Sel-Vanille

I bought this right after I have finished my bottle of YSL Libre intense, and I fell in love with it, I would say they have some similarities, while this one for me at least is more versatile scent, as it is great for day and night. I have received multiple compliments on it and some say that when they smell it it reminds them of me which I absolutely love. When I got it I also received testers of other scents by the same brand, but this one still wins my heart. I would not say that it smells very "fresh" on me at least, it is a clean vanilla with some other notes that I notice myself most of the time. Probably will repurchase it as the price is great at my perfume shop (110euro for 100ml) and it lasted almost 2 years for me while using it not everyday and mixing things up sometimes. I wish the longevity was better as I want to smell it all of the time on myself. If I had to describe the scent as a feeling I would say that it feels like you just got out of the shower and went out with your close friends for a cozy evening in a local bar. Probably that's because it reminds me of these type of evenings as I would smell this scent on my scarf.

This is vanilla for people who don’t want vanilla to behave badly. It is like the good tempered little sister to Vanilla Vibes - really just as good, but minus all the sligthly 'chaotic JHAG edges' I struggle a bit with on the wrong day. It’s airy, gently sweet and softly mineral — more “salt-kissed skin with vanilla warmth” than dessert. No icing sugar, no sharp synthetic edges, no headache territory. Just calm, elegant, quietly addictive vanilla that works year-round and layers beautifully. It’s not loud or showy, but it is VERY very wearable and refined! If you like your gourmands grown-up, restrained and a little understated, Sel Vanille is a very easy love.

Really like this one. I think vanilla is hard to do for the summertime without a ton of fruits employed, but the vanilla is done so well here. I think it’s that sage. The herbal-ness is so addicting to me, I find myself thinking about it even on days when I’m not wearing this lol. It’s SO refreshing, a little minty, and an overall relaxed effortlessly cool feel. On skin the vanilla shines. On clothes I get a lot of that jasmine. It’s a bit hard to get samples of this so I thought I’d try another marine vanilla out (Levante by Nobile), thinking they’d be similar. But NOPE, I really need that sage!

A comparison with L'Artisan Parfumeur's Coleur Vanille as they are both salty vanillas. This is a little more oceanic with a slight herbal feel to which I assume is the sage. CV is more basic to me.....just a very salty, addictive vanilla. I love both. This is just beautifully crafted...it's is linear but at the same time, it's not boring. I can not stop smelling myself. I'll wear this tomorrow to work to determine is longevity. This can definitely be worn in summer, as it's not a cloying vanilla but almost refreshing. A sexy summer night is what I imagine! Love.

This lasts forever on my skin ! Sprayed it at 2pm and still had it on my wrist the next day in the morning! ! In the beginning I am getting sweet mint freshens. That changes into salty beach vibe and Vanilla at the end lasts forever! I bought the full bottle the next day ... my husband loves it on me 😀 Edit: I was trying to figure out why I smell sweet mint and I found out it is actually sage what I smell 😀 but I literally smell delicious sweet mint chewing gum !! I spray it in my hair and the smell lasts the whole day !

Exactly what one might expect by the note breakdown and name, a light and fresh marine vanilla. Smells like watery herbals more than anything, with a dash of sea salt, a smidge of vanilla, and a touch of uplifting jasmine that gives everything a refreshing breeziness. Moderate projection for ~3hr, faint whiffs through 5-6hr, longevity 8-10hr. Sorry to say I've never put my nose to Wood Sage & Sea Salt to compare. Sure as heck beats the pants of Vanilla Vibes, though, and the performance is solid.

If you find Olympea to be too screechy and cloying and were looking for something that was more of a casual skin scent this is a very nice alternative. It's not quite as marine/aromatic as I would like, but at least it doesn't have the cloying syrupy sweet gourmand feel of Olympea. It reminds me a lot of Glasshouse Melbourne Muse, which does have an additional coffee note and is a little more floral, but if you want to try something with a similar vibe I would recommend that too

Wow, pleasant blind buy with wicked performance. A simple unadulterated vanilla with the sweetness toned down by a touch of salt on top - and just a touch of sweet syrupy peach on top. Not that you register it’s salt unless your nose is to skin. Together with a bit of amber bodying out the vanilla it simply leaves you with a mature unisex vanilla that I have yet to compare - killer longevity and sillage - I’m getting 24 hours with a large waft. 10/10 - all I could ask for

