Matcha Meditation

So, I own Tea Escape, and I've always wanted to try Matcha Meditation to compare. Later I discovered that Under The Lemon Trees is actually very much within the same green tea family of the other two, so these, in a way, comprise Replica's "trilogy" of green tea scents all coming from different angles. I like all three and I can't say that any of them live in the realm of Replica's more banal and incredibly low performing offerings (I'm looking at you, Sailing Day and Bubble Bath) - Matcha Meditation is heavy on the jasmine, and has the fullest body and strongest presence of the three. (Which, if you're looking for a calming and 'gentle' green tea fragrance à la Bvlgari The Vert etc., perhaps steer clear!) It also has the most powdery feel of the three, and is very much a cross between a sweet and frothy matcha latte and a jasmine milk tea. It's a full-bodied, classic white floral with sweet, earthy and lactonic accords. If I go back and forth smelling Tea Escape and Matcha Meditation, MM is drowned out by jasmine a lot more in comparison (though still recognizable as having a green tea note), while Tea Escape feels a lot more balanced and is much more forward about being a tea scent. Think of it as a sweet and frothy matcha latte with a strong and very present dose of jasmine, that mellows to a less interesting white floral musk. It's kind of like the baby of Tea Escape and Mugler's Alien. - Tea Escape has 85% of the same DNA as Matcha Meditation, with a similarly very creamy and lactonic feel, but it's instead more green, a little more citrusy and zesty (I'm a big earl grey lover so the heavy bergamot presence in the opening is very much welcome!) and has more of an 'herbal' quality to it thanks to the mint and mate notes. The drydown is cozy and smells like warm milk and rice pudding. Tea Escape also has jasmine helping to add a 'creamy' and smooth quality but it's not as heavily reliant on jasmine as Matcha Meditation is. Think of it as hot genmaicha tea, with a side of milky sweet rice pudding and with a spritz of mint leaves and citrus to add some freshness. It mellows to a cozy and sweet milky rice musk. - Under The Lemon Trees, despite the name, is definitely a green tea scent, and it essentially takes the more green and citrus aspects of Tea Escape and makes them the only star of the show. It has a purely citrus-heavy opening, so instead of the gentler splashes of bergamot and mint you're greeted with a strong dose of lime and dry spices, but the heart of it shares the DNA of Tea Escape (green tea + mate), just without any of the milkiness or creaminess. It's the only truly unisex fragrance of the three, and the drydown isn't warm or creamy or food-like but rather your more traditional ck one style woody musk. It's kind of the baby of Tea Escape and ck one. I can't really decide if I need to own more than one, I definitely like all three... and if I wasn't spoiled with Tea Escape I'd certainly be just as happy with the other two. You're not missing out on a ton though, MM and TE are of the same school of thought enough to almost be flankers of one another.

Wow... this is one of my all-time favorite fragrance! It was love at first sniff 🍵💚🍫🍃 Everything about it feels like me. I absolutely love the matcha latte vibe. It’s fresh, yet deliciously gourmand, and I get a beautiful white chocolate note that makes it so smooth and comforting. I live in a tropical climate, and this is incredibly easy to wear in the heat. It’s one of the few gourmand fragrances that still feels refreshing, making it a perfect summer day gourmand. I recently got my bottle so I haven’t received any compliments on it yet, so I am not sure about his projection, but honestly I enjoy smelling it on myself so much. It’s one of those fragrances I wear for my own pleasure. I was disappointed to learn that Maison Margiela discontinued it. I really hope they bring it back someday—or create something very similar. I was lucky enough to find a bottle online, and I’m cherishing every spray. Sometimes, when I want a little more projection and a stronger tea note, I layer it with Wulong Cha by Nishane. On its own, Wulong Cha is a bit too dry for me, sharp, and almost masculine for my taste. But when layered with Matcha Meditation, it’s transformed. Matcha Meditation adds sweetness, and that gorgeous white chocolate accord. Together, they balance each other beautifully. When my husband smelled me wearing both of them he noticed and said I smelled “fresh” 🍃☺️ This fragrance always reminds me of a Starbucks matcha latte—in the best possible way. It’s modern, comforting, unique, and not something you smell on everyone. I’m completely in love with it, and that matcha with white chocolate note is simply addictive.

