This is so good and does smell exactly like parma violets! At first, it is very heavy and has a very 'vintage' profile - kind of reminded me of Prada Candy. The longevity is excellent (a good 7-8 hours on my skin and eternal on clothes) and the longer it sits, the more sweet and custardy it becomes. At the outset, this almost feels witchy but develops into a delicious candy-like gourmand and eventually becomes a sticky-sweet vanilla. I absolutely love this and the projection is great too, totally worth purchasing if you want to smell like parma violets (but I'd probably recommend trialling first, because some reviews indicate it changes a lot depending on your skin chemistry.)

It's wierd and I love it. Totally natural, so even better! Smells like a rainy day, with a teenage goth girl holding an umbrella in one hand and a cupcake in the other. It's sad and sweet and grim and fresh all at the same time. Wet dew, grass, a bit of car exhaust, decaying leaves....it's a city street that takes you to a sweet garden in the spring eventually. The heart is springtime and rain. It then gets really sweet and vanillic, like the violet pixies dancing around got hungry and sat down for a picnic. This is what witches wear. I layer it with Vanille Banane by Comptoir Sud Pacifique? Amazing. Banana and violet is a strangely delectable combination

I bought a small 5 vial set from Lush and this was included- I love a good powdery velvet, and didn't know what to expect.. Wow it's amazing on me! It reminds me of old powdery makeup scents, slightly sweet. I have tried DS Durga Salem Gothic in the past and honestly, V perfume is what I thought Salem Gothic would be (and yet I had no clue that they would even be similar!). I remember Salem Gothic started out smelling like V, but then turned a bit green and sour on me, where with the V perfume it stays smelling like a soft powdery violet with a hint of darkness to it.

The dry down on me is heavenly. Sweet candied violets. It lasts quite a lone time. 8+ hours on my skin, even longer on clothes- days and days later. The initial spray is quite spicy and woody, which is interesting with the delicate, sweet, powdery violet underneath. Once the spicy goes away (hour or two) I’m left with the sweet powdered violets. One of my favorite perfumes of all time. Another being insolence by Guerlain. I’m a violet lover through and through.

Very woody and Earthy upon the initial spray, but as others have said below once the scent settles it gives sweet and powdery violet with a hint of spice. I can see why someone said it smells like Dr. Pepper lol, on my skin it smells like a creamy soda that has gone flat after being left out. It's lovely. I love the journey from cedar to violet and the scent lasts.

Good for autumn 🍂 winter time season very much reminds me of snow fairy scent ( bath 🛀 shower gel and dusting powder) It makes me think of lush store when you smell the scent miles away when you shopping 🛍 inside mall and nearly going inside store ) If you want to smell like whole lush store then get this one the dry one it’s beautiful & reminds you of that ....

The dry down on this is elite. On my skin its sooooooo clove-y and creamy. I get a burst of violet and it then is secondary as a lightness to the heavy clove. Violet usually reads as pure soap on my skin...but this time it was just good :)

In comparison to Kerbside Violet (which I love), this violet is softer, sweeter, and doesn't have the same longevity. I'd describe it as a lovely daytime violet. Kerbside is more bracing and in your face. Love both.

Super niche violet + clove combo with ylang-ylang doing its thing. From the first whiff I was mesmerized and entranced. The entire composition on the right skin chemistry gives this a unique 'posh goth' vibe.

On first spray I was unsure. But my goodness, the dry down is phenomenal! I was a huge fan of Tuca Tuca, this us quite similar but less syrupy and more green.

I’ve owned this fragrance for about 6 months now...& I’ve really struggled with wanting to wear it. As others have said, it’s very woody, spicy & smoky...and honestly, it’s pretty hard for me to get through all that to the preferable & really nice dry down phase, so I find myself not reaching for it. Then, I discovered that people think it smells like Dr Pepper (ok, yeah, I can see that), so I thought of layering it with KayAli Vanilla 28 because I think that smells like cream soda. I was simplistically thinking that Dr Pepper & cream soda would probably taste good together, so why wouldn’t the scents be good together...? lol Well, I discovered a layering combo that’s really amazing. I mean — holy crapola! It’s so good. You get the same opening V scent with the strong violet & all the strong wood, spices & smoke still present, but it’s sweeter & way less harsh. V becomes nicely tempered with the sweet, amber, vanilla & musk notes added. And with the wood, spices & smoke having not faded yet, they’re still front & center, and keep the extra sweetness from the Vanilla 28 from turning it into a juvenile-worthy, cloying candied violet scent. It still wears like a complex grown-up’s perfume. It’s absolutely beautiful throughout for me now. I wish it had been designed by Lush to smell this way from the beginning. No harsh opening phase to be gotten through anymore and the dry down is better too — rich and vanillic while still showcasing the soft violet. I love it!

