Antidris Cassis

This smells like a voluspa candle I used to have, but wearable. I have a feeling it was a cassis scent too. This turns warm on my skin, surprisingly and thankfully. I’m obsessed. It’s a more mature, clean, cozy scent to me. It lasts on clothes. I sprayed one spritz on my winter jacket and it has lasted for days and when I put it on after work and smell that smell, it’s just so relaxing to me. It’s a smell I want my whole house to smell like, but I also love to wear it. It’s not sexy, it’s not overly feminine, I just find it fresh and cozy in a unique way. It’s one of those scents where I smelled it and thought “finally”. I’ve been searching for a signature scent like this for a long time.

I have the small perfume oil. I am absolutely in love with this fragrance. I’ve been eyeing diptyques L’ombre dans l’eau for a while now and decided to try this beauty and I’m quite impressed. It opens green and fruity and then the rose pops in and it makes so much sense! I’m in love with this. I was considering getting the full bottle but instead splurged on diptyque instead because I wanted a spray and cassis only comes as a rollerball perfume oil. I will def be using this one for travel purposes because it’s the perfect size. I look forward to comparing the two when the perfume arrives. So far I give this one 10/10.

i don’t tend to be super into fragrance oils because they don’t last long on my skin but this is absolutely beautiful and longlasting. The black currant is juicy and sweet, and the rose, while prominent, feels very realistic and green rather than the overwhelming, artificial, overly done rose we all know and come to expect most of the times. I’m not usually a rose fan, but this has to be one of my favorite perfumes right now and I carry it everywhere with me; perfect for spring!

The opening is so lovely - a really green rose with dewdrops on its bud... cassis is definitely dominant here, brings that fresh smell with a hint of floral. I agree with others that the dry down turns quite different, but personally I don't dislike it, though I more prefer the opening. The silage is so-so probably because is oil based perfume, but it's super long lasting comparing to other alcohol based perfumes. Love its performance overall, it has become this spring's go to.

This was my signature from 2018-2020 or so — first smelled it as a candle and then tracked it down (in my memory, the candle was almost a bit saltier or reminded me of the ocean in some way). I think the oil carries the scent better than the spray, but I always wished the sillage was greater (and that it lasted a bit longer). Clean, bright, but not too floral or feminine. Put it on as a little pick-me-up.

I don't see the problem some others have with this. It's beautiful and unisex as hell. I personally love it. To me, it smells like candied roses or what an actual sugar plum fairy would smell like, probably a lesbian sugar plum fairy. Or a nonbinary garden gnome. In the best way.

The funkiness people are referencing - I get it. Do you know what this is? It’s Biosilk hair serum + roses. As someone who sniffs my Biosilk bottle the way I sniff fragrance atomizers, I am sooo glad I found this 😍

The best oak moss I’ve ever smelled. Opening is powerful, leans masculine/gym scent. Settles into a beautiful garden, smoky rose. Very unique and universal.

I like this... Smells really fresh on my skin. One of the few freshies that cuts through the cold temperature without smelling screechy or too citrus.

Wait , I actually like this! It’s interesting in a good way! I keep sniffing my wrist because the accords that come through are *slightly* different every time. The black currant, of course, is the most obvious only second to the unmistakable rose note, but I think the base notes that carry the scent is where it gets interesting in the best of ways. Before looking at the notes I guessed violet and Iris were in here because the sweetness reminded me of candied violet and the powdery accord( which I now think is a combination of the rose and oak moss, even though powdery isn’t one of the accords listed) reminded me of that of Iris notes. The Tonka at the base really gives this a warmth that makes it so unique and the oak moss is so divine! It’s so funny that I just reviewed another fruity floral prior to this review and lamented that fruity florals just don’t seem to be a profile for my tastes, but I really like this one! This could work for day or nighttime in the warmer seasons. Edit: 30 mins later and whatever powder accord I was picking up is gone and now this is a sweet delicious fruity floral shampoo scent. This is so good! Edit 2; Oh, this is even better on dry down! It’s so green, mossy, and enveloped in beautiful white rose with the lovely sweetness of tonka.. I think the white rose may have been what I confused with candied violets. This isn’t a linear fragrance on me at all and it’s quite beautiful! I bought this in a discovery set of all of Maison Louis Marie’s fragrances and I’m definitely buying the full size. I think I might purchase the small oil rollerball as well. Edit: So it’s almost a week later and I went and bought the full size!

