Aoud 1

This is a fantastic fragrance. There is almost no more to be said as it is truly outstanding. What I enjoy about this is the way that the Oud is used. I often find that compositions containing Oud as a prominent note become overpowered by it. Not in this case. Micallef manages to create a composition that is more about the other notes, notably Vanille and fruit, which are held together and enhanced by the Oud, rather than dominated by it. The opening is a slightly sweet, fruity blast, with a subtle medicinal Oud supporting from underneath. Although not listed, you can detect a pineapple note (probably an amalgamation of other notes) at the top of this scent. As it dries down, the vanilla comes to the fore, with the agarwood now being more smokey and darker than it was before. The transition to the basenotes keeps vanilla at centre stage, now masterfully blending sandalwood to finish off. All in all, this is an expertly presented Oud. It is rich and mature, but at the same time, could almost be classified as a gourmand. The packaging is out of this world, as you would expect from Micallef. The box and bottle appear to be hand painted and the Swarovski crystals on the bottle give it the look and feel of luxury. This is now my favourite Oud fragrance, having taken over Mona di Orio's offering as I feels it gives so much more. Scent: 10 Longevity: 9 Projection: 7.5 Sillage: 5 Buy, try or pass: Try (then buy!) I was graciously sent a sample of Parfumerie Bruckner Aoud 1 back in 2014 and have been wanting a bottle ever since. Sadly, as mentioned elsewhere in M. Micallef Aoud 1's description, "Aoud 1 by M. Micallef is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance for men. Aoud 1 was launched in 2010 as part of a private label created especially for Bruckner Munich, Germany by M. Micallef" so it was only available in a handful of stores in Germany, pricey, and not easy to obtain. Thankfully, it looks as though it is now being distributed by M. Micallef, but it is still difficult to find...but find it I shall. Anyway, there are four really top-notch plum-oud fragrances (Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol, Tom Ford Plum Japonaise, Perris Monte Carlo Bois d'Oud and Aoud 1 by Micallef/Parfumerie Bruckner. I have Andy Warhol and Bois d'Oud and plan to pick-up Plus Japonaise one of these day, but I would have to say my favorite from this genre is Aoud 1 - a head over heels immediate love even though the others are top-notch. Aoud 1 performs well in that it lasts 12+ hours on my skin and project well for 4-6 hours on my skin. People are going to notice you so go light on the trigger. But they will also ask what you're wearing because it's just a delightful head-turner. Love, love, love this stuff.

So Finally After A Year Of Trying To Get My Hands On A Bottle I Got One! Was I Blown Away? Well At First No Do I Think It Is Like 1 Million? Hell No, Get Your Nostrils Checked People! Does It Smell Good? Well Yes Was It Worth The Effort? Probably Not But If You Are A Collector Than Of Course. All I Can Say Is This, At First I Was Like Wow Thats A Nice Bottle And The fragrance Was "Nice/Pleasant/Middle Of The Road/ Not Offending" But "The Proof Is In The Pudding" As They Say And Well I Have Owned It 4 Days And I Have Grabbed For It 4 Days In A Row 4/5

To me this is a fresh(summer season) take on Amouage jubilation xxv. The particular Oud used here is very similar and it is good!! I enjoy good projection for 5 hrs with 5 more hrs on the skin. I tested in the winter with a rare complement here and there, but knowing I wanted it for spring I purchased it and while wearing only twice I've received 9 compliments.Give it a testing!

This is nice albeit overrated and I rarely use that term. What I mean is that in the U.S this is near impossible to get. We had to fight hard and get on splits just to get this juice. So with that on to the fragrance. This is smooth, fruity, semi-dense lightly feathered oud fragrance. This isn't Montale's oud. This is actually quite similar to Andy Warhol by Bond the purple bottle, with the latter being a bit heavier and performing a bit better, but I think this one is more versatile as it relates to weather/climate. Overall for the price and the difficutlty to get in the U.S a 3 out of 5. It has never been complimented, though I do think it smells good. It is quite versatile and sticks around for a while. However, I don't see this being something I would love to have once my decant runs out. There are a lot more options especially at the price. Good scent, a bit overpriced and too difficult to get. If this was $100 for 100ML and can be had at your local Neiman's or Saks I would say go for it. If not then don't fight to get it spend your time and money somewhere else.
