Tea Escape

Writing this for anyone who is wondering how it compares to Matcha Meditation. Later I discovered that Under The Lemon Trees is actually very much within the same green tea family of the other two, so these, in a way, comprise Replica's "trilogy" of green tea scents all coming from different angles. I like all three and none of them are scrubbers, but I like each of them to different degrees. - Matcha Meditation is heavy on the jasmine, and has the fullest body and strongest presence of the three. (Which, if you're looking for a calming and 'gentle' green tea fragrance à la Bvlgari The Vert etc., perhaps steer clear!) It also has the most powdery feel of the three, and is very much a cross between a sweet and frothy matcha latte and a jasmine milk tea. It's a full-bodied, classic white floral with sweet, earthy and lactonic accords. If I go back and forth smelling Tea Escape and Matcha Meditation, MM is drowned out by jasmine a lot more in comparison (though still recognizable as having a green tea note), while Tea Escape feels a lot more balanced and is much more forward about being a tea scent. Think of it as a sweet and frothy matcha latte with a strong and very present dose of jasmine, that mellows to a less interesting white floral musk. It's kind of like the baby of Tea Escape and Mugler's Alien. - Tea Escape has 85% of the same DNA as Matcha Meditation, with a similarly very creamy and lactonic feel, but it's instead more green, a little more citrusy and zesty (I'm a big earl grey lover so the heavy bergamot presence in the opening is very much welcome!) and has more of an 'herbal' quality to it thanks to the mint and mate notes. The drydown is cozy and smells like warm milk and rice pudding. Tea Escape also has jasmine helping to add a 'creamy' and smooth quality but it's not as heavily reliant on jasmine as Matcha Meditation is. Think of it as hot genmaicha tea, with a side of milky sweet rice pudding and with a spritz of mint leaves and citrus to add some freshness. It mellows to a cozy and sweet milky rice musk. - Under The Lemon Trees, despite the name, is definitely a green tea scent, and it essentially takes the more green and citrus aspects of Tea Escape and makes them the only star of the show. It has a purely citrus-heavy opening, so instead of the gentler splashes of bergamot and mint you're greeted with a strong dose of lime and dry spices, but the heart of it shares the DNA of Tea Escape (green tea + mate), just without any of the milkiness or creaminess. It's the only truly unisex fragrance of the three, and the drydown isn't warm or creamy or food-like but rather your more traditional ck one style woody musk. It's kind of the baby of Tea Escape and ck one. I can't really decide if I'd need to own more than one, I definitely like all three... and if I wasn't spoiled with Tea Escape (which is definitely my favorite) I'd certainly be just as happy with the other two. You're not missing out on a ton though, MM and TE are of the same school of thought enough to almost be flankers of one another. UTLT is not at all similar to Tea Escape in terms of scent family, however if you were looking for a more fresh and masculine-leaning approach to Replica's green tea/mate accord, it's worth a try as well!

Oh, how I adore this so. I ordered two different 10 mL off of Ebay, and the first one I was able to acquire is the official travel spray that was a mere dollar or two cheaper than full retail. While I normally don’t love paying full retail, I also take into account that this was discontinued, so then I’m not so sad. Silly meat brain tricks. Haven’t received my decant yet from the other seller, and I’m hoping to try that before this Ebay auction ends for a full bottle. Fingers crossed! Anyway, back to the scent itself. I love it. So so comforting. I’m really starting to love just about every offering that I’ve sampled from the Replica line. I don’t really drink lattes on even a semi-regular basis, but I do love green tea, and I have had at least one or two matcha lattes in my life. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that I just had a light bulb go off that when people on Fragrantica refer to “lactonic” notes, that this is a derivative of “lactose”, aka milky. I know, DUHHHHHH, but it took me a while. Still don’t really understand what “indoles / indolic” means, but maybe that will hit me like a frying pan of realization someday soon... Anyway BACK TO THE SCENT, squirrel brain. I love it. It’s a balmy ~55 F here, after having a rough winter storm in the single digits last week. I feel like spring has sprung, even though it’s still February. This is a great springtime scent and makes my sad winter brain fire up some happy brain molecules. It smells just like a matcha latte and somehow also makes me “escape” to a more serene place. Truly fitting name, Replica marketing person. Good job. I want to find a full bottle ASAP (ya’ll stop outbidding me on Ebay, please).

