Oud Silk Mood

MFK's Oud Silk Mood is a gorgeous fragrance but IMHO, you MUST wait for the dry-down! For me, the basenotes and dry-down are what make this fragrance stand out and shine. Even someone like me with limited perfume knowledge can tell this perfume is created with some fine ingredients...oud, rose, papyrus and chamomile...that's about it. Lovely. I warn the opening notes are intense, loud and almost vulgar...rubber, SMOKE & metallic notes jump out of the bottle, onto the skin & through the nose, showing no mercy! After initial application, I thought "Uh oh...oh no...this is gonna make me ill...this is gonna be a SCRUBBER!" All I could smell after initial application was something akin to burnt rubber...oud! Within 10-15 minutes, this EDP exposed its true glory with the longest lasting & loveliest wood (oud), musk-y, dark rose notes I have ever experienced. After 30-60 minutes, I could not stop enjoying the glow of the most gorgeous Bulgarian rose & wood-y oud fragrance I have ever experienced! MY husband kept commenting, "You smell GREAT when you walk by...is that the SAME PERFUME you HAD ON about 1 hour ago??? The SAME one??? Really??? You smell great...nice!" Silage!!! Give the perfume time and delight in the dry-down. This EDP is long lasting and is a beautifully warm, comforting floral (rose) & resinous fragrance. Silage is great & really pleasant. Definitely worthy of a sample try, if you like rose & oud AND you can wait for the dry-down!!!

This is the most perfect classic oud/rose perfume with a twist given by chamomile and papyrus. Leans more feminine, but it is devastating on a man (tested on my husband). The perfume itself opens with a crisp wave of chamomile, bergamot and fresh rose. After ten minutes the rose becomes more pronounced and the guaiac and oud start to appear. On my skin the oud is well present throughout the whole lifespan of the fragrance and not just in the drydown. For the first 4 hours is a blast, but then continues to whisper with 10+ hours longevity. It is glorious in late spring and summer, and a bit more austere in cold weather. I asked the saleslady whether this contains real oud and the answer was “of course”, but I can’t really be sure, since MFK uses both real and synthetic in his creations. Nevertheless, it is elegant and effortless. This is on my top three rose/oud combination, together with Taif Oud by Roja and Coexistence by Xerjoff, with the plus side that Oud Silk Mood is the cheaper of the three. To give the reader the full picture, I own more than 200 perfumes and this is one of the few that immediately made me fell in love directly on the perfume counter!

Oud silk mood, in my opinion, is a smoother, more refined take on the classic Oud Rose combo. When first sprayed I get a stemy green rose and chamomile. It is a surprisingly calming top that has a Parisian elegance to it! In the drydown the rose grows darker, it isn't jammy like in oud satin mood it is more like Serge Lutens La Fille De Berlin deep and seductive! The oud also begins to introduce itself, it is not very barn yard, it's a little smoky and clean. There are also green touches from what I think is the papyrus? The far drydown is linear becoming less and less floral as time goes on. Overall a very elegant and professional scent. I can see this in almost any situation, dressed down or up, at a fancy event or something more casual like work. I wouldn't wear it clubbing but I would on a date. It lasts 7-9 hours on my skin with moderate projection for a couple hours before sitting closer to the skin. Very elegant and classy! Anyone who is a fan of rose and oud should definitely check this out, it isn't ground breaking but it is one of the more refined, luxurious, and literally silky rose oud perfumes I've tried.

I already own MFK Oud Silk Mood Extrait du Parfum. It’s one of my favourite scents created by Francis Kurkdjian; in fact, it’s one of my favourite scents, period! It is so opulent, smooth, radiant, yet invigorating - just a perfect blend of rose, chamomile and oud. Its performance on my skin is out of this world and I always receive tons of compliments whenever I wear it - although some folks complain that it’s too strong. Naturally, I was curious to test Oud Silk Mood EDP. I’m wearing it right now and I’m happy to report that it is still pretty much the same scent. As expected, EDP is somewhat dilluted compared to the Extrait, so the opening is a bit crisper, and the fragrance has lost some of its lush density. Since I’m used to the Extrait, I will not be replacing it with the EDP; but those of you who are new to Oud Silk Mood can easily opt for the EDP, which comes at a slightly lower price point. As expected, its longevity is amazing, while its silage is moderate to strong, so it’s a bit more office-friendly than the unapologetic Extrait.

