Baroque Rouge Extrait

Just a quick disclaimer before we begin the review. I picked this up from Fragrancebuy about a month or so ago, and it seems to have been rebranded from Baroque Rouge Extrait to La Rouge Baroque Extreme. From what I could find it's the same juice and bottle just with a different name. In any case, this fragrance was recommended by a particular fragrance influencer as one of the best clones of BR540E on the market right now. Full disclosure; I've experienced the opening of BR540E but not the dry down. So I won't be able to speak to the accuracy of that, just the opening and initial performance. Now that we've covered all that, let's get into it; Scent: Opening is sweet, nutty, and and warm spicy. There is a big blast of alcohol when first spraying this on, so be aware of that. It does burn off within a few minutes though. The primary notes I get are saffron, almond, woodsy notes, and ambergris. The strongest of the notes are the saffron and almond. The saffron carries that familiar soft, warm, spicy, and bittersweet note that is the hallmark of BR540. The almond gives the opening a softly nutty accord that also carries some bittersweet nuances. This is followed by the woodsy notes and ambergris. The ambergris note is not the salty kind, but rather just adds some extra warmth. Some can describe ambergris as being "skin-like" and I can pick up on that from this note. Finally, the woodsy notes add a strong and masculine base to the opening. This fragrance is very linear, so the dry down is nearly identical to the opening; still sweet, warm spicy, and woody. The woodsy notes might be just a bit more pronounced in the opening, but only slightly. Other than that it's pretty much the same scent, just not as strong. Performance: Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is very strong as well with an easily noticeable scent trail. That being said, the initial performance was a bit confusing for me. After I first sprayed it on I got that initial blast of alcohol, but then I could barely smell anything. If my wife hadn't told me it was as strong as it was, I would have thought there was zero performance. Apparently this is a fragrance you can immediately go anosmic to. After about 30 minutes of it settling I was able to pick it up by myself a bit better. At the 3 hour mark the projection was still at least 4 feet and the scent trail was still easily noticeable. At around the 8 hour mark the projection and sillage were unchanged. When I checked again at the 10 hour mark the projection was about arms length but the scent trail was still easily noticeable. This fragrance lasted at least 12 hours before becoming a skin scent, making it certified eternal. When to wear: I'm sure it goes without saying, but you can wear this anytime you would wear BR540E. Typically speaking, BR540E is a fall/winter fragrance due to its exceptionally sweet scent profile; but in reality people wear BR540E all year round. I do agree that it shines best in colder weather during fall/winter, but as long as you adjust the sprays accordingly it can be suitable for any season. As far as occasions, this can work almost anywhere. In the office, on dates, at formal occasions; you will smell like money. As stated previously, just be sure to spray appropriately so you don't choke people out. Blind buy: If you like the BR540 DNA, or you like super sweet unisex fragrances in general, this would be a safe blind buy for you. Final verdict: So the big question; does this properly emulate BR540E. The answer to that question, for me at least, is a resounding yes. From the scent profile to the performance, it pretty much nails the essence of BR540E. The scent profile is unmistakably BR540E, even down to the almond note that sets it apart from OG BR540. The performance is monstrous with at least 12 hours of heavy sillage and projection. At some point in my fragrance journey I'll probably get real BR540/BR540E, but until then this will do me just fine. If you're in the market for a BR540E clone, don't sleep on this one. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 9/10

I found it for $13 online, I smelled Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait recently, and was obsessed with how it smelled on my skin. But I don't have that kind of money, so I blindly bought this and it did not disappoint! I can actually say I am obsessed. If you like the extrait DNA, I cannot see how you cannot like this. Now while it does not smell 1:1, I actually think it smells better. While Extrait has exceptional wear-time and definitely smells more 'luxurious,' this one smells undeniably sweet and seductive on me. I want that sweetness, and this delivers while still maintaining the extrait's original flavor if that makes sense. I love it, this is exactly what I wanted the original to smell like. I guess the only downside is that this feels much more feminine than the original unisex DNA. I must say this does not last as long as the original, nor can you smell it from very far away, but for the price, the bottle, the sweet scent, I cannot complain. I really really like this and recommend it if you want a sweeter take on the DNA for a cheap price.

This has the cherry/raspberry cotton candy vibe 100% and is more feminine smelling, smoother and sweeter than Barrakat Rouge 540 Extrait by Fragrance World with much less of the metallic scent (but still has a little which I like I think thats the addictive component but it doesnt need to be over done).This is super sugary, I feel like I get the crystals! It starts out smelling a little weak but within 10 minutes the scent intensifies alot and smells very strong.This and Ana Abiyedh Rouge are my favourites of the dupes, and they are super close just that Ana Abiyedh leans pear and slightly syrupy perhaps with the added caramel and pear and this leans cherry and crystalline and this has better longevity. Club de Nuit Untold was just too masculine, too metallic and spoilt the fun. I think this is my favourite of them all.

