Dark, smoky bar. Kinda sleazy. Smell of cigars and cigarettes linger in the air and on the patrons who have just gone outside to smoke. Its starting to cling to your leather jacket and even though you're not a smoker, you smell like one. You order a fruity tropical drink for funsies. Slight whiff of cleaning products & urine waft from the mens bathroom when the door opens along with a too bright beam of light... That pretty much sums up this fragrance for me. I smell the tobacco and leather the most and inly has a slight if hint of sweet fruit to me. The only thing that makes this remotely tropical smelling to me is a touch if coconut, which isn't even listed in the notes- unless its lumped in with the tropical fruit notes. There is a sweetness but doesn't scream vanilla. I don't love this scent but i don't hate it either. I just got the sample in a discovery set and this is my first time wearing it. So maybe ill change my mind... UPDATE: After about an hour, the smoke dissolves to just a faint memory and the leather goes from sleazy to dignified as the makers scent profile description.

This was provided with my order of other samples and travel sizes, so the fact that this one isn't my jam isn't terribly surprising or any kind of condemnation - I'm sure plenty of other people will be very into this, but most fruity scents really don't work for me at all. On my skin, Closer opens with some bright, somewhat synthetic fruits; it's a bit teen body spray but I think that of a lot of fruity scents other people adore. As it dries down, I find a bit of sharpness that could be the leather underneath all the fruit, and some fuzzy skin musk as well. The booziness shares some DNA with Holiday on the drydown, reinforced by the musk and leather; it's masculine but approachable. Unfortunately, the fruit really ruins it for me. It feels like being offered candy from a white panel van. If Holiday is a guy who looks skeevy at first but has a heart of gold, Closer is a guy who looks nice at first but when he brings you back to his apartment, you can smell his girlfriend's shampoo on his pillows. It's sexy, for sure, but it's just not for me.

MDA truly does leather and tobacco better than anyone, and Closer is a prime example—warm, sexy, and totally again, addictive. Total love. 10/10.