I honestly wish this was something I could wear confidently without feeling overall feminine, because it has been one of my first introductions to violet (more properly, technically so. ive had others, but they usually clouded out it so much you couldn't tell it was there.) and it's so enjoyable. it lasts quite long even despise me only spraying once, even through a quick shower i had to take. i can definitely get the sort of "goth" vibe people are expressing here, i honestly can see this as a unisex sort of soft gothic scent. if you layered/paired it with something more dirtier (i.e. animalics, soil, mud, dusty notes....) i think you could really go somewhere! though of course it's amazing on its own.

After a dark beginning and a few cedar shavings, the violet comes into play. A noisy violet, like a happy purple candy. The alliance between these two dominant notes then is unstable. They heckle without being able to land and find their gothic balance. Too childish to scare, too dark to charm, the scent is provocative enough to attract attention. This is often the case with Lush, especially for the latest perfumes created (and whose prices are quite high). If V were a character, it would be a teenage girl with too much khôl makeup on her face, trying to hide the child she still is.

There is a difference in V between batches. I smelled a gorgeous violet heavy V in the shop which made me think of old lipstick and flowers in a vintage leather bag and despite initially not been that attracted to the scent it kept bothering me, in a good way. So I purchased it but sadly got a more clove heavy bottle which drowns out the lipsticky violet a little too much. Still, an intriguing, a bit gothic, a bit musty but interesting perfume that I like to wear. Great, sultry in the dark time of the year.

For the first hour, V strongly reminds me of Earl Grey tea. After that, it becomes much sweeter and warmer. Ylang-ylang is very prominent. Overall, the fragrance is very distinctive, and I don’t think I know anything similar (I definitely don’t see any similarity to Insolence). It’s not a safe blind buy, but you might like it if you're into unconventional sweet scents.The longevity is great.

I think the best way I can describe the fragrance is a smokey, clovey Bathos! It's Parma Violets on a low sugar diet. Replacing most of the sugar with a few puffs on your favourite fag (not that I smoke) whilst chewing clove flavoured gum. You smell like you're wearing perfume not sweets. I can't stand it on myself or on a tester strip. An unsuccessful blind buy for me. Will be selling it.

got my mama this for her birthday and she loves it. i quite like it too! i'm not really a big florals girl but if i had to pick a floral note to be my favourite it would be violet, which is a very dominant note in this perfume. <3 she loves violet notes (another one of her favourite perfumes is confetti) so i knew she would love this.

This reminds me of a very toned down version of tuca tuca , pleasant but dry ....

I really really wanted to like this one, I love a good violet perfume but I just couldn't get into this fragrance.... I received it as a birthday gift in a tester/sampler pack. It may be an aquired taste but I couldn't get myself to use this perfume often. I am pretty easy to please when it comes to perfume so I was suprised that this came accross very musky and powdery to me, almost overwhelming.... It worked out okay when I spray it on my sheets, after it dries down and sits in the fabric a bit it become more pleasant to me. I wonder if maybe the older formulation was a bit more balanced...

This needs time, not easy one for me. I don't like clove and I can't smell anything else. BUT after an hour that spicy scent fades and violet comes out. It's not fresh and green violet, very powdery like dust on old books. It becomes sweeter. Drydown is woody violet with hint of sweet florals. I like it but I don't love it. Longevity is poor on skin, but it stays well on clothes. I think it smells like oldschool lipstick or playdough.

A bit too spicy and woody for my liking, I can't really smell much violet which is what I was hoping for. It gets sweeter and milder towards the dry down. It's an interesting perfume, but I don't think I would wear it. I prefer Kerbside Violet. ( I sampled a cheap dupe, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt ).

I was excited to smell this, but for me its too "perfumey", kinda smells like hairspray. Maybe that's where the "goth" vibes come from lol. It's a very strong spicy floral, a bit powdery, and kinda musty. I think its the ylang ylang that ruins it for me.

