Bain De Midi

One of my greatest weaknesses in perfumery is the coconut tiare suntan tropical beach vibe perfumes. I want them all, or at least try them all. Today Bain De Midi became my newest addition or should I say addiction. This little gem from a perfume house that I have never heard of before, may have become the queen in my little collection A blend of Coconut vanilla and tiare, this could have gone so wrong, because it has been done before, several times, so there is nothing new here, except this is perfect. The vanilla is yummy, but not gourmand, the coconut is not synthetic and the tiare is oh so stunning. This is not similar to hibiscus palm, it is more in the vein of terracotta and intense tiare, but I dare say that I find this to be superior to those. I am already contemplating getting a back up. May I ad the bottle is adorable.

My winter salvation. Feels like a fresh gourmand with lovely white flowers undertone. Beautifull and much better than expected. Tiare flower itself smells absolutely divine and no perfume I have or have tried is anywere close to the source, nor is this one and it is for the better. It does not smell chemical or suntanlotiony, something that I was expecting, but flowery sweet and adorable and I am always amazed to catch a wiff of my skin or clothes when wearing Bain de Midi. The scent is a lot better than the bottle would suggest.

Wow. This is a knock-out if you like creamy, coconutty white florals, and for the price, such a joy! The coconut is quite obvious on my skin actually, and there's a hot sand note I pick up on too. Luscious and simple, with a soapy, sweet cleanness that is the icing on the cake. BIG LOVE here. No obvious synthetic notes: not screechy or loud. And I love the brand's (i) packaging and (ii) ethics. So glad I found both this brand and Bastille, who I see as kind of in the same ball park but a bit closer to niche on the spectrum.

One of the best fragrances I've smelled in the last couple of months and I've probably tried 30+ scents. It's a creamy, yellow floral, tropical scent at its finest. Very well blended. Similar to Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, maybe little lighter. Great for any occasion in summer. Perfect for beach vacation in warmer climate. Smells amazing. Can't get enough of it. I love the cute 15ml bottle.

this fragrance is soooo gorgeous!! i’m a sucker for white florals and ylang-ylang so this is right up my ally. i assume this is supposed to be a summery “sunscreen”-type fragrance, but if that was the intention, i don’t get that here at all. instead, i get a very pleasant, sweet white floral that i think is just so gorgeous!! i just wish it lasted longer on the skin

Just what you would expect - a sunny scent that brings back summer memories... Dreamy. A burst of Monoi with a musky drydown. To be honest, there was something about Soleil Blanc that I didn't like so this is better to my nose. And it also lasts better on me. Will definitely consider a full bottle next summer. :)

i'm a beach fragrance connoisseur and this is on my list of favorites! it never goes full oily sunscreen, but it does have the same coconutty-ylang-yalng-tiare-vanilla base that a lot of sunscreen fragrances do. this is much fresher and feels like a cooling breeze on a boppin' beach.

Got this as a blind buy because the bottle was so cute. This smells like what I think sunscreen smells like, and to me that's a perfect summer scent. I can understand why it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I love it :) The only minus for me is the horrible texture of the top lid.

This perfume to me is Mediterranean summer in a bottle. Love wearing it in late spring early summer to get me in the mood for holidays. Unfortunately is a 'weak' perfume and it doesn't really last.

Matches well with hawaiian tropic after sun’s coconut, found myself combining those two all summer. Very sunscreeny scent, but in a pleasant mild way.

Sweet summer coconut and flowers. Fun playful and summery.