In my desperate search of the perfect summer aquatic fragrance, this has become my favorite quickly. How depressed I am that summer will soon be closing her doors on us. This is what I needed this summer, this would have healed me and fixed me. The vanilla, the herbs, the ocean air... it shouldn't make sense but it does. This! is sex on the beach. Fresh but with a vanilla mineral depth that says 'take me' to the man you met on a tropical holiday. Whilst giving summer holiday romance vibes could easily be an anytime of year, date night fragrance for men or women. Starts fresh and aquatic but quickly sinks into vanilla warmth with woody grounding. I've just sprayed it on my man....let's see what happens

I've had this for a while now and getting to the end of the bottle. Sage dominant creamy vanilla with a touch of salt. I adore this fragrance. It's unique. Nothing quite like it and I have a huge vanilla collection. It lasts for a good 6hrs on skin and days on clothes. Can be worn in all seasons. Definitely full bottle worthy and I will be replacing mine very soon.

So smooth and creamy and yet marine/aquatic as well without those mineral notes that can get odd...a true dream combo for me. The vanilla is not super sweet which is a relief, but so very addictive and ....clean, refreshing. It's a simple scent and I'm finding it delicious. No, not gourmand delicious but a delight. It's not very strong tho, longevity...mmmm...

i have spent about 150$ over the past year buying 10ml decants of this because i am perpetually too broke to full send it and send 220 on a 100ml but my god i should just do it. love this perfume it reminds me of my childhood :) ocean air and whispers of sage & jasmine and VANILLA!!!

Creamy salty vanilla. Definitely tropical vacation scent. This scent feels like how a mermaid on a tropical island would smell, like a soft warm breeze near the sea. Makes me feel like i have been tanning my shiny skin all day near the ocean

who doesn't wanna smell like the beach? Edit: I've had this for four months now and the salty notes have kind of disappeared? It's almost like a completely different fragrance.

It smells exactly like if you were to dip a graham cracker in ocean water and leave it out to dry. 9/10, a little sweeter than expected, but very unisex

snow on the beach... a platinum blonde mermaid ... la petite fille de la mer by vangelis as a scent... this is indeed the most perfect vanilla.

Rating: 🙂🐻❄️🩰🧸 Do I like it: Yep Who it is: a clean, soft girl in a cashmere sweater on vacation Smells I get: powder, violet, vanilla, salt Meyer's Briggs type: ISFJ, INFJ Look, it's lovely, but it has little to nothing to do with the notes. It's vanilla powder with a gentle violet in the background, then salt. It's the olfactory equivalent of relaxing ambient music. Considering I sampled most of their line over a couple of months, I strongly suspect that Maison Tahite perfumes are just overloaded with cashmere/musk/powder notes, and use whatever is in the name as additional flavourings, usually incorrect at that. Think scented eyeshadow. This is my overall favourite, and the only one whose "goodness" doesn't rely on it being a sugar bomb, and relies on a balanced, well blended composition. Lastly, I'll add that though it's a skin scent that I sometimes wear to bed, it lasts... suprisingly long, and it's there next morning. But it's not really prominent, just very pleasant, where the latter I find more important anyway.

Not quite the "walk on the beach" folks had described to me-- if it is a walk on the beach, it's less of your postcard perfect beach with fine sand, a bright sun, and warm weather, than it is a walk on the beach in the cold at night in a small town with real seasons-- not many vacationers even in the summer, but any that were around are gone now. You're out in a cashmere sweater, standing on a rock formation as the waves crash softly and the cold nips at your skin. Not necessarily worse, but certainly different. This isn't a scent that screams "vacation." The sage is more prominent than I was expecting, and the vanilla was slightly less prominent than I was expecting. It's overall aquatic, but not necessarily summery.

I like this but it's not the realistic marine salty vanilla that I expected, it's rather a herbal vanilla with some saltiness in the opening. It also smells a bit like a men's cologne with a strong vanilla base in the opening. It dries down to a cosy vanilla, but not beachy, it suprised me that so many people voted this is best for spring and summer because to me it's more suitable for colder weather.

This is a really pleasant, salty, airy vanilla. It’s warm and inviting, and the touch of jasmine is really nice. I’m picky about vanillas but this one hits the spot - Perfect for summer days. The only downside is that I wish it performed a bit better.

