Malizia Uomo Vetyver

Contrary to the notes (er, note) listing above, this contains more than just vetiver. From various sources, the top is coriander, bergamot, lemon, mandarin orange and neroli; the heart is vetiver and cedarwood; the base is vetiver. The ingredients include limonene (citrus), linalool (lavender), benzyl benzoate (sweet balsamic wood), eugenol (nutmeg/clove), citral (lemon) and geraniol (geranium). So this is actually more complex than the vetiver-only description would suggest. This opens with a bright lemon/lemon verbena accord, boosted and "complexified" by coriander's lemony-green essence. By 20 minutes, the citrus top is joined by an earthy vetiver, a punch of nutmeg, lavender, a green geranium and some faint woods. To the reviewer who disliked this because he expected a grassy vetiver, this isn't that type. To those who say this is linear, I respectfully disagree. At one hour, this is still wafting off my chest and shirt pretty strongly, though projection is probably arm's length. This isn't a loud fragrance, but it lasts. The vetiver leads the heart that is now developing a smoky aspect. I hate cigarettes, so any comparison to an ashtray is a hipshot. This is more the scent of a campfire in a light breeze 1/4 mile downwind. There is a foresty/earthy aspect to this, green, probably created by the vetiver, geranium and woods, and boosted by the eugenol, all of which support the main accord. At 5 hours, this is still wafting up regularly. The smoky aspect has remained at the same level while the rest of the notes have backed off a bit. I don't like smoky fragrances, but this is a "clean" smoke, and its interplay with the vetiver and flits of cedar, nutmeg and amazingly tenacious citruses and geranium is excellent. This is significantly better than Lagerfeld's Bois de Vetiver, and settles somewhere between Encre Noir Sport and Guerlain's masterpiece Vetiver, with a bit more woodsmoke. It's a keeper for me. One final note: Several reviews here and elsewhere refer to "synthetic citrus". This is a misleading statement. Every perfumer from PDM, Chanel, Tom Ford, Creed etc use limonene, citral, citronellol and other synthetic aromachemicals. They do this because the aromas last longer, the elements don't decay over time, the scents are more consistent than natural materials, and, yes, because they are usually less expensive than naturals. This has these same aromachemicals, but it still smells very "natural". Great bang for the buck, or even purely on its own merits.

Perfect elegance, perfect versatility, all-season and a perfectly straightforward masculine scent that Vetiver lovers could never live without. This fragrance, is the one true fragrance that ignited my explosive love for Vetiver. And it is my very first vetiver fragrance. For far too many times, I caught myself smelling the sprayer of my first bottle just to get a therapeutic whiff of it. Since Vetiver essential oil is known to be the "oil of tranquility", don't be surprised if you feel more calm, collected, inwardly assured after smelling this fragrance. The One-Note-Fragrance introduces you to a fresh, soothing blast of (Haitian) Vetiver, with a slight hint of a subtle uplifting lemon-citrus impression. For this, I heavily suspect that a small amount of Bergamot essential oil is used in Malizia Uomo Vetyver. I find that using this fragrance after a cold shower with a organic Vetiver soap is just a full blown refreshing rejuvenating experience. There are many many times in which this simple perfected fragrance had influenced me to reasonably think that it could be mixed together with more complicated perfumes like Bogart pour homme, Cigar by Remy Latour or El Paso by Lomani to introduce a more masculine Vetiver note in these fragrances. (and those 3 perfumes mentioned above do not have Vetiver notes) That is how perfectly versatile Malizia Uomo Vetyver is. Malizia Uomo Vetyver could be used for perfume layering that enhances other fragrances with Vetiver masculinity without compromising the notes of other fragrances. Costing at a range of $US 2 to $US 7, (from various internet sales websites) it is almost impossible not to buy this fragrance (because it is at least economically affordable) and give it a chance (at least once). Spray on clothes for the best longevity, preferably on your collar where you can smell it.