Oh this is sooooooo yum. A sweet and fresh matcha tea scent that’s calming and comforting.. yet completely addictive and utterly delicious. It opens with a creamy, slightly powdery matcha tea note that feels green and smooth.. instantly evoking the sensation of sipping a perfectly balanced iced matcha latte. But here’s where the magic happens.. the white chocolate. It adds a velvety, sweet richness that mingles with the matcha and jasmine so seamlessly.. it feels almost too good to be true. The sweetness isn’t overwhelming, but as it warms on the skin, it blooms beautifully.. becoming deeper and more indulgent with every moment. The florals (mainly jasmine), while present, take a backseat over time to allow the true stars of the show fully shine.. this white chocolate matcha tea duo. And when it does? Oh my god. It’s like pure delicious temptation bottled. I’m completely obsessed. The combination is so well balanced.. sweet but never cloying, fresh but never overly green. Versatile for any occasion. It’s like the scent draws you in and before you know it, you’re hooked. This is not just a perfume; it’s a mood, a vibe, a sensory escape. Sweet, refreshing, and dripping with creamy indulgence. The only negative I have is it doesn’t seem to last as long as I’d like, but I don’t really care because it just smells sooooo good! Not really what I was expecting when I first sprayed it but I ended up loving it anyways. I thought it was going to be a much damper, greener, kind of dark matcha but its light and more of a matcha latte kind of scent. Very calming and nostalgic scent, it brings together matcha tea notes with a bit of white chocolate , with the white florals, especially Jasmine, doing a lot of the lifting that avoids this turning into a super sweet gourmand. It really is not a gourmand and its more of a light, airy , green scent. As another commenter mentioned, its very spa-like which is a feature I also found on a totally different fragrance, the legendary Body Kouros from YSL. However on that one the spa features are strong benzoin , incense and eucalyptus, this is a totally different approach. Beautiful composition and just like Margiela's Flower Market , it is a complex scent that ends up smelling very familiar and minimalistic to our noses. Unisex but due to the white florals it can be considered slightly more feminine leaning. Performance is still to be tested but seems pretty adequate, not too crazy but not weak either. All year scent but it will shine in slighlty warmer days. UNIQUE profile!

First couple of wears: The opening is realistic matcha powder used in drinks. It brings me back to carefree times hanging out at coffee/milk tea houses with close friends. This top note is short-lived though, much to my disappointment. Turns floral, sweet but sharp, quite immediately. This is a white floral fragrance to my untrained nose. Not a like but not an unlike either because of that interesting matcha accord. Never smelled anything like it in a perfume before and I want more. I'll use up my sample for that special initial blast. Moderate sillage and great longevity (esp on clothes). Can be worn all year. It’s pretty strong for an EDT. Did 4 sprays (one on the chest, close to my nose) on an especially hot day and the heat made this unbearably louder and sharper. I couldn’t stop sneezing. After several wears: This really grew on me. I get milky green tea and creamy white chocolate and little to no florals now. Odd how this changed so much. I don’t consider this a white floral perfume anymore, it’s a gourmand now and it’s delicious! My sample has long been empty but I can't stop thinking about it... Bought a full-sized bottle!

Clean yummy comforting. Creamy fresh matcha pudding. Lactonic and slightly milky. Light and soft yet warm and rich. A creamy milky bubble path scattered with tea leaves and jasmine petals. I loveeee tea, to find a fragrance that truly smells of tea but wearable, not like you’re a walking tea bag but you just get that hint of matcha and mate coming through. The white chocolate adds a touch of sweetness and creaminess. It’s faintly floral which balances and uplifts the fragrance. The opening is zesty green and more citrusy. The bergamot is apparent here. True tea scent once the citrus mellows. It dries down to a more creamy sweet finish the florals are more prominent and there is a warm subtle spicy cholatey note. It’s like a fresh gourmand if thats a thing? It’s not heavy at all but also not light and boring. I dont like fragrances that are too sweet or too fresh, this balances both beautifully, such a unique fragrance. This is a cozy scent, wearable all year in my opinion. Cuddly and cozy through the autumn and winter months but also uplifting and mellow enough for spring and summer. One of my absolute faves.

