It's not a powdery overpowering rose or cheap rose water type Fragrance . This one smells like real fresh, sweet, juicy, dewy rose and smells expensive. It's like a fresh bouquet of pink roses with hints of Powdery violets,cedar and musk. Cedar and Musk is really noticeable on the Drydown but two types of roses are the centre of this Perfume. 🌹 This Perfume is really uplifting and mesmerising. This is a clean inoffensive scent. And it's suitable for all kinds of formal or informal occasions. It's kind of romantic, innocent, gentle and comforting ❤️ 🌹If you love the smell of rose but you can't tolerate too much Strong perfume this Fragrance is for you. It's not overpowering or cloying so those who get migraine headaches from strong fragrances can use this Perfume without facing any problems. 🌹 Longevity- On my skin I get around 6+ hours and on clothes I get around 7+ hours of longevity. Performs better in warmer but less humid days from my experience. Apply a little on your hair(with a good hair serum) to get better performance and longevity. 🌹 Sillage & Projection- It's a close to skin scent. For the first 1-2 hours people within your hands distance will be able to smell this Perfume but after that gradually it will become a skin Scent and only when someone hugs you theywill be able to smell the perfume on you. I got an 11 ml bottle of a La Rose in a Maison Francis Kurkdjian wardrobe set of fragrances, that I ordered from Nordstrom during their anniversary sale, for 20% off of the regular price of $275, so I paid $220 for the whole set of eight fragrances. I chose one of the two "feminine" sets, because this one included Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, Grand Soir, and Oud Satin Mood EDP, and I had really been wanting to try Oud Satin Mood and BR540. I did the math, by looking up the full bottle prices for each fragrance in the set, so Aqua Media Cologne Forte, this (a La Rose, the only feminine fragrance in the set), 724, Petit Matin, Gentle Fluidity Gold, Oud Satin Mood EDP, Grand Soir, and Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, and added it all up. I think it was $2,320 for 70 ml bottles of each, so to figure out how much I had paid for each one, I divided the individual price by that total, so for example the BR540 was $475, so divided by $2,320 and got 0.2047. I then multiplied that by $220 (the price I paid for the wardrobe set) and got just over $45! If they sold that alone, then it would never stay in stock! My point is that the wardrobe set is a really good deal! I would probably estimate that a La Rose is my least used so far, out of the eight 11 ml bottles. I definitely like it, but I have other rose fragrances that I use a lot more, like Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade, MFK Oud Silk Mood Extrait (because I have a 70 ml bottle), or even my 11 ml bottle of Oud Satin Mood EDP, or my 7 ml splash bottle of Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady. I definitely don't regret buying the wardrobe set, but I'm not sure if I would have bought a La Rose, if I could have just excluded it from the set and gotten a lower price. I'm glad that I got to try it, but I'm not sure if I will ever buy a full bottle. I'm hoping to buy another wardrobe set next summer during the anniversary sale again!

This is probably the only perfume by Maison Francis Kurkdijan that I really like! It is very feminine, sweet, floral, classy, sophisticated and romantic smelling. As per the description, it does really smell like something that Marie Antoinette would wear... I can imagine her with her white powdered hair piled up high and dressed in a powder blue roccoco dress while holding a pink rose as I smell this! À La Rose opens up with a bright and happy citrus smell from both the bergamot and the orange, but it doesn't overpower the composition and is very similar to the citric nuances you'd find in a real rose. I then smell a very sweet, powdery, lush, romantic and naturalistic pink rose that tickles my nostrils and makes me breathe a happy sigh of relief. It smells very quintessentially French, like a field of roses in Grasse. I smell the violet the most after the rose and it emphasizes the powderiness one finds in a rose. I sense a hint of magnolia too, but it is only faint. I finally smell a hint of the musk and cedar wood in the dry down, but it is only very subtle and it adds depth, dimension and longevity to À La Rose's composition. It doesn't take away from the rosy smell of this fragrance too and I can also smell more of the violet in the dry down as it dissipates. This perfume lasted an impressive 10 and a half hours on me and its sillage was a happy medium, so it definitely wouldn't offend anyone or choke anyone out and I think it is office safe. I feel like it would smell great in both the spring and the summer too. This isn't my absolute favorite rose fragrance ever, (that title goes to Rose Absolue by Annick Goutal) but I'd say it is a close second for me. All in all, I'd give À La Rose by Maison Francis Kurkdijan an 8.8/10.

