Opera Rouge

I smelled the OG at Sephora and then ran to buy this. It smells just like it. This scent reminds me of Pink Sugar mixed with Britney Spears's Prerogative. I've never really worn Black Opium so that's why I'm reminded of those two, because I actually used to wear them a lot. But apparently Prerogative smells like Black Opium so go figure. To me this perfume smells like cherry suckers, coffee and creamy vanilla. Something about it has a synthetic vibe that's almost plastic-y or inky? Idk how to put it into words. I get the same scent in Prerogative and in BO Over Red so I assume maybe it's the coffee note mixing with something. For some people this may be off putting but for me it makes it a little edgy and sexy, kinda like latex or vinyl notes in fragrance. The performance is great, as with most Maison Alhambra fragrances. I always get fantastic performance from them, strong and long lasting especially on clothes. I would definitely repurchase this again.

Okay, this is in the same DNA family as Black Opium for sure, but its longevity for me is almost non-existent. It's a skin scent within minutes and then hard to notice after an hour or so. Performance is really bad, which isn't usually a thing on my skin. Normally, a scent is there for 8+ hrs, and often there are still stronger traces of a fragrance than what I pick up with this after an hour. So, scent is great and very much part of the YSL Black Opium line, but performance, at least on the first day of owning the fragrance, is abysmal. Let's hope that my bottle matures somewhat and performance improves, which also hasn't really been a thing I've noticed in my 300+ bottle collection.

When i first sprayed it on my wrist i really didn't like it. I was very disappointed because i ve heard good things about this perfume (it was a blind buy). I was willing to give it a chance though because i wanted to like it. A few minutes past and i can already smell a lot of pear, vanilla, jasmine (without even checking the notes, they re really obvious). No cherry, which is sad. But it compensates because i walked outside after half an hour and i could smell myself, a very beautiful, sensual, classy, elegant, seductive, feminine scent. I don't regret buying it and i m sure i ll repurchase because it s really really good.

Ultimately, I love this perfume, but I have to be in the mood for it! If I'm not, it's way too much. Between the cherry and the patchouli which in this case is very powdery.. it can be too heavy. I can't wait for the cooler weather to come back around so I can wear it when I am in the mood to do so!

This is delicious and spot on! Great longevity and it's even stronger after letting it sit for a week! Test things for yourself, Friends...folks are getting ridiculous on here; absolute trolls by rating fragrances they've never smelled personally! Trust your own nose and purchase what you love!

Opera Rouge is a great dup for Black Opium Over Red, with no waiting to get to the best and most beautiful part. Very wearable. A must try if you love deep cherry red scents. Delicious for autumn-winter.

I had to double check the price tag, because this perfume delivers above and beyond! Rich, deep, sultry cherry, patchouli and mandarin. Love it

Black Opium Over Red Yves Saint Laurent

Glad to see how quickly this got added. First, never smelled the one this was inspired by. I only began wearing perfume again this year. I have smelled the og of the og & not a big fan of licorice anything. I have been trying to find a dark, juicy, sultry cherry. This is not quite it, but I really like this. The opening is a blast of mandarin & cherry, the citrus fades quickly, but maintains a freshness until the dry down. The cherry is ever present in the whole olfactory journey. It blends with the florals, vanilla, patchouli effortlessly. The florals are present but not the focus. When you smell the coffee you are in deep dry down, with lil peeps. The dry down is very warm, slight(very slight) spiciness, a lil powdery, and sweet. The vanilla & cherry are blended to perfection. Projection and silage are pretty good, mind you I have had only a week. On my first wear test, I got 4 on skin, we will see what I get today. I assumed when I bought that I would only be able to wear Fall/Winter, but I can get away with date night wear in Spring/Summer, especially in a controlled environment. I believe I will reach for often bc you don’t have to think too hard about it. 15/10

I don’t have Over Red so I can’t compare , but this is lovely! If the original black opium or opera noir is a bit too loud for you, try this! It’s a lot softer and so pretty! It’s sexy but in a ladylike way. The cherry is done well and not cough syrupy. It’s brand new so perhaps it will mature into a louder fragrance, but right now it’s more subtle but still pretty. The coffee note is also less dominant than in the original, it sits a bit farther back but it’s definitely in there. I think I like this better than the original. Sometimes the coffee note is a bit much, so the toning down of it is appreciated. This is a great date night fragrance for an affordable price! I picked it up for around $24. 2/4/26- a month later, gosh it’s still so incredibly beautiful !! I absolutely love it still and it’s gorgeous in the cold snowy weather! Worth every penny and more!