I can't believe this is discontinued. The only reason I have a bottle is because a friend sold me her own bottle that she doesn't wear often. I don't use it all the time so I can preserve it. I've tried so many matcha fragrances, but this is the one I keep going back to. On first spray you instantly get the matcha--slightly earthy, very green, very photorealistic ceremonial-grade matcha and not a matcha latte. Then you get a whiff of something floral, and a hint of something slightly sweet that tempers the earthiness of the tea (I think it's the white chocolate note). As it dries down, the white florals and slight woodiness predominate with a slight sweetness to keep it from being too dry and green. I don't know how many compliments I get from wearing this perfume. Like I said I don't wear it often since it's already discontinued, but when I do, without fail someone will always tell me how good I smell and ask what perfume I'm wearing. My most favorite compliment I ever got was "you smell like a rich person." Such a classy and unique scent, and I desperately hope Maison Margiela will bring it back!

Matcha Meditation my beloved... The initial sniff was a matcha bomb with a trail of sweet white chocolate, a beautiful combo. The dry down, after a minute or so, lost the sweetness and brought in the smooth green tea notes and jasmine. It turns a little powdery at this point but it’s a soft, almost lactonic sort of powdery that mixes with the green tea and matcha well. I can see how, for some the matcha gets lost to the florals too quickly, but to my nose I can still catch the herbal scents. Around 3-4 hours later, I’m getting hints of citrus and cedar. Regrettably, it has a very small sillage... but those who get a whiff of this after a hug will want to lean in for more! Overall, I would say it’s a tasty yet clean scent that’s not too overbearing, perfect for everyday wear during the spring or fall time. I can’t wait to get my hands on a bottle of this! edit: after a lot of searching I finally purchased a 100ml bottle! this is definitely becoming my signature scent 🫶🏽

decided to pull the trigger and get my hands on this scent after eyeing (nose-ing?) it for a long time and finding out it was getting discontinued. as a big matcha drinker, the opening notes are SO nice, i smell a sweet and creamy matcha- not something i would usually go for drink-wise but its a very pleasant smell, especially on my skin. it develops into a more greener, earthier scent on my skin with strong hints of white flowers. the dry down and wear on me comes down to just sweet powdery floral but it lasts a surprisingly long time. after two months of wearing it, i can confidently say that it's one of my all time favorite scents. definetely not an every day perfume for me since it's super sweet and overwhelming at times, especially during summer, but it evokes a sense of coziness and richness with the matcha note being actually present. i highly recommend trying it out if you are a sweet, creamy matcha enjoyer.

Oh, man, I had this so wrong. For some reason I thought it was going to smell artificially sweet or along the lines of a Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato, so I stayed away from it. I let the last 100ml bottle from my go-to online store escape my grasp, and now I’m stuck with inflated discontinued fragrance prices. This shook me. Initially I had the impression this was also going to be a citrusy tea scent, like an Elizabeth Arden. I didn’t know it was going to be this realistic of a matcha?!? This is just the way I want my matcha fragrance. That opening is everything! The dry down is still not that citrusy to my nose. It remains bitter and a little bit sweet. I do sense it’s more masculine-leaning, but by the smallest percentage, like about 2%. I’ll take it. I’m all for that Gris Charnel action. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just cry in my little corner for not getting a full bottle when I had the chance.

It is my absolute favorite scent from Replica. I found it while I was very into tea-like scents. Do be warned, if you are hoping it smells like ceremonial matcha powder like I did, you will not find that with this one. It was a blind buy for me. I was very surprised to smell citrus notes, especially mandarin orange, and wanted to hate it because I was hoping it leaned into the mellowness of matcha. However, I warmed up to it immediately because the cedar note add such a sophisticated maturity that works amazingly with the orange. My heart was broken when my sample of it got knocked onto the floor by my roommate's cat, and then to find out it was discontinued. I would pair it with Eau Capitale from Diptyque, and it became my signature scent and what I was known for. So many good memories and compliments came with this scent, I will repurchase it in a heartbeat.