When I first got into this perfume hobby, or should I say obsession? I fell in love with ‘Nomade Naturelle’ by Chloé. I read that ‘Bain De Midi’ reminded people of ‘Nomade Naturelle’ and I blindly put BDM on my wish list. Now that I have had my sample of BDM for a good while I can confidently say that they are similar in a way, but they are pretty far from each other. Not even as close as cousins. ‘Bain De Midi’ is creamy and soft, but with a strong white floral, and an absolute beach vibe to it. Coconut, ylang, and tiaré are some of my big-time summer favourite notes, but with that sweet vanilla it could easily fall into a trap of being too heavily cloying. Fortunately, BDM does not get like that! Gardenia takes the room and turns this into a perfume that leans more closely into a white floral scent. Together with the bergamot it is giving that little oomph to the sweet and creamy, and the musk makes it into a clean floral rather than a cloying gourmand. At times this could feel slightly juvenile, but then the wind turns and this transforms into something perfectly modern. A fragrance that fits every occasion and age... It is still not close enough to be a replacement for ‘Nomade Naturelle’ but this is good enough to stand up for itself!

I love this scent profile, it is however very very similar to Bronze Goddess but the Eau Fraiche I would say. I own both and sprayed them side by side, almost can't tell the difference at first so if you own that one, it's not worth having this too unless you really like this type of perfume. Luckily I got a 15ml bottle only, it does seem a bit more long-lasting and has a stronger projection than Bronze Goddess Eau Fraiche (which is more of a skin scent with little projection). Bain de Midi is not as tropical as Bronze Goddess I would say, if I didn't read the notes I would mostly get gardenia with a bit of bergamot in the opening, it's overall sweeter and more white floral than BG. Bronze Goddess is fresher, with more tiare in it and there is only a hint of coconut to support it, while in Bain de Midi I don't get any coconut whatsoever. Overall a nice scent for the price, this will be perfect for travelling and the little bottle is very very cute but I think I can live without a big bottle. I'm saving up for a Soleil Blanc which is much more sophisticated and versatile than this EDT, but up the same alley.

Maison Matine Bain de Midi is a sun-drenched floral that opens with white and yellow blooms, the tiare note immediately calling to mind Estée Lauder’s Bronze Goddess, though softer and milkier here, with a quiet sweetness rather than an overt coconut slant. It sits comfortably in summer territory, but I find it better suited to a breezy terrace than the peak of a heatwave. On the hottest days it feels a touch heavy, and the drydown leans more feminine-floral than I’d like. I tend to gravitate toward something crisper and more unisex. A well-crafted fragrance, and easy to appreciate, but it doesn’t quite match my skin or my mood. 6/10

I’m not a big fan of tropical perfumes. I sold my Alien goddess because of this and soleil blanc is a big no. But the coconut in this one is discreet and lingers in the background. It is a very dreamy, summery scent with some soapiness to it that reminds me of a dove soap bar in a good way. The ylang ylang, coconut, vanilla and musk is what makes this a truly enjoyable perfume for me. And so far I am so impressed by this house! I own Hasard Bazar and Nature insolente (the BEST aromatic citrusy perfume i’ve ever smelled) and want to try the rest of them too! Highly recommend

This scent smells like a resort in Mexico to me. At least, those are the memories that come to mind when I smell this. It is very sunscreen-y, which I normally do not like, but in this case I love it! Very sunscreen, floral, and vanilla heavy (in that order), with the woody notes as a nice background. The epitome of summer, it's amazing. My brother says it smells like a rich person's living room, so do with that what you will.

It smells like the ABC store in Hawaii! The scent of the sea tide, coconuts, tropical flowers, sunscreen, the scent of these souvenirs, and the scent of the people who shop. It reminds me of the blazing sun and dry heat of Hawaii. fun. But I'm not the type of person who looks good in such a dazzling sun, so I don't think I'll use it on a daily basis. I will use it as a sleeping perfume when I want to go to Hawaii in my dreams.

