Adouala

Oh. Adouala smells like wood, smoke and... Pork. Like an expensive smoked ham. It also reminds me of a sauna, with its aromatic spices and cedar wood, but the weird meaty note makes it unwearable to me. It might be the cumin that does this - it's a spice that can sometimes feel animalic and sweaty, but on the other hand I never found it really meaty smelling, so I'm not sure. There are also some other, more approachable spices here: I find the whole scent kind of peppery and get lots of cloves with a little cinnamon. This does get better as it dries down, the woods and spices feel very dry but not scratchy, which is nice... But I can't get over the ham note I smell in the opening and heart. It gives the scent a metallic edge that makes me want to wash it off quickly. I would only recommend this to adventurous people with a strong stomach, and even then... There are so many spicy, woody and smokey fragrances that aren't reminiscent of pork at any stage, so why bother. Especially as this is very hard to find. There aren't many reviews on this, so maybe it's just my nose being overly sensitive to something... I feel a little uncomfortable to write such a weird review, but in the end I just want to express my honest opinion on the scents I try.

Spice incense bomb. It's quite spicy with hints of smokes & incense. It has cumin as the dominant note hand by hand with cloves, and incense, sweetened by hints of cinnamon. The patchouli is there but quite weak. I can't detect juniper, or rose. fair.