I wore this three times so far. I have most of the duplicates of the BR540 brands. This one is on the sweeter side with less metallic. This one lasts on me all day. Funny enough I tested this fragrance to the tee. I wore it on a warm spring day , worked on a car for a couple hours, and went to a tattoo shop at the end of the day. Guess what , it lasted longer than the other duplicates. I still smelled cotton candy sweet at the end of the day. The sweetness is not overwhelming , but it does set itself away from the other dupes by being a sweeter of the batch. Longevity 10/10, Scent 10/10, Silage 10/10 ( people tell me that I smell good and yes I overspray).

I've had this perfume since last October and I simply love it. It's a bit sweet, but not too much. Sometimes I think it has disappeared, but as soon as it gets hot or I start to sweat a little, it just comes back to life. It makes me feel loved and embraced (sounds weird? Yes, but that's how I feel). It cost me about 35 dollars, including the extra I have to pay to ship it to Colombia, but it's much cheaper than buying it here. Sometimes I put a little on before sleep because it calms me. Although it's not recommended for the heat, even on a hot day, I don't feel like it's suffocating or too much. However, for a cool night, it's perfect.

INSANE how close to the og this is, smelt the og extrait inside Nordstrom's Flagship multiple times, even got a sample from them. This is the same. Ordered off Amazon, got a 2022 batch fully macerated and ready to go. Alcohol smell went away after less than 2 minutes unlike what others have said. Very excited to have this in my collection without spending HUNDREDS.

Finally, the Extrait page. I love the scent, but I have yet to see what the actual BR540E smells like. Definitely my kind of layering fragrance. Might be a little light if you don't spray heavy like I do. I haven't gotten nose blind yet, but I'm sure it fades for a reason. Others have a metallic note that I haven't picked up here. I love this.

Saffron, almond liqueur, and lots of woody musk, the musk definitely leans synthetic but it's not entirely overwhelming. This needed a few months to settle into its wearable form, was very harsh in its initial trial. Best for colder weather, lasts around 5 hours on me.

Smells wonderful! Fruity sweet and sexy. It's loud when you first spray then it's even better once it dries down. Highly recommend. I love it.

I own a bottle of the original BR540, I have not smelled the Extrait version. This smells very close to the original BR540. There is something a little weird in the opening. After it dries down, I become nose-blind and can no longer smell it but others can. I received no less than 5 compliments the day I wore this to the office. It’s the same with the original. It is a compliment getter. Right now, I can tell there is a difference between this and the real fragrance it’s duping but it is a very small difference. Not enough to justify the $300-$400 price difference. After this sets for a month or two, there may be no difference at all. I will do an update.

Compared to Orientica Amber Rouge: BRE is less medicinal. Just as sweet. A bit more almond. Orientica has a nicer opening though. Compared to zara Red Temptation. BRE is more sweet, less mossy, not burnt sugar. Not as strong. Zara has a nicer opening. Compared to Untold: BRE is sweeter. Not musky in the drydown. Not as long-lasting. Untold has a nicer opening. So far,.to me, Baroque Rouge Extrait is the best scent profile. You just have to hold your breath through the opening, because is terrible.

Good value for money I got it off amazon for about 20$ The opening often has a heavy alcohol smell like cheap vodka but dries down to a nice woodsy and amber scent. I find that the projection is quite weak, but the longevity is pretty solid for me lasting about 6-7 hours overall worth the money if you like Br540e but don't want to pay the absurd prices just keep in mind the weaker performance.

More summery and sweeter version of Baccarat, if you like more fruitish/sweeter fragrances and baccarat original, youd definetely would like this one. Openings and afters are sweeter than original and i honestly like this more than the original in case of a smell (not longevity or sillage that original is crazy on those features).

This is definitely one of my all time favourite DNAs however, i go nose blind to all dupes within minutes. The only one I can smell all day long is the OG. But I have received compliments on it.

It’s sweet and the first time I wore it, I got a compliment. So yeah, I love it. The opening and the dry down. At certain point you get nose blind but it stays long on your clothes.

The scent is very pretty BUT I can spray this head to toe and IT DOES NOT LAST! Soooo, yea I just use this before I go to bed...

3.5/5 let me explain I bought this on Amazon I had credits so it’s was like 12 so I said why not just for the dna sake... Straight burst of alcohol in the opening it’s been sitting for a lil over a month the alcohol has calmed down BUT the dry down after the alcohol fades is really nice, HOWEVER it’s not strong what so ever the silage is weak the smell is a skin scent right out the gate I do get hints of sweet almond light saffron and some cozy woodsy amber goodness if it was just blended better it’s would be a solid daily fragrance So I’ve decide to let it sit and if I’m not happy with it at the end of the year it will probably be a scent for my son

I'm finding this one too sweet on me. I had hoped it to be more unisex and woodsy, but for me it's too heavy on the almond. So even though it's a lovely scent, not for me.

My sister has the real BR540, I wrote this around her and she thought i was also wearing the real BR540... Save your money people!

I get alcohol blast out the gate. Gonna let it sit for a bit and come back to it.