Very different and very nice ,I only have a sample but this might be my next purchase as it's such a paculiar weird smell that it's strangly addictive , it lasts forever into the next day and the drydown to me is the best part. It's super creamy or let's say milky and has rice notes as well as amberette in the base. So I went to Sephora and sprayed a strip and put it in my pocket last week. The next day I put on my jacket and I smelled this super amazing milky , rice ,sandalwood smell. Very creamy and yummy ,a little sweet as well , I sniffed the sleeves of my jacket ,nope , where was this coming from ??? I was obsessed with the smell I smelled little whiffs here and there and needed to know which one of my perfumes has this heavenly drydown. I was at a loss. ,,, later in the day ,still trying to figure out where this familiar but strange smell was coming from I realized it was the tea escape test strip in my pocket. Once home i tried locating the sample they gave me and tried it on my skin. Tea escape is a very different ,milky ,rice perfume with tea notes and lime on top. Quite paradox and neat. It's one of those perfumes that you need for its uniqueness. It's strangely addictive. It's savoury , ozonic ,milky and yet fresh. Very warm ,cozy , almost hot but still fresh. It's so paradox !!!! I need it !

I received a few sample vials of Tea Escape from Nordstrom when I recently picked up my bottle of Sailing Day, and it afforded me the opportunity to revisit a scent I had long since written off. I really like this one and am surprised more men don't enjoy it. The scent definitely leans feminine, but the matcha/green tea aspects give it just the right amount of gender neutrality, counterbalancing the floral undertones. And, as others have noted, there is an almost licorice-like quality to the top notes, which I really like. As a guy this affords me the ability to smell nice when I'm tired of the amber/oud/musk contained within most modern men's fragrances. I also find that I can mix it up during the spring/summer/fall when I want something light, but am not necessarily in the mood for a citrus scent. Longevity is pretty good and I can go a good part of the work day and catch whiffs of the scent from time to time. Sillage is also slightly better than average, leaving a nice tea-like cloud in my wake. Overall, I liked this enough to pick up a full-sized bottle and have every expectation that I will use it throughout the summer and into the fall. Personally, it's a little too light to wear in the winter, but perfect for every other time of the year.

Tea Escape is unlike the usual green tea scents, it's more interesting and more realistic. At first there is a bitter note from the green tea and mate. I usually don't like bitter scents, but it is very refreshing at the same time and it also mellows down a little soon. The rice note is definitely there, as well as the milk note. It's creamy and only slightly sweet, like very fresh milk. There is nothing cloying or sour, as it sometimes happens with milk notes. Jasmine and bergamot aren't distinctive, but it's clear that there is something floral and a citrus note, it just makes everything smell more like a perfume and not like you just spilled tea and milk on yourself. As the fragrance dries down it becomes warmer, but it's still a fresh tea scent. The performance is average. I like Tea Escape on warm days, but I can imagine that it might be nice in winter, too, as a break from sweeter, warmer and more intense perfumes. On my wishlist. //edit on 11/14/18: I own this now and wore it a lot in spring and summer. I travelled to Japan in june, took a decant with me, and when I first tried a bottle of green tea from a vending machine there, it reminded me of my perfume very much. It‘s just beautiful and calming.

I knew I shouldn't have signed up for a free sample. Now I love this, but it's so expensive that I won't be able to justify it. The longevity is kind of mediocre as well, and if it wasn't so, it might go on my want/goals list. Frustrating. This is really, really cool. A definite matcha tea with noticable milky notes and minty freshness. MY LORD that opening is stunning. Everything is in balance, and it's transportive. I love when fragrances can do that, this one makes me feel like I've sat down to dinner at this local (highly regarded) sushi place in town. There's a spicy, aromatic quality that actually has an effect on the bronchials when paired with that mint...glorious. It has this slight foodie quality that you get in the air in restaurants or markets, which must be that rice note. Not very often do fragrances provide most, if not all of the notes they claim contain. This one does, and does it well. It's scrumptious and totally unisex in my opinion. If anything, I think some ladies might find it too spicy, and I'd have guessed this was more of a men's fragrance (who cares though, wear what you like). Nom. 🍚🍵