Picked this up in order to get over the threshold to get free shipping on an order. Didn't have high expectations. However, I was taken aback at just how pleasant this is. The name and single listed note does, to a large extent, foreshadow what you're getting - vetiver. However, I'd say it's not just pure vetiver, it's not the same as just vetiver fragrance oil. It's a very clean, fresh, maybe even a little smoky vetiver. Not in an offensive way, though. A reviewer bellow compared the smokiness to cigarette ash - I'd say I disagree. I deplore the smell of cigarettes and personally (and thankfully) don't pick up anything of the sort. I find it extremely pleasant and easy to wear. I find myself spraying it on just to smell it even at home, which I rarely do with fragrances. It's fresh, clean and very green. Somewhat reminiscent of a rainforest after it has rained. Perhaps where you've been camping. You shouldn't have been camping there, but you're a bad boy, aren't you? Uomo Vetyver is perfect for daytime use during spring, summer and fall, very inoffensive and office-safe. It's also quite versatile in terms of style. I saw one comment calling it "more fit for older guys", another - "high school fragrance". I think it's neither. I find it to be perfectly age agnostic. The formulation is perhaps reminiscent of the 90s/00s, but the scent character is timeless. You can easily use this for most occasions (perhaps bar clubbing, as it isn't strong enough for that). For the price point they're selling this at - it's an absolute steal. Good fragrances in this price bracket are few and far between. This is one of them. Pick it up if you ever get the chance. Blind buy safe due to the extremely low price.

Love it. They also have a Vetyver Eau de Toilette Deodorant which I used years before I bought this EdT. It's very linear scent, in a good way. If you wear it, you may think it would'nt last long or doesn't project that much but I've learned it's not true. I had a funny moment with the Vetyver EdT Deodorant. I was in the mall on a sweaty summer day and had applied it like 5-6 hours earlier. I couldn't smell it on myself anymore and I was full of sweat. I actually felt miserable and thought I would stink! Anyway I walked past a italian dude in the mall and he actually stopped me and asked: Man is that Malizia Uomo? He knew the scent back from italy and gave me a high five. I allways remember this when I wear Vetyver. The only compliment on a fragrance I received from a total stranger was for the cheapest fragrance I own. Over 5h in the heat and the projection was strong enough for him to notice and identify this iconic scent. Value is amazing! I bought 2 bottles for 6 bucks each. It does also work in the winter but I would probably choose something else, especially on really cold days.

For the price of this, it’s an absolute no-brainer. It’s not high-end, it’s not as refined as Guerlain, but I find I use this much more than that one, since it feels fresher or more youthful, perhaps. It’s less dry and heavy, in fact, super clean and fresh—very much top notes. Somehow, it makes me think of the Italian Chinotto drink. It has a refreshing fizz to it—there must be citrus in here? Either way, it doesn’t last long, so it probably works well after a freshen-up shower post-beach or to take the edge off your gym sweat before you get a chance to feel more clean. But definitely not in a situation where you need longevity. I probably use the flanking products more, though—like the aftershave, which is so nice, especially if, like me, you shave both your face and head at the same time. I had the shower gel at one point, too, and that’s also very nice and totally clean.

Edit 2026 It has been nearly 15 years since I wrote this review and this fragrance had become much more common. It can be bought for $15 or less. I still wear this often and the deodorant is outstanding. This is a really great fragrance. It has only just become available where I live and is not that cheap ($25 Aus for 50mL EDT). It is, however, good value for that price. What impresses me is the crispness of this vetiver: it is very transparent. I have experience with vetiver essential oil and the sample I have is very smoky and smells a bit like canned peas (at least to me). The vetiver in Malizia is of a different sort and, even though it is not mentioned, I am pretty sure it is complemented by lemon. I give this fragrance 7.5/10

In North Africa where I grew up, brand perfumes cost a fortune compared to the purchasing power. I remember from my childhood during the 80s and early 90s, teenagers and young adults used to perfume themselves with Malizia Uomo Vétiver, and it smelled really good, lasted long, and had a good sillage . It wasn't the eau de toilette, but the deodorant because it was cheaper. I can assure you that just the deodorant lasted better than many current eau de toilettes or eau de parfum. I currently have the eau de toilette, and I find that it smells less good than the old deodorant, but maybe it's just nostalgia. However, I'm sure the performance of the deodorant was better than the current eau de toilette

its a beginers scent Barbershop style a manly fresh scent that ouzes confidence I like nutmeg, I used to call it vetiver, as it's written, haha. Because of this misconception, I collected various vetiver perfumes for years, searching for something similar to Malizia of better quality, NO..not even close,big diference ,I always lost. its a beginers scent so they dont recognize notes thinking vetiver cause its written while its really nutmeg. Smell the nutmeg beans , but don't taste it, you'll know its in Malizia. I did. If you love Malizia, your next step is Dunhill Edition ,its intense version of Malizia, Hurry before it's discontinued

