GNTONIC

The review is going to be a bit long, so whoever makes it to the end will be a real champ. Grab a coffee and read it with me. I’ll try not to bore you, but every word is written straight from the top of my head and reflects only my own opinion. There will surely be someone who sees things completely differently. Let’s go. Selection: For three years, mainly three summers, I wandered through a fragrant labyrinth, testing dozens of perfume samples. From citrus explosions to woody whispers, and every time something was missing. One smelled terrible, another like a bathroom. One was sweet, which I didn’t want, the next too similar to a classic cologne. It always lacked either spark or lightness. I was losing my mind and my patience, and I almost believed that “the right summer fragrance for me” simply didn’t exist. By the time I’m writing this, autumn is just around the corner. I was actually looking forward to autumn to put an end to another wasted summer spent searching for a summer scent. And then, completely unexpectedly, I found it. A fragrance that lights up on the skin like sunshine. Fresh yet deep. It gave me that instant “wow” I’d been looking for. And trust me, I was searching intensely, even if I didn’t try literally everything. I instantly felt pure joy in a bottle, and now I don’t want to keep it to myself. Selection Criteria: I want a summer fragrance that knocks me out of my shoes. Something that feels perfect. (Let me point out, this is not a dating app.) I want something for warm weather that isn’t sweet. Something that won’t make me toss the sample aside after the first spray. Something I’ll happily reach for and be excited to put on my skin. I want a light, airy fragrance with a spark that no other scent could give me. I don’t want just a “good” fragrance. I already have 48 of those. I don’t want something merely clean, and nothing that smells synthetic or chemical. These criteria didn’t seem that hard to meet. Appearance: I like gold or green colors on perfume bottles. Or a combination of the two colors. So this part will be quick. For me, this bottle is one of the best-designed out there. It looks great, feels luxurious and elegant, and stands out among other fragrances. Longevity: I’ll keep this short so we don’t waste time. Some users say it lasts long, others say very little. Personally, I don’t want a fragrance that projects intensely for 8 to 12 hours. Especially not in summer or on warm days. I’ve had scents like that for summer before, and they’re not for me. I’d rather have something I can refresh after a few hours and enjoy the revitalizing effect. The scent is so pleasant that I want to smell it again throughout the day. My experience: sometimes I smell it for 3 hours, sometimes 6. Six hours is its max before it becomes a skin scent. The opening is amazing. The fragrance is airy and magical. Or simply excellent. Pick any positive adjective you like. I’ll gladly carry a small travel bottle with me. Positives: GnTonic by M. Micallef is an absolute gem for me. A fragrance that instantly became one of my favorites. Most people love it or at least something along those lines. With the very first sniff, I felt like I was standing on a sunny coastline with a refreshing drink in hand. Lime, gin, mint, juniper, ginger, and let’s say even that tonic from the name. Although I wouldn’t directly compare it to an actual gin and tonic cocktail. All of it together creates an incredibly fresh and energetic opening that’s truly captivating. After this blast of freshness, the perfume unfolds elegantly into gentle woody, herbal, and floral notes. The result is a harmonious and sophisticated whole with a lovely balance of freshness and depth. What fascinates me about GnTonic is its natural purity, playful vibe, energy, effortless elegance, and the way it stands out without being intrusive, heavy, or sweet. It’s also unforgettable. It’s the kind of scent that accompanies you lightly. To the office, for a beer with friends, or to a classy event. GnTonic isn’t just a summer perfume for me. It’s a fragrance of freedom, joy, and personal style. Conclusion: If I had to pick a single fragrance that has genuinely excited me recently, it would be this one. I’ve been looking for it for a very long time. I’ve received a huge number of compliments on it. Every second application of GnTonic on my skin has resulted in someone asking what I’m wearing. That’s why I’m definitely giving it the highest rating. I haven’t yet met anyone who didn’t like it. And often, I wear it simply for my own pleasure. Comparison: I’ve read that it’s similar to Xerjoff Torino 21, MFK Gentle Fluidity Silver, or Goldfield & Banks Bohemian Lime. Let me assure everyone. It’s not. I’ve tried all three and had them at home, at least as samples. None of them is even half similar. At least not to my nose. Similarity is always subjective, some materials in perfumes are perceived differently by different people. Some users can’t smell certain ingredients at all, and it may take them half a year or even a year of training before they can. Of course, comparisons make sense. But here, I’m loudly declaring that the similarity to GnTonic by M. Micallef is nowhere near even halfway there for me.

