Musc Dahabii

i absolutely agree with the people saying this scent leans vintage, it's highly reminiscent of the sort of colognes my dad would wear to meetings so it's a very cozy, familiar sort of profile. it's also reminding me a lot of the first "real" cologne i ever owned, though i can't recall the name now... it comes across as a high-end unisex scent, but it's an interesting subversion of a fairly typical powdery floral- it is very powdery, so much so that at first it's a little surprising that what's in the bottle isn't actually just powder, but this subsides fairly quickly and opens up to soft floral musk with hints of wood and citrus. what feels a little subversive to me is that there is a distinct earthiness, a slight smoky burn in the backdrop that is fairly subtle but mixes wonderfully with the fresh wood and contributes a lot to the scent's overall character. i'm very much in love with this- it feels very mature, very cultured, the kind of scent you'd wear to impress a date you're taking to see an orchestra. possibly my favorite gigodot scent.

Low-key but pleasant. At first I don't get much of anything here. This is a perfume that concentrates on its base notes: pale, smooth, woody musk, like refined soap with birch tar too, leathery rather than smoky. It reminds me of the Cussons Imperial Leather soap brand. Some earthy sandalwood makes a background appearance before quickly being swallowed up and there's orris root powderiness but it's almost entirely for texture not the "perfumey" variety. Overall quiet, refined, powdery, old-fashioned leather soap. And then the surprise, a little twist of vetiver showing through as it dries giving it lift and putting a smile on my face.

For musk lovers. I can smell musk, leather and orris. More for fall and winter, 100% unisex. Warm and cocooning... 7/10

This is an interesting release in that it harks back to a more vintage scent, for me a little chypre a little leather like one of the great masculine feminines. I can see the Cardin Paradoxe link though this is lighter, drier and without the heavy yellow floral notes. This is certainly refined, elegant and a little severe so it's not one to spray with abandon unless you're in that particular mood.
