In fact, it's a high-quality scent that does exactly what it promises. But is it groundbreaking? Not really - and that's totally fine. Sometimes it's just about the way the light hits the sea, that soft hum of happiness when the world feels... perfect. The first spray hits you, and it's alive. Bright, juicy citrus - orange, lemon, tangerine, all bursting at once, like a glass of sunshine tipped over your skin. There's a whisper of ginger and pepper too, a little sparkle under the sweetness, like sunlight catching on gold jewellery. Instantly luxurious, never cheap. And then, slowly, the sea rolls in. At first, I couldn’t really smell anything—which aligns with what some reviewers have said about the scent being faint or fleeting. It starts off nonoffensive and light-bodied. But after a few moments, it opens up into a bright, citrusy note. It’s soft and, admittedly, leans a bit feminine at first with an airy, delicate and solar vibe. As it continues to develop, subtle powdery undertones begin to emerge. Honestly, I like it—it strikes a nice balance between casual and refined, with an understated, almost posh elegance. Doesn’t smell like sunscreen. Nothing like tom ford soliel blanc. However, this is the most overrated hype-train I have ever come across, hands down. I was expecting soliel blanc but got a “playing it safe” perfume. Maybe it’s the most accessible fragrance mancera has ever made? That’s how light and inoffensive it comes across. Thankfully, this does not stray away from my taste so it’s another mancera win for me. For comparison, I own Cedrat Boise Intense, Cinque Terre, and Soleil d’Italie, and this one is easily the lightest of the group. Soleil comes in second, Cinque third, while Cedrat Boise Intense is a full-on smoke bomb I can’t even touch in the Florida summer. This new one, though, feels made for heat and sunlight—effortless and breezy. There’s a twinkle in the composition that I really like.

The house of Mancera have produced some amazing fragrances that redefine how we interpret what a truly niche fragrance is, they've managed to put a modern twist on some classic scent profiles with a boldness the majority wouldnt dare undertake and French Riviera is yet another masterful creation from this esteemed house. While embodying the classic fresh scent profile the twist seems to come with how they've blended the fragrance with both a marine sea salt note and a very creamy sunscreen note into the same profile each prominently standing alone but working together to paint a picture of a sandy beach with golden sands as white capped waves wash up over the shoreline spraying saltiness into the air that mixes with fresh fruits and citruses but transform into floral scents as the wind carries it up over the dunes and into the surrounding landscape covered in grass. As with most fragrances from Mancera the performance is extremely good, longevity is 10-12hrs which is outstanding for a fresh fragrance, projection is good with sillage that definitely going to get you noticed. This is definitely a must have in the rotation for summer especially as it really shines on the hottest days, if you're reading this then you're already considering it just go for it out of all the manceras this is definitely blind buy safe.

When I was in the Hyundai Mall in Korea, I saw this fragrance in a perfume store, and I remembered that it had been on my want list for quite a while. I decided to test it and had it sprayed on me. For the rest of the day, I kept catching glimpses of it faint whiffs here and there, and every single time, it smelled so good. This is one of those lovely fragrances that instantly transports you somewhere the moment you smell it, so the next day.. I bought it. It feels like a beautiful summer day, literally the French Riviera. It’s long lasting and creates a soft scent bubble around you. It doesn’t project too far outward but stays closer to your personal space, which actually makes it feel more intimate. It’s the kind of fragrance that needs to be discovered rather than announced. I’m honestly in love. It’s one of the few fragrances that earned a love rating from me on this site. I do tend to spray a lot!, and €155 is just a bit too much for me, but it’s definitely not overpriced for what you get. This perfume gets a lot of hate on TikTok, and I genuinely don’t understand why. It’s smooth, fresh, and watery, like a perfect day in the summer sun. It definitely has that sunscreen vibe, but in a good way.