This is so gorgeous, and I’m upset that it’s been recently discontinued after I started loving it! Matcha meditation was made to replace Tea escape which they discontinued first and I never got to try, but now they’ve discontinued both. I remember trying this at a department store long time ago and liked it, back then I had never tried tea scents so it was something new to me, and I couldn’t stop thinking about this perfume ever since. Wanting to give it a proper try, I got a decant of this. It opens with green tea, and bergamot that is not overpowering, along a bit of with orange blossom. All the notes compliment each other very well. It dries down to a delicious white chocolate matcha which I absolutely love!! The drydown does have similarities to D’annam Matcha soft serve, so I do see the comparisons. The opening is very different though.

I never thought this kind of fragrance can actually be done. It is very unique and delicious. I am a matcha lover, I lived in Tokyo for a decade and this is nostalgic, it brings back good calming memories of Tokyo. I am in love with this fragrance. Opening right away the green tea so delicious followed by some flowers, it reminds me of biking in Tokyo, then the sweetness from the white chocolate, it is so delicious I can bite myself. If you know KitKat matcha flavor, I get the same smell. The flowers are not too prominent, it is in the background and almost unnoticeable. There are times I can only smell white chocolate milk green tea. Longevity is medium, sillage is medium. This is a sweet and gourmand fragrance. I want to lick myself. I layer this with Replica Coffee Break, delicious! Smells like Tokyo in the morning passing by cafes.

I made an account just to rave about this one. As a teen I only wore celebrity scents, but recently I decided I wanted to find my adult signature scent. I'm pretty obsessed with matcha so all the reviews and notes sounded perfect for me. I very luckily found a full unused bottle of this locally on FB marketplace the other day and wow I got compliments on my first wear out. At first the powdery floral scent is a bit overbearing, but within a couple seconds I catch the green tea. Then the dry down is just a delicious sweet white chocolate matcha on me.... If this wasn't discontinued I would be wearing this on the daily all year round, but instead I will have to savour it a bit. I'm begging them to bring this back so I don't have to be so sparing!

I just blind bought a small bottle of this online from either Marshalls or TJ Maxx, can't remember which, but I heard it was discontinued and didn't want to go my whole life without smelling it. It's beautiful. The first spray is a photorealistic blast of matcha, which I looove, but I also started to worry that I wouldn't be wearable or "crowd pleasing" to most people. But then, thankfully, I got the best of both worlds because the dry down comes quickly and is much more sweet and subtle. It reminded me of Sci Fi by Ellis Brooklyn, but I like this better. It's softer, not as sharp. I'm so glad I snagged this and recommend you check those stores I mentioned!

I get citrus—bergamot and mandarin—with tea and jasmine. I am not sure I get white chocolate, though if I did, it would be fantastic. It is still lovely. I hope to get the chocolate when I wear this more—this is the first day I am spraying it and is something I would reach for quite often. Beautiful. Update: 02/16/2025 I sprayed this again lavishly tonight. I love it. I don’t care if I don’t get white chocolate, but it must make this slightly sweet and ever slightly dense. I like the cosmeticky smell this has. Update: 04/16/2025: I really love this especially because it’s not really a realistic tea scent but a perfumy tea fragrance. Love, love.

Used to have it and a bit sad that I didn't get another before it was discontinued, because it was beautiful. It smelled like a fresh matcha latte. The sweetness came through more on the dry down and wear, with the green fresh matcha note front and center mostly. Depending on your preferences, this can be either good or bad. The only bad thing I can say about this perfume is it's absolutely laughable longevity. Never before had I struggled so much to make a perfume last on my skin but to no avail. An hour of longevity on skin would be being generous. Thankfully, it stuck around a bit more when sprayed on clothes.