Beach in a bottle. You need to love sunscreen perfumes for sure... Tiare, ylang ylang , white flowers. Not so original but efficient. Good value for the price & quality. The 15 mL format is perfect for holidays and travels! Thanks Maison Matine, it is one of the perfumes of my vacation :) - wheat alcohol comes from organic farming - packaging are made of recycled and recyclable cartons

Bain de Midi is perfect for summer! ☀️ It smells like sun cream, long afternoons tanning and drinking cocktails when the sun goes down. It’s a great value for the price, as all the other perfumes from Maison Matine. It’s definitely on the sweet side but very wearable. It makes me think of the Huile Prodigieuse from Nuxe. I love this seasonal scent 🌊

Bain de Midi is a lovely hot day fragrance that oozes fun and playfulness, I get mainly the ylang-ylang and the Gardenia with a little soft musk. I definitely think a man could carry this off especially around a pool or bar area that doesn't require strong mens frags. I for one love it. X

I have a decant of this and I'm saving it for an upcoming beach vacation. This is beach in a bottle. I love it so much. Beautiful beachy florals and coconut. I'm not quite sure how it could be more perfect. I want to get a mini bottle when my no buy is over.

This is a perfume for warm weather. It feels light and more floral on me. I don't detect the coconut notes, which note I usually dislike in perfumes. It smells simple, but fresh. Although it is not included in my favorites, it is a nice, timid perfume.

More flower-y than coconut-ty , absolutely feminine like the 80% of the fragrances of Maison Matine, they are barely unisex, well crafted, non opulent... Worth a try if you're searching for something "Easy" but appreciable

It seems like there is a real tiare flower right underneath my nose. It's so pure and real without any artificial flavour. There is also a hint of coconut and ylang ylang. It smells so good.

Realistic white floral I smell when I walk into a flower garden in spring time. To me, it’s more spring than summer. You’ll smell like you are carrying a bouquet of flowers :)

Very sunscreeny and I even get a strong hit of banana at the opening. Nice paired atop sunscreen for a very summery vibe!

Oh man I wish I wasn't such a sucker for pretty bottles...I totally thought I was getting a sunscreen coconut, creamy concoction good for the summer, but boy was I wrong!! This is a quite heavy white floral with tiare and gardenia, I can feel almost only that...yes it ́s creamy but it totally clashes with the sea/summer surfing idea the bottle suggests. If you live in warmer weather this will be too much for the day in summer, but it can be a nice evening scent. This reminds me of Gardenia rattan from Aerin but much stronger and amped up...I will keep updating once I am able to test them side to side. Oh and longevity is monstrous.

Beautiful summer composition. It was immediately opened by white flowers (jasmine, gardenia). And somewhere even as if it even seemed tuberose slightly "chewing-gumish" and just a little bit milky. You can feel the air and water in the composition, so it can not make you suffocate. When I inhale the fragrance, I immediately imagine a picture of a sunny day and a flower field at the moment of maximum active blooming. I agree with the previous comments - I don't feel either coconut or bergamot at all.

А summer scent for sure. Carefree and effortless, with no pretensions. I do miss a bergamot citrusy note. I think it would have fit beautifully here. Tiaré and ylang-ylang are quite prominent. Longevity is poor though. I really like the atomizer and the bottle design. Overall, I tried 3 perfumes from this house, and none of them hit the mark for me.

Fizzy citruses mixed with white flowers and a bit of green and musky notes. It smells very fresh and summery and also kind of girly. Reminds me a bit of suntan lotion and tropical cocktails. Nice but simple. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Bought a 15ml bottle blind... and had to give it to my daughter as it's so feminine. Just get the ylang-ylang and nothing else. No other beachy vibes, just big white floral. Which of course isn't a bad smell, just not one for me!

This one is a little too shrill/sweet for me. A bit cloying. The flowers are amped up to their sweetest, tinniest voice, almost screechy but not quite. Not my favorite beachy floral.

Am I the only one who gets cloves? Why? Where is the coconut? I blind bought this and it smells like la beaute du diable, and it lasts very long... interesting...

Opens up with a sunscreen vibe, dry down is heavy white flowers. Nothing unique just ok. Definitely woman oriented scent.

