Yog Nog

While I think this ought to be a separate entry, I have (and am reviewing) the oil. I just got a few to try, because now it is near impossible to get fragrances from Europe. The law has been changed to prohibit shipping anything with alcohol by air. (One perfumer quoted me $80 to ship, and said that she was losing money at that price). Lush seemingly does want to ship to America, and so some of their perfumes are now available as oils The Yog Nog oil is stronger, than most, with greater silage and longevity. The first blast smells just like the soap, but then it changes, very quickly (3-5 minute drydown) to an overwhelmingly coconut scent. I personally hate that. (I live in Hawaii where coconut suntan lotion is a thing, or at least a lot of visitors seem to think so). I don't want to smell coconut. I really do not want to smell like coconut. The opening is very nice though *and* it lasts (unbelievably long) on cloth. In fact, it retains the yog nog scent on fabric, and lasts up to a week! I would call this scent a guilty pleasure, and one I would not wear out of the house, but it is very nice to wear to sleep. I can still smell it in the morning on my skin, but the scent changes, and quickly, on skin. I had my arm on my pillow, and it smelled like yog nog for a week, until I washed it. The bottles are small but inexpensive. I think 15 ml is a lifetime supply.

re: the body spray version: incredibly decadent, dark, generously spiced batch of crispy holiday cookies fresh out of the oven. delicious, but not sticky sweet so much as a very spiced sweet with a lot of depth and a balancing helping of bitterness. it almost feels like it has a subtle booziness, as though there’s a racy note of bourbon underneath all the baking spices, salted caramel, and clove. how the interim between the last sip of wine and the first slice of fresh baked pumpkin pie a la mode feels on thanksgiving - warm, anticipatory, and irrevocably cozy. this is a very by-the-fireplace dinner date in fragrance. all of lush’s body sprays are what i consider to be the best value fragrances on the market, as you get the depth and double the longevity of a bottled perfume for half the price. one spray goes a LONG way - spray sparingly. this is one of the most distinctly “holiday” fragrances i’ve ever smelled, so if you’re in the market for something to make the holidays feel a lot cozier and more luxe (with fantastic dollar value), you will not regret trying this!

This review is for the 2019 body spray version. Well, I have EDPs that are not half as potent or long lasting as this body spray. Four sprays and I could smell it constantly, all day, oozing out of my pores, to the point where it became cloying. I can still smell it on my clothes as if I'd applied it five minutes ago. I tested in on my wrist days ago and it's on my jacket sleeve still. This stuff is newclear. Now for the actual scent: this is the most realistic caramel/toffee/butter scent I've ever come across. It's pure edible buttery caramel plus clove oil. The clove oil note is strong at first, and then it kind of comes and goes. I've been searching for something like this for quite some time, but now I've found it, I can tell you that it can be too much without something else to cut through the richness. Regardless, it's still delicious, it just needs a lighter hand. If you like literal gourmands and specifically butter and caramel, you'll probably love this. Needless to say it smells very suitable for Christmas as well.

One of my top five favorites. I bought a backup, don't want to be without it. Most gourmands are too cloying for me and I don't like fruity frags very much (this isn't) or straight sugar, but I do love creamy/complex ones. This is like people say, buttery cream/eggnog like, but I get a notable lovely touch of floral that balances it nicely. The description for ylang-ylang is: "rich, floral, banana-toned, jasmine nuances, sweet and narcotic, aphrodisiac and erotic." I shouldn't be surprised I love it, it reminds me of the best parts of Penhaligon's Amaranthine (ylang-ylang and clove) and I enjoy several sprays of Amaranthine with one or two of Yog Nog. For me this is a very sensual scent and I like to layer it with something unique, complex and complimentary every once in a while, like Kenzo L'Elephant (another ylang-ylang and clove). It is sexy as hell, and I prefer it when I'm wanting that vibe and to feel edible. I plan to try some more ylang-ylang scents when I can, I love these three.

review for the body spray: i bought this one after someone said it smelled like cum. sadly i didn't get those notes but i wonder if the perfume smells more like it. it smells like christmas when you're baking cookies, toasted marshmellows by the fire, a coconut macaroon, and a beautiful winter day to me. lasts long on clothing but not on my skin (as i find with most perfumes with my chemistry, except things that smell horrible on me). i'm still wearing this one even though summer is approaching, i find myself drawn to it on days i want to smell yummy. also smells great mixed with my super milk hair conditioner! i just ordered the super milk perfume and i would like to try layering them when it arrives. lush creates my favorite scents and this one does not disappoint. i would also like to try the perfume and will update when i purchase that one some day! also don't be scared by the expiration date on the body spray, i bought a decant that expired last year and it still smells great!!