I've wanted to try this for a while, and my mom happened to get a sample in the mail with a recent Nordstrom order (along with 4 other Replica fragrances - it's like they knew she was going to give all the samples to me!). This fragrance exceeded both hopes and expectations. I love tea notes and pink pepper together (Kenzo's Tokyo comes to mind), but here I was surprised to find a solid blend of the yerba mate and green tea notes. What it ended up blending like on my skin is the very distinctive scent of roasted green tea leaves. This is my absolute FAVORITE type of tea, in part due to the distinctly nutty smell, and having it project in such a non-synthetic way on my skin was amazing. The opener had a strong jasmine presence for me, and that's died out into a subdued sweeter yet not floral scent (milk/rice combo?). Very interesting fragrance that I've never had anything like before, and I really want to pick up a full bottle now.

I miss Tea Escape ;-; Light yet so seductive. Fresh. Milky. Inviting. I will admit I got a bit of the astringency some others described but only within first maybe 15 minutes of spraying, dry down was just heavenly. This used to be my signature scent before being discontinued and I did notice as my bottle aged more of the astringency came out but that was over the course of a few years and with quite a bit of exposure to sun and light. I'm kinda afraid to try Matcha Meditation based on what others have described bc tea escape was just so well balanced for me and fear MM may be overpowering or heavy for me. tbd. Forever a 10/10 in my heart and holding a grudge against Maison Margiela lmao. I would repurchase a newly produced bottle in a heart beat but have hesitated to buy an older 3rd party bottle bc of the aging issues described but if anyone does have a bottle that's still smellin swell would happily buy a decant off you <3

I am surprised people don't view this fragrance as more versatile, seasonally. I think that cream-y, sweet quality it has makes it unique and versatile for all seasons. That being said, I do think this is definitely a day time perfume. Matcha, mint, and tapioca. It smells like a creamy boba green tea was put in front of me and I just punctured that top film in a way that caused the scent of the cup's contents to waft towards my face. It is a comforting, realistic, contemporary (strangely?) cup of refreshing green tea. I love this so much and it is great for layering because it is both creamy and fresh. I highly recommend grabbing a tester of this from Sephora. I don't think you'll regret it. It makes my mouth water! Sillage - is probably about a 1-3 foot radius. Longevity - is moderate for it to have a more substantial presence. Longevity is lengthened if you count the very close-to-skin sillage that it leaves behind.

Holy cow, this is.. this is what I've been wishing tea perfumes smelled like. Tea is the first note when I spray this, and I expected it to fade away like a lot of other opening tea notes, but this only settled in and made itself comfortable. I loved the opening, tea, mate, a bready, fresh rice I kept sniffing all the way to work, and by the time I'd got there I was starting to smell cream. The cream mixed with the chilled sweetness of the tea, and for once the cream didn't turn into a cloying vanilla on me! The miracle I'd been hoping for! I think the rice helped the cream from going too far, keeping it grounded. Longevity was great- I was still sniffing my wrists when I got in the car after work, and it traveled the most when it was two and three hours- someone sitting next to me told me it smelled incredible, but mostly it trailed me through my day and kept me company while I worked.

Instant love! This scent is a creamy, milky green-tea jasmine marvel. I don't feel like I smell like Teavana, and it is totally wearable in a way that I didn't expect. I didn't get any of the top notes on my skin, but every chemistry is different. It didn't feel oriental to me, but more like a night watching Downton Abbey while drinking a London Fog while wearing a feminine, romantic perfume. This is the first time encountering rice/milk/osmanthus and I am obsessed with the creaminess. The jasmine, mate, green tea is soft and a well rounded scent. Normally, jasmine is a harsh note on me and I loved that that wasn't the case with Escape. This is the first time my husband has ever noticed, liked, and commented on a perfume. I am so glad that he loves it as much as I do. Instant favorite go-to, holy grail.

