The President's Hat

I did smell it at the launch and this is the one I instantly fell in love with. As for the notes, I smelled vanilla, labdanum, tons of oakmoss, spices, myrrh, some anise, and maybe tonka beans. The President's Hat is intensely resinous, balsamic, warm and smokey - a wonderfully comforting fragrance. The most striking quality of this perfume to me is that it has a very similar vibe to some vintage gems by Guerlain. Not necessarily the notes, rather it has the same "plush dark empty space" feel to it as Vol de Nuit for instance. It also has a dusty, lived in, almost dirty note, indeed as melting city snow on a winter coat (or hat, for that matter). It probably comes from patchouli, hence it is not human dirt, but earthy. I sprayed both my arms and I could smell it all day long, so both longevity and sillage are very good. I can't wait to go back to London and purchase it. Five stars from me! UPDATE: Which I did today (14/08) and LOVE it!!! 22/8 I am falling more and more in love with this little gem. In fact, it is more "related" to Mitsouko than VdN...for some reason this similee jumped into my mind one day: if Mitsouko is Karen Blixen from the movie "Out of Africa", then Denys Finch-Hatton is The President's Hat. I don't know if this makes any sense to anyone else than myself...:-)

Bu markanın parfumlere verdiği isimleri çok seviyorum. Parfumor yada pazarlama ekibinin bir deneyim, anı-hatıra, benzerlik üzerinden kurguladigini düşündüğüm bu isimler aslinda parfumleri yansıtıyor. The Presidents Hat, bence burada yazılan notalardan ibaret değil. Lavanta ağırlıklı bir losyon kullanan yaşlı bir siyasetçinin henüz kirlenmemiş temiz kumaş kokan şapka ile bu şekilde kokabilecegini düşünüyorum. Dedemin şapkaları biraz gül, biraz kumaş biraz da arko traş keremi kokardı. TPH klasik bir kıyafet içindeki 40-50 yaşlarındaki erkeğe yakisacaktir. Etrafa biraz eski-klasik havası verebilir ama kalitesi ile sorunsuz bir kullanım sağlar. Bu markanın tüm parfümleri ortalama kalıcılık ve koku dağılımına sahip. Zayıf değil, güçlü değil. Aslında biraz daha yoğun olması fena olmazdı. Bu marka Turkiye'de tutunamadı. Biraz fiyatlar biraz da genel beğeni peşindeki kitleyi çekemedi. Bunu zaten beklemezdim. Halen gidip bir çuval parayı saçma sapan "ünlü markalara" veren kitlenin bu parfümleri anlaması zor. Eğer yurtdisinda bir mağazasına denk gelirseniz " Smuggler's Soul" parfumunu de mutlaka deneyin. En popüler ürün Karma ama o da bana çok sıradan geliyor.

Such a shame they discontinued this, it’s my holy grail. Fragrantica has got the notes wrong, it’s a very natural patchouli fragrance with lots of oakmoss, a leathery labdanum note and a very prominent myrrh with sweetness from vanilla and some background spice and smoke. For me it’s the perfect autumn and winter scent, it’s earthy and outdoorsy but equally cosy and warm.

Very nice woody, myrrh and patchouli scent. Also some spicy anise ... and some floral geraniol. Opening is quite smoky, but the drydown is not, much more floral and a lot fresher (limonene?), after a few hours woody notes evolve a lot and get more and more prominent. Very pleasant! 87

Fragrantica notes listed above are not representative of the fragrance. This is a very spicy fragrance above all, with a certain tar like pungentness dominating and a bit of smokeyness in the periphery. Very warming and a bit raw. I don’t find it masculine at all, its more genderless if anything. Just enough sweetness (hint of vanilla) in the background to be able to handle the strong spice. I get cloves more than anything else, even though its not listed on the notes. Myrrh also which is always wonderful. Its surprisingly comfortable to wear considering how spicy it is. It somehow reminds me a bit of Fendi’s original Fendi, which would be a more commercial / synthetic version of the same idea. This is the fragrance equivalent of a thick wool coat in the winter, a little raw but ah so warm.