A superior drugstore scent that smells and performs better than many fragrances in its genre that cost 3 or 4 times its price. For example, I much prefer this to the overrated Guerlain Vetiver...yes you read that correctly. Despite the paltry ingredient(s) listed on this site (just vetiver), I'm sure there's much more substance to this fragrance, including lemon and a generous dose of black pepper that make it smell clean & crisp and somewhat sophisticated. SUMMARY: Definitely in the cheap and cheerful category, and with its remarkably low price, it simply screams to be included in anyone's collection.

I have been a loyal Malizia Uomo fan for years, and this is one of my favorite Vetiver fragrances. At any price. The scent is a light and airy Vetiver and is so easy to like, and even easier to wear. I see comments here that the fragrance is not long lasting. At least for me, it lasts a solid 6 hours on my skin, and even longer on my shirt. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It’s a very easy blind buy, and I suspect the vast majority of fragrance enthusiasts would be thrilled once they get their nose on Malizia Uomo, especially considering the value and price.

Some people have a clear aversion towards the cheap fragrances. I would rather say that being robbed by some brands makes me feel even worse. With Malizia Uomo Vetyver you are getting what you are paying for a relatively good quality, no fairy dust, just a simple vetiver without any second guesses. I like this type of fragrances and have quite few of them, very often they get more attention than a very expensive brands. I personally would recommend it to anyone who likes the vetiver fragrances.

Just buy it! Picked this up for $15 and I love it. Nice simple vetiver, yet so elegant. Earthy but bright, fresh with a surprisingly nuanced spiciness. The longevity is better than would be expected for the price point, I usually get 5-6 hours on a hot summer day. Vetyver is an easy reach for me, often over Encre Noir, when I want something fresh and straight-forward. Considering just how cheap this is it's hard not to reccomend it to anyone with even a passing interest in vetiver scents.

Ehehe ... what a time ... I was in the army in 2001 when one of my comrades-in-arms was making a fuss in the barracks when he took the Malizia spray out of the padlocked suitcase. Since then I know it, I have used it and I admit that I love it even now. As simple as it is in its composition it smells so beautiful. Its bad luck is that it was too cheap in price and became very popular ... otherwise it may have another fate.

If you like your vetiver dry and smoky then this is a must buy for you. It may be vetiver on a budget, but in terms of longevity and silage it can put a lot of scents four or five times its price to shame. Don't let the price or the rather cheap looking bottle put you off either, as what you do get is a quality scent which can stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the better known vetivers from the big fragrance houses.

My bottle of Malizia Uomo Vetyver Profumo D'Intesa EDT 50 ml does have brief longevity. But while it lasts it is quite superb. I prefer it to my reformulated and much more expensive Guerlain Vetiver EDT, which also has low longevity. For the cost of a mere AU$15.00 for a 50 ml bottle of evanescent bliss, Malizia Uomo Vetyver EDT warrants a genuine 10/10.

oh yeeeees! this is a hidden vetiver-gem alright! at first spray I got a slight dentist-resembling (!) but as the perfumes settled, it continued to pour out nice whifs of v-magic(TM) as the hours went by. much more pronounced than Guerlain's Vetiver even! highly recommended for any vetiver-lover!

This cheapie is the best linear vetiver to layer with soft, floral or citrusy frags with longevity issues you wish lasted longer. (My fav combination to date is this frag with D&G K edt. Incredible.)

Bought and started to wear it last spring. Feels genderless to me. Strangely from time to time i get traces of cabotine edt. Perfect for hot days if you don't like candyfloss and love green scents.

I finally got Dunhill Edition and I'm satisfied with the density. Nutmeg note is malizia's secret. I didn't know until had nutmeg beans and Dunhill Edition. It's a Barbershop edt
