Terre d’Inde

I bought this perfume at Les Senteurs in London, so it will always have that lovely memory attached to it~ but even beyond that this is really something special. This is such a masterful blend, with a beautiful non linear life to it. On my skin it starts off with the fresh tangerine and a powdery facet (the orris, I guess) before I really get a lot of sweet almost fruity saffron. The saffron blends so well with the sueded leather and amber that it transitions into. This is a sexy intimate hug of a scent. Moderate projection, good longevity. Very unisex.

This was my first experience with Maison de l’Asie, and honestly, it was a great surprise. The scent smells fantastic, and it has a great quality. To my nose, it opens slightly fruity with a touch of citrus. In the middle, it shifts into a more soapy, somewhat “grandma soap” territory — not unpleasant, just classic and clean. As it dries down, it becomes fresh, smooth, and very pleasant. Interestingly, I don’t pick up much sandalwood. Performance is excellent. I got over 12 hours on my skin. Projection is moderate — it’s not loud, but people will notice it when you pass by. Overall, it’s a high-quality fragrance that feels distinctive and refined. Given the price point, I’d recommend sampling first before committing to a full bottle.

This is such a gorgeous scent and I’ve been using a decant for a few days now. The tartness of the bitter orange is smoothed out by powdery orris and you get to enjoy the opening notes as they deepen through the mid to base layers. It’s beautifully complex. This is a warm enough scent for cool spring nights to fall days. I could imagine this would have been perfect for the heat of summer nights to let the scent shine. Unfortunately, on my skin the performance is awful and it turned into nearly nothing after 3 hours. For the cost, this isn’t a fragrance I’d be happy overspraying or reapplying frequently throughout the day.

On my skin, smells like creamy orris root, oranges, white florals tuberose, sandalwood, very light spices, slightly green in the opening. Dries down to a creamy slightly floral orris root and slight hints of leather. Longevity 8hrs. Projection 5/10. Overall 7/10

Purchased a small test vial as the description & articles I’ve read lead me to believe I’d love this. Starts of fruity, soft and (weirdly) I get a touch of mint! Disappointed actually, it’s not “revolutionary” enough for me to love it. I was hoping for a OMG scent that I couldn’t put down, unfortunately it is not on my skin. For me the performance is awful and it all but disappeared in under 2-3 hours. I’d agree with previous reviews that for the $ and performance; this isn’t a fragrance that warrants purchase a full bottle. I’ll enjoy the test vial, but also want to try God and Moon also, although I will expect similar performance.

I'm enjoying this immensely. It is not a similar fragrance to Bal d'Afrique but I would say they are cousins. BdF has more of sunny, daytime feel and this is more golden hour going into the evening. I love the bright citrus opening mellowed by the slightly buttery iris and rounded out by the spices. Saffron and leather are such a beautiful pairing to me and I really love them in the drydown combined with a slight but very pleasing powderyness. This is a beautiful fragrance and I'm keen to explore more from this brand.

Strong Evernyl on the drydown. This does not smell natural, can’t see any relation to India.