Firstly, there's something about M. Micallef fragrances that you can feel the natural herbal thing going on. Not at all synthetic. That quality is super present here.. you can feel that tart rindy lime zest at the top and juice in mid n dry. Secondly, everything is on point. Sourness of lime, saltines of rock salt, just a touch of that elegant sweetness of lily, mossiness, elegance of Vetiver n creaminess of woody sandalwood. This is masterfully Crafted. Thirdly, it's not very unique but definitely very rare to find such an easy, mass-pleasing with this high quality which already sets it apart from those wearing CK, Tommy Bahama's, Versace eau fresh n other similar range fragrances. Gintonic smells and feels way expensive plus it lasts way better. Lastly, it's a versatile one. Office safe - yes. But I rock this casually during summer. Afternoon beach restaurant - yes... White shirt button down - hell yeah... Evening out dance party - sure... Open hood drive in sun - why not! Well I won't mind it on a beach but when I'm just chilling on the shore having a gintonic in my hand. Fresh, Salty, Slightly sweet and elegant summer banger.

This is one of the best Spring/Summer scents (If you are into Gin/Juniper based fragrances)! In terms of fresh interesting smells, it is very hard to beat M. Micallef GN Tonic. This is a super bright citrusy, minty, effervescent fragrance. There is cleanliness, yet a ton of depth. The only warning to some is that the tonic, gin accord and citrus make this a photo realistic gin and tonic fragrance. That gives way (1-2 hours) to a citric floral, light green fragrance. Total time on my skin was 2-3 hours with strong, sillage and projection. Around hour 3, moves into arms length. By hours 5-6 skin scent. A co-worker commented on the smell in an after hours meeting 10.5 hours after initial spray. Interestingly enough, when I took a hot shower later in the evening, I got a blast of fragrance when I stepped into the shower. Definitely sample, however, I think this is perfect for the Spring, Summer, and Fall. I have not worn in the Winter yet, but with the strength of the fragrance, it might be the perfect uplifting fragrance when the Winter doldrums hit. Cheers!

My signature summer scent. I tend to gravitate towards cold weather frags, as I prefer the spice and wood profiles more than most others. Summer frags, at least the ones i like, tend to fade too quickly for my liking, and i have no interest in reapplying throughout the day. However, I've been determined to find myself a couple summer fragrances that I can rely upon in recent years. I generally don't do blue frags, my preference is for lime dominant scents in warm weather. To me, you can't do much better than Gntonic. Despite critiques on here, I get an easy 6-8hrs of performance and sillage from 4 or 5 sprays in the morning. This has a great effervescent lime opening that dries into a great blend of citrus, floral, woods and spices. Compliments matter very little to me, but of course I like hearing them! And of my warm weather frags, I can't think of any other that has gotten me more compliments than Gntonic. So I know people like the scent, I know I like it, and I know that people are smelling it many hours into the day. Check, check and check.

Wow, where do I begin. Off rip, you definitely get slightly sweet, sparkly gin and tonic. Nuances of ginger and lime is present to uplift the already uplifted scent if that makes sense lol. In the air, your scent trail gives a slight ambroxan-y feel, but not in a Sauvage EDT way (which I think smells like metal shit). On the dry down, it stays slightly sweet but softens up by what I think is the mixture of white musk and Cypriol oil. The vetiver is for sure there to keep you feeling uplifted. This is a badass summer fragrance and I would go 3 sprays max with this baddie. Just like the reviewer said below, I can see this getting annoying and cause headaches IF over sprayed. 100% safe to spray in the spring and warmer winters as well. Idk what it is but imagine slamming a bunch of gin and tonics and getting super sloshed up but still keeping your shit together. That's what this smells like! This was a blind buy for me and I don't regret it at all

Short story, this is gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous...It opens incredibly fresh, lively, and herbaceous with a prominent mint note that’s kind of like if you took a juicy mint gum, chewed it and blew in someone’s face. Almost juicy... The longer it dries down, the soapier it becomes until it smells like a luxurious hotel when you first walk in the lobby, and that beautiful mint note stays around the entire entirety of the fragrance. You can definitely smell the boozy gin note and it reminds me of this gin speakeasy I went to in Australia that had hundreds of high-end gins... because I definitely think of quality and high end when I smell this. If you’re looking for a summertime banger, that’s fresh, or spacious, refreshing, clean, and should garner compliments, get not one but two bottles of this! I love it!

This is a super refreshing fragrance that has a cooling feel to it. Fresh. Sharp, Aromatic with citrus and woody acords this is perfect for all year around and a great performer for a fresh scent with all day longevity. I love this fragrance as it combines a citrus lime with fresh woods in a wonderful way. I dont know what Gin and Tonic smells like in real life but my mom told me its pretty accurate. This fragrance smells like a memory to me an alpine lake surounded by mountains. I would recommend this fragrance to anyone looking for a mass-appealing fresh fragrance that still wants to smell different and stand out. Love! Starts out very fizzy gin and tonic. Very true to life (though it's been a long time since I've had a gin & tonic, admittedly). For me, it seemed to die quickly when I'd first wear it. Then, after a couple hours at work, I'd wander around wondering who smelled so amazing. I was just catching wafts of the fizzy, green, and woody magic. It actually took me a couple wears to realize it was me! The gin portion doesn't last long. The juniper berries and vetiver take over after an hour or so with occasional hints of citrus and spice. This is my favorite michallef frag to date. Perfect summer time fragrance. Dressed up or down, this is a no brainier to wear and love.

