Oud Al Amir

Glad to see this classic survived house’s name change. The smell often reminds me of the sauce for Fesenjan, not sure why haha. Maybe adding honey to the often-olive-ish Cambodian oud makes it walnutty? Haha.

For the price, this is a strong and viril Oud scent, perfect for the colder months. performance is good.

Harsh, sweet and potent, very sweaty and honeyed hay-like, dense and very oily thick in texture. An image of a ferocious tiger for some reason comes in my head, something that makes me associate this to a Royal Bengal Tiger, in the woods, majestically moving in a marshy jungle. This was a challenging scent for me initially, but it's slowly growing on me, as my perception changes on every wear, truly complex and a great entry to the exploratory alluring magic of oud as a note. The dry fruits, caramel vibe and smokiness envelope the robust oud, this is slightly similar to Oud Al Fares from this house, but this packs a little more punch. Definitely worth sampling for those into Oud oils.

This is the first from this house that I feel it's going to take me a while to appreciate. When I first put this on, I was reminded of Laphroaig Scotch. It had a very powerful woody and almost medicinal scent which I can only assume comes from the oud. In time, things calm down a bit and the smoke almost some of the sweetness shows, but still only in the background. This is still a very wood heavy, male scent to me throughout. I'll have to give this some more wearings to see how it grows on me. Right now, I don't love it but don't hate it. It's just one of those scents that I would have to be in a very particular mood to wear.

Discontinued, you should consider Dragon Oud Z, ending the legacy of Oud Al Amir and Dragon Oud ( I am the owner of the brand)
