Afternoon Delight

Wow, oh my god. I don’t usually repurchase perfumes because I get nauseous or bored of their scents after a while, so if I’m repurchasing something, it has to be GOOD. When I first smelt this at a department store, it smelt a bit medicinal. I wasn’t sure if that was just my nose or something, so I had my sister confirm that it indeed was. As I left, it sort of developed (?) into this really beautiful vanilla-y lactonic scent. It smells like a madeleine dipped in milk, and if you’ve ever had madeleines, you know that they aren’t that sweet (which is why I’m assuming they added the sandalwood note to create a photorealistic madeleine smell). I get that others may not like that added note as they want pure sweet vanilla, but to me, it just enhances the scent of the perfume by 1000%. To sum it up, this isn’t a very edible gourmand, (such as Escapade Gourmand, or Bianco Latte) this is more so a creamy airy light vanilla. It’s not heavy, or nauseating, so it’s great to wear to work or on a date night. Depending on your skin type, the projection and longevity may differ, but I just rebought another bottle yesterday, and holy, it was MACERATED. I’m talking dark purple. I sprayed it on last night at about 8:00 PM, and it’s currently 8:30 AM and I can still smell it on my hand. Favourite perfume I’ve smelt so far, and I’m a pit disappointed that it doesn’t get the hype it deserves.

oooOoooOooo i loovveee iiittttt!! my novice notes: vanilla extract (the expensive shit!), mildly milky, slightly salty/buttery, plastic babydoll head. the woods are there but they mean BASE when they say base notes, it makes this rounder but i wouldn't describe it as "woody." this is cozy comfy sweet toasty yummy. i don't really get any baked/pastry/wheaty/cookie notes but i can understand the concept of the marketing- it does evoke the feeling of standing around in the kitchen while someone mixes up some cookie dough. NOT chocolate chip. NOT madeleines. definitely sugar cookies. this is definitely a safe blind buy for all vanilla lovers and i think it will be a massive crowd pleaser. edit: holy smokes there are so many people saying this reminds them of vanilla milk by ellis brooklyn??? it doesn't smell like that to me AT ALL. vanilla milk was POWDERY and super lactonic. the literal only similarity is... vanilla. idk you guys are crazy lol edit2: wore it to work today and people keep walking by and saying "mmmm! it smells like vanilla over here!" or something to that degree. like 5 people in the last few hours lol. the sillage isn't very strong, but i work in a small office so it is lingering at my desk and general work area. i'm really happy with this one, folks! and that warm, buttery dry down? mmmmmmmmmmmm!!

I'm entirely addicted to her. She's a stunner. Absolutely exquisite high end fluffy airy vanilla, sugary and madeleine resemblant.She's sweet and airy. Makes me feel like a dainty fairy in a world of patisserie and femininity. There is nothing sour about this ethereal queen 👸 ✨️ I added her to my Vanilla Collection ( I'm a late bloomer to this fragrance i know ) and I can't stop wearing her daily. I have hundreds of more complicated and smokey vanillas, she's simple but that simplicity is masterfully done and so comfortable it's a little brain orgasm. She instantly makes me feel happy and lifted and in a cloud of white sparkles. So so delicious. If you want gourmand, sweet but elegant, look no further. Guess im lucky on my skin is delicious ambrosia and airiness. Signature worthy, perfect if you also want to layer her but I love her alone. Seductive. The kind of scent a man would go absolutely crazy over as it melts on you and becomes a subtle aura , I can immagine to get a whiff of this on wrists , behind neck, décolleté it's a "eye-rolling" moment .

I have this masterpiece as my signature scent for like 10 months now, and never got tired of it. At first this came across my nose as a gift in my order and it literally made me buy a 100ml bottle of this. Never smelled a tastier vanilla than this. This is so creamy and sweet, like a vanilla dough. The reason this is very appealing to me is that i sense some "play-doh-like" synthetic sweetness, which is very nostalgic to me. The whipped cream makes the scent itself smoother. When i was rocking this at summer, it had an awesome performance on my skin. I see it more on the men side, i mean it would smell very great on a woman too, but for me it's just more like manly.. If i would meet a person wearing it, the person would seem unique, playful, silly and full of youth and joy. That suits me, this scent was made for me. I would definitely appreciate an EDP of this, because i have to respray like three times a day when wearing this, since this is EDT. My most favorite scent ever, for now.. ;)

Afternoon Delight is in my top 3 (first is clean reserve skin, next is dedcool milk and 3rd is afternoon delight). However, it is my favorite winter/fall perfume. It is unlike anything else out there imo. It is creamy, smooth, and powdery. I don't see iris listed on the notes above, but iris/orris is my favorite note in perfumes because it adds that powdery lipstick doll head scent and I absolutely love that. It's cozy and light enough to wear it just to lounge around but also you can wear it on a night out and yet good enough to wear as your day to day but if your workplace has strict perfume scent rules, do not wear this at work. On my skin, it settles so smooth and I get so many compliments so im confused why a lot of people dont like this one. It's so good and definitely unique in my collection. An exact dupe would be sand and fog cream and sugar perfume oil so I wear them together and last until I bathe.

This is a beauty! When it launched I smelled it on a blotter and dismissed it quickly. It was warmer weather then and on paper, it just didn’t seem like anything special. Recently I received a sample vial with an order from Sephora and decided to give it another try by sampling it on my own skin and that was a game changer - now I’m smitten. 😍 It’s a soft, subtly sweet vanilla, warm and slightly musky/woody. Wears close to me and I get wafts of it all throughout the day. This perfume is absolutely delightful, for anytime of day. Anyone could wear this but some may think it’s more feminine leaning. I bet this would layer well with other fragrances too but so far I’m enjoying it as is. In my opinion this fragrance radiates so well in colder weather - this little gem is a keeper!