I've truly fallen in love with this fragrance, which is in the vein of Malone (Oud & Rose) but with a stronger intensity and a more "lemony" rose, then that MFK characteristic touch of refinement. The rose is (in my opinion) one of the most successful as it doesn't veer towards being too heavy or too soapy, and the oud remains very modern, quite restrained (more discreet than the brand's original oud). It doesn't play the card of the imposing male by burdening itself with organic notes or spices. I have other very successful roses (there are probably hundreds), but this one really strikes me as urban, chic, captured when the flower (gourmand and fleshy) radiates its freshness to your nostrils. So... yes, there are many roses, each with its own identity that will lead several people to name the opportune moment as THE fresh morning rose, as they perceive it. Undoubtedly unisex, this rose for men will mark a style leaning towards elegance and a form of seduction, less in a register of overly oriental affirmation.

[Tested on skin] In the opening, it's a fresh, clean coolness and very airy with floral notes, feeling quite feminine. There's also a light, fruity sweetness to it, maintaining that fresh, airy feel. Sillage is moderate-to-strong. Around 30 minutes in, the rose really shines through. It's still clean and airy fresh, but now it feels more unisex, with woodiness and clean musk coming through. It feels like a fresh, summery fragrance for me. It's a subtle and very clean oud, with clean rose and florals, giving off a super fresh and airy (but also watery) vibe. Compared to Satin Mood, this one is much fresher, less or not sweet at all, and has a clean musk that Satin Mood lacks. Sillage becomes moderate after about 2 hours. I like this (EdP) version better than the extrait: while the extrait has basically everything amped up plus some added depth and complexity in the first 1-2 hours, the drydown is nearly the same but with the extrait being stronger and slightly darker with more bitter undertones.

Ok this is what I said a couple of weeks ago after just testing on a paper strip: "For rose to be the top accord it's only faintly present. Lots of oud of course, but those top notes barely pull through. This feels more like a luxe take on the crisp green forest-like perfume with a more feminine presentation. Besides that, Silk Mood is still a beautiful, mature fragrance. Just not for me." But that's my fault for just testing on a paper strip rather than on my skin; I have found in the last week or so that Ouds settle quite well on my skin and wear better than traditional woods, which I enjoy, but I'm growing to love Oud. This feels quite mature and refined, like I have my shit together. And it wears so well. I don't think I could've started my perfume journey with an oud cause it's they are such all consuming notes, but this is the rose tinged, silk blanket I just want to roll around in. Plus it's sexy, I don't have too many scents that make me feel sexy.

Everyone talks about Satin Mood, but where’s the love for Silk Mood? For me, it’s easily the superior out of the two. It takes that classic rose-oud combination and twists it into a bright, airy and refreshing daily wear which is easily signature scent worthy. The rose is very gentle and airy, sweet and dense and yet never becomes overpowering despite dominating the scent profile. The oud is gentle and subtle, the synthetic accord joining guaiac wood in a very smooth manner. Hedione is what makes this scent so addictive, the fresh white floral aspect is incredibly diffusive and gives you that clean linen feel which compliments the somewhat darker notes perfectly. I’m not usually a huge lover of MFK, and even here I don’t think the quality of materials is massively impressive, but I can’t deny that this scent simply smells damn good. It’s nothing flashy or revolutionary, but it’s such a satisfying wear.

I got a sample of this and the Satin Mood the other day, and I realize after a day of wearing both, that to me, Silk Mood is a superior fragrance to Satin. Silk mood is as it's name suggests, silky and flowing, The rose and oud intermingle perfectly without one overpowering the other. Is still heady and quite strong, but not nearly as strong and as someone else described, skanky as the oud in Satin. Satin almost grabs you by the nostrils with a very sharp astringent note that takes quite some time to die down. This fragrance has a wonderful floral rose component which lends to it cutting the harshness of the oud. Rose has such a powerful scent on it's own that it is perfectly capable of complimenting without being overpowered. This combination has a nice blend that reminds me of a cashmere woods note. It is VERY strong and a couple sprays will easily last 8 hours on your skin.