I absolutely love this fragrance. It has a nostalgic feel to it. Most would tend to place this in a spring to summer category and I agree but it also takes me back to my mom baking all kinds of sweet treats during the holidays. It leans a bit feminine but a guy can definitely wear this. He's just probably not driving a diesel dually 250 with a lift kit. (you get the idea). Layers really nicely with a number of more masculine fall fragrances in the leathery, warm, spicy, woody families. I like wearing this by itself on a couch day just enjoying it all to myself: Damn I smell good! lol ;)

currently my all time favourite. the matcha / green tea scent is perfect and compliments the floral notes amazingly. so fresh and bright but also comforting and deep, can’t stop smelling myself when i’ve got this on. i find once it settles down that hint of white chocolate really comes through too. only qualm is i wish it lasted a bit longer on me, seems to fade quicker than other Replica fragrances i’ve tried like Coffee Break but the longevity isn’t bad at all. so gutted this has been discontinued, probably would’ve made this my signature otherwise :(

What a beautiful, beautiful scent. It begins as a strong burst of jasmine tea leaves, before settling down into matcha ‘white chocolate’ as everyone says, which for me does come across as slightly sweetened matcha. It is so photorealistic. When I was unwrapping my box, the scent of the jasmine was strong. I’ve been a fan of jasmine scents since my youth due to my mother, and matcha and tea in general are my drinks of choice. This scent evokes a lot in me. Cons are that it’s discontinued, and that the lasting power is maybe 2-3 hours top.

This is my favorite perfume on the planet. I smelled it for the first time earlier this year, and then it was discontinued. I was so devastated, but this month I was FINALLY able to secure a full sized bottle. It’s not necessarily a gourmand smell but I want to eat it (drink it?) The matcha and jasmine compliment each other so much. I don’t get a lot of white chocolate at all. The longevity is very good on my skin, and the scent stays on clothing for days. I love this perfume so much, please smell it if you ever get the chance!!

Initially brought this because I was craving for a Matcha perfume so bad. Although it isn't that much of a strong green tea or matcha scent, I was surprised onto how well the white chocolate note lingered onto my skin. The scent is reminisce of sweet matcha lattes, those matcha flavoured kit-kats and my fav, matcha tiramisu. Fortunately I still have my bottle of it, but I'm trying my best not to finish it completely as it is running out! Sad that they discontinued this one.

A delicious and fresh powdery matcha scent that is rounded out by the white chocolate and jasmine. Considering the jasmine, it projects more clean/fresh with the white chocolate dry down to be closer to the skin. I wouldn't say this is too sweet, so pairing this with sugary/vanilla/lactonic scents could really help you get to the photorealistic sweetned matcha latte scent. Overall, one of my favourites and will be cherishing my bottle since it's being discontinued.

Matcha Meditation is one of those fragrances that just has something special, a perfect combination of notes that creates a heavenly and tantalizing experience. Fresh, green, and sweet, it is a perfect scent for spring daytime wear. This is a beautiful blend of authentic and fresh matcha with a white chocolatey base. Being Japanese, matcha is one of those nostalgic scents that I'm always pining for and Replica has really captured it beautifully with this fragrance!

I am in love with this perfume, I wore it in autumn last years and now that I smell it again, i'm sure it fits that season perfectly because I wouldn't be caught death wearing it during spring or summer. It's really gives green tea, matcha and Yasmin all at once, with the beautiful citrusness that I would attribute to mandarin and that WHITE CHOCOLATE? OMG it gives such a sweetness to it that I adore. The perfume in a whole it really smells like a white chocolate

What a charming little scent, it’s simplistic and makes me feel happy when wearing it. It has a therapeutic quality to it, it reminds of a spa day- everything is tranquil, clean and your mind is free at least. I wear this when i’m having a relaxing day and trying to ground myself, or when I’m cleaning, because of its fresh qualities. I believe this scent to be gender-less and I feel it would suit anyone who has a gentle temperament and has some maturity.

This is the best realistic earthy matcha fragrance in the industry to me. It is absolutely creamy and sweet with the perfect powdery matcha scent ever. It is one of my most favorite and beloved fragrances, I’m absolutely devastated it’s discontinued, I’m so glad I have a 10ml & 100ml, I’m going to savor and cherish them. The oil perfumery dupe is spot on(I bought it to help with MM’s longevity) and I’m going to try The Dua Brand’s version as well.

I don’t so much get matcha from this. It is a stronger green tea than the powdery matcha that I was expecting. It is very green, but has a sweetness and the jasmine note that is totally addicting. This is one of my all time favourite scents and I am so totally bummed that it has been discontinued. I have an unopened bottle that I am saving for my wedding because it is also my boyfriend’s favourite perfume on me.

