Un Jour Sans Fin

slightly bitter, oily pistachio leads a smoky vanilla base. sweetness settles on the skin over the course of the day but never veers into sickliness. beautiful.

Not sure exactly how to feel about this yet. I thought it would have a more grounded and sweet scent so I was really taken aback when trying it for the first time. In the opening it has very screechy, artificial wood, smoke, the vague idea of pistachio and something screechingly clean and frozen. The combination of these gives me something that comes across very synthetic and impersonal. I cant tell if its because of the dreamwood, cetalox or the ambrettolide but I hate it (I havent smelled these notes before and none of the other things listed in the pyramid have ever smelled like that to me). Thankfully the synthetic aspect gets toned down a lot as the vanilla appears. At that point it smells like sweet pistachio, kind of creamy, very musky with a bit of dry smokiness, and the synthetic notes add some lightness. It smells a bit like skin which I think might be the next stage of what overwhelmed me in the beginning. The longevity on this is enormous, I could smell it 24 hours later as thin, skin like sweetness. Projection is moderate. What I like about it is that it doesnt feel overwhelming after the first hour so you could potentially wear on the daily. To me, it matches the description that was provided by the brand,it feels like you woke up with a terrible hangover, thinking "What on earth happened yesterday" and then it slowly comes back to you as you have a cozy slow morning, basking in the sun. Un Jour Sans Fin starts where Disco Inferno from the same collection ends, like the woods present in that scent carried over as the smokiness in this one. In that context I can appreciate the screechy vibe in the beginning HOWEVER I urge you to test this before buying! Overall I really dont know how to feel about it but it intrigues me to the point where I want to constantly wear it to figure it out. OH AND ALSO IF I SMELLED THIS ON A MAN I WOULD GO ABSOLUTELY FERAL. Thats it thats the review. EDIT: That wasnt the whole review, my perception of the scent has changed after wearing it a few more times and getting used to the new for me notes! Opening is much smokier, with a subtle skin scent, very strong sweet pistachio, and something slightly cooling along with wood. Then, the vanilla becomes more prominent and deep, and as the scent wears it becomes more and more skin like, but still soft, nutty and smoky. I changed my rating from ok to love because it is exactly what I envisioned, it just took my nose some time to get there!

Smells VERY strongly of pistachio. I can't decide how I feel about it. Might be better to layer with other scents because the pistachio is nice but doesn't feel very complex. (Edited to add: My bad, I absolutely should have sampled this on skin first. It's actually lovely. Not very strongly pistachio, just slightly nutty and creamy. I normally don't like incense but it is very subtle here).

For pistachio lovers, fully unisex. As with all Maison Matine scents, the bottle design is modern, making it a great "lifestyle" piece. Original, I see this perfume more in a slightly eccentric personality.

Blanch bete with a woodier base and pistachio making it a bit masculine. It's okay I guess.
