Bagheera

not as scary as it sounds (and I wouldn't suggest I was better placed to describe this than Q80, whose reviews I have long turned to).. I'm happy to wear it on a sunny spring day, though with a few more sprays it could easily be an evening fragrance too. The top is violet, a nice cool iris and suede, the other animalics are there (with the cassis) but they are closer to the skin and not attacking passers-by. Very easy for any gender to wear and something about it does keep making me sniff my arm. You can tell its from the same brand as psychotrope..but they are not the same....and I ended up buying both! nearly a year later... revisiting this and 2 unsolicited compliments, one from someone a couple of metres away...and I'm very much not an oversprayer...lasts all day and evening too (rare on my skin).

Starts with nice smoky leather that sweetened with some dried berries , but also has lots of earthy (and slightly boozy) vetiver next to it. I feel decent amount of orris roots in here, but they are not powdery, they’re quite waxy, dark and dry. After a while you can detect more violet in it and it becomes a bit softer. Tried this at a niche boutique perfumery. When I skin tested it, it was radiating of my skin and I couldn't help but continue to get a deep whiff of it. It isn't a scent for everyone as some of my friends say there is a indescribable note in there they don't like (I feel it's the truffle) but for me it's a indulgence scent that can be worn at day or night.

A soft cloud of pale violet unfurls; powdery, cold, and smoky. Within seconds, it reveals itself as a violet–leather pairing, a familiar combination I’ve often encountered. Violet lingers throughout the fragrance’s life, constantly shifting its shape: at times borrowing the powdery elegance of iris, at others turning tart, and sometimes candied, shimmering with an iridescent gleam. What makes this composition stand apart are its unexpected twists. At first, I perceived it as edible, grainy, almost chocolate-y. Later, I realized it is the effect of the (imaginary) truffle note for this impression. There is also a striking facet of burnt paper: as though you had set the corner aflame, only to snuff it out, leaving behind a dry, charred, woody trace; both austere and dominant. A lovely surprise! This reminds me heavily of fabuloso fabric softener. To my nose it's very floral and powdery, iris and violet and lavender forefront. Fresh, clean, and vibrant purple. Cushioned by whiffs of suede and amber. This is spring rain and cool cotton sheets, strong and sweet yet remains soft and unobtrusive. I put some lavender oil on top of it to keep it grounded and found that quite pleasant. Its youthful and leans on the feminine yet could be worn by all kinds of folk. Such a pleasant and comforting scent perfect for a sunny morning at the farmers market.

I keep surprising myself by finding three notes I`m notoriously having so much difficulty - iris, violet, leather - to really like this composition. All three notes I dislike crating this suggestive, intriguing composition. This is totally out of my comfort zone and yet so satisfying.

This has to be a similar situation to the one with cilantro (soap vs no soap genes) - I smell nothing animalic in this, start to finish. It's violet, iris and leather that start with something mildly herbal and bitter and end very cozy and sweet. Truly unisex and totally inoffensive.

This is a perfume that gave me strong wood varnish vibes. It softens a bit and I can discern iris, fruity notes and leather. It's different than anything I have with me but not sure I enjoy it.

Lush, purple, tropical nighttime. Perfectly unisex. My first spray of bagheera skewed strong & animalic but it was a comparative analysis tainted by various other scents I was sniffing. My closest reference point being Himitsu violets by Regime des Fleurs. They share the combination of leather & violet. Himitsu is softer & more lilac tinted. Bagheera has an added denseness & tropicality. While actually wearing Bagheera I was able to experience the fragrance in its totality. A beautiful earthy fruit-floral opening with a body of soft violet anchored in leathery depth. Beautifully unisex with the bonus of good story telling. The olfactive fantasy of a lush tropical forest, you’re pensive, crushing wild violets & berries between your toes as you befriend a kindly & noble panther. I would be so in. I am admittedly a cat person. As I took a walk this morning I kept catching whiffs of a soft musky sweetness. I kept displacing the scent to women who were close to me. I’d Even considered complimenting someone until I realized the pleasant musky sweetness was me + Bagheera. I was genuinely pleased. Close to my wrist hours later I can still smell the deep dark violets & vetiver. The sillage carries the lighter, fruitier notes. This isn’t for someone who wants pure violets. It’s a moody unisex violet which in comparison to Himitsu edges slightly towards darker, deeper nuances. Scent profiles I naturally gravitate towards. I own Himitsu & it’s a collection favorite. I am excited to own Bagheera in addition too for when I’m craving something denser & moodier but still gorgeous & wearable (for a friend of panthers). “Be not afraid”

I like the green papyrus+cedar side of Bagheera. The rest of the composition reminds me of Iris Prima by Penhaligon, or MM L’Attesa with suede. The blackberry is not juicy, but like in Musc et Mure. Together with the cassis, they add beautiful purple hue to the whole composition and the violet+oak moss creates velvety sweetness that reminds me the powdery sweetness in Bottega Veneta. It connects with the earthy-woodsy nuances (iris+truffle). Under the moss there’s some soft leather like in BDK Crème de Cuir. Well blended and soft perfume. I like it.

An animalic bomb. This is an animalic bomb with harsh suede, wool, and raw truffles. This has urine note somehow that made it bit harsh and sensual! it's sweaty and superbly amusing, harsh and rough with bits of hintly sweet note and i believe it is made by the cassis, and blackberry mix. This one is amazingly addictive with it's sexual intense factor. Brilliant.