I prefer this over other greentea fragrances like eau the vert because the smell of citrus in other greentea fragrances are too overpowering for me. (I have never associated greentea with citrus before so I was surprised that citrus was so prominent when I first tested other greentea frags. ) To me this is much closer to what greentea smells like. It's fresh but it also has this milky quality to it that I find very pleasant, and I have never smelled anything else like this before. The only things that disappoint me are its poor longevity and the fact that it is now discontinued. I don't know why they discontinued it because it's such a wonderful fragrance and it deserves so much more love. I also feel like it could have done well in Asia... If anyone knows of any dupes for this please let me know!!

So bloody hard to find now that it's discontinued! I'm actually heartbroken that I didn't purchase it when I had the chance to. Personally, I think that discontinuing this, Funfair Evening and Lipstick on was a sore mistake on the brand's behalf. Even though the other 'memories' seem bit more edgy and modern, the three mentioned above stood out to me as the most nostalgic. This is straight up milky matcha green tea - but not heavy or cloying. Hints of jasmine can be detected too, which provides a bit of warmth and elegance. This is what I would wear if I wanted to relax, but if I wanted to take myself out and make a day of it. I hope one day I can get my hands on this.

Maison Margiela Replica Tea Escape Smells like... you went to some wealthy asian friend's house. their house smells real nice, theres the heavy scent of tea around. they serve u that tea and you sip on it. you close your eyes, spaced out because it's just so quiet... just the wind blowing gently by the tree, you see it from the glass sliding door.., so relaxing.. then you look around, there's a dry bowl of rice your friend left and a glass of good milk next to you. they leave it there, you feel at home. then you sniffed again, there's a well taken care of mint bonsai on the coffee table. I couldnt smell the jasmine much, which thanks to gods not a real fan.

At first the mint is a bit more prominent than I would like (I tend to dislike mint), but this is blended together beautifully. It starts off as a fresh and fabulous tea scent. For me this is an artistic rendition of tea, very perfume-like and easy to wear for any occasion. I drink unsweetened green tea everyday and this is not a hyper realistic / plain tea scent, nor is it bitter. It does dry down to become a sweeter, milky almost vanilla green tea. I have about one more wearing left in my decant and I will miss it when I run out. I can easily see this becoming my signature scent.

I have a decant of this perfume and it is beyond lovely! The opening notes are tea + bergamot, so it is like a bright cup of Earl Grey. That quickly develops into a mellow minty green tea. The mint gradually fades, leaving that delicious matcha tea scent with milky sweetness. Just amazing development - I love every phase of this gorgeous scent. Downside is longevity - it just doesn't stick around long enough. At this price, I'd like to see more staying power, but honestly, it is so beautiful that I am still adding it to my want list. This is a must for tea lovers!

Why must I always fall in love with discontinued gems! This is everything I wanted Matcha Meditation to be. Matcha Meditation is very jasmine heavy for me and the white chocolate does not appear on my skin. This is a fresh, cup of green tea with a slightly minty touch. Soothing, slightly lactonic, I just want to sink into it. Intimate projection but about 4 hours on clothes. If it wasn't for the insane mark up, I'd be buying at least two bottles of this. I'm hoping that I can find another tea fragrance I love as much as this that isn't discontinued.

Very unique tea scent! First a bergamot blast! Then the tea, milk, mate and rice come creeping in. I smell something powdery..maybe violets? The spiciness from the pink pepper is there too, in the background. I personally didn't find this in the genre of perfumes to be called "fresh", but it's beautiful, sweet and smooth! It's really nice, but I didn't find myself wearing it very often, so I decided to sell it. Now I regret not taking a small decant from it, just to be able to smell it from time to time...

Instead of bergamot, I get a strong blast of lemon, then rice and tea in the opening. Then it dries down to something softer. I think I get a hint of mint and strong mate note. While this is a perfectly fine fragrance, I like Matcha Meditation more. Update: 03/11/2025 I sprayed again today on my clothes, not on my wrist, and I like this much more. Upgrading to love. I think this is better for spring and summer whereas Matcha Meditation is nice during colder months as well.

After a productive morning of stressful tasks to clean around the house, you finally feel the weight fading off your shoulders as you sip away to a cup of milky green tea complimented with a bowl of steaming jasmine rice, as you sit down on your cozy couch next to the glass wall overlooking the rainy forest during Japanese monsoon season. Cozy, lactonic green puffy rice tea. 9/10 Yearning for a full bottle, unfortunately this is discontinued and is extremely expensive.