Top Notes: Cassis/ Bergamot/ Black Pepper Middle Notes: White Rose Base Notes: Oakmoss/ Musk/ Tonka This fragrance starts with a strongly fruity opening, among which bergamot overlaps with a sour-ish sweetness. I would assume that the berry-like sweetness comes from the Cassis, since Google told me that Cassis is “a sweet, dark red liqueur made from blackcurrants”. What surprised me is that the combination of sourness and the white rose in this perfume produces an extremely green scent. The freshness is even more vivid when I started associating the berry-like sourness with the taste of liquor, reminding me of those unavoidable decaying flowers in garden. However, this “filter” over the rose does not go away easily( though on my skin the bergamot here volatilizes in about an hour), which for me goes beyond a natural state but to an artificial rawness. The sense of artifact is also enhanced by the underlying musk. Antidris Cassis lasts about 10 hours on my skin and diminishes with a blur of warmness. That being said, oak moss and tonka in its base do not really stand out on me respectively. The sillage is pretty strong in the first 3,4 hours and then sticks well to the skin, but for those who doesn’t enjoy a green fragrance it can still be a little bit overpowering. Overall this perfume definitely worths a try if you want to find a rose fragrance with a green rawness. For me, it would be a much better buy if I had not used the rose body cream by REN... They just smell so so so similar!

would describe this as plainly "just nice." my fav & most reached-for from the rollerball sample set i got from this house forever ago, which is not saying much, cuz they were all pretty unimpressive. antidris cassis is pleasant and inoffensive, fresh and green and subtle with its rose. i don't pick up on the pepper accord very much.. more like a vague gesture in the direction of fresh spicy than any real delivery has basically no performance (cuz rollerball i guess) but it's the kind of thing that would leave someone saying "you smell nice!" after a hug. and yes i get the astringent note a little... but i kinda like it lol. i reach for this on a pleasant spring day, or late winter when new green stems are starting to grow and the world is coming back to life. i wore this while traveling and it became a nostalgic scent for me, will always remind me of driving highway 1 & breezy california summer weather. when my bottle runs out i might get the candle, but if it weren't for that nostalgia i would probably just forget this one

I credit this perfume with inspiring my ever-growing interest in fragrance. Purchased a few years ago, I wear it sparingly, but was so intrigued when I first sniffed it because of that funky, dark note (the black pepper, I'm thinking.) It smelled like dirt and yet I enjoyed it so much; it got me thinking about what other odd smells I might be pleasantly surprised by in perfumes. So I always (lovingly!) refer to this as my "dirt perfume." I don't get much of the rose at all, but the pepper and blackcurrant are forthright. I love its earthiness. It's great for layering with lighter, more floral or sweet scents to funk them up a little. On its own, it works very nicely as a non-intrusive skin scent. A fun and curious member of my collection.

This is much sharper than I expected based on the descriptions. I know cassis is somewhat sour and there’s also the bergamot, but this is almost grapefruit-like to me, like a grapefruit rose fragrance with some green notes. I’m someone who very much enjoys citrus fragrances but I’m not sure how I feel about this. It borders on screechy when paired with rose. I’m glad I tested this before buying l’ombre dans l’eau. The dry down is mossier and more pleasant to me and it’ll probably be more refreshing once summer hits.

Wow, just wow. I saw. I tried this one in the sampler set, and it was by far my favourite of the line. It's so underrated! A beautiful natural cassis note perfectly executed (and this comes from someone who generally hates fruit notes in fragrance - they usually smell too synthetic to me), and a lovely true rose bud smell. Very unique, very natural smelling, perfect every day summer fragrance, in my view.

my favorite from this house (have the sample set, and so far, have also tried bois de balincourt and le long fond). a light, vibrant scent that reminds me of walking through my grandmother's rose garden on a crisp summer morning - the smell of roses, neither powdery nor heady, but instead brilliantly green. the rose, its stem, and the leaves. really tempted to buy a full-sized bottle.

This is a very clean, borderline soapy rose...almost aquatic, no sweetness whatsoever. Definitely a great daytime, spring/summer freshie, safe for the office or gym. Soft, elegant, feminine leaning floral.

It's nice, I'm keeping it bc I have nothing like this in my collection. But if you've ever used a Bath and Body Works 3 wicks candle called "Currant" , it smells exactly like that.

Crisp, green, slightly peppery and the rose peeks through perfectly. Love everything about this fragrance.