This is such a unique and beautiful fragrance! It's definitely sweet with the vanilla, but it's balanced perfectly by the salty and aquatic notes. I get a lot of compliments when I wear this. My new signature scent!

I like the concept, but it feels very synthetic for its price point. It smells to me like a mango lassi. I'd love to find something similar but with more depth and more natural smelling ingredients.

Herbal vanilla. I am glad that it’s not milky, creamy, or coconut-y.

C'est un parfum plutôt masculin à mon nez. La vanille est présente mais elle est clairement éclipsée par des notes que je m’attend plutôt à retrouver dans les parfums pour homme; surement le cèdre et le coté aquatique qui est interprété de manière "intense" (fonds marin, l’océan une nuit de tempête...). Je m’attendais a quelque chose de vraiment différent. Une vanille gourmande mais légère accompagnée d'une note fleur de sel, rappelant l'odeur de la brise un jour de soleil sur la cote. Ce n'est pas un parfum qui me fait penser a l'été, personnellement. Malgré tout ça, beaucoup de gens l’apprécient et pour de bonnes raisons. En le sentant, je m'imagine une peau transpirante et bien dorée sur la plage, mélangée a un fond de crème hydratante a la vanille. Pour ma part, il manque cette délicatesse que j'espérais, mais il pourrait tout à fait plaire à ceux qui apprécient les parfums aux accents plus unisexe!

Maison Tahite Sel Vanille is an aquatic vanilla with jasmine, cedar, and sage, and it delivers this note blend coherently. It’s fairly easygoing while not being too moving, and it strikes me as something that someone looking for an aquatic vanilla would like, though I generally find it a difficult category to enjoy. I still think it largely achieves an agreeable result though, even without a specific sea salt vibe to counter the vanilla, something that aquatic vanillas often seem to employ. Not by any means one of my preferred options from the line, but one of the softer, more easygoing options and an aquatic, at that. Sel Vanille, like most of the house, is priced at $120 at 100ml at EDP concentration, which is very good value, and this seems to be perform well. 6 out of 10

Sel Vanille creates a double-layered scent on my skin. When I put my nose directly on my skin, I get a beautiful vanilla-sea salt fragrance. It’s very soft, refreshing and perfect for summer. Yet when I move my wrists away from my nose, it seems that these notes can’t reach my nose anymore and instead I’m overwhelmed by a thick cloud of flowery sweetness. I presume that’s the jasmine which is listed in the notes. Definitely not a unisex perfume, the jasmine cloud makes it very feminine. It lasts for about 4 hours on my skin.

i was hoping the sage wouldn’t last as long as it does, but alas! it’s too peppery in the beginning then dries almost minty? on me i really love the idea of an aquatic/woodsy vanilla (was really on the hunt to find a perfume that smells like native’s jasmine + cedar deodorant- if you know of something please PM me) but this just didn’t hit the mark for me. A rather boring fragrance that I do not really like. It doesn't stay on my skin long, and it also smells kind of old and dull. For someone who loves vanilla, this fragrance disappointed me. But it's important to say that aquatic scents don't blend well with my skin, so that was probably why I didn't like this scent.

Tried this yesterday on my arm, and the opening was really really wonderful, salted vanilla, like an ice cream at the beach. Unfortunately, the sea breeze disappears quicly and the vanilla becomes some kind of sweet almond (heliotrope?) which is good but i wanted the salted vanilla thing. Anyways, this is really cheap (92€ retail price for 100ml) and leans a bit more feminine although anyone can wear it. It’s like a mix of couleur vanille with.... tardes or heliotrope, maybe. If u like sweet almondy perfumes, u will love this.

Fresh soapy opening (almost laundry-like), followed by aquatic and salted vanilla notes. This is an aquatic beach scent + vanilla. If JM Wood Sage & Sea Salt is weekend away at the lake house, this is the tropical vacation at the resort.

I recently received a package of samples from Ministry of Scent, and sel vanille was one of them. This scent is so fascinating to me. It smells pretty standard from the bottle, but when it meets the skin, it transforms. I was a bit overwhelmed with the strong salt notes I was getting when I first sprayed it on, but as it absorbed into my skin, it melted into something warm, comforting, and vaguely aquatic, like standing on a rocky, cold-bitten shore while wearing a cozy sweater. I don’t think I would buy a full bottle of this just because it’s not the type of scent I consistently reach for / the longevity isn’t the best for the price, but I very much enjoyed it and would recommend.