Finally got this one and honestly, Francis nailed it with the Oud line, one better than the other, they're all so good and different enough to have them all in my opinion. This is a powdery rose-oud combo without vanilla but it still has this sweetness which makes it elegant and sexy. I don't like the Extrait because it lacks the smothness that edp has, found the Extrait harsh, dry and too herbal. They're really different from each other. I'm wearing this edp today and tbh it's heavenly and it projects very well for hours, i can constantly smell it which surprises me because i wasn't expecting it to be that strong. Edit : This thing keeps performing on me after 7 hours and god knows my skin swallows every fragrance for breakkfast.

I got a mini roll on of this fragrance from Gus Mayers while Christmas shopping, and immediatly became was obsessed with the scent. I kept that roll on in my makeup bag for over a year only using it on fancy date nights, or whenever I wanted to smell extra sexy/mature. I finally got it for my 19th birthday from my parents and it's my go to for a night out. The smell is feminine, deep, strong, spicy, warm florals. The rose element is not a typical rose it's a deep sultry rose. Strong musk/oud. This fragrance might be too strong for casual every day usage however, it's perfect for a night out (especially if you want everyone to smell you, because this fragrance lasts forever and has amazing silage. I can smell myself all night!

I love the green and rose notes in this. The oud is not too overstated but it has a presence and blends nicely. Very intimate and cozy. This makes me want to curl up and drink tea right now in the winter, but during warmer seasons it has me feeling a very trendy, cool person vibe. Even though oud is such a classic perfume note, this is very modern to me, perhaps it’s something about the fact that it also smells like living plants. The projection and duration is solid but also this is the kind of scent I would mostly wear for myself. If you like other woody/plantlike scents and want an elevated, classically inspired take on those notes, this is highly recommended.

I received a sample of this over a year ago. I really thought I didn't like it. I have several MFK fragrances out of which OUD Satin Mood is one of my favorites. On a whim, I sprayed it on today. I don't know what's changed in a year, whether it's me, my nose, my surroundings, the sample, or all of the above, but today I couldn't stop sniffing it. Actually, I didn't have to put my nose close because the sillage is enormous. I didn't make detailed notes when I tried it, I only have "don't purchase full bottle - don't like" in my comments. Well, now I have to change it to "I'm never going to have any money because I have to purchase a full bottle" :-)

I didn’t grow up around Oud. I didn’t smell it on my father. I don’t know it’s history in perfumes. But I’ve sampled maybe 9 or 10 other Oud fragrances and this is the first one I absolutely love without reservations. I feel it just is so friendly and so smooth and inviting and sensual. It’s the first Oud I’ve thought is 100% not confined to a gender or age group. Just so wonderful. I think many in my age group and background will find this to be quite a more pleasant Oud than they are used to smelling. I’m a 25 yr old white male. Not many of my peers will touch Oud, but finally I feel like I have one that works beautifully with my skin and aura.

This is lovely. I don't understand the obsession around Oud Satin Mood and the "eh" attitude for this one by so many people. Not that Satin is bad. Satin is much more wet, jammy. This one smells more clean, fresh. The oud is very nice, and I love the way it's balanced with the florals and citrus and green. It just is a nice, clean oud fragrance that reminds me of the vibe of Silver Oud or Sahraa Oud or Oud Vert or Oud Bleu. All different fragrances of course, but this has that same kind of clean, crisp, fresh oud feel, with more floral notes. Lovely! 28M American here btw, if you care to hear where this opinion is coming from.

I have tested the sample for a few days and I am feeling kind of frustrated. This perfume is simply heavenly! It is so good but it is way out of my budget. If my wife see it with me, she will kill me without any hesitation. : ) It is fresh, luxurious, strong, super lasting and most importantly it smells like a million bucks. One spray on the chest and one at the back of the neck, you are set for a blissful day sniffing this magical concoction. I've also tried Oud Satin Mood but prefers this one because it is more versatile and slightly more masculine to me nose. 10/10 without any doubt.

To me, I blind bought this fragrance and to be honest, I am shocked I opened the fragrance for the first time and the packaging was amazing although the smell is not really something I think I’d wear in my everyday life. Instantly when I sprayed it, the whole room was filled up in a smell of roses. When I spread it on myself, I gave it some time and then I just got the feeling of roses and lemon. When I gave it more than 30 minutes to wear up on my skin the smell had a touch of oud Not a recommended blind buy. 7/10 Insane longevity

I've smelt cheap synthetic roses before, I've smelt high quality natural roses before but never have I smelled a rose so sensual and silky. It almost doesn't smell like rose which makes it pretty unisex in my book. I can smell the bergamot in the background too doing its bit to support the rose and give it some otherworldly tang. I think this and 724 are my favorites from Maison Kurdijian so far. BR540 never did anything for me but this and 724 do.

