then quickly gives way to spiced sugar and buttery woods. It really feels like you are drinking a hot, salted caramel latte next to a smokey bonfire in a remote wooded area, with all your favourite people around you in a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. I declare it to be the perfect scent for the whole of November.

The solid one, with the super fine golden glitter on top... it was divine for using on the hair... (the one that was a burnt orange colored easily melting wax... before reformulation). I adored it, and I really miss the fragrance. It was gorgeous, and sweet and peppery...deep, but happy, but dark, but sunny...reminded me of that first moment you enter a cool, shaded room after being under the August noon sun. And it lasted forever. Lush described it perfectly "A sweet, boozy stumble down a dark basement staircase will leave you in a blissed cloud of candyfloss and cedarwood."

This is a strange yet beautiful fragrance. The fragrance begins with a heavy blast of cade mixing with tonka and rose to create this surprisingly realistic cotton candy and smoke accord that is beautiful. At times it almost smells like Etat Libre D'Orange's Tom of Finland. As the fragrance mellows you're left with the sweet tonka and rose accord and cedar wood. I was worried that the fragrance would be extremely feminine but the smoke and wood elements keep it very unisex. Good longevity and has a great throw. Overall this is a great launch from the Gorilla Perfumes line.

It really lives up to the name, as this wonderful creation contains all the good things I love in a fragrance. Though I got told this smells like the inside of a chapel, I'm enamored with this scent. I'm surprised smoke is not mentioned as an accord - I can definitely smell it in the opening. It starts out very heavy, but after like an hour it becomes a calming, aromatic, woodsy goodness, with hints of rose and citrus. I'm devastated it got discontinoued, but I was lucky to buy two bottles second hand.

"All Good Things" has been a definite favourite of mine for several years now, and it always seems to attract positive comments. This is partly because it is so unusual I think. I really like the strong contrasts within it,in particular between the quite harsh burnt wood/ashy element and the popcorn/vanillary caramel side. Like most Lush fragrances it lasts well. It sounds like it shouldn't really work, and although it will definitely not be everyone's cup of tea, it certainly is mine! :)

The incense or myrrh lasts all the way through this extraordinary sweet woody floral. 5 of my favourite notes in here so how could I go wrong. I love the smokiness and spice. There is something about this which made me think of Etat Libre Oranger Tilda Swinton Like This. I think it's the sweet spicey fruitiness. I have to almost concentrate to detect the rose but it is there. It adds a softness and almost fruitiness. Very unisex and a new love for me. Moderate sillage and longevity.

I was searching for the perfect Lush scent for fall... I found it. This works very well on my skin. I would describe it as a smokey and woody vanilla. This as something of Vanillary, or also Snow fairy, but also with dark, more mature note (as anise, juniper and wood), that make the fragrance more complex. The base is well rounded, cozy... For me, a perfect vanilla for fall's months!!! P. S. : I would say it's somehow similar to Ciara Revlon, but sweeter and cozyer.