I adore this perfume, it's so unique yet elegant. All the notes are present but blend into each other seamlessly. I also feel this perfume could be worn by any age, from teen to elderly. I find, at least on myself. That it wears off quickly which is it's only limitation. Except maybe, something about this sent comes off as... closed minded, uncreative. If that makes any sense. All around amazing scent.

Just received this from L.A. today. Here in Denmark where Iive it`s discontinued.. High on Happiness for this one. Green, smooth and milky. Fresh, clean and comforting. Sweet, subtle and very feminine. I really adore Maison Margiela replica line... and this one is no exception. Longevity and silage is moderate which is acceptable for an eau de toilette. Drydown is to die for...

Love! On my skin it is very clean and crisp, and just a little sweet. The tea smell is alluring, and very unique. About an hour later it sweetens, but still is very fresh smelling. I do find myself having to reapply once or twice if I want it to last the day, probably because it's so delicate. For this reason I wish it came as a rollerball.

This beautiful scent is very realistic, if you have ever had matcha then you will recognize the smell. The balance between fresh and warmer elements is perfect, it's not as fresh as a cologne nor as warm as a gourmand would be. Perfect for warmer weather, I just wish the sillage was bolder. Maybe I'll just buy a decant.

This is a dreamy soft white floral & tea scent. An incredibly refreshing white floral bouquet with a punch of citrus, mint and tea, but the osmanthus is the star of this show! I first fell for osmanthus in Gucci Flora, and wow, does this note shine in both perfumes. This scent is a standout and mood-boosting scent.

It reminds me of the time when, as a child, I always bought a bottle of iced tea in the same almost abandoned store. It's long since been discontinued, but it still has those clean, pleasant notes of citrus and green tea that slowly fade into something milkier. very nostalgic

I’m so breath taken by this creamy warm sweet tea. In the beginning it’s like an oolong jasmine, deeply steeped from fresh leaves. It’s fades off sweetly into a creamy matcha with little chocolate notes on the bottom. It was a wonder on either gender. I miss mine so much.

holy freakkkkk.. i bought 10ml of this fragrant to test and one sniff of this and i fell deeply in love omg.. it smells like oishi green tea drinks, basically green tea mix w lemon and it just sits so right with me definitely will repurchase another one

Love this. It's calming, refreshing and unusual. Such a lovely delicate scent. However I was disappointed that it was so soft and the longevity wasn't good. I'm going to give it another try though and if it lasts longer it could be a buyer.

Category: Tea, white floral, vanilla Notes: Sprays on with an immediately opulent jasmine which is quickly followed up by a fresh non-descript citrus. Within minutes a tea like character begins emerging, although the mate is more prominent than green tea. While there is a bit of milkiness to the scent, I'd describe it more as woody than lactonic. On me, the jasmine is incredibly prominent and potent and dominates the scent almost entirely. After a few hours of wear this loses the tea quality entirely and settles into a mildly sweet, powdery vanilla. Vibe: Silk sheets. Chinese paper lanterns. Bonsai. Spring bloom. Printer paper. White brick. Porcelain figurines. Tea pet. Bath house. Rest. Relaxation. Zen garden. Meditation. Pale green. Perfectly smooth, round stones. Sillage: 7.5/10. Wow! This one packs a punch compared to the other Replica line fragrances I've tried. But it isn't obnoxious, just a little more ballsy, if you can call such a delicate scent as this that. It does mellow out within a few hours and becomes very intimate. Longevity: 7/10. Slightly better longevity than I'm used to seeing with Margiela Replica fragrances. Will definitely last you a good few hours but becomes a skin scent quite fast. It feels suitable for this particular perfume though, somehow. Wear: Part of me wants to say daytime wear because it seems obvious, but something about this seems so dreamy and soft that I can't help but see this as the perfect scent to spray on before bed to assure a good night's sleep and many sweet dreams. It is lovely in the fall cold when I'm trying this on, but undeniably it has early spring written all over it. Overall rating: 8/10. Nothing like I expected and wonderful nonetheless. I expected this to lean more heavy on the tea note, seeing as Tea is in its name and all that, and maybe even a bit of sweetness but on me this is a lovely and pungent white floral. The jasmine in this is mildly indolic, but not to the point of weighing the scent down, just enough to keep that sensual and soft undercurrent throughout. The jasmine is supported by the herbal mate and its bitter, tea reminiscent smell, adding a funky and interesting twist to an otherwise safe scent. I've never smelled anything quite like this before, perhaps the closest I've come to it before is Mugler's Alien, but of course Alien lacks the herbal character and the jasmine in it leans more cool, clean and modern compared to Tea Escape that has an undeniable warmth. After a few hours this also reaches a mildly powdery vanilla which Alien in my experience doesn't, I unfortunately don't pick up the rice which is unfortunate as I'm looking for a perfume with a prominent rice note. If nothing else this gets big points for it's uniqueness and almost ethereal, otherworldly quality. This definitely leans quite feminine, but I think it would smell absolutely gorgeous on a man if he dared go against the grain and revolt against traditional expectations. Who would wear it?: Legolas in Lord of the Rings. Elsa in Frozen.