I liked this right after I applied it - fresh and very in sync with the season - I tried it in early April. I also really like the idea of black currant scents, it brings memories of my grandparents growing bushes of black currant in my childhood and having tea with a black currant leaf while visiting their countryside cottage. Unfortunately Antidris Cassis is not the one for me when it comes to black currant fragrances because I really don't like the drydown (which is always the most important part for me). It's one of those things when you can't quite pin down why you dislike something but just catching the scent in the air an hour later makes you wish you weren't. I got this as a part of the discovery and I think I will be giving it more chances. It is not a bad fragrance, and I feel like the drydown has some notes that I perhaps just generally usually dislike in perfumes. I will try layering it with other perfumes cause I definitely had good experiences with that before. 6/10

I immediately get mandarin, followed up by some lemon which curbs out the syrupy sweetness. It's okay, it's not the kind of sharp, harsh lemon in cleaning products, but more subtle light and fresh while also being friendly and playful. I imagine some kind of motherly figure in a modern church setting wearing this. It's sophisticated but sweet.

It reminds me of a sticky sweet popsicle melting in the garden on a warm day. It’s definitely got some green oak moss underneath it. Layering something fruity on top, like Strawberry by Malin + Goetz helped balance it out a bit. I found it lasts all day, and maybe that’s just because I don’t love it and I’m aware of the scent on me.

Smells like rose oil. That's about it. Very akin to Tea Rose by the Perfumer's Workshop, but less astringent. Pleasant, but doesn't read as a full-bodied perfume to me. I can't smell any of the other notes listed. It's not terribly interesting to me.

Not sure about this. I dont get fruity, sweet, or floral ...its just kind of...there? Ive never smelled anything like this. Its not fresh or clean smelling..

Whew, if you like rose, this is for you. Soap and rose. Very mature.

initially i immediately was taken aback from the funky smell; its probably the berries and the pepper. then i was like oh yeah this is supposed to be roses and i could imagine that as a "realistic" and unique green rose. i also think it smells kinda like a sour, earthy, rustic, spicy rose. I really can't get past the funkiness of it so i'll pass. not my jam but smo else could like it

I spritzed some above my head and my first impression was cigarette smoke, followed by some sort of saltiness. Never in the world did I expect this from black currant, rose,oakmoss, etc.... It must be the musk (?) I may or may not try some on my skin to see how it evolves over time, but for the moment I'm not particularly inclined

That's the one from the sampler set I have which I actively dislike on most occasions, and last time I put it on, I wanted to remove it after a few hours. It smells like berry seeds, not the berries themselves. To me, it smells like rosehip seeds, without any fruitiness, without any florals. Complete pass for me.

This is a citrus floral rose bomb. Not for me. Honestly, makes me think that for me personally, I need woods somewhere in a fragrance (usually base note) to ground the fragrance. Fragrances without a grounding note feel... ungrounded to me.

It has a prominent, curious tar/rubber-like smell. My friend and I both got sample packs of MLM. Her roll on bottle of this is darker color than mine, and the rubber smell is more prominent. I sort of get it, but I don't care for it.

I might appreciate this in a candle, but it doesn't work as a perfume. The berry is overpowering, doesn't smell natural, verges on a candy scent. There's an underlying unpleasant funkiness I haven't identified yet. Not for me.

This smells like hot plastic to me. That goes away pretty fast, but then the remaining scent is so faint that I am tempted to re-apply, until I remember that I don't like the smell of hot plastic. It's a no for me

This turns really, really bad on my skin. I don’t know which note is doing this, but it has a sour, skunky, horrible effect.

Literally just sprayed on my arm, but it’s giving winter themed potpourri.

Beautiful green rose scent which unfortunately turns sour on my skin.

I hate to label this a hate, but it is unwearable on my skin. The final drydown eventually is an agreeable cassis scent, but it is not worth the wait. On my skin: A stinky cassis but only because all other notes are destroyed on my skin. Has a cleaning agent edge to it and a very brief jolt of something medicinal and round that sits in the back of the throat. Pepper is strong. Rose is spicy. This combo plus bergamot reminds me of fresh lemongrass--astringent, but my skin warms it up. There's a rindy, molding grapefruit smell to my nose. It's powerful and sharp. Has great clarity and strength, but unwanted with it smelling like cleaning product and rotting fruit in perfume form. Very unattractive on my skin. On a test strip: Smells like a green apple slice with blackcurrant--juicy and fresh. The pepper shows up strong but it's also wet. Rose isn't happening yet. It's green. I get the start of the molding fruit skin, but as I sniff more I get a gentle rose with cassis; it's dewy and uplifting. Much prettier! I quickly switch back to my arm and am repulsed; it's a tragedy there. The strip sample is softer, cleaner and more natural. Because of its sharpness it still reads a bit like a cleaning spray scent, but I'm willing to let it rest and develop. This is fresh, spicy-scented roses. Surprisingly, the final drydown settles into a too-peppery blackcurrant (still with a buzzy citrus rind). I really love some of the scents from this house, but this one I hate on my skin. My preferred beautiful juicy cassis perfume: Lalique Amethyst