I'll give you the only review you'll need (100% honest) This is one of the most uniquest summer scents ever. Yes It's slightly sunscreeny but in the best way possible. I find the opening very bright and amazing Tangerine and Citrus scent which I find very appealing to me. This fragrance is NOT mass appealing and I'd really not recommend it for a blind buy but that doesn't mean that I love this fragrance. After a good 30-45 minutes it dries down to a very ocean-ic type of scent and it becomes salty, may be too salty for some but I personally like it that way, I also love sweet fragrances but I have a taste in both. Now for the vibes of this fragrance; It literally is just vacation in a bottle, first thing came to my mind is If you're lounging on a beach or pool in a sunny setting and you're about to jump in the water. It's just a really beautiful summer fragrance for me that you could never expect it's scent from a blind buy. I made some of my family members smell it, some absolutely loved it and some despised it; and that's the beauty of this fragrance, you either fall in love with it or you want the person wearing it gone.

A very fresh, creamy, slightly sweet, marine fragrance that is perfect for hot weather. This perfume has the classic longevity of a Mancera fragrance and offers excellent value for money. I've used other summer perfumes in the past, but none have satisfied me as much as this one. I start the day with 4-5 sprays, and when I come home in the evening, it still lingers. When I enter my room, the scent fills the space, even if it's just a hint. I am extremely satisfied with this perfume and crown it my favourite summer fragrance. One strange thing is how such a creamy perfume can come from these notes; I don't know. So, if you're going to buy blind based on the notes, I definitely don't recommend it, but at the same time, it's a perfume that suits general tastes very well and will definitely get you compliments. As I said, if you're a perfectionist, definitely smell it before buying, but if you're the type who just wants everyone to like it and doesn't care about anything else, you can buy it with peace of mind. Just got my bottle today. At first sniff, my initial thought was "This is straight up Dior Eden-Roc!" Now that I've sprayed each on separate wrists, there are some obvious differences, which work perfectly for me. The stronger jasmine in Eden-Roc makes it a little more floral than I'd like. Whereas with French Riviera, the floral is more subtle while the citrus and pine notes are more prominent to my nose. Both have the same incredible salty accord that reads "coastal" without wandering into the fishy-seaweed realm. This is my first Mancera fragrance, so I'm curious to see if the longevity reputation holds true on my skin. The added bonus is that Riviera is nearly a third the price of Dior, depending on the size. I still love Eden-Roc. I think François Demachy created a masterpiece for Dior with that fragrance, but for Riviera's price--and hopefully long wear--I think I've found my new go-to scent for spring & summer.

This is a pure summer fragrance. I live in the Mediterranean area (Greece) and i smell the sea along with its pine trees in this fragrance. Everyone who lives across the Mediterranean coast line knows this smell. Some people tend to believe that actually there are no pure summer fragrances, and that's mainly because you tube reviewers say so. The truth is that there are pure summer fragrances like this one or Mancera's soleil d' italie which shine only in the summer. If you put this on in a cold winter day, it has no much to offer. So, if you live in hot countries and especially in the Mediterranean coast line, this one is for you. I give this fragrance a 10/10 for what it is - An elegant edp for the summer that you can wear all day and night and carry the Mediterranean heat wave and/or breeze within your scent bubble.

Well I never thought I'd see the day that a niche fragrance garnered me so many unsolicited compliments. I went to work this morning put three sprays on the back of my neck as I do with all my perfumes. I then headed over to a particular department of the hospital and was immediately complimented by one of the nursing staff. I then came back to my section and was complimented by a fellow wards man and then proceeded to ask what perfume it was. Later that day I had to go for a pathology test and the pathologist wanted to know what it was, and said that it would smell perfect on her husband. I very rarely get compliments on my niche fragrances, but this getting me three in one day definitely says something in regards to French Riviera. Well done Mancera.

Can't believe I took this long to sample this fragrance. It has a melange of notes that I love in other summer fragrances like Mandarin from Fico di Amalfi, Tiare Flower from City of Stars, or Salt from Acqua di Sale. It starts with a creamy, flowery mandarin that leans feminine, and dries down into a salty, ambery vetiver. The downside is that, despite the notes, nothing truly stands out; however, I think that's its best application for this fragrance. This is the perfect summer layering fragrance. Every perceptible note here can complement and extend something you already have. Fruity fragrances can be aided by the salty musk and florals and citruses by the woody amber. On its own, the fragrance is just good, but layered, it turns into a steal.