I just wanted to add a quick suggestion for anyone who is unsure about LUSH fragrances. If, when you first try them, you think they are too intense, almost chemical, fold the top you were wearing when you tried it, into a box and come back to it after a few months. Once the initial strength calms down, this is what people are smelling on you. Your nose goes into shutdown after the initial blast, so you can't smell it as it mellows on your body. I learned this by accident, when I forgot to unpack some clothes from a suitcase. When I opened it months later, everything smelt amazing. My hubby walked into the room and said "Ohhh, you're wearing your Vanillary!" I wasn't, but when I explained, he checked the top and said that, yep, that's how it smelt on me. So spray at a distance, avoid the initial "nasal concussion wave" and wait at least ten minutes to take even your first sniff.

This was back in stock as body spray two days ago and I managed to grab a bottle before it disappeared again from the site. It came today and I smell zero resemblance to Unknown Pleasures, but 80% (almost a dupe) to the discontinued Vanille Charnelle by Annick Goutal, which I own. The "eggy" effect is due to the ylang ylang - vanilla combo. Yog Nog has cloves on top, which is all you can smell in the initial blast, so I suggest to refrain from smelling/judging it the first 10 minutes. When the cloves subside, this is a very nice gourmand vanilla pudding with gingerbread dry down. Very lovely and not too strong: well done, Lush!

I must say; Lush knows how to deliver good quality gourmand within fair price range. You need to be literal gourmand person to like this; this is sweet custard with dry down of a bit of smoky cookie/vanilla. I purchased it for 41eur - 200 l which is great value, the silage is moderate it creates nice scent bubble, it will not fill the room but people will smell you, longevity is also great for body spray, I would say 6 hrs but I do not mind to spray again after 3-4 hrs because the scent is intoxicating.

I am writing the review based on the version I bought from LUSH AU website and this was my first wear. This one to me smells really sweet, sour and creamy like a lemon/lime cheesecake. It's definitely yummy and creamy!! It's quite strong up close but nice sweetness and definitely has a moderate sillage. It projects 1 hour on me with 3 sprays and didn't last that long (I'd say 3-4 hours). Maybe it projects better in heat? It's getting quite chilly here in Sydney. I will continue to test it out.

Yog Nog captures a sweet fudgy, caramel-y eggnog scent with only two notes. It's meant to smell like the soap of the same name, yet falls slightly short. The fragrance is missing the key note of nutmeg,which is a main ingredient in the soap. Even though its missing this component, it's an amazing scent. Even more amazing than the scent is its lasting power. I've had it last two days on my skin. It's lasted through two showers and several hand washings. It is powerful stuff.

This review is for the 2018 edition: This is warm and spicy done so, so heavenly right. Yeah, it sort of smells like eggnog but most of all it smells like you're baking something sweet during the autumn. The clove really shines through and it's wonderfully balanced with the ylang ylang so that it's a gourmand but it isn't cloying at all. Just the perfect smell for that transition between fall and winter.

This is deliciously sweet, slightly boozy and a little smokey. It reminds me of the smell of honeycomb being made on a bonfire! I have the shower gel and body milk too. Definitely for cozy winter evenings. I love it and treasure my little bottle ❤️ I have found that several Lush fragrances, including this one, improve with age, if carefully stored. Like a Single Malt Scotch or fine wine 😍

just received my 10 ml and wow. im so in love with this!!! sweet, spiced, christmasy but not to the point where you've gotta keep it for christmas time only. yummy, edible gourmand with warmth embedded into it. i think it's a bit powdery, like smelling the warm steam of powdered milk mixed with spices. amazing.

This is such a great fragrance that I wish they would keep around at least for the Fall/Winter to buy!! It goes beautifully with The House of Oud What About Pop or is beautiful as a standalone!! I just love layering and this is one that has many amazing layering options!!