I love this! I was so surprised at how gorgeous and rosey it is. It really reminds me of Rose D’Arabie. It has similar elegance, realistic rose, the oud is lighter here though. But this fragrance isn’t heavy so I would wear it as an everyday fragrance. Satin Mood for me is horrible because although it’s sweet and rosey, the oud is extremely barnyard and overpowers (until the drydown). The oud here is perfect to me.

Love this scent SO much. My mom worked for Bloomingdale's when I was growing up, so I have a lot of scent memories from that mid-to-late-90's era and this brings me right back to the men's suits department she worked in. To be clear, I mean this as a compliment! This reads classy, sexy, confident, put together, all the things I love. Not something I'd personally reach for but would love to smell this on my partner.

For me that's heaven, it's another interpretation of Oud rose combination, adding bergamot, wood and chamomile to soften the resulted creation ( I don know the Hedione to judge its effect ) I cant say it is unique but i can assure it is smart perfume easily wearable and unisex, very long lasting with softness and calm, very classy and elegant compared to other perfumes from the same category LOVE LOVE and LOVE

Dont listen to what people say about this, its a masterpiece. Amazingly blended, smells like luxury, powerful, and is simple yet so complex at the same time. This takes satin mood and sweetens it up a little bit making the fragrance smell more palatable. The oud is woody, not animalic and the rose smells niche quality. This is a complement getter The only thing I would change is the price. Its a little high

This scent is truly gorgeous! I love it on myself and my husband! Maybe my husband a little more because it just is my absolute favorite when he walks by wearing it. The rose is prominent but the blend of the notes together in this one is truly harmonious! I know oud satin mood tends to get more acclaim, but this scent tops any of the other ouds in the mfk lineup for me!

love love love! I love this one more than Oud Satin Mood, likely because this one is less creamy hence increases the versatility. I often wear between Oud Silk Mood and SL La Fille de Berlin on cold rainy days. I don't know why, but they are just very fitted for the cold weather, the moisture level in the air, and the mood.

Sometimes I read users reviews like I am reading poetry and I do not understand how they come up with that just from the smell of a perfume. That was until today; today I received this wonderful juice, perfection in a bottle. I will not write poetry about it, but I will say that to me, this is the godfather of perfumes.

Gorgeous and approachable rose-oud, made smoother and 'lighter' with the subtle touches of guaiac wood and chamomile. It's strong on skin and in the air but it 'feels' soft as it lingers with your body heat, doesn't smother. Perfect for cool/colder seasons, you can definitely get away with this in the spring.

I’m in love with this fragrance, when i first sprayed it, i was met with intense rich oud. However, I gave it sometime to cool on my skin and it was beautiful. Very rosy very velvety and very calming and relaxing. It was truly a silk finish. I wanna bathe in this scent if I could, my new favorite for sure!

All time favorite. Have been debating making it my signature even though its not really versatile enough for that. To me this smells like sitting on my Tia's bed as she oils my hair. A very silky smooth rose. I put it on following my after work shower and wake up the next morning still smelling it.

I ordered this lovely sample from the MFK website. This is a silky blend of oud and rose. I find it light and refreshing. A joyful oud. It's long lasting and the sillage is moderate which is what I'm looking for in a fragrance. I wish it was a bit sweeter because I'm finding it a bit masculine.

100% agree with Isaaabeeelle. I feel I can use this all year around but with caution of numbers of spray depending on the weather. I feel so confident when I wear this perfume. I like the fact that this perfume does not have patchouli or vanilla or praline. It is super green, rosey, and oudy.

You have to love oud to love this and I love oud. This was collection worthy and treasure it. Gorgeous, creamy, big rose and oud composition. You have to be a rose lover and felt the quality of this rose was also like no other I have experienced.

I have no idea why I love the "Oud and Rose" fragrances. I like Silk Mood which is more unisex (more masculine) with woods,green notes and the oud is more prominent in the dry down. Perfect for dresser occasion in cold weather.