Really not good. Musty, very little violet (which is supposed to be the star of the show) and no stayingpower. So disappointed. Kerbside Violet was no good either. All I could smell was fresh cut grass, which is a great smell but not for a perfume and not violet 😕 I use Daddy-O shampoo and Retread conditioner, which both smell great and contain violet leaf. They have violet bath bombs/bubble bars that smell great, so why can't Lush do a violet forward perfume properly?! I'm still looking for a replacement for my beloved Tuca Tuca. I'm going to have to try some of the Smell-A-Like oils and sprays I think.

It smells like Sprite when it starts.. it's mainly woody scent that dominates. Too heavy and dark. So quickly it becomes powdery, smelling like old damp makeup. There is no beauty in this.

It smelled like Dr.Pepper on me. Super long lasting though, I could still smell it on my skin the next day.

I agree with the reviewer below, too overwhelmingly green for me to enjoy.

If you are a violet lover and are looking for a nice, strong, violet fragrance, stay away from this one. Please. I read some great reviews and violets are my favourite scent. I was looking for a Daddy-O smell-alike since I wasn't over the moon for Kerbside Violet. I bought V based on a test strip. It smelled a lot like Kerbside, but less leafy and more floral. I was so amazed that I bought a full bottle. However, I should have read the ingredient list, rather than trusting the reviews. There is a reason why Ylang-Ylang is way before any other notes. As soon as the initial spray sets in, the Ylang-Ylang takes the leading role. And the side roles. And the extras. Maybe, just maybe, leaves a seat in the last row for the violets to watch the horror show it has created. No cedar wood, definitely no cloves. After that scary experience (I don't necessarily hate yellow florals but this is... too much) it sets into the skin and stays there. Took three showers, didn't help. At the end of the day, I was sick and wanting to cry. I still like to sniff the bottle though, since it keeps the kerbside-but-better smell. If you adore Ylang-Ylang, this just might be for you... just not what I was looking for.

V is god-awful, sorry. I am a long time Lushie and love their fragrances but V is a no for me. V is so heavy and musky and sharp- the violets are buried under all this musk and powder. There is nothing pretty about this V. Kerbside Violet is superior to V. Kerbside is such a fresh, green violet scent like walking through a patch of violets in spring. In regards to LeahBear's comment: V is NOT the same scent as Daddy-O shampoo... Daddy-O is a very fresh, fruity violet scent- totally be different from V.

It quickly turned into a synthetic berry-candy scent on my skin. Very tart, one-note & cheap smelling, I wasn't getting any green or woody notes at all sadly! Perhaps it's down to the tester I tried or my skin composition.

Ahh an impulse purchase. I was in the Lush store actually looking at the body sprays after seeing some good reviews but was shocked to find so many perfumes they make too! Wow Lush has come a long way from bath bombs bonanza. After trying almost all of them I initially loved Lust but after a few minutes it just became a sandalwoody but mainly jasmine scent and I have two jasmine perfumes already so no to that one sadly. Luckily a staff member was there to help and actually chat with me about the fragrances as we went down the rabbit hole of finding which one I loved and I wasn’t even planning on buying a fragrance, the victor? V. For me it’s a three way tie between Kilian’s Love don’t be shy with that marshmallow sweetness, BDK’s Rouge smoking with that lipsticky feeling actually V is what I thought Rouge Smoking would be like but Rouge is a bit too sour to my taste. Then also (not sure if many know this) but the raspberry/cranberry hard boiled candies also are similar in that berry like feeling but the cedar wood kicks in here making it more adult than LDBS and the candies. It’s been around 30 minutes and is it projecting like crazy? No and I’m not expecting it too. It was $145 AUD for the 100ml (it only comes in the 100ml), and idk if it’s the recent economy but that’s not a bad price and one that I’m not expecting amazing longevity and projection. Sometimes you don’t need all of your fragrances to last an eternity! Was it the delirium of barely eating anything for the day? Was it the fact that I felt bad that I spent such a long time there with a very kind staff member? Who knows but I impulse purchased it. I’ll enjoy it and that shall be enough.