I get sudden cravings to wear this throughout the year. This takes the cake for the most delicious spicy Winter gourmand in my whole collection. Always a compliment getter. I also have owned it in the lotion and body wash. Another can't-live-without perfume. <3

Almost disgustingly sweet but just spicy enough. My favourite casual winter scent. I cannot stop smelling the bottle and it lasts forever too.

the yog nog spray was surprisingly a bit sour/tart/acidic? on my skin in the opening, like yogurt or cream cheese, despite being still sweet and thick like batter. i think it may be the ylang ylang, since i tend to perceive the note that way in other gourmands. as it wears it smooths out to something very rich; creamy and sweet from the lingering white floral and a bit spiced from the clove. if i don’t think too hard, it smells like a warm egg nog bread pudding or custard cake dressed in a thin buttery layer of maple caramel glaze. to be honest i think a bit of me expected the same spiciness of lush’s other christmas fragrance, turmeric latte, but i could not be more wrong! the spices involved are definitely different. it reminds me more of let the good times roll, but from memory and it’s also christmas. lasts SO long! and is pretty strong! i think it spooked my roommate a little because i typically never wear fragrances this sweet, and with this intensity at that! best positive ever is that when i’ve worn it to bed, the spices were still lingering on my skin and were so comforting!

since there is no yog nog body spray on frangratica this is my review for the body spray: when you first buy and recieve this fragrance and smell it for the first time, expect the spice to be a little more prominent and the creaminess to be not as present upon initial spray. after letting it sit it turns into the most tangy, crispy, citrus biscuit dipped in warm milk. it reminds me of a winter christmas (as someone who lives in australia and has never experienced a cold christmas.) i would see and understand how this wouldnt be of someones liking since its a very unique and distinct scent, i've never smelt anything like it. while its a gourmand, i feel it would be fitting for any type of weather its not too heavy, quite airy and not completely intoxicating. for the price, the projection and longevity that you get from this is amazing, aswell as most of LUSH' body sprays. i paired this with the original devotion by d&g and yumm i smell like a citrus lemon butter bisuit in the best way possible.

Oh wow...I've had this bottle of "Yog Nog" for a year now...just sitting on my shelf after wearing it one time. I took it out last night to see if it layered well with my "Lattafa - Rave Now" pineapple fragrance and OMG... I...HAVE...BEEN...MISSING....OUT!!!! This is the perfect creamy springtime-feeling vanilla!!! It's milky, creamy, bright and fresh! Layers BEAUTIFULLY with anything fruity!! And with it being a LUSH frag, the projection is B-A-N-A-N-A-S!!!! I don't remember it being this powerful or creamy when I first tried it out after purchase so long ago...this is wild! I'm ordering a backup bottle IMMEDIATELY when I get home today!!! I've got a "springtime-sister" to all my bottles of "Bianco Latte" Lol.... EDIT: If "Kerosene - Unknown Pleasures" smells like this...I'm going to have to pick up a bottle of that one also! Just to add on the "Nuclear Factor" to my collection of this creamy perfection.

This smells really good!! To me, this smells just like Eillish No. 1 (or Nebras by Lattafa) layered with Ginger Biscuit by Jo Malone. It’s a creamy vanilla fragrance with a tiny bit of what smells like ginger and cinnamon to me. I used four sprays and it was STRONG and long lasting, so I definitely think it’s worth the price tag. I can’t wait to wear this fragrance this fall and winter!!

This is a buttery, creamy scent with a touch of spice and a touch of floral (Ylang). It is a gourmand scent- hence the "Nog" in the name - it really does smell like eggnog with a sprinkle of clove spice on top and then stir in a couple of white flowers. It may sound odd but it is really an oddly comforting, creamy scent.

I have to say I don't understand the Christmas connotations, but I'm not too familiar with Canadian culture. To me it smells strangely erotic — and that's really not a feeling I get from perfumes very often. I can't escape the sense that it smells like an idealised version of semen.

Not this smelling like a whole holiday itinerary—pumpkin patch by day, Christmas festival by night. It’s for the girls who like their scents a little different. Cute alone, but layered with DG: Devotion? Yeah... that’s the moment.

I loved this smell at first, but it's super easy to get sick of it! Ugh I've may have over sprayed and ruined it for myself. It's lactonic and sweet. I super loved it when it arrived and kept spraying through out the day. However, after several hours, the smell is very linear and the same. My nose gets sick of it and I feel nausea. After spraying some Honey I washed the kids to drown out whatever is making me feel sick, I feel better.