@perfume4everyone That’s how it smelled to me. There are many other oud fragrances I’ve tried that are more pleasant and don’t smell like that. I’ve also tried others that smell similar or worse. Fragrance is subjective.

smells fruity - like longan when you crack open the fruit's skin on a nice summer's day... the oud boosts the fruity scent. i don't get the floral bit but more fruity. i usually wear this on a night out in town!

i only have a small sample and i didn't really like this at first but i guess it's been sitting around in my sample box for a while and now it smells like bourbon. i really love it

I am currently on the hunt for a special fragrance for a special occasion. I am a firm believer of wearing something (fragrance) brand new for a special day; this way when you wear that fragrance in the future, it will always remind you of that day. My wedding perfume was Black Perfecto by La Petite Robe Noire - Guerlain. Although it is not my most fav scent, but whenever I wear it, it reminds me of my wedding day. And most importantly, my husband likes it. As a result of this hunt, I have a lot of perfumes shortlisted, and I am slowly trying to short list those fragrances that I will wear on the special occasion. In saying so, I was back and forth between MFK’s Silk, satin and oud. Watching different reviews and never clearly being able to make my mind which to settle for. I finally went to shop today and tried all 3 side by side. The one that called out to me the most was Silk. Second fav was oud mood. I immediately purchased silk, before I changed my mind. Now, as I was in shop I tried manyyy other fragrances (like you do) from Dyptique, Frederik Malle, Replica, Le Labo and ended up spraying a lot of those on diff parts of my clothes. After making my purchase of MFK Silk Mood and Replica’s when the rain stops, I headed back to work. After a long day when I came home and sat down, I kept smelling something interesting on me from somewhere. I kept thinking it might be Magnolia by Frederick Malle because I really liked it, or something else that I might have tried, but whatever it was, it was amazing and magical. After I couldn’t wait for 2 hours, I went to my perfume cupboard and resprayed Replica and Silk mood on each arm, and low and behold, it was my silk mood all this time, surprising me with a new depth, a new layer, every 5 minutes!! So long story short, (although I just gave you a long story): Silk mood is def a complex, long lasting, puzzling scent and whenever you wear it, you will get lost in yourself. You know how they say live in the moment, I think perfumes like these definitely are a big help with it. You get to enjoy yourself. Disconnect from what’s happening around you and indulge in the depth of that moment. I also sprayed Oud mood on my jacket, and when I smelt back, def liked it better that satin. In future I would like to buy Oud mood. So in closing, I will say- Longevity- 10 Silage- 10 Mystery- 11 Complexity-10 I have not smelt anything exactly like it, but if I could explain to someone which direction this fragrance goes it will be Black Orchid by Tom Ford and Shalimar By Guerlain. Again not at all similar, but similar signature. However, in saying that, the base/die down is the exact note match of Agent Prov. I sprayed both side by side and yup very very close. But only and only when Silk mood is dying down/ fading away. Or should I say as it departs. You can see my perfume wardrobe, if your taste is similar to mine, you will like this. I tend to love bold, solid, complex perfumes. Floral, spicy, woody, mature fruit will be my jam, but in saying that i love a lot of fragrances from nature (sandalwood, rose, white florals, driver, musk, oud, vetiver root, patchouli ..) I grow a lot of flowers in my garden as well. I have daphne, gardenia many varieties, multiple varieties of jasmine, Lily , rose, water Lily, rose, lemon blossom, orange blossom, misc white florals etc etc. also with age my taste is changing.

I do really enjoy this fragrance but I think it will forever remain in the shadow of the Extrait for multiple reasons... first let me get what it does better out first; the Oud. What is almost nonexistent in the Extrait to me, this dries down into a very classic, semi fecal (but not overly so) Oud. It is also not very strong. If you want a heavy semi rose fecal Oud that punches you in the face I think Oud Palao does this job much better. The Oud here gives you a little taste while still being something that isn’t shouty to those around you and could be perfectly suited for that occasion. Now on to differences that I think the Extrait does better... first, the chamomile. I don’t get this really much at all in the EdP but in the Extrait it is the basis for a lovely opening that stays on skin for almost a good hour. Chamomile is listed as a note in the EdP but it plays such a more predominant early note role in the Extrait that its inclusion in the notes here seems like almost an afterthought. Secondly, and a big one, the rose. The rose in the EdP is the open. Firmly and loudly. It is an absolutely gorgeous rose in both concentrations and FK has to fully be commended for something as beautiful as this. The Rose is the powerhouse of both scents and is the main attraction of your admission ticket. However, this is the opening note which fades in under an hour on the EdP, but the main dry down of the Extrait. It is so wonderful that for the price of admission, the rose really should be the main note. Advantage to the Extrait again. The feather in the cap for the Extrait is the performance. The projection and sillage phases last considerably longer, and can be detectable on skin for well over 12 hours. The EdP in contrast projects for probably a solid 1-1.5 hours but even as a skin scent is gone between hours 5 to 6. It wouldn’t be such a glaring issue if its bigger brother didn’t exist, but here we are. Both this, and the Extrait are absolutely gorgeous scents, don’t get me wrong... but the things that make this gorgeous are more prevalent and longer lasting in the Extrait. Spend the extra money and put it towards that. I think you’ll be happier.