I tried a sample of this about a year ago. I thought it was really good, but I had mixed feelings. I tried it again, and I bought the 100ML because this is absolutely amazing! I wouldn't say it smells like Gin and Tonic because it's not boozy, but my gosh it has this amazing, lime, minty, cool drink smell to it that I've never smelled better in my life! It has this cool feeling like it's a cool breeze! It almost reminds me of a green popsicle. This screams summer luxury, high class, like late night classy party maybe on a yacht. If you wear this you are a stud! Some influencer (i forgot who) said PDM Sedley is like the Tony Montana Miami mafia guy. No, this is!

This is slowly climbing to be a top 10 in my collection. A buddy I buy stuff from sold this to me for pretty cheap and I'm so glad I picked it up. It truly smells like a photo realistic gin & tonic to my nose. It is very fizzy, minty, citrusy, and piney in the opening. The fizzyness dies off within an hour and a half and I'm left with an aromatic, minty, and lightly woody smell. It's pretty linear and I'm glad because that opening is so good. I have yet to get a reaction from anybody about this fragrance but thats ok. Projection and performance are just decent, about 6 hours with arms length projection for the first 2. 10/10

Honestly I don't get G&T from this but I do get a lovely blend of mint, grass and musk, all balanced with a little sweetness. Perfect for the hot weather we've been having here recently (30C plus). The grassy, almost fizzy opening quickly leaves a musky drydown which sits close and is beautiful, almost calming. If someone said this was a Creed GIT flanker (the grassy note) I'd have believed it. GNTonic is expensive and quite hard to get (discounts are fleeting) but does differentiate vs the usual citrus/salty/calone bombs marketed at sun loving punters. 4.5/5

The 2nd perfume from Micallef. Wow. Both have blown me away. Was lucky enough to grab a 100ml of desir toxic for under £100 and this was giving me the eye. Fizzy fresh on opening which passes relatively quick. Citrusy loveliness. Then onto a lovely calm vetitver, musk and amber dry down. It reminded me of juniper sling and diors homme Cologne (the citruses) but it's much more. It's no projection monster but it's not meant to be. Perfect for hot days and nights.

So, GNTONIC is a gorgeous warm weather fragrance! It opens with an herbaceous and botanical mintiness. Smells of high-end botanical gin, mint, light lime and as it dries, you get a little cedar, moss, lily-of-the-valley and the Amber in this doesn’t warm it up at all. I got a 2ml sample. I just tried it. I'd say it's in the same boat as fragrances like PDM Sedley. This spearmint/7-Up type scent. This smells especially good. It's refreshing. Like a cool drink on a summer day, or at night, and its classy. But i don't understand the hype with these fragrances. They smell good, but I wouldn't want to smell like this. Also, I sprayed it on my arm and it's extremely weak. It barely became a skin scent.

It smells almost identical to Avon’s Bart Simpson cologne from the 90’s. Not even joking. I got it as a gift when I was about 12. It was meant to be a joke, but it became my after hockey cologne, it was incredibly soapy and way ahead of its time. Micallef has remade it with extremely high quality ingredients and an absolutely intoxicating fizzy Hendrick’s gin and tonic type of opening. This is a 20 on a scale of 10.

Just got it yesterday and it smells absolutely amazing. I can sort of understand the comparison with this and sedley with the mint and fizziness in the opening but it quickly fades away after 10 minutes. Still cant pick out what notes im getting besides lemon lime minty sparkling water smell in the opening and the huge amount of musk in the dry down. If you like sedley, you will definitely love this one!!

I blind bought a 10ml decant of this because the full bottle was out of stock to go with the rest of my order. This has an amazing opening that hooked me immediately. I will be buying a full bottle. The dry down reminds me of the original blue axe spray from back in the day but done in a perfectly balanced mature way with the gin sitting on top. Definitely in my top 20 fragrances.

Fresh, sexy, clean and fresh spicy. Perfect for the summer, the name is completely fitting as the opening smells exactly like lime citrus and sharp gin. The drydown gets even more interesting with a soft woodiness that keeps that fresh citrus a bit. Pretty good performance for a freshie which will make it perfect for the Summer! Highly reccomend.

SO GOOD! It's so refreshing! Makes you want a gin and tonic!!! In the first hour or so after applying, people will stop and ask what it is you are wearing!! Perfect for warmer weather!!! The only downside is the performance, but overall full bottle worthy in my collection.

Amazing, got a 10ml sample and I finished it. This stuff is amazing for the summer. Projects like crazy and smells amazing!! Definitely would recommend, Venbafragrance had a crazy deal on it so I snagged a full bottle. Only thing I wish could be better was the longevity.
