Amaro Explosive

#1637 in my “Tour de Fragrance” Got this as a decant from scentsplit.com. Nothing “explosive” going on here, but it is certainly a unique blend with no equivalent scents in my experience. The one scent out there that sort of has this leathery licorice vibe is Mason Asrar “Shaheen Black” which costs about half what this costs (I can only find it from an Italian supplier). Shaheen Black has more incense, but lacks the vanilla that gives this a licorice confection leaning that I actually prefer. The fabulous but discontinued Mugler “B*Men” was something like this. This isn’t super potent, but it holds up till lunchtime, projects arm’s length for a couple of hours, is inoffensive for any setting, and I find that women are more attracted to licorice scents than I am, so I factor that it in. Would not be high on my full bottle acquisition list, but if I got it as a gift I’d wear it often. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

Feels like sitting on a church bench where a glass of Amaro Del Capo (a typical spiced Italian liquor) has been spilled. The opening is sharp and boozy, maybe thanks to the red thyme. Shortly after, the fragrance quickly shifts toward a woody, not-too-clerical incense. Within a couple of hours, vanilla makes its appearance, softening the composition on its drydown. On my skin, it has good longevity (4-5 hours) with a moderate sillage lasting a couple of hours. A very interesting concept, beautifully crafted.

I am not smelling the delicious smells reviewer below is smelling... What I smell on my skin is artificial rancid sweet leather, with zero incense. Smells like a hungover old metalhead :D no thanks.
