Very impressive sea mineral notes that I have waited over 30 years for. Not exaggerating, throughout the 2000s, companies have been pushing "sea notes" and "water notes" that smell like a screechy chemical mess of freshness. This actually smells of the ocean salts on your body after a dip, sun drying out, and putting clean clothes back on. If you're baffled by the notes, you could call it Lemon and Salt, drying into almost pure mineral. There is some kind of waxy feeling that reminds you of older soap brands like the one this perfume is meant to replicate. I don't recognize it exactly, but it reminds me of the soaps my grandmother would give our parents growing up, as she hoarded such things and randomly gave them to us in big Ziploc bags. All kinds of cheap hotel soaps, rubbing off on another, sniffing the bag with a big inhale, you get citrus, florals, and even some evergreen barbershop-type vibes mixed into an overall muted, airy cleanliness. Kind of cool to have a South African cologne in my collection now!

I love Neo-Animism! It's such a cleeeean (unsurprising, I know - considering it's inspired by soap!), superbly blended smooth, fresh scent that manages NOT to smell like cleaning products or another banal "clean fragrance." This one is really interesting and refreshing to wear - it has decent yet moderate sillage with impressive longevity (two major pluses in my book). I've never smelled African Green Soap but am enchanted by the very specific inspiration behind this fragrance. Neo-Animism smells like the lesser celebrated beach vacation type scent: it's not about coconutty sunscreen or fruity cocktails but instead about the smell of the surf, sun warmed-sand, and this beautiful soap you use after a day in the hot sun. Very cool, original and unlike any other 'clean' or 'beachy' fragrance I've tried. Happy to have this in my collection - and that amazing green bottle is divine!!!

It smells like soap and the sea. I thought I hated soapy fragrances but here we have a fragrance that's explicitly meant to smell like soap and I love it! It's just so bright and refreshing and makes me happy. I've never smelled Sunlight, the South African green soap this is based on, but I'm very tempted now to find a bar to compare. The sea salt/mineralic quality really makes this fragrance so evocative. I feel like I'm waxing my surfboard with the sea breeze blowing in my hair. It's great for hot weather, but I'm wearing it now in the winter to give me that summer feeling.

It’s salty, mineral rich, fresh, SUPER clean with a natural smelling soap facet. Very smooth and beautifully blended, I absolutely adore this fragrance, and can’t recommend it enough. It’s easily jumped to the top end of my favorite Freshie list. Nothing else I’ve smelled smells like this it’s a must try for Aquatic lovers. Completely unisex.

Just got it in the mail yesterday. I really like the scent - to me (F) it is a bit more masculine leaning - I originally bought it for myself, as I love clean soapy smells. It was not a perfect match for me, but my husband really loved and and claimed the whole bottle (I also like how is it smelling a bit more on him). It is a perfect summer scent and has a surf-boy playfulness in it, while smelling clean and a bit citrusy.

So addicting! This is a very briny/salty kinda generic classic beach scent but in the best way possible.Kinda borders on being synthetic and natural but in a really nice way. I love it! Would love to get a full bottle and wear it on only the hottest of days.

It develops into a bit of a grandma soapy smell after a while but the opening to me reads like a common soapy note used in a bunch of men's colognes. Not extremely unique, but not bad. If you are looking for a straight up soap cologne this one will work great.

Opens with a salty aquatic lemon freshness. Dries down to a animalic oceanic vibe that expresses realistic beachy smell that other mainstream perfumes don’t capture. I personally wouldn’t wear this out I can appreciate the creativity behind it.

A masculine soapy aquatic. Possibly a good scent for the right chemistry in warm temps. To my nose this smells overwhelmingly synthetic.

Refreshing in a weird way. I would never buy this but sample was intriguing.

Just received the fragrance today .. Fragrantica is misleading with the main accords which says soapy,and marine . First off comes off lemony almost like Palmolive bar soap then it quickly dies down to a smoky incense smell ..the dry down smells like your standing in front of booth at a festival we’re they only sell African soaps,lotions ,and incense ..no doubt that this is definitely a very unique fragrance but it’s not my cup of tea .I’m into soapy marine fresh smelling scents like cool water wave and polo sport for example .

NOT a safe blind buy if you, like me, are looking for a clean, soapy experience - definitely sample first. This is odd, briney for sure, and not dirty exactly but not something I would describe as "clean" if I smelled it on someone else. If it smells like a specific soap, it's not one I've ever encountered. Cool bottle though.

I don’t hate it, but my nose doesn’t find it groundbreaking on my skin. It’s a soapy and aquatic masculine shower gel mixed with deodorant soap bar in a marine flavor. It’s a cousin to Coast and Zest deodorant soaps. There is also that sweet note I find in many masculine toiletry items. It’s like that sweet spicy smell in Old Spice and an original scented shaving cream. That may just be a quirk of my skin chemistry. On clothes, I get lemon, salt, blue or green bar soap and dish washing liquid maybe. There is absolutely no sweetness on fabric. It just find that it smells familiar. I could see a guy young or old easily wearing this. It doesn’t smell like body spray or cologne. It smells like a guy after taking a shower. I’d wear it, because I mainly get deodorant soap. My mom thinks it smells like water and is gender neutral. I need to test it more.

This smells like the soap you see in the basket near the cash register in one of those oceanfront department stores. Half souvenir, half essential but all the way economical. This is something I would wear just for the sake of wearing a fragrance and it's not even summarily soapy. This has an artificial turquoise smell that has the ability to imprison your emotions. This turns to a skin scent rather quickly but this thingamajig could possibly be good on clothing. Not bad but not "Oh my God" good..shoulder shrug.. nobody's looking, you can drop the soap.

I bought it (two, in fact) for the box, the graphics, the bottle, the presentation. I'm totally pleased with each and all of those elements. Fragrance: If this was a clear light blue liquid in a short clear bottle with a blue and silver label and a name that included the word *Aqua* and it was priced around $10....it would be exactly what I was expecting. That's what this is....in a very cool box in a very cool green cube bottle. Own it for the image and nothing else.

wow! this scent is awesome! i was really intrigued by the meager two notes listed here and bought a sample. this is a lot more complicated than it looks. i would definitely say the lemon and salt description is very accurate, but underneath is a darker smell. its like an darkly overcast, maybe even rainy beach. it reminds me of the oregon coast a little bit. i think you could wear this just about anywhere but i'm really excited to go into work with this.

very strong citrus & aldehydic opening, with a subtle oceanic mineral backbone, bitter herbs, it settles on a citric fuzzy detergent note Overall the profile leans a bit sour & bitter, i think the formulation probably works better as soap or deodorant but as perfume it’s a bit sharp. 2nd wearing very tart citrus opening with soap, metal, & a slight ocean smell

Smells like the soap you buy on a subtropical vacation because you forgot to pack yours. 5/10 This has been another edition of "LittleDinkums Reductive Reviews."