One of my favourites, and I've yet to come across anything else quite like it. The white chocolate sets off the matcha in a very unique way. It's subtle, feminine and sugary sweet. It's how I imagine pixie dust would smell. This was my office go to for years and I was devastated when it was discontinued. I still have a third of a bottle left that I use sparingly on days when nothing else will do.

This was a birthday present I pondered over for some time. I kept the scent paper for weeks after I sprayed it in store. I would say as a gourmand girlie I search for the white chocolate note and easily find it under the matcha. A very lovely fragrance, not too powdery and very calming to me. However, for the price, it's disappointing that this is only a EDT.

This alongside by the fireplace are the most edible replica fragrances and my top go to in the replica line. I can't believe they discontinued this. Normally I wouldn't care too much as I'd just stock up on remaining bottles but it is literally impossible to find one of these in stock even on discounters. If you have a bottle of this treat it sparingly.

@Ioanna666 Beware of the fakes being sold on. I just had to return one from Ebay. It smelled of straight orange blossom! Anywho, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Match Meditation and really wish they'd bring it back. I was so surprised that I could actually smell the matcha and white chocolate. It settles down into something very soft, inoffensive, and spa-like, IMO.

Asked for a sample when I ordered other perfumes from Replica and I’m so glad they had one. Probably the first perfume that suits my nose, it’s so calming to smell and it keeps up with the green tea elements and resembles matcha in a great way. I think this is the perfect perfume for my daily routine, can’t wait to own a full bottle!

My favourite perfume of all time to date. Smells exactly like a match brownie and lasts all day. As is common with Replica I can smell the perfume throughout the day and get a little life every time I do. Cannot Express how incredible this perfume is. BEGGING REPLICA TO BRING THIS BACK

Smells like grabbing a fresh taiyaki and matcha on the way back to your hotel in Japan. Very fresh opening, clean. a really beautiful scent that starts to dry into a sweet floral ice cream. I’m a big fan of vanilla/sweet scents liking this floral shouldn’t be too hard if ur the same.

Immediately fell in love. As a big matcha enjoyer i really enjoy this scent. The opening smells like matcha powder with a sprinkle of fresh citrusy and sweet. As it dries down it becomes a sweet, floral, matcha-ish scent. If you enjoy tea based scents i would totally recommend this.

Literally smells like matcha kitkats. On the first day I only smelled straight up green tea, but you start to pick up on the chocolate note later. It is not too sweet and I get the matcha note throughout. I just wish it were a bit stronger, but it might need to macerate for a bit.

i am absolutely devastated they are discontinuing this as it is one of my favorite perfumes in my collection. it opens with a beautiful photorealistic milky matcha smell and melts into a soft, sweet floral smell in the dry down. rip matcha meditation you will be missed

Buy this if you want to smell like a creamy matcha latte. The sweetness really pulls through and balances the earthy notes quite nicely. The initial spray is medicinal in a way but give it time and the dry down will let it really shine. I'm so in love with this scent.

What a cool calming beauty this is. I could so live inside a bottle of this. Makes me think of all things Japan and especially matcha cream filled mochis. Yummalicious! Anyone who likes clean living would love this pure, heavenly creation. Sheer love!

The best tea fragrance ever made. Smells exactly like Indonesian jasmine tea drink: teh botol Sosro. Sooo sooo good. Calming. Elegant. Slightly sweet. A perfume for life. Now discontinued, most treasured bottle in my collection.

smells like kyoto. I know it's supposed to capture tokyo, but oh my god its like walking into a cafe with your friends in the centre of kyoto whilst smelling the distant tearooms not too far away in a ceremonial matter

A beautiful sweet scent for autumn and winter, expires quickly in hotter days; a saccharine iced matcha latte at first smell fades to generic florals and white chocolate, some musk.

And here I was, happy to find a lovely Replica scent that I love, and of course it's discontinued. Heartbreaking. Wishing I had at least 2 bottles of this sweet but fresh tea scent.

Such a great matcha latte smell. I don't really get the white chocolate as much from this. I really don't understand why this one was discontinued. Glad I got it when I did.

i love this scent so much! however i smell mate more than the matcha. this scent also has the right amount of fresh and sweetness to it, so sad to see this discontinued..
