Got this on sale at Luckscent last year and received yesterday. First off you get some powdery florals, sweetness, and almonds, then you have a very dominating note of star anise come in. This is not the sweet, black licorice-like herb but a very strong, woody, slightly camphorous, somewhat savory aroma. Chinese people use star anise to flavor beef brisket for stews! Bwahaha! Anyway the sweetness and almonds are always in the background offsetting the star anise but it does gets very strong quickly before mellowing out into a bittersweet skin scent. I actually like it, because it has an expected character and I don't have anything that smells like it. However, this is definitely, not a safe blind buy.

This is an odd one: starts of with really strong marzipan, right in your face, fresh from the candy shop but somehow...sour?! This sour note is puzzling. Soon after, suede makes a shy appearance, vanilla is certainly there, not too sweet. I don't feel any frangipani. Soft and delicate drydown. Overall I'm intrigued and will come back to update. I just can't make up my mind yet due to this sour note in the beginning.. UPDATE: Well, I caved in and got a full bottle! I really couldn't resist this magical marzipan, so comforting and sweet, without being overly sugary - sweet. Very unique and beautiful. Compliment getter too!

Dreamy-sweet perfume deliciuos! very nice,delicate and peaceful. This might be suitable for all seasons, it is a unique scent that gives me tranquility and peace. Unisex, the sillage is moderate to good longevity (7-8h) on me. Very good! Sillage: 7./10 Longevity: 8./10 Scent: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.5/10

A beautyful scent where a little goes a long way, definitely not more than one tiny spriz or it's overpowering (and my skin usually eats scent). This being inspired by Moorish Spain, it does indeed remind me of the scents of Southern Spain and Morocco - almond, suede and a subtle spicyness.

Not sure if I'm a big fan of this or not.. Sorry to start like this. But to me this is a very two-faced(?) smell. On the one hand it is creamy floral with an almond twist on a smooth suede base, almost edible.. a trustworthy smell reminiscent of childhood memories and warmth. On the other hand, it has a bitter synthetic note, like an expired baby cream. I didn't even notice this bitter note until hubby said it smelled like Sudocrem (for those who are familiar with it). I normally stay away from almonds, but like this scent, and the bottle is very pretty. I would probably wear it if I had a bottle, and would probably either get used to the synthetic note and not feel it or it would drive me crazy and ruin the scent. Interesting perfume, definitely a like.

Majda Bekkali has realized at least two masterpieces (Fusion Sacrée Obscur & Clair). Unfortunately Tulaytulah is not up to its predecessors. A pleasing, light, unpretentious scent. Almond as a primary ingredient and a delicious sweet thing. Anything else

The opening is very beautiful... a vanilla- almond powdery plastic reminiscent of a doll’s head. That sort of thing is my jam. The suede comes in strong immediately after, accompanied by a piney & medicinal cypress note. I don’t get any anise surprisingly but the malt is in the background the whole time providing a sort of roasted nutty-cereal flavor. This is neither as wonderful nor as terrible as the reviews had me expecting. If I liked suede more I’d probably love this, but that note isn’t my favorite. Too bad- I was hoping to fall in love in order to justify buying that beautiful bottle! Points for being a unique scent.

I wanted SO BADLY to love this one. The bottle is a masterpiece, I love almond and cherry blossom and had been struggling to find those notes in a not-too-sweet juice that works for me. The reviews I've read are positively glowing. Indeed, the first five seconds after application are perfection. Unfortunately, my skin does something hideous to this once the alcohol evaporates. I do have an unfortunate tendency to get Play-Doh or plasticky effects from otherwise lovely scents (Hanae Mori, What We Do in Paris is Secret). Tulaytulah confirms for me that this must be a byproduct of whatever is used to create almond scent, because that effect is turned up high with with this one. . . almost literally. I smell like burning plastic! Just an awful, noxious, chemical odor. I resisted the urge to scrub because, again, I really wanted this to work. At about hour 3, the suede background comes out, but still I smell like a chemical factory. Sigh. Hopefully there are other ingredients that can create the cyanide accord I'm looking for. TL;DR if you've read the notes and like them, this is probably exactly what you're looking for, UNLESS your chemistry does the Play-Doh thing.

Appaling, horrid stench meets me every time I try this, all the year round. The piramid looked so enticing that I bought a full bottle blind, but the juice inside is absolutely gruesome, how is this even possible? To me it smells undescribably bad, something along the lines of smoked fish in a fishing village. I can not get past even one hour of wearing it on my wrist or on clothes and it must have great longevity, because it does not come off easily. I envy people who think that it is beautifull and can enjoy it, at the same time -knowing that some people will absolutely hate it and gag- I would have been mortified to wear it myself even if I loved it. The bottle is beautifull, although the cap feels a bit placticky. Don't be deceived though, it is what inside that matters.