I am so, so picky with my roses. I like roses in real life, but I'm usually not a fan when it comes to rose in perfumes. I often find them to be just too overwhelming and cloying and the very sweet jammy roses can really turn my stomach or set off a migraine. The more sensual, deep roses give me old dusty dirty vibes. There have been roses I like but I've never encountered a true rose perfume that I would say I love, but I love a la Rose. This is the freshest, brightest, most realistic rose fragrance I have ever smelled. When I spray this, I am sitting in a rose garden in the early morning. There's dew on the grass and there are fresh cut roses on the table. Maybe there's a lemon tree in this garden as well. This is not a dark heavy gothic rose, rather it is light and bright and happy. This is so feminine and pretty and I also think it's one of those scents that feels just ageless/timeless. A young girl could wear this as well as a more mature woman. In terms of performance, a la Rose has moderate projection (this is no BR 50) and lasts about 3-4 hours. I also think it will be a bit too fresh and bright for really cold days but for the realism of the rose itself none of this matters to me. I'll happily reapply and at the expense of my bank account, happily rebuy as well. I have been playing around with layering this with a woodier scent in the cooler mornings (specifically Santal Blanc by Van Cleef and Arpels) to help give it a bit more depth and I am liking the combo. It's still a fresh rose but the extra woody boost just helps ground it some.

Oh wow... This is THE ROSE. Bravo Francis Kurkdjian. This is a dream. It is a proud garden rose, almost a true smell, with all the nuances of that citrusy tinge full-blooming roses have. It smells like a rose in her most glorious days, petals just unfurled, young, but mature bloom on sunny days. This is femininity in a bottle. It makes me week in the knees, such beauty. Don't bother with the "similar to/reminds me of" comparisons, there is no other perfume that smells exactly like this. None of the mentions can compare. Delina is A la Rose's futuristic sister, she is all neon, latex, ultra-chemical. And A la Rose is a natural, fragile and tender beauty. I wish it lasted just a bit longer. But this is a perfect pink, fresh, dewy, true rose scent for everyday wear, morning glow, relaxation before bed... It feels like immersing yourself in an eternal beauty fountain. K-beauty admirers could love this. Update: Been testing this from my decant for two months now and I just can't get enough of it, it seems so simple, but what a true perfection, this is what true luxury is, a simple thing made to such heights. Easily the best dewy, pink, soft rose I have ever smelled in my life. Let's hope it never goes through reformulations. On the skin it barely stays on few hours, but on fluffy cotton garments - three days. Another update: One perfume that might come close to this is Un Zeste de Rose by Les Perfumes de Rosine. But Rosine's version is even more citrus forward, it seems.

Starting with my general thoughts on ALR, then moving into comparisons: ALR is the kind of fragrance that can carry you away in its photorealism. The star of the show, a genuine, dewy, fully bloomed and fragrant sun-warmed pink rose. It’s supporting characters, a barely there sweet citrus to help you taste the rose and a soft musk to lift it ethereally from your skin. Yes there are a lot of rose fragrances, but none like this. I wear this in warm weather because it’s meant for brightness, but in the dead of winter, it brings that spring brightness to me and lasts all day. It’s not soapy or clean, but juicy! Nice pink rose scent, natural smelling and balanced, though I would have liked it a little greener and more dewy. It’s lovely enough and it does smell refined, but boring and abit too simplistic on its own. My favorite way to wear it is layered with Feminin Pluriel. Longevity is moderate, so is the sillage. Overpriced for what it is. I actually prefer Dior’s Kabuki Rose or La Colle Noir to A La Rose, Kabuki Rose is more dewy-fresh and abit greener than A La Rose, and La Colle Noir is abit more complex with better sillage and longevity. I purchased A La Rose and Feminin Pluriel together, only because the travel sized sprays (3x11ml) were on sale, they’re great for semi-formal or formal situations when I need something elegant and refined, but ‘safe’, clean, and suitable for our subtropical desert climate...perfect size to carry around for touch-ups. I‘ll save them for that purpose but I won’t repurchase when I run out.

I'm a fool for the intoxicating rose. The rose gives me a high. I thought I would love this one, but it is weak and doesn't sit on my skin for long. It is still a fresh, soapy, clean rose which will do well in an office setting, in the summer, or when you don't want to punch someone on the head with your perfume. But, I was expecting something much more complex and imaginative from MFK, so I am a bit disappointed. I own so many cheaper rosy fragrances that are a knockout, so this travel size vial, sits in my drawer. This might get listed in my Mercari soon. Message me if you are interested. WEAR UPDATE: I posted my previous review in March when it was frigid outside. This rose just wouldn't wake up from its winter slumber. Now it is May and the weather is warmer! This flower is blooming and I am loving the soft floral notes that are sophisticated and ladylike. It's a keeper!

