Baroque Satin Oud

Baroque Satin Oud presents a heavily powdery and a bit chaotic, funky scent that may feel overwhelming at first, but quickly transforms into something entirely different — a smooth, dense blend of sweet rose, smoky incense, and vanilla. The transition is seamless yet surprising, with the initial cheap burst giving way to a premium scent experience. Right from the start, it exudes the style of vintage feminine perfumes. As it evolves, subtle hints of green and leather emerge. Over time, it settles into a warm, velvety, sugary rose with a floral-forward character. Once fully dry, there's a trace of dark fruits, possibly blackcurrant, adding a subtle fruity dimension. One of the most striking aspects of Baroque is how it defies expectations for a Middle Eastern rose-oud scent. It's unlike any other such combo; in fact, there's no oud detectable to me at all, which might surprise those expecting that classic rose-oud interplay. Instead, there's a hint of baby wipes and powder, but also a resemblance to an Arabian dessert with saffron and cinnamon. The projection and longevity are insane, making it too overwhelming for enclosed spaces. A few sprays, and you're committed for the day (and likely into the next). It leans quite feminine, but as a man I could wear it too. Feminine not in a grandma floral bouquet way, though. I personally prefer it on my partner due to its distinctly feminine undertones. Overall, it's an alluring, seductive, and classy scent with its unexpected contrasts and evolving character. It brings to mind a velvet-clad room from 80s movies. It's really similar to the original. this stuff is truly fantastic. i was super nervous about it because of the mixed reviews but amaz*n had it for under 20$ and the bottle is gorgeous so i figured it would at least look good on my shelf lol, but in fact this is my new fave scent! it truly is rich and satiny, sweet but not cloying. The vanilla almost reads as caramel combined with the slight smokiness of the extremely mild oud, the roses are red and purple not powdery pink ones. the violets are sufficiently piquant and herbal to balance it out. The scent doesn't really change as it dries down, but somehow it gets deeper and more rich as it warms on the skin. i've never smelled the MK oud satin mood so I can't compare to that, but i realized that it makes me think of a baby sister or young niece of the classic revlon ciara -- not the opening with the neroli and palmarosa of course, but the drydown of sweet, animalic and vanillic amber with iris-rose and woodiness. BSO is a bit more of a 'clean' amber, and updated with a fresher rose, and gentle oud instead of rosewood-cedar, but has a lot of the same rich, hypnotic powder and amber vibe. The MK fragrance has benzoin but I feel like the resin in this one reads as opoponax, perhaps because of the combination with the violet. Also has a similarity to pas de velours by les nereides, though without as much of the incense 'smoke.' the notes on this listing are wildly off though, i have no idea where they came from lol

Such a delightful scent to wear. The warm rose brings me back to when I was in my mom’s dressing room and her perfumes were in the air, all mixed in. It also brings back high school memories when as a cheerleader, I was given a splash of this big bottled pink baby cologne called Para Mi Bebe. It’s definitely not your old lady rose scent. It’s more like neighbor’s fragrant rose mixed with woody and musky wind. I love it! I’m so glad this isn’t $400 because I would most likely use it sparingly and not often. This scent is also so pleasant, I don’t mind smelling myself all day and hoping other people don’t either. Blind buy this if you won’t mind sublime rose and mild oud together. It’s strong in a way that it lasts a long time on my clothes and skin but also in a not so intense way. This is a more mature scent though - not for teenagers or early twenties. Unisex. Wear this by the pool at night or even during the day. It may be too intense for school and office.

I'm still surprised of the quality of this scent. Blind bought it for 30 usd expecting not that much. It turned out to be the best Maison Alhambra perfume I've ever smelled. I haven't tried te OSM Extrait version, only the original one and I have read that this is more similar to the extrait. Well, for me it's still too close to the OG. First of all, I want to make it clear that this DNA is not for everyone. Like most rose fragrances, if you haven't ventured into that world, it might strike you as an old lady as first impression. Especially for men. However, If you're already into rose fragrances and do not have an issue with them this is totally a hit. Especially for the clean, powdery and sweet dry down. As a man this gives me thousands of compliments. I'd describe it as opulent, seductive and elegant. The price in relation to what it offers this is a 10/10.

Dark and spicy rose forward fragrance. The opening is quite strong and a bit sharp from saffron and spices but soon this big bold rose becomes velvety and powdery. I can imagine there could be oud accord somewhere but I can't clearly smell it. It is complex and well blended, transitions are quite smooth for such a cheap perfume and performances are so impressive. From the first this was beast mode projector lasting all day. I'm not sure how close is to the original but reminds me of two perfumes from my collection L extase rose Absolute and Xerjoff Soprano. Soprano has more prominent oud and milky texture, while Rose absolute is more jammy and lacks that powdery texture. It's a love.