Review for the 2024 Body spray: Very strong cloves, takes about 1 hr for the sweetness to come through. This is not a dense/lactonic scent, this is very spicy-slightly sweet scent. Literally for the first hour, it is mainly cloves and no sweetness at all. It's very smoky and woody. It's nothing like "Let the good times roll", that one is infinitely sweeter than this. I was kinda disappointed when I got this.

I bought the spray online and returned it after. I did not get the deep caramel/cinnamon people are describing. I only got barbecue with a hint of ylang ylang. Sometimes it would smell like a Christmas candle, but not really a baked good Christmas candle. More like a nostalgic atmosphere if that makes sense?

it’s okay, i wish the toffee were a bit stronger and the butterscotch is a bit too overpowering for me. i can smell the spice at first whiff, but otherwise i wouldn’t smell it after. it’s meh. it also lasts really long which is impressive.

its definitely sweet, almost a sticky sweet. has a gingerbread/cinnamon feel to it, like a spiced cake. if you like edible smelling gourmands, this is for you. longevity is pretty good. it reminds me of rosie dulce A LOT

This smells 99.9% identical to Kerosene Unknown Pleasures. No need at all for both. I decluttered Unknown Pleasures so will be decluttering this also. Both are a bit boring to me.

There is no option for “reminds me of Worcestershire sauce.”

A perfect Christmas fragrance. Think crappy jumpers, baking all day with the kids and hot chocolate. Soft, spicy, a little bit sexy and a whole lot addictive. Smells just like a freshly baked christmas cake with added spices with a warm caramel center. Top it off with a glass of eggnog on the side and you have what this scent smells like. It's also very potent, I sprayed once on my jumper and three hours later I can still smell it. I like it, and one bottle will last me a very long time as I can really only see myself wearing this in December. EDIT: Wow, this stuff packs a punch. It is actually borderline irritating to me and I can see myself selling/swapping this if anyone is interested. It's SO strong! 48 hours later and I can STILL smell it on my jumper. EDIT AGAIN: I sold this bottle on. I couldn't believe how long this lasted and how much of a headache it gave me...

I wanted to close my eyes about that clove note, guess it hit me on the face when I later sprayed it ... I wanted to believe in that "warm butter cookies", it does smells like cookies but more a very warm spicy - christmas, cinnamon CLOVE cookie. Somehow the clove smells very dirty and sour even when it fades. Hopefully this one fits well being layered with "Let the good times Roll" !

I prefer the soap to the perfume. The soap is warm, creamy and eggnoggy. In the perfume, however, the notes seem to separate. It starts off smelling like synthetic butter and dries down to a straight up clove. Sorry, but the opening is rather nauseating and the drydown is not good enough to be worth it.

Exactly yog nog. Really not a wearable fragrance for most occasions. Could see myself spraying this in the dead of winter, maybe more so around the house, I think it could smell quite yummy occasionally but not something I’d want on myself 99% of the time.

I hate this so much!! I thought I liked it at first. But after letting it sit for a while, it became too much to handle 🤢 It’s so sweet and cloying and smells like I poured juice on myself and left it to dry into sticky residue. It doesn’t help that it stays forever!! I literally had to go and wash it off and even still I can smell it. I also get this weird smell that I can’t quite describe from all Lush products, I don’t know what it is exactly but I don’t like it at all 😟

Dont like it, returned it. On a test strip, it's vanilla sweetness. On the skin that clove note KICKS. overpowering gingerbread pumpkin clove whatever. I can see it on someone else but on me, it was way too spicy. Cloyingly sweet enough that I used alcohol to wipe it off because it was driving me insane at work. Even people who smelled It on me disliked it and verbally let me know. Better off as a candle. 1/10 no.

I blind bought this as someone who loves sweet smells, but this is sweet in a kind of.. portaloo toilet, wine vomit kind of way. I really could smell a soury yoghurt, no clove spices or christmassy notes- just sour yoghurt. However if you love to smell like creamy sick, before returning this I put one single spray on my pjs and now I still smell like a walking block of wensleydale over a week later!