I bought this recently and I’m absolutely in love with it.. such a beautiful rose fragrance. I smelt it in harrods and I just couldn’t leave without a bottle, fresh rose with some sweetness and a clean musky woody base. Honestly it’s absolutely beautiful I really love rose fragrances so I just knew I couldn’t leave it behind. I also bought the hair perfume to ,if you like this fragrance but can’t justify the price pick up the hair perfume it’s just as good. Lasts for hours on my skin and clothes I wore this in the day and I wore it again on the weekend and I layered it with MFK gentle fluidity gold beautiful combination the amount of compliments I got was insane but both fragrances are absolutely gorgeous. The men’s version I smelt too oh wow yes it’s stunning a woody rose I loved it too they gave me 4 samples of it and couple others which was so lovely of them.

This is really gorgeous. I had initially tried MFKBR540 and was sadly a little underwhelmed. While I liked certain aspects of it, the burnt sugary notes whizzing back and forth were a little much for me. A La Rose, however is lovely. I applied two sprays to my neck this afternoon at 6pm, it's now 3am and I am getting the most beautiful cloud enveloping my space. This feels like gentle moments of velvety rose that flit in and out of the experience. I hate to sound trite, but this fragrance is just that... A experience. The cedar continues to develop over and over again in a complex, yet creamy, dreamy, way. The more I wear this, the more I find it endlessly comforting. It's like a calming hug that I don't want to end. I appreciate how effortlessly pleasurable wearing this has been. Thank you MFK

This is an ethereal, dewy fresh and rich creation. In my opinion it's a fairy like, princess-ly elegant, photorealistic, luxurious and truly natural smelling dreamy rose fragrance. The rose absolutum what is used in this composition is very high quality. And this fragrance is not that usual citrusy rose, i can feel here not just the citrusy aspect of the flower, but that very light, mild and mellow buttery-creamy facet of the rose as well. This mild and light creaminess is highligted from the vackground by the light waxy facet of magnolia. And by time the rose get some soft powdery aspect by the fragile and innocent smelling violet & musk. Usually I'm not Rose lover, but this one is truly divine...For me this is the perfect dainty & tender rose fragrance so far.♡

Very fresh, playful citrusy rose fragrance. Well done, like all MFC perfumes but not necessarily innovative like some of their other scents. I actually bought it as it was referred to be similar to Baby Doll by YSL, one of my best spring perfumes in the 00's (y'all get nostalgic sometimes, don't you?). The opening is pretty similar to Baby Doll but instead of remaining a citrusy rose blast and fading away in a couple of hours, this one becomes a subtle rose perfume that lives up to its name till the end. The musk and the cedar are very faint but well put there to make the dry down deep, sweet and almost powdery. It's a great perfume for spring and summer and makes you feel optimistic, so make sure you wear it at the office.

This is the most realistic rose fragrance that I have ever smelled. My grandfather was a keen gardener and he had a garden full of roses, of different varieties, inluding the Damascus, Turkish and Bulgarian roses. This is the exact same smell that I remember from my childhood, the scent of my granddad's beautiful rose garden. Now, I don't know the 'recipe' for this fragrance and how much of it is the actual rose oil, but it sure smells incredibly natural and realistic to me. I don't get many other notes - to me, this is just her gorgeous majesty the queen of flowers through and through. P.S. Perhaps this was once only available in Japan, but nowadays it is sold at every MFK counter worldwide.

I have a big garden where I grow Turkish roses. I harvest those roses in the early morning hours of spring and early summer. I sell the good ones before evening and keep some for myself to make jam. I separate the petals from the cheeks of the roses while making the jam, at this point a beautiful scent fills my hands and that very scent is exactly A La Rose herself. An extremely realistic and enchanting interpretation of roses. If it were a little more long-lasting, I would use it all year round, but one of the things that makes this scent beautiful is its shy innocence ofcourse. It is beautiful but delicate, just like pink Turkish roses which should be enjoyed for a lifetime.