Tried Sel_Vanille, Vanilla2, and Vanexstasy at the same time. Sel Vanille is very vanilla forward, whatever aromatic note here is definitely playing second fiddle. In the dry down there is also salt-water/beach breeze element. To me these notes really made the vanilla more potent. Like I didnt become nose blind to the scent because the accompaniament to the vanilla was changing as I wore it. Really, really liked this one. Not nearly as potent or refined as Guerlain's Angelique Noire but they have enough in common to be considered against each other (especially with the cost of Angelique Noire)

A disappointment. It smells better as it gets to the base notes (after about 3 hours), but the top and heart notes were incoherent and muddled. On the plus side, I am very sensitive to, and can't stand, calone in fragrances, but the sea breeze accord in Sel_Vanille is pleasant and evocative and has no fishiness to my nose. A little synthetic, and pretty feminine. I usually like feminine-leaning unisex, but this is sort of "designer fragrance" feminine. A fun concept, but it's not for me. 2.5/5

I loved this in the bottle/on paper right away, but wearing the sample today it’s super duper sweet. I got the marine notes for a second upon spraying and no sage at all. A little while later it smelled like Vacation without the banana, plasticky and synthetic in a fun way. And now, hours later, it reminds me of a higher-end version of teen girl cotton candy body spray. Confusing!

I keep telling myself vanillas are too basic, but I end up wearing them because what's going to comfort You more than that? This starts of with sage, giving aftershave vibes, but fortunately that only lasts a few minutes. What you're left with is this salty full bodied, spicy Vanilla that lasts for hours, utter delicious. Solid release and fair price point from Maison Tahite.

I tried a 1ml sample of this, then bought a 5 ml sample. I really think this might be full bottle worthy. It's a really salty vanilla fragrance with aquatic notes and some woods. It's extremely strong--you definitely don't want to overspray. It starts off somewhat masculine, but fades into the perfect vanilla. I can't stop smelling my wrists throughout the day.

Vanilla, jasmine and some wood. I don't get sea notes or sage, which I was looking forward too. Still, it's a nice warm vanilla and jasmine scent with just enough wood to keep it from sinking into Little Girl territory. Reminds me a bit of Billie Eilish #1 in the way it's a vanilla floral without truly defined flower notes. It's okay. Not gonna do handsprings.

This would have to be my favourite of the line-up by these guys. It reminds me a little of Wood Sage and Sea Salt with a bit of vanilla, maybe the Malone crossed with Waffle Cones by Imaginary Authors. Quite an unusual take on vanilla, with the salt. I feel however it does make me feel like I smell like sweat, and my husband finds it rather sweet.

First impressions, 1 hour after application: it smells very floral-heavy with only a mild salty touch. It reminds me a lot of Rio Radiance from Sol de Janeiro which I'm not sure I like that much, I was expecting something more vanilla-forward and unique. However, it isn't unpleasant or anything, it's just that I wasn't expecting this resemblance.

This is a nice, vanilla woodsy scent. The "sea notes"-whatever they are, are wonderful here and there's nothing sharp about this scent. I don't get any floral-just vanilla and woods. I'm enjoying my sample but wouldn't buy a full bottle, but that's mostly because I already have several vanillas I wear a lot.

Caustic salt. Toilet freshener vanilla. Chlorine. Like many Maison Tahite I think this is a bad fragrance and yet I happily wear it, it's weird and freaky. I love the salt note and this is POTENT. If you're on the hunt for more, more, more salt you must try it!

This perfume is tanning by the ocean. Long wet hair cools your back as your skin is warm from the sun. A mermaid perched on a rock. Creamy, light and an everyday summer wear. I think it is my favorite perfume ever.

I really liked all of the fragrances from this line with the exception of this one. Something is turning me off..I’m thinking it’s the salt note. Dried down to a similarity to BR 540 which completely turns me off.

This one smells just like squid from zoologist, but this one seems to last a bit longer. Not my cup of tea, but a satisfying fragrance if you're a fan of marine, briny-like fragrances.
