Bois Sacré

This is a great scent for lovers of powdery and iris scents. Also a great alternative to Dior Homme Parfum (older formulation by Francois Demachy) as it is equally potent. This is a fresher (but not a fresh scent) and more powdery take on that style. I will however warn that its powdery nature can be overwhelming - even more than Dior Homme Parfum. So spray this in moderation as it could choke you out. Good smell and sillage. Projection and longevity is also 5/5 as it’s a very overpowering smell.

A comforting cloud-like fragrance for the non-gourmand girlies. A beautifully dry orris pulls along creamy woods, hazelnut, and a touch of tonka to create the elegance of a double-faced taupe suede jacket engulfing you. It’s cocooning and comfortable but as chic as can be, lacking any substantial sweetness. If you seek elegance and like scents in the woody/nutty/iris direction, this one is special. And at the price point, it better be.

Just when I thought I've discovered every theme around Iris, Bois Sacre comes along and blows me away. The creamy, nutty gourmand accord wrapped around a central iris note is lovely. The iris is dry, diffusive and somewhere between rooty and powdery. To me, the sweet praline-like aura isn't overly sweet. Just rich enough to evoke a whiff of cappuccino sitting next to some kind of baked goods. I don't detect oud or patchouli. But thirty minutes in, a creamy sandalwood and coumarin cloud hovers like fog against a purple sky of iris. Beautifully done.