I really was on the fence with Tea Escape for awhile. It smelled incredibly fresh and light on paper, and almost immediately on my skin, it transformed into something else. Happens a lot with me, but this particular fragrance changes almost constantly with my chemistry, making it nearly impossible to decide whether I enjoyed it or couldn't handle it. Now I'm glad I gave it a fair shot. I asked for a sample at Sephora because of the paper test, and then I sprayed it on me as soon as I got a chance. It was pretty and light and sweet, but there was this deeper, sweet, slightly powdery note that initially turned me off. Close up sniffs on my skin were kind of grossing me out. I thought I smelled like an old lady (I know the "old lady perfume" probably changes with the times, and many of my old favorites are probably in that category now, but I smell that old lady smell in many of the expensive perfumes like Annick Goutal). However, every now and then I'd get this light, dancing, sweetly clean whisper of scent when the wind blew, and I would realize it was ME. I tried out for a concert event with friends, and every person that hugged me said I smelled amazing. When I want to smell fresh and clean, I normally wear Grass from the Gap (yes I do. See what I mean about rocking weird scents with my chemistry?), but Tea Escape smells similarly fresh, smells better on clothes (and sticks around for hours on them), and it is a richer, more sophisticated fresh scent than I normally can find. It seriously grew on me so much, and I even bought a travel spray so I can take this one with me. I've NEVER bought a travel bottle where I have to do extra work with to take on trips and such. This one is different, truly unique. Don't let the "green tea" fool you, this has much more to offer.

I'm a fan of both tea-centered scents and creamy gourmands, on the condition that they're done well. And Tea Escape is a very well made fragrance that at some point in the development morphs into a very nice, seemless combination of both of these - so it goes without saying I'm a fan of it as well. At least that's how I feel about it after it's had some time to settle, because I find the opening lacks the harmony of the later phases: the green tea combined with bergamot is rather sharp at first, and to my nose it clashes just a little with the milk and rice notes, which are also fresh and realistic and not very sweet at that point. So my first impression was slightly disappointing, but very soon Tea Escape begins to warm up on the skin, and then it isn't long before it fulfills all the promise of that original, enticing note pyramid that looks good enough to eat. For a long time the tea stays dominant and its realistically earthy, bitter character keeps the scent from straying into full-on dessert territory, but it sticks around all day, getting sweeter all the time, and it does get there in the end. This daylong, very enjoyable transition between the cold, rather bitter opening and the warm, sweet drydown is what makes this fragrance, I think. And it's very wearable and versatile as well - I can't imagine a situation where this would be out of place. I'm not sure yet whether I'll add this to my wish list. On one hand, it's not quite a love for me, and I know by experience I tend to avoid scents where I don't enjoy the opening very much, however much I know I like the way they dry down. But on the other hand, I do like Tea Escape very much, and the perfume hoarder (or let's say "collector") in me is clamoring for a little decant. We'll see!