The best rose perfume I've ever smelled. Great job Francis. No wonder it was initially released on Japanese market. Japanese enjoy more refined and minimalistic things, as opposed to some loud, complex and potent scents enjoyed in the West. It may be actually offensive to invade other people's personal space with a loud fragrance in Japan. The scent is elegant, wearable, pleasant, inoffensive, minimalistic. Light and feminine - beautiful. It's not sharp or heavy like many other rose fragrances may seem. I'm not a fan of rose perfumes but this is the only one I'd buy (MFK L'eau A La Rose, Cartier Pur Rose and Guerlain Rossa Rosa are among the top as well).

A beautiful green soapy rose. This is the kind of perfume you wear to a casual tea party or brunch. It's fresh, citrusy and sweet. Such a classy daily wear scent. It reminds me of a J&J tv commercial of a sweet teen girl dancing on the fresh grass in a bright spring garden in a flowy yellow dress. Blue skies and a steady cool breeze. At first whiff it is almost the same as the body shop's British Rose scent and after a few minutes it transforms into a very soapy rose. I love that it's not powdery at all. Smells like you just took a bath and splashed on rose water. I'm into it. Love it so much.

A La Rose is a masterpiece. It is the cleanest, most direct expression of rose I’ve ever worn. It is airy, fresh, and very easy to wear. There’s no heavy musk, or powder, nothing to distract from the rose petals themselves. Just rose perfection. It truly stands out even among the greats in my wardrobe. It is now one of my all-time favorites! I can't wait to explore other MFK fragrances! I think this is a safe blind buy for people who enjoy rose fragrances. Moderate projection and longevity. I Love wearing in La Rosa in warm weather because it is so light and clean.

It’s a very realistic rose scent, reminds me of gardening roses and that heavenly smell when it finally blooms to its full potential! It is perfect for spring and summer, I would even wear this in the autumn. It lasted a long time on my skin, around 4+ hours. I would consider buying the 35ml bottle however I had to put on at least 4 sprays just so I could see the longevity of it which means that I’d definitely run out of a 35ml bottle quite fast if I used this everyday. I wish the price was significantly lower because then I’d buy it in an instant!

loved this enough to be devastated that my sample ran out but not enough to fork over the cost of a full bottle. great performance but not cloying or overpowering at all. i keep catching whiffs of myself and am happy but dont think this would make many people uncomfortable. this smells like a rosewater frosting ? or like a rose tea? smells less like a photoreal rose and more like the essence of it, surprised amber isnt listed as theres almost a benzoin-y balsam-y ness to it as it dries. if u are in a different tax bracket than me this is for you

She is the prettiest floral fragrance. The best word I can use to describe this fragrance is “pretty”. She’s such a lovely, simple fragrance that smells like a pretty lady. I’ve never cared for floral fragrances and have always leaned towards gourmand but this scent has completely changed my mind. She is signature scent worthy and the only scent that I want to smell like. I want my entire body, house, and being to smell like this fragrance. She is just so rosey and beautiful. ~ My absolute favorite of all of the MFK fragrances. ❥

It will always be in my top 5 favorite perfumes for the rest of my life. With all due respect, some people have stated that this scent is only a realistic rose scent; even a rose water scent. Sis, lets try: place a landscape with high freshness of nature in a perfume bottle that is accessible at all times, than i will respect to your ideas ok? Also I must say that, this fragrance is amazingly beautiful on my skin; on the days when I use it, someone always/ mustly asks to me, which perfume I did wear.

This is the most photorealistic rose I’ve ever tried. Both my grandmothers and also my mom have/had roses in their gardens. This is exactly how a rose in bloom smells like, on a sunny June morning in central Europe, with a bit of raindrops on its leaves. It is so pure, fresh and incredibly delicate. I only wish it would last longer - the beautiful dewy rose scent lasts for about 45 minutes on my skin before it disappears. So disappointing it’s not more concentrated for this price tag.

I bought this in anticipation of spring during dreary winter weather. On the paper, it smelled like a nice rose fragrance. But when sprayed on skin, it is the freshest of fresh pink roses, wet with rain, and truly beautiful. I dont smell powder but just wet fresh pink roses, the kind that greets you in the garden after a drizzle - the fragrance transported me to a bouquet of wet roses - wet wet wet and fresh. One of the exceptional rose fragrances out there. I recommend.