I don’t think I have really 100% connected to an MFK scent so far but they are all super smooth and clean, expensive, nothing harsh or cheap. They also tend to feel “safe” - there’s not a lot of edge to them at all, nothing out of place in them except for my own small personal quarrels with the way that notes are presented and perhaps with notes I don’t like. They all smell good even if I don’t want to wear them. I am not a huge Oud lover but with this one I find myself wanting way more Oud and much less rose. I hardly smell any Oud. I don’t want skank but I want to at least smell it and while the rose doesn’t smell bad it is a bit overpowering. It is a very dry, spicy rose with no sweetness or freshness, kind of like a freshly opened bag of dried rose petals. This is why perhaps people are saying it smells mature. It lasts for quite a long time. One spray on the wrist and next 12 + hours of wear. Could see this being a signature for someone who loves Bulgarian rose. Editing this 2 months later to say that I've been wearing my travel size this quite a bit since I left my review, so clearly I have connected to it. So much that I am thinking of a bottle. I've grown to appreciate the spiciness of the rose and the oud is there, it's just very subtle and blended to perfection. Would love trying the extrait but I cannot find a sample. Also, since everyone is weighing in on this, they are two very different fragrances but I find Oud Satin Mood sickly sweet and synthetic and I cannot stand it.

Now. If you know, you know i am NOT an oud girlie. But everyone online kept INSISTING that I need to try a high quality oud perfume, because they swore up and down it was different. I decided to branch out and get a sample of this. And honestly? I’m a little blown away. I’m also VERY picky when it comes to rose fragrances, so getting this was kind of a shot in the dark (I got a sample, I didn’t blind buy, dont worry 😂) and while i WILL say this definitely gives vintage rose vibes... like a more mature rose, there’s nothing youthful about this perfume, it smells really good. The oud is definitely there. But it’s NOT super strong. The opening is mostly rose and chamomile, and you can smell a touch of the oud and papyrus sitting underneath. I could see how some people would say this smells “old lady”, but honestly, I think there’s a difference between old lady smells that smell elegant and mature and old lady smells that STINK. This one is the former, not the latter. Wow, I’m definitely going to have my grandma smell this (she loves rose), but I’ll be keeping my sample for myself. VERY pleasantly surprised at this. I’ll have to try oud satin mood next. Edit: for any ladies who want this to be a little smoother or sweeter, layer it with vanilla 28. It’s so good!

I'm going to have to pray over this one. Another blind buy potentially gone wrong. I was able to get this at a steal, so I jumped on it BUT this is the most unusual scent. I definitely didn't like it at first spray, but I'm going to continue to test it over the next few days to see if I can get on board. This is my first oud, so maybe I don't like ouds... This reminds me of hot herbal tea that you drink to relieve a sore throat with a bit of a menthol thrown in. My husband sniffed this one, and he did not get the tea feeling, but he also couldn't really put his finger on what this smelled like. He didn't say he didn't like it, but like me, he just doesn't know what to think. This one surely isn't my instinctual love. The smell is just so different from any other perfume I have experienced. Is that a good thing? Jury is still out. But, I would NOT NOT NOT recommend blind buying this... oh, and where is the rose??? That note continues to elude me. Edit: Day 2 - I’m starting to warm to the oud a little. I’m getting more accustomed to the scent, but it’s still a strange one in my opinion. Not super long-lasting, but I think this one will have its place and time to shine. We shall see.