Tea Escape opens with Japanese matcha and a hint of cool mint, which is a very nice surprise to me as I've yet encountered a tea fragrance that reminds me of matcha. There's also a gentle milky sweetness underlying the bitterness of matcha. Therefore, the overall effect is reminiscent of matcha ice cream, delicious and refreshing as a summer treat. There's a brief moment after about 20 minutes, when a strange burnt note peeks through. But luckily, it fades rather quickly and never comes back afterwards. As the fragrance dries down, the milk gradually takes over. At the same time, the matcha association also start to fade, and turns into a jasmine green tea instead. The green tea and pink pepper being sharp and fresh, makes an intriguing contrast with the roundness of milk and rice, although the sharpness can be a bit too much at times. The sillage is moderate to soft and the longevity is around 5 hours. The transition from matcha ice cream to jasmine tea scented latte in Tea Escape is truly a delicious escape, and the milkiness makes it more comforting than most green tea fragrances in cooler weather. If you happen to crave a tea-flavoured dessert, Tea Escape might very well fit the bill.

I bought a bottle of this when it was on deep discount at a Swedish cosmetics retailer's post Christmas sale (either in 2015 or 2016), before I got really interested in perfume, and then completely forgot about it. Tried it occasionally over the years when I found it in the back of my closet, but got some weird unpleasant sharpness/bitterness/astringentness (maybe it was the bergamot?) so just returned it the closet to be forgotten once more. Gave it a whirl again today and whatever was bothering me has completely mellowed out. It starts out quite refreshing, mint and floral with the milk and rice note already adding some creaminess. You can also pick up a bit of the tea and mate, but it's not overpowering. It dries down into green tea mochi ice cream, which is quite nice. Reminds me of when I was in college in the mid 2000s, where it was a joke among my friends that I was the only person who ate the green tea ice cream (Edy's Matcha Green Tea iykyk) that showed up for some reason in our dining hall's ice cream freezer, so I basically had my own private 5 gallon container. Glad I held onto it all these years. Still love green tea ice cream.

I'm a big, big, tea fan and anything with 'Tea' in the name definitely peaks my interest, especially 'Tea escape' I have to say I'm undecided and will definitely take another sample to work out just what's going on? I think it's the rice in here? There's definitely an unknown herbal type element to it? I think I know what rice smells like but I've not sure whether it belongs in a fragrance I want to wear. I will give tea escape this...it's a unique, almost odd proposition, even the tea is not a smoky, aromatic earl grey, neither is it classically dry or metallic? But it is definitely tea. Tea is typically coupled with citrus notes and it's refreshing that Maison Martin Margiela and Pellegrin have decided to go in a different direction with it. The osmanthus and floral element shouldn't be downplayed in this fragrance because it is a big part and as it settles offers up a unique flavour which reminds me of Lush products. That mixture of natural and synthetic it really is a very interesting smell. Must return to this one because I was tempted to buy it just for strangeness and had to refrain.

Of the Maison Margiela lineup, I was most looking forward to the potential in this particular fragrance! Some of the other scents looked equally as inviting, but were disappointments. I'm still on the fence about Tea Escape! The opening is very unique; Calming, like a creamy and warm green tea drink - the osmanthus/rice is extremely prominent throughout the scent, which is a nice change from the citrus notes that are usually paired with tea! It makes for a "round" scent vs. something sharp. The jasmine here is VERY subtle, almost unnoticeable, and pleasant even for a jasmine-hater like myself. Through the drydown there's something a little too 'perfumey'/common/less interesting in the composition that makes me remove this from my potential-want list, as I like my green tea scents to be a little more realistic & natural smelling. Tea Escape had something interesting going...buuuuut then it lost it. Could still be the perfect Green Tea scent for someone out there! It's certainly pleasant!

Does not smell like Matcha Meditation (MM) from the same Maison Margiela Replica line. MM is overbearingly strong on the soapy, slightly indolic jasmine. No tea, white chocolate, or sweetness found. Whereas, Tea Escape has a creaminess to it. The rice is like soft rice pudding essenced with tea that’s not too herbal or green. Like it’s not the plants or loose tea. This is a cup of tea that has cooled and was added to the rice mix before baking the pudding for flavoring. The milk also included is milk but not a sour lactonic kind. More like an ingredient used to add richness mimicking lush white florals like gardenia. The jasmine is tamed in here and the mint adds a nice sweet touch but isn’t too minty in the opening and is found slightly throughout adding a sparkle. I also get an essence of apricot skin from one that isn’t too ripe. Not too tart, or fruity. Just a touch. Longevity is moderate, projection is intimate.