I'll be honest: the controversy surrounding this fragrance here caught me off guard. It feels like some kind of mass hysteria. Afternoon Delight is an inoffensive, delicate, and airy gourmand. No, it doesn't have the intensity and weight of something like Kayali's Vanilla 28 (and it's not aiming for that). It's whipped cream, skim milk, and buttery pastry dough. It's a high-end dessert -- one you would get at a cafe with coffee that teeters between savory and sweet -- not a boozy vanilla or a vanilla cupcake with icing. As it settles in, I get a bit of carrot seed with the musky ambrette note. Lingers on me all day. Almond cookie, tres leches cake, meringue. It's the perfect gourmand for someone who doesn't gravitate towards a more traditional, heavier gourmand scent profile.

At first, I DESPISED this. I think it was because I expected something different (not sure what), so it threw me off. Weirdly enough, I found myself starting to crave it? I thought I was losing my mind, so I tried it again, and I fell in love. Perception truly is everything. This is fluffy, soft, warm, and radiant. It does smell like a madeleine. The longer it sits on the skin, the fluffier it becomes. I truly love this. I find myself thinking about it when I'm not wearing it. I would highly suggest obtaining a decent sized sample of this first so that you can try it multiple times to make sure you truly like/dislike it. 10/10

I smelled this in store about a year ago and still have not purchased it, but omg. I think about this everyday, it is so intoxicating!! There are days where I just yearn for this scent. This is not a straightforward sweet vanilla (to me), it is very buttery and sandalwood forward. It’s rich and creamy like vanilla ice cream, but a little bit odd. The best way I can describe it: baking buttery shortbread cookies in a wood burning oven in the basement of an old castle. Not for everyone so definitely give it a test if you’re not sure. It lasted 6+ hours on my skin and days on my clothes!

the hate this scent gets astounds me, but I guess that's just fragrances for you... this is the simplest and safest scent in my collection; smells exactly like the name states - vanilla cake batter, nothing else. maybe the slightest hint of whipped cream, which makes the scent a little smoother. I've never got play-doh or anything of the sour milk sort I genuinely thought this was the safest vanilla option out there, lol. but I can imagine where everyone's coming from. I love the scent, however the lasting power isn't amazing and the sillage is pretty much not there.

I love this scent. It smells like a vanilla pastry that isn’t overly sweet it’s just really doughy. It doesn’t smell like super gourmand bakery sweet, it smells like warm sweet dough bread aka a Madeline so I think the name is perfect. In a lot of gourmands there’s like a syrupy or frosting smell but there’s none of that in this one; it’s just a sweet bread. Perfect amount of sweetness to me! I feel like a woman in her 30s would wear this but it’s a versatile fragrance for any age. It’s feminine leaning.

This to me smells exactly like vanilla powder mix you add to milk (specifically this one popular brand we have in my country). It's a friday evening, I'm 7 (or 27), sitting under blanket warming my hands with cup of this sweet (slightly artificial smelling) vanilla milk. The world is quiet as it's getting late so finally no one wants to bother me and I can watch cartoons in peace. Incredibly comforting. Doesn't smell like perfume to me so that's probably why I like it so much.

I just can’t understand where all this hate for this perfume is coming from. It’s the best vanilla fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It smells exactly like the listed notes, and on my skin it lasted three days with amazing projection. It simply smells like a bakery baking a vanilla cake. Honestly, it truly deserves the “Best Perfume of 2025” award. I’d give it a 9/10 only because it’s a bit basic, but at the same time it feels original.

The first two hours of this fragance are kind of strange on my skin, it opens sour and undefined, but after that, it transforms into an INCREDIBLE sweet and comforting smell, vainilla cookie, pie with cream, chocolate cupcake and everything in between. I usually don't enjoy overly sweet smells, but this one keeps a good balance and I can't get enought out of it.

I kept trying this over time and it was diabolical. I don’t know what possessed me to try it again today but I finally got the creamy lactonic sweet madeleine notes 🤩 either it’s due to being open for a while (it looked a bit darker), or they straight up changed the formula. Either way, it was amazing. Not too strong, but beautiful scent!

Oooh, this IMMEDIATELY reminded me of eating Haagen Daz Vanilla Bean ice cream! A pure, perfectly sweet vanilla cream with an absolutely DELICIOUS warm spice brewed in to keep the scent from going to lactonic and childish- my only regret is that I don’t live in an entirely cool climate, so I can justify wearing it all the time!

Hyper-realistic madeleine cookies - butter, sugar, vanilla extract and all. Hard to understand the hate train on this one, it seems like it would be an easy crowd pleaser for any gourmand lover! I suppose I could see that one maybe doesn’t want to smell like butter, but I find it comforting. An easy daytime reach for me.

To put it very bluntly, this perfume smells exactly like vanilla extract. If you aren't a fan of that, or strong "power-sugary" smells, don't get this. I personally really like it, but I know this isn't going to stick with everyone. At the very least, get a sample first before purchasing just to be sure.

a lovely gourmand. the vanilla sits really nicely atop a sandalwood base with a creamy lactonic middle. Love layering this over a cocoa butter moisturizer for some extra stick. Initial spray is more alcohol heavy, sits nicely after a few minutes. (Disclaimer: I want to smell like a baked good, ymmv)

This is a beautifully sweet but not overly so, comforting, creamy vanilla. Definitely a skin scent, but wears longer than similar perfumes like Vanilla Milk by Ellis Brooklyn. This is 100% blind buy safe if you enjoy a lactonic gourmand - just a basic, but very well done, powdery milky vanilla.