This fragrance makes me think of Wayne and Garth and the "We're not worthy" bit from Wayne's World. Who is worthy enough to wear this? When would you wear this? What event would be the right vibe to match the luxury, complexity and seriousness of this oud mood? Brumbarch brings up an interesting point below: the wind really does activate the sillage here in a way that shows off the power of the projection. But when? It's far too formal for the farmers market, and in the era of masks, could anyone truly appreciate it? Oddly, I feel like this perfume would fit an outdoor funeral which is not a really fair classification; however, in the moment in which we're all collectively living, it relegates the fanciness and formality of things to that of a distant memory. On me I feel like it takes quite a while to get the rose to emerge, all I smell is oud, oud and more oud. Which isn't a bad thing, necessarily, but those who relegate this to jammy rose territory, I have to wonder what is up with my skin chemistry to not get that vibe from this fragrance at all.

Oud Silk Mood EDP lasts for over 10 hours on me, I am not sure what the reviewer below me is talking about. 👀... Anyways, on to more important things like a true review perhaps? I only have a sample because I was unsure on whether my body would agree with an oud fragrance and I thought correctly. On my skin it is an oud bomb. I’m talking like an antique bookshelf left out in the backyard and the wood slowly rotting due to being left out in the elements for a few years. I’m talking like I just got back from a vacation from the Middle East. The rose is subtle on my skin but very prevalent when sniffing off the nozzle. I can appreciate the other notes: chamomile, and bergamot in the fragrance. I can only imagine that without the two the oud would be dangerous. I won’t buy a full bottle because when I wear OSM, I layer it with BR450. The two together is just heavenly.

First review yayyy This perfume is like the first one i bought out of my comfort zone and to me, it starts off straight up rose bomb straight up rosewater i don’t get much of the bergamot but the chamomile is definitely there. After a few seconds the oud smell comes in which adds the aromatic-ness to it, if thats a word. a very airy and floral scent for sure wearing it makes me feel like i just stepped out of a shower smelling of roses and everything feels like in the name silky smooth and elegant. if i were to describe it, it smells almost like mezzo-soprano singing voice complimented by melodic trumpet which would be the oud almost nasally compared to something like a amber/tobacco low deep accord but in any case way too pricey in my opinion go for a decant first. packaging and presentation is fantastic. quite feminine as expected.

This is one of the best oud rose combo's that I've smelled. If you're tired of this genre, I wouldn't recommend pulling the trigger on this because you won't get anything super new. But, if you like this combo or are new to it, then I'd say try this. It's at the very top of rose/oud experiences . This is well blended, very high quality and is silky smooth. The rose is beautiful and not harsh like montale which this is compared with. It's airy, slightly metallic and slightly powdered, with a touch of leather. Oud is a bit rubbery/medicinal but not challenging IMO. Personally, I like this more than satin mood because there is no sweetness which can be cloying in the climate I live in (warm). It's not super loud and longevity is good 10 hours. Very wearable in the fall/winter or spring evening's due to the airiness of the fragrance.

I have ordered a couple of samples from the MFK website and honestly I have had huge expectations particularly from this one. First time I sprayed Silk Mood I was slightly disappointed but I couldn’t say why. I expected something better than the traditional rose oud I guess. I’ve got this medicinal feel to it on me that I don’t particularly enjoy, so I waited a couple of weeks and tried it again. No, the medicinal touch is still there is it stays in the dry down too. I surely won’t be purchasing a full bottle of it now, however I am very much intrigued by its uniqueness. Definitely not sexy to me, not sensual, it is an unique scent that give me the feeling of a rainy cloudy day, which I enjoy, but not enough to buy a big bottle of it. I will try this again sometime in the future, curious to see if something changes

Notes listed above are lacking the obvious citrus up top (Net-A-Porter lists this as Italian Bergamot, sure.) This opens, as others have mentioned, like a slap to the face. Ammonia like, sharp, and pungent rose. The rose smells like the greatest quality rose water, overtop green, medicinal oud. This is much nicer in the air than directly on the skin, and is a more masculine leaning rose--if you believe perfume can be gendered, that is. I think it's more versatile than either the extrait (which came first, btw) and Oud Satin Mood, which is very dense and heavy. If you like big roses, and are familiar with the more medicinal and slightly acrid facets of oud, you'll like this one--but for the price, it is nothing groundbreaking.