Never smelt a more Sunscreen/body lotion perfume before. If you want to smell like scented body lotion here you go enjoy

I honestly am not sure what people see in this. I really dislike it. Maybe it's the profile I'm not a fan of. It feels so strong fake suntan lotion for me. Maybe the florals I'm getting are not for me, or the coconut, I honestly don't know what it is. But this was awful on me, and I couldn't even finish the sample. Binned it.

Wanted to like this as it’s the quintessential summer scent, but the opening is CLOYINGGG- unfortunately, it pulled very “artificial banana candy” on me which is not something I want to smell during a heat wave :( I’ll give it another try when it’s not 95 degrees out

Tiare is the arrogant star of the show - Super heady, overwhelming and strong. It’s super realistic, so it’s less synthetic. It drowns all the other notes. Heavy chemical sunscreen lotion and tiare flower.

Agree with GeorgieP below - no beachy vibes at all (don’t let the bottle fool you). Just straight up talcum powder. Not for me.

I’ve found my previous reviews from the MM discovery set so I’m on a review binge of only my tops and bottoms from it. This is a bottom. This is rock bottom. Hell even. I HATED this. I scrubbed it. I was shocked as it’s the most popular from MM. extremely overwhelming musk and spoiled suncream with 0 coconut. Yuck! I rarely give super strong negative reviews but this is right up there with by the fireplace.

WHAT! I've had Poom Poom, Avant L'Orage, and Bain De Midi for about 6 months and I've never worn them. These are so good! This is your floral, beachy, suntan lotion fragrance but this one focuses on the tiara flower as opposed to coconut. It's not indolic in anyway so if Bora Bora was too indolic or too heavy for you, but you like summer tropical florals, give this a go. I purchased the 15mL bottles from Urban Outfitters since they are always out of stock on So Avant Garde. The gardenia is making this more wearable for those of us not living on a beach or somewhere tropical. It has that energy and feel, but the gardenia makes it wearable anywhere. While I'm not the biggest fan of gardenia and it's very prominent, I have so many perfumes in this category I like for all of them to feature something a little different so they don't get redundant in my collection. I have Bora Bora, Olympea Solar, Bronze Goddess (amber), Alien Goddess Intense (jasmine), Dolce Garden, Utopia Vanilla Coco (Coconut), La Vie Est Belle Soleil Crystal (Iris), Ylang in Gold (Ylang Ylang), Very Sexy Oasis (tuberose), Coconut Sun, and Vacation so I guess you could say I like this DNA. My favorite is Bora Bora followed by Olympea Solar and Alien Goddess Intense. Bora Bora is SUPER creamy and floral, featuring frangipani and it's slightly indolic. They all feature something a little different, with Bain De Midi featuring gardenia. Projection and longevity are all excellent for this scent.

Two of my favourite perfume notes are coconut and ylang-ylang. While searching for fragrances with these notes, I found this perfume and got myself a sample. I was surprised, because the scent transforms into something completely different — instead of a beach vibe, it feels like sitting under a white-blossom tree with my grandmother. It’s a pleasant, fresh, and quite nostalgic scent for me, but definitely not beachy. Regardless, I want to purchase it and keep it in my collection for spring days — it makes me feel as if I’m wandering through a beautiful garden of white blossoms, with my grandma smiling at me.

I was really looking forward to sampling this on my search for a not too expensive tropical/sunny fragrance. That it is, smelling exactly like the floral suncream one would expect. However, I must continue my search as this has an off-putting note, especially in the opening, and as I feel it is missing some texture, either sparkly or creamy. Good option though for for those looking for a cheap, simple, suncream fragrance.

OMG!! This is real ? It's pure Tiaré / Monoi BOMB scent, better than Intense Tiaré, Soleil Blanc because it's less synthetic. If you like Soleil Blanc Tom Ford, Intense Tiaré Montale or Holidays Mancera, you will love this one. The sillage and projection is very good. You are in Tahiti, Hawai with this perfume. THIS IS SUMMER SCENT ! PERIOD !