V opens very aldehydic and very green. It reminds me of bubbly champagne and green flower stems. Then as the liquid starts drying on the skin it turns into a powdery skin scent that slowly but surely becomes more sweet. The clove carefully starts coming out and i get the slightest whiff of insence but realy just a pinch. It a tad bit Gothic, but just a tad. It turns more powdery and the greenness of it slowly fades to the background after the dry down. Here it gets more vivid. It opens like a skin scent but it brightens over time. It smells like green flower stems after it rained. A misty chilly garden that warms up in the afternoon when the air brightens. It is very much unlike most lush fragrances in a way. Lush scents tent to make a point. Therefore they sometimes scream at you to get the message across. This does not do that. I imagine lots of lushy's would think this is plane because of that. I disagree, but it is an entirely different approach than what you'd expect from lush's most popular scents like karma or breath lf God. It is very naive, childlike. But there is a darkness in here as well . It reeks of nature. I love it! Old-school lush quality too, from before the reformulations. If lush's "death and decay" had a baby, it would be v. "death and decay" is very vampyric in a way. Very victorian, musty and indolic. It's a scary vampire hiding behind a thick dusty curtain waiting to lunge at your neck. V, is not that. It's your friendly neighborhood vampire tending to his violet garden in the early morning, handing treats to your passing children. :)

Bewitching and mesmerizing! Imagine a beautiful gothic enchantress brewing a love potion in the gloomy forest on All Hallow's Eve. Tendrils of creamy sweet violets and spices dance in the air. The greenery and wooden walls come to life. Think Jessica Galbreth's art. Lolita Lempicka's Minuit/Midnight line is often lauded as the best Halloween scent. I personally think LL is too candy-like and not mysterious enough. V - however - is a haunting dark violet fragrance that is perfect for fall. The closest perfume I can think of is Kerbside Violet, minus the concrete scent (i.e. that astringent Swedish bitters note). If you're craving an enchanting and spooky (but still pretty) perfume, you must try this out! Notes according to my nose (in order of prominence): Ionone, cedar, cloves, ylang ylang, violet leaf

It’s the fragrance that is in the Lush Daddy-O purple shampoo which I used in my peek 18-21year old party girl era. If I were to layer this with the original Mugler Alien it would smell like 2006. It’s very close to that expensive purple body spray thing the kids keep saying attracts spiders. V has the sillage of a shampoo as well. My favourite part was when the sales assistant charged me extra to put it in a plain brown cardboard box. Edit: if you get this on your clothes it will follow you to the grave. It also stains, so make sure you’re doing your goth-vibe that day. Layers well with any molecular musk like Not a Perfume or Cheeky Smile.

Green, overwhelmingly green. First whiff is green green grass, nothing but freshly mowed grass. This grass becomes mossy, wet, my skin chemistry makes it resemble wet hay. The sweet, fragile, slightly powdery violet finally shows itself halfway into the drydown, completely blended into the smells of different states of grass, then everything kind of mellows into each other from there on. It was not what I expected, nor something I like, but can appreciate. I am still looking for an indulgent, more sensual violet, so if anyone knows anything, I’m all ears.

-This is a first...a violet scent that overwhelms with its mustiness. -It quite literally packs a punch. -I scrunched up my nose and couldn't wait to get away from the blotter strip the instant I got my nose on it. -Big no from me. Not unless you fancy smelling like the back of grandma's closet. -Violet lovers, do yourself a favor and order yourself a sampler pack from Maison Violet (pronounced Vio-lay). Their offerings are way more elegant and timeless than this crap. (-)

Someone here said it before and once they said it, I could not smell it the same ever again: Dr. Pepper. Literally. Bubbles, effervescence and all. I don't hate it. But now I no longer smell what I did before, which was a false persona of sweet candy violets hiding behind pure, raw, unashamed dry cedar. On my skin, it just turns to wood, which I don't mind. But really, as a whole, all I can smell now is Dr. Pepper lol.

Came on SO STRONG when I first sprayed it I couldn’t even distinguish any notes. It was just very heavy. Upon dry down I liked it more, but it starts off very intense. I will have to test it again. It’s definitely one of those that you would want to apply a little bit before you really want the heart notes to come through

Not sure why this has a bunch of silly incoherent reviews below me . V was pretty much Kerbside Violet , reincarnated . They just left out the "concrete" note which rendered Kerbside hyper-masculine . V is now gone (I think) , but LUSH will bring it back as something else . Thank goodness I bought a back up bottle .

Bought this today. SO THRILLED ! This is Kerbside Violet reincarnated - minus the wet cement smell. Ultimately : a KILLER violet bomb ! Longevity is good, better than any violet fragrance I ever owned. As always : buy this before they discontinue it !!

almost a clone of Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel but nowhere near as good. a little more violet, a little less galbanum, 1/10th the longevity at more than four times the price. buy grey flannel instead, thank me later

The more you use this - the better the longevity gets. Discontinued now, but in the future - I'm sure it will be back.
