Vanillawood

Concerning this cologne, I am a big fan. This was probably one of the most rewarding blind buys I have ever done, as I was on the hunt for a cologne that contained a strong sense of rum smell. Now this is not to say I want to smell like a drunk, and thankfully with this cologne, you won't. It has a way of being very simple, but holds some complexity; If you have ever had the chance to smell/conusme Havana Club 7-years age rum, then there is a strong resemblance as you can smell the woodiness of it. The mood this cologne invokes is something which is Masculine but soft, mysterious yet recognizable, light yet dark, mature yet fun. On a subjective note, this cologne is forever burned into my mind as a background scent of my time in the Spanish Carribean [sometimes people refer to certain songs as being a representative "soundtrack" to their life, I would say this did this for me in a olfactory manner]. So I would say a warm environment does amplify the experience of this cologne but it could very easily translate into colder environments, day or night. I cannot say it is a terribly complex cologne, so if you are looking for something with more notes or a composition that is far more ambiguous, I would recommend other colognes that contain a rum scent but in a basket of other smells like "straight to heaven: by Kilian (another favorite of mine, but different from this one). Others have mentioned a grapefruit smell--- I have not smelled anything like that with this cologne. I also cannot say I smell 'smokiness' though maybe I am confusing what I thought was a slight powdery tint (very slight). Regardless, I highly recommend this indie/niche cologne and think that anyone looking for a rum/woody dry scent would be in pleasant company with this on a warm day/evening on a tropical balcony with your favorite leather loafers on, listening to some classic bolero, and sipping your favorite coffee, made only from a moka pot.

I ordered the three-pack of samples (great deal btw) and Vanillawood was my favorite. It is dark, sweet, and hot. I love the cinnamon note and the smokey-ness of this perfume. I've been on the hunt for a vanilla-cinnamon scent so this was a great discovery! The rum note is really strong in the opening but went away after the first few minutes. After hour 4/5 the spiciness mellows out into a dark, smooth, woody-vanilla. I'd say it leans slightly masculine but I think women can pull it off too, especially in fall/winter. I loved wearing it.

Very heavy, not for me. Just not a fan of this type of woody fragrances but if you like dark and smoky scents, that’s the one for you.