It is a wonderful, fresh, greenish rose, not old-lady like at all, instead it is quite pungent and vibrant. Must be the bergamot/ citrusy notes in it, which makes it a bit sour (more than L'Eau À La Rose, which is a lot lighter and a bit sweeter). I wish there was a version with peony in it as well. Overall it is just wonderful. But it may not be the most original, groundbreaking scent and the price is too much. The drydown is a bit soapy. I personally prefer l'Eau.

i have a few rose perfumes,TF Rose Prick, Dior Rose and Roses, Aerin Evening Rose, LV Rose Des Vents, you name em, BUT..A La Rose is a game changer....i can change my minds many times about rose perfumes but I always go back to this. It's beautiful smooth creamy milky rose thats so delicate and lovely...I imagine LISA from the movie Wicker Park to wear this, perfect for her. this will be my ultimate rose perfume ever.

Great to fall in love, great to get married, or your birthday in summer-spring season, taking a spring walk with your lover in the green, blooming park. Walking in that pink rose garden at one late serene night and closing your eyes, smelling deeply, staying in the moment of pink rose scent around you, smiling your eyes closed...

I tried this in a store and I instantly loved it. It is a very natural smelling rose, very elegant and adult. I may be biased as I love rose as a note, but this is great to me. I wish I had this perfume, but I don't think I'll ever buy it because it's pretty expensive for my standards. On me it lasted for a long time, although it stayed pretty close to the skin. If you don't like rose, skip this one.

I'm a man who loves rosy perfumes and I LOVE this one more than the male version. Clean musky VIVID roses with creamy vibes. It's very special but the only bad thing about it is mid projection and longevity. projection is fairly intimiate, people have to get very close to smell you. not a room filler. safe for closed rooms and personal encounters if you know what i mean

I’m saving up for a bottle. I love to wear this when I’m menstruating, it just smells so good on my hormonal skin. The rose and musk work magic on my pheromones. Not even a fan of rose notes— until I met her. The musk is addictive. This is such an inoffensive rose parfum, truly a special MK creation. It will always have a place on my vanity. Very uplifting as well.

Another great perfume from this house! This is a photorealistic rose scent just like the name suggests. I see a lot of people complaining about longevity but on my skin I do get a good 3-6 hours of staying power. The violet note gives it a slight powdery feel. This is a must have though for anyone who loves rose scents. Perfect for a spring day.

Light and refreshing! I loved the sample I got so much I purchased a full bottle. Definitely not a "boss-girl" type fragrance but more for when you want to feel pulled together, refined, and professional. I would wear this at a job interview, it's poised without being heavy, I think both older and younger women could wear it easily.

This is so subtle yet extremely sophisticated. For having 500+ bottle of perfume this is my favorite. I do love to wear more of an oud, dark, leather, ink, cedar, woodsy smelling perfume. However in the spring I preferred this type of rose. This is my second bottle aswell so that tells me I really love it.

Used to hate rose in perfumes so much, but when I smelled this one I fell in love. It is such an expensive, light rose fragrance. Very feminine, brought me so many compliments. The thing is that I can't smell it after 1 hour and I was wondering if it has poor longevity or it's just me

Oh I love this rose. This is the most perfect rose perfume I have ever smelled. It is perfectly gorgeous with a hint of musk and magnolia. I also like to layer this on top of the baccarat rouge 540. The added rose gives a real feminine edge and I can’t stop sniffing myself. 😍

If I could write a love letter to this fragrance, I would. It’s soft and floral and feminine. Almost a little salty in the best possible way there’s a nice splash of citrus, and it reminds me of a bright spring day. The perfect rose for when you want to feel like a girl.

My brother owns Aqua universalis and I can say A la rose smells the same with rose in it. Maybe it's the citrus. It overpowers the rose scent. I would have loved if the rose was the dominant one. Nonetheless it's a beautiful perfume and I love it.

Opens citrusy notes, very fresh! Then quickly moves into the almost Turkish delight rose scent to me maybe it’s not a fresh rose as its heaviness is enhanced by musk. Nice every day scent if you like rose, but not mind blowing.

Has good longevity for me, and I find a depth here I don't in other rose scents. That being said, I like my perfumes to be a little more complex or even wandering, and this is very singular and specific.

I am one of those cheesy people who actually does stop to smell the roses. I absolutely love the scent of roses. This smells like a realistic rose and I will be buying a bottle of this.