The notes intrigued me so I got my hands on a sample. I do like this scent and find it to be unique. I pretty much only pick up the mint note. It is very much like a mint leaf, so very true to life. I imagine this would be refreshing after a workout and on summer nights. A nice pick me up :) I like the drydown about 5 mins in a bit better than initial spray as the notes have settled a bit more and there is some tea smell. If I could get my hands on this one for cheaper than retail I would get it. Otherwise I will stretch out my sample. ETA: Three years later and I own a full bottle! My nose has definitely taken a liking to this gentle combo. I like this on evenings, where I have had a migraine and am starting to feel better. Very gentle and perfect for sleep!

A fresh spring/summer-scent. Fresh Tea with some Mint, Rice and Milky Jasmine. Very nice, almost skinclose (I like). A bummer its gone within 2 hours on my skin. I was gifted a sample and I like it alot, but I don't think this shortlived scent is worth the money - If you find it for bargin - go for it. If you're a daring man who likes milky teanotes - try it. En fräsch vår/sommardoft. Fräscht Te med lite mint, Ris och mjölkmjuk Jasmin. Trevlig, nästan hudnära (vilket jag gillar). Dumt nog är den borta inom 2 timmar på min hud. jag fick ett sample och jag gillar den men tycker inte att priset matchar prestationen - men hittar du den på rea så slå till. Om du som man gillar mjölkiga mjuka tenoter - så testa den.

I have come to love this fragrance. It is not the normal vibe I go for, but I find it quite addictive. This scent is fresh and green, but somehow also comforting and enveloping. On my skin the mint note really pops. Very herbal mint tea with an underlying richness from the milky jasmine and osmanthus. A strange creature that is somehow comforting and cozy enough to be suitable in cold weather, but light and green enough to not be too overpowering in hot weather. However, on my husband this scent is entirely different than on me. On his skin the prominent notes are the florals and the jasmine seems thick and heady. We both prefer the way it smells on me.

It smells exactly just like bubble tea! O_O I've tried most of Replica perfumes and they are really spot on! If you want realistic smelling perfume, look no further! They really got the vibe of what they describe on the perfume. My only complaint is the weak sillage (at least on me and my dad) and poor longevity. I don't mind reapplying but I am hoping I can smell it more for the price. It wasn't crazy expensive but it's a lot to ask for a scent that is weaker than cologne. The scents are really lovely though and unusual unlike the generic perfume you smell everywhere.

Gorgeously comforting green tea scent. I mean it just feels good. Easy to wear. Normally I can't handle milk scents, they make me nauseous. But the addition of bitter tea creates a nice combo that takes the sickly edge off the milk, the notes work very well together. I also get the mint a little more than the jasmine, which I like. This could be an amazing relaxing summer night scent. I could probably bathe in this, it's the kind of waft you'd never feel worried about leaving behind you. This is a scent for a calm person, or someone who wants to be calm.

Got a full bottle in September last year and it matches the environment so well in early autumn because of the osmanthus. It has more zen features and is more oriental than the latest release from MMM, Matcha Meditation, which is sweeter and has more citrus and flower elements. When I choose to spend my whole afternoon alone in a traditional tea shop, I will wear this fragrance to just feel relaxed and nonchalant about messy things in my life. Great fragrance in general.

@Amber Spice, perhaps you bought a fake bottle? Those are known to have practically no scent whatsoever because they're mostly alcohol and water with a small amount of fragrance. To my nose, Tea Escape smells very similar to Matcha Meditation. It is a light and bright scent that is clean and unisex. There is some sweetness, but it is more floral than Matcha Meditation. The dry down is very herbal and minty. If anyone is selling a bottle at a decent price please DM me

Yum. Love the idea behind this scent, and it contains some of my favorite unique notes such as matcha, rice, and creamy milk. However, something about it kinda bothers me... The pleasant bitterness of the matcha kinda turns into a Sharpie marker aftertaste on my skin (maybe because of the mint?). But overall, from just a whiff, this fragrance is perfect. But it's not a "love" simply because of the slight Sharpie scent aftertaste I'm getting.