I anxiously awaited the arrival of Maison Alhambra "Opera Rouge" after experiencing disappointment with Al Ansar "Hasaa." To my nose, Hasaa, YSL "Black Opium Over Red" and Opera Rouge are practically indistinguishable. I like this perfume because I like the perfume's profile. I adore all the listed notes and the way Opera Rouge develops on skin. Unfortunately on my skin, performance is poor. Opera Rouge opens with barely detectible citrus but a very strong cherry accord. The perfume unfolds with gentle floral notes, an extremely weak coffee accord and a gentle vanilla in its drydown. However within minutes of applying the perfume on skin, I can barely detect any degree of fragrance. If you love this profile, give Ainash "Golden Cherry" a try. It's a lovely fragrance with nearly identical notes.

First I didn’t get the vibes I love in the og but after it macerate For 2 months it is typical dupe longitivity is not strong but overall is a good purchase ;Im a big fan of maison al hambra and lattafa perfumes ❤️❤️♥️♥️

Less cherry than the original and the drydown happens quick. It's sweet, not cloying and pleasant.

The scent is so good, one of my favorite DNAs by far. With that said, I barely reach for this because I have to spray an absolute obscene amount of juice in order to get this to make even a slight presence. I just can’t stand that part about this fragrance, so unfortunately I’m looking for something similar and will have to let this one got. Gorgeous scent though, just gorgeous.

Compared to Cherry Gossip the opening is pretty bad, smells like a waxy cherry candle or lip balm. But it’s dry down strays, having a strange citric coffee that I absolutely adore. Compared to Opera Noir it’s also not as boring.

To me, this lacks something fundamental in comparison with Black Opium Over Red. The original is simply majestic to me, my favourite black opium, with a prominent cherry note, not sickly sweet, playfull, yet sexy. I ordered the dupe at the end of November and after 4 months it still smells the same - very sweet, quite childish, a little linear with almost no cherry to detect. It’s not horrible, but Opera Rouge unfortunately lacks all the magic Over Red has, so in my opinion, you’d be better off sticking to the original with this one. Overall: the original wins, this one is 5/10

I love this one! Opening is very citrusy, then cherry. In my opinion the drydown smells a little synthetic, but overall very pleasing, and the lingering scent is beautiful. Still smell it on my sweatshirt a couple days later. Just a little coffee in this to my nose. Very happy with my purchase! Update: made another review up above, but no longer love this one; now smells plastic-like and sickly sweet

Updating my review... idk what changed, I absolutely loved it at first, but now I can't stand it. I tried waiting for two months to see if my opinion would change back, but it did not. Just overly sweet, synthetic smell. I don't know what happened -- not sure if I changed, or the perfume did, but now it feels wayyyy too heavy

I got this fragrance last winter and only now sprayed it on my clothes. I love it! I can smell sweet cherry, it's also flowery with vanilla. I love the scent of aromatic coffee beans, but can't stand the strong smell of freshly brewed coffee, this fragrance doesn't have that unpleasant odour. To me it smells like a very fragrant dark red burgundy carnation. Not for hot summer days, cool and cold days are the perfect time to wear this comforting and alluring fragrance.

It’s synthetic, bad performance and barely develops. On clothes there is a hint of the classic Black Opium scent, but it is not as strong and powerful. I have a decant of Black Opium Over Red, and it opens wonderfully with notes of cherry, jasmine tea and the classic Black Opium base. But this one feels like it has been diluted with alcohol and water. A total disappointment with no longevity whatsoever.

I like it, Very similar to Ariana Grande, Cloud. I just sprayed. Cloud on one wrist, Rouge on the other. Dry down is almost the same. Cloud is slightly stronger with tiny bit more citrus, While Rouge is a tiny bit more floral.

I might enjoy the scent of this more than the original. Slightly less sharp, cherry less prominent, a bit more coffee maybe. Doesn't last for shit but for the price point Ive got zero complaints. Love this!