This was a blind buy, after finding out it was back just for a while and having it recommended to me from a friend who shares just the same taste in gourmands. Right from the first smell in the cap, this struck me as a very tart buttercream. Buttery with the tartness of a cheesecake, not citrusy. I would liken this first impression to Omnia Madera. On the skin, the tartness mellows down a bit, to a warmer melted butter. Only then do the spices appear. A very aromatic, potent, warm clove appears. Nothing sharp or metallic about it. As it dries down it takes on the unmistakeable scent of soft gingerbread. Tart, oily, buttery, warm, softly spicy cake and even with a slight coconut note to it. So lovely! I recommend this 100% to any gourmand lover, as long as you can handle the potency of the cloves and butter. This earned a place in my top gourmands.

I purchased the Yog Nog body spray as a gift for one of my family members. As usually with Lush, the longevity is satisfying. As for the scent itself - cloves and ylang are an interesting combination, but to me, from afar the scent also resembles a buttery, caramel-infused biscuit with some sort of fruity jelly. Not really a jaffa cake, but it's comforting like a warm hug and presumably, easy to wear. I was told that one of the compliments received for this one was that it reminded someone of their childhood and candy floss and made the person feel nostalgic. Given that, the scent seems to be quite versatile and the reception is positive, assuming someone is fine with quite sweet perfumes.

i love the body wash and then i went to smell the spray, at first i thought it was too intense, and i would get nauseous from the 'butter' note. Then after a while I was using my soap and thought: damn ill be so sad when the soap is over, i better just get the spray went to the store and it was the last one (!!!!!) I dont regret it, it really grew on me and i spray on me to go to bed. very cozy and reminds me of my childhood when my mom used to make me egg nog when i was sick. The smell is hyper realistic to me! Just weird cause my mom used to make egg nog with raw yolk so idk if i wanna go around smelling like this haha

As a new person to Lush, this is one that I really wanted to try because I love egg nog, ylang ylang, and creamy fragrances. Well, it’s discontinued so I’m waiting for it’s return and in the meantime I’m using the body milk which was a love at first sniff. This smells like creamy, rich, birthday cake batter. They make something at Cold Stone Creamery called a Cake and shake. It’s where they take yellow cake pieces and birthday cake ice cream, and milk and blend it all together. This smells exactly like that to me. It smells EDIBLE.

for the body spray: spicy custard and cookies, definitely smells like christmas. this is one of my new faves for sure, it’s perfectly lactonic and the ylang ylang provides a slightly sugary banana note that i’m obsessed with. it lasts forever and layers really well with a lot of my other fragrances. in true lush fashion the body spray has excellent longevity and projection and i bought a back up bottle to make sure it lasts me the whole year lol

(review for the Body Spray) Cozy hot Caramel cooking in a pan with eggnog added. If you're a gourmand-candy freak with a sweet tooth , then this is your bread and butter! Very strong "fill a room" strength and your next door neighbors will think they live next door to a candy factory. Limited Edition for the Holidays 2019. I swear they have some batches of this that are completely off putting. The first tester I tried in store was horrendous, smelt like black pepper in a mist form. Second tester I tried in another store was buttery, beautiful. So I ended up purchasing the mist - turns out I have “the bad one”. It is so off putting. Most atrocious nose burning pepper to my nose. No butteriness at all. None

Warm, sticky, foody, caramelly, gourmand to the core!!! Sponge cake with vanilla frosting and drizzled with caramel with a sprinkle of clove. I love this!! I got a 200ml bottle and though Lush body spray bottles are tacky, decanting them is easy. This makes me want to eat dessert until I go into a diabetic coma. Total must have for anyone who loves gourmand fragrances.

It smells like a christmas pastry 🥐 It’s a caramely, custardy pastry dusted with some spice (like clove or cinnamon) Smells like a caramel creme brûlée with a ginger snap on top 😋 definitely a fall/winter scent.

I strongly disagree with other reviewers about the new body spray. It’s extremely sweet, mouthwatering sweet, from the first spritz. Basically it smells like a creamier version of ‘let the good times roll’ and has VERY STRONG silliage and longevity. Or performs like an EDP which makes it worth the money imo and it’s a super sweet la tonic scent. Love🩷

Body spray: ok i just want to smell like this like 4ever and sniff my self all the time while doing so. If its smelling like a dessert, so be it. Actually i love that. No sharpness nor plasticy feel, just deep soft coziness. Stays great at least on clothes. And it IS the perfect scent to spray on your scarf on the autumn/winter timesᏊ⁠ ̆⁠ ⁠ꈊ⁠ ⁠ ̆⁠ ⁠Ꮚ