First and foremost, I want to say this fragrance lasts forever! Beyond 12 hours. Unfortunately this sent made my stomach turn, so unfortunately again, I wanted the fragrance to fade faster than it was . the irony , lol. This one just did not sit well with my body chemistry . it smells almost exactly like a Shirley Temple . the Cherry mixed with the almond was a bit too holiday Christmas cookie for me . perhaps this would smell good on someone else but for me it was a bit sticking . I may be interested in trying others from this brand because the quality is VERY good . this specific scent though is a pass for me . I appreciate the sample.

The cypress is really, really intense in the opening, giving it a smell somewhere between standard men's cologne/aftershave and "fresh scent" bathroom cleaner. I don't care what the drydown is; I never want to smell this opening ever again.

That almond is deadly performance.. I almost scrubbed my skin off because it was so overpowering and it made me nauseous..

This perfume was listed by Fragrantica as one of the best of the moment. So, I decided to put my nose to it. Doctor, I am married to a Spanish woman. Since 2022, my life has been divided between Portugal, Spain, Croatia and my beloved Italy. I also visit Eastern Europe — I am a Milanese man, my soul is Milanese. I have visited Toledo more than five times. If I say that this perfume smells like Toledo, you can believe it. It is a Franco-Arabic interpretation of a beautiful corner of Spain. Everything here is beautiful. Tulay-Tulah is the name for Toledo in Arabic and Hebrew. Located on a rocky outcrop on the banks of the Tagus River, Toledo is known as the city of three cultures. Famous for its religious tolerance, it was home to Jews, Christians and Muslims living together in peace and harmony during Al-Andalus. When I visit Spain, I sometimes wonder if I am in the East or in Europe. The perfume opens with the scent of the city’s alleys: damp, slightly dusty and welcoming. The suede brings out the aroma of the shoe shops on the hilltop, next to the Iglesia de San Ildefonso. A sublime almond emerges from the steps at the top of the calle — from up there, you can see the Tagus River. El Parador, or the hermitages, exude the flavor of anise: clear, spicy and deep, warm like Spanish blood. The cherry blossom blends with the beautiful almond. Everything here is very different and unique. I’ve never seen or smelled anything like it, except in the city itself. If you like almonds, go for it. But this goes far beyond almonds. Majda Bekkali was born into a traditional noble family in Fez, Morocco. Her creations are true works of art. Like this beautiful perfume. 9/10

I blind bought this for the lovely bottle and the gorgeous note matrix and it's so much more interesting than I'd even imagined it would be. It opens with something that can only be described as "plastic baby doll accord"---this is not entirely unpleasant but it's odd to say the least. I don't mind it, I have liked other fragrances with that accord (Luctor et Emergo is one)--it's nostalgic. (If you are unfamiliar with how this might smell--think powdery almond/vanilla with a hint of petrol). The drydown is warm suede, spicy anise, and creamy tonka with a hint of green cypress that on a warm day could lean more towards a pee note (thankfully, not today). It's a very well blended and interesting fragrance with a gorgeous bottle and I'm very excited to try more from this house.

A former co worker used to wear a scent similar to this back in the day. Yep, good ole Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom. Keep in mind that this was around 10 years ago but she wore it everyday. This might be a bit more complex as it does have a nutty Tonka driven dry down. Frangipani adds to the playful side of the scent as well. FWIW, it's a delicate mainstream warm weather scent that smells wonderful,performs average but in my mind is overpriced and in no way unisex.

I used to have a sample of this because I love almond in perfumes. Had to get rid of it, if memory serves me right the sugary sweetness and leather note were overwhelming and unbearable for me, its very strong. It felt a little discombobulated as well, like its pulling you in different directions. The smell was texturally weirdly gritty and fuzzy, as opposed to smooth which I was also not a fan of.

This fragrance is not launched yet, it will be released end of this month or end of May 2016. It was first shown in Esxence 2016 and it has that amazing milky almonds essence. The story behind this is Tulaytula which is a historical city that was famous of the co-exist the 3 cultures-religions Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. I can't wait to get my hands on this masterpiece.

What a strange and discordant fragrance which is somewhat nauseating. Perhaps if they had kept the gourmand notes and omitted the cypress, frangipani and suede there might have been some cohesiveness to the almost candy like vibe of anise, almond and vanilla!

I am starting to think Tonka bean smells to me like shoe polish or leather shoes... I just smell the shoe cupboard at home when I smell this perfume! With a hint of almond.

I really wanted to like this scent, and the top notes smelled very promising, but... Suede and anise take over everything else, from the first spritz to the dry down.

Hmmm unsure. It's smelling like baby powder on me.