I agree with those who describe this as a safe or delicate rose and as a quiet rose. As that is indeed what it is to me as well. In the absolute initial whiff which is the moment I like the most with this fragrance it does indeed manage to capture the scent of a lighter pink rose petal with a dew drop sitting on it not yet picked up but still sitting in its natural habitat. In essence a very natural realistic fresh rose scent far away from the more cloying versions that we all have smelt one time or another on a grandmother or in a bubble bath somewhere. This is therefore an almost perfect delicate little rose for someone who would like to fall in love again with rose scents but are afraid of the cloying heavier bougie ones... Having said that I still find this a tiny bit boring, to be honest... it is so delicate and quiet that once the initial burst of fresh pink rose petal vanishes and leaves room for the dry down this becomes very faint on me, and I mean very faint to the point I need to work hard sometimes to even discern it. And I am not really a strong projection kind of girl but this is so faint that I believe it would be safe even in en environment with only people allergic to scents... if I really stick my nose into it once it has dried down what I then get is a mild powdery violet musky feel with a tiny reminder of cedar far far in the background and surrounded by a very very mild clean rose with a hint of citrus. So the notes are there, but oh so quiet and delicate. On me this lasts at most a few hours, and absolutely not until the next day. I admire those who do, as clearly some other reviewers do get a stronger projection and longer lasting effect from this which goes to show perfumes do wear individually! If you are choosing between this and the eau de toilette version l’ eau A La Rose I must say I personally prefer that to this. They are quite different though. The EdT l’eau is a more fruity sweet rose scent. Still a fresh pink rose. But with the fruity ness and the sweetness accompanying it and no powdery ness at all which changes the fragrance quite a bit. The EdT version also has stronger projection and lasts longer on me despite being a lesser concentration. It is also more girly in my opinion while the EdP A La Rose is more wearable for any sex at any age. Personally I like to mix them sometimes. In comparison with other lighter rose scents in my collection Byredo Young Rose is a lot more fruity citrusy. Armani Prive Rose Milano is a bit more mature and more powdery with stronger projection. Byredo (yet again) Rose of No Mans Land is similar to A la rose but with a more powerful performance and with perhaps a hint of red roses in the mix? Miss Dior Blooming bouquet is soapy and loud and a lot less sophisticated and Delina La Rose is a lot more sweet. ❣️

Maison Francis Kurkdjian is a solid brand with some showstopping fragrances. While I'm not a huge fan of Baccarat Rouge–way too medicinal and heavy on the ambergris for my tastes–I do rather like Á La Rose. It's a nice, approachable, user-friendly and accessible rose, floral fragrance. It's not necessarily groundbreaking–combining citrus, musk and light woods with rose is nothing new. However, this familiarity is part of the appeal of this fragrance. For what it does, it does it well. This is a soft, clean rose–nothing too fancy. It's quite balanced, with the other notes–mainly the top citrus notes and the bottom musk note–enhancing the main rose heart scent rather than accompanying it. The wood notes at the base–mainly the rather green hint of cedar–adds to the high-quality appeal of this fragrance. It adds that natural, aquatic edge that most other woods do not, and pairs well with the slightly powdery musk profile. Although violet and magnolia are listed in the fragrance profile, they are all but lost in the sea of rose, which is too bad. I do like this scent a lot. It's a good perfume for work, daywear, and perhaps could be useful for evening events. It's sweet, fresh, comforting and familiar. While a tad predictable–and there are many other impressive rose fragrances with similar scent profiles–Á La Rose is a solid and appealing fragrance with a broad appeal. I can't imagine many people disliking this.

À La Rose is a straightforward, fresh rose scent, dewy, sheer and rosewater-like. It is almost a soliflore, with citrus adding freshness to the opening and soft, clean musk in the base giving it a soft landing. It is reminiscent of perfumes like Paul Smith Rose or Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose, except that those are both bargains, unlike this. However, ALR is a beautifully-rendered, photorealistic wild rose in a bottle, bright and fresh initially, softening into a delicately powdery rose as it progresses. ALR is rosy from initial spray, dewy like rosewater, with some citrus adding freshness. I mostly get sweet orange. As it develops, the rose becomes more powdery, due in part to the violet. There is a subtle make-up quality to it as a result, but it remains primarily a rose scent. It becomes predictably musky as it fades, with soft woody notes rounding it out. The rose remains until final fade, light and delicate. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A softly feminine scent that is made for warm weather, ALR is an elegant, high-quality everyday scent for rose lovers. It is utterly timeless and classic in style, but is nothing groundbreaking and is expensive in comparison to similar scents. 3/5.