If "nose jail" exists, they make me smell this for torture :) absolutely horrible.

I am a lover of feminine rose scents but I don’t get dominant rose in this as the notes pyramid suggests. It’s there, but it’s not the star attraction. I would describe it as a sweet berry and rose with an intense black pepper note. I find the black pepper to be a bit jarring. And there is something in there reminiscent of citronella- subtle, but I definitely am distracted by it. The notes blend to create something that’s not super feminine but not masculine either. If I had to choose it leans more feminine though. It’s not unpleasant or uninteresting, but it’s not something I want to wear on my skin. It would be a great candle- one of those high end, expensive types of candles. It has complexity. I’m confused by all the reviews saying it’s just a simple rose.

Very similar to L’Ombre Dans L’eau by Diptyque (EDT). I feel like Diptyque has been a major inspiration to Maison Louis Marie as well as Le Labo and other brands. I appreciate that it’s a clean brand but the inspiration for the creations feels somewhat lacking. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to also remember what their other scent, Nouvelle Vague remind me of and it’s Philosykos (EDT). Also Icila is almost identical to Coco Mademoiselle...You see where I’m getting? I have the discovery set in front of me and it’s just leaving me here rolling my eyes; uninspired, uninterested & unsatisfied. I’ll stick to my No 4 oil version that I’ve loved from the start from this brand; the only one that has some magic going on.

Screeching like a banshee right outta the bottle. Had wanted to try this brand, and on a pop-in visit to Sephora I applied it straight to my wrist like a rank amateur. I WAS NOT willing to let it develop, noone who’d start like this could possibly be taking me anywhere good. I went straight for the hand sanitiser to scrub this horror off my body— I was on my way to meeting people!!

It's been a while since something turned on my skin so quickly and awfully. At first sniff I thought this was pleasant and green! After 5-10 minutes of developing on my skin it flipped! I see so many people enjoying this fragrance, but it does NOT work for me. Smells like astringent cleaners and B.O. with a hint of rose on my skin. Wish I could do it, but I cannnnot!

I usually love most scents with a rose note in them, but on my skin I get no rose out of this. I definitely smell the green and mossy notes, and even something that smells a bit like cigarette ash or smoke (not warm like tobacco). It's not a bad fragrance, just not very exciting to me.

Light, bright, airy and clean rose with a side of citrus. (I always think rose and citrus smell liked geranium) I'm getting a little musk, I guess, but the Tonka is undetectable to my nose, so I find the whole thing fairly cool. I'll definitely revisit this in warmer months.

this smells like the menards garden section and not in a good way. Its like you're standing in the fertilizer aisle and there's a faint smell of burning rubber and engine oil. Ive tried this over several days, on my skin and on paper. It's just bad.

I tend to really dislike rose in my perfumes but it's so well blended here! with that fruity cassis note mixed with greens, it smells weird in a really funky and fresh way. I had to warm up to it but absolutely love it now. Such a unique scent.

Love cassis but hate rose so I’m a bit screwed with this one. Tried it hoping it was cassis forward but it’s too rosy for me and I don’t get any notes but those two. If you like cassis AND roses this could be the scent for you. Long lasting.

This is undoubtedly akin to Diptyque “L’Ombre Dans L’Eau”, which is one of my favourites 😍 It’s fresh, tart, spicy, sweet and warm all at the same time. I might buy this to wear with my Diptyque to increase longevity and projection.

Gorgeously tart. It turns on a light in my brain and makes me feel happy like something good has happened, even if I can’t remember what. I have this in the spray rather than oil.

Whew this is screechy. Dry rose with sharp pepper and an even sharper oakmoss. There’s nothing modern about this, crowd pleasers beware.

Smells like bitter orange with a soapy drydown. A clean, citrus scent for men that gives expensive vibes.