When I first sprayed this, a 30 year-old mom 6 feet away from me asked me what I sprayed. It smells like an ocean breeze mixed with a fresh lemon drink, flowers, clean musk, and a pleasant sunscreen. This is my go-to fragrance in the summer. Super fresh and uplifting. Every time I spray this, I get that freshness that I smell at the beach, but it still feels clean, like Musk Therapy. Beautiful bottle, and awesome fragrance, especially for the price ($22/ounce -> $88/bottle). This was a year ago. I smelled this now. People think it smells like sunscreen, and now, I can't get that out of my head. This fragrance is really nice if you're new to it, but pretty bad if you're used to other fragrances (i.e. LV, Initio, etc). 9/10 -> 5/10

It is so pleasanttt. I bling bought French Riveira, reading through the notes after I needed a scent with higher quality. Let me say, it was worth it. You get that very pleasant, fresh, aquatic and summery scent, making this a very good option for the summer. My gf loves it, as it radiates strongly, catching many noses as it stays very strong as she recalled later on. Its not that projecting, of course since its a summer scent and yet it still projects enough for people to notice. I get the wiff of it not being on my skin for too long, yet my surroundings tell me otherwise so yeah, it does very good. I got it for 85€, for the 120ml sooo im very happy with it. I would re-buy if it went empty. I love it 8.9/10

I smell lemonade, sunscreen, and sand. Beach vacation in a bottle! The hate is because of "influencers" hyping it up, and because many people, apparently, hate the smell of sunscreen lol (smells alright to me). I personally think it's a great fragrance! Smells like a stronger more complete/complex Bvlgari Aqva marine. Is it ground breaking? No! but nothing is nowadays, tbh. Every new release (niche, designer, indie) smells like something I've smelled before... and that's ok. Perfumers are artists, and artists draw inspiration from those who came before them. Anyway, this is a warm/humid weather banger. Don't listen to haters, or influencers, try it yourself.

Fragrance Journal Entry #184 This fragrance appears to be quite divisive, i understand why but for me i love this stuff. I've never smelled anything like this before and in a hobby full of redundancy this is a breath of fresh air. I get the sunscreen comparison but i think it's a little more complex than that, more like sunscreen applied while sitting near the ocean, you get alot of salty marine qualities to go along with the heavy florals and citrus. This lasts all day and people around me seem to like it but i wear this one moreso for myself, it's a happy place kind of scent. Rating: 8.5/10 Blind Buy Safe? NO

I don’t understand the hate at all. I get it, if you are a mega-macho “girls love this juice” type of guy who only follows trends and oversprays to the point of creating a toxic nuclear cloud of Oud-Caramel-Coffe-Incense and Vanilla, then for sure this is not your thing. But if you appreciate soft, fresh yet refined scents, you should give French Riviera a try. Sea notes, tiare, musk, it’s fantastic. This is not for a person who likes to get attention by being obnoxious and obvious. This is for the person that doesn’t need to impress others in order to get validation. Timeless, elegant, clean and attractive.

Damn, this is different from what I expected, this is pretty much Unisex; would not mind if a lady wore this but I also feel like I could rock it myself. Soft and creamy but strong, really strong sillage off my skin, a sunscreen and luxury soap. Very bright and happy, I understand that to some people it might be a little BO-ish but to me it's all lotion and nivea cream, but in the best way possible, not cheap smelling. I expected something blue and pretty boring but this is very exciting actually. The drydown is pure vacation nostalgia blast.

I was gifted this masterpiece from my amazing girlfriend and oh boy this is the perfect fragrance. I feel like a lot of fragrances can be cloying unlike tropical fragrances imo, but this is just perfect, soft while being masculine. It is super veritable for the summer. And lasts me the entire shift. It is fresh clean and blind by safe but if you’re not a fan of the sunscreen smell then it’s not recommended, but I love this smell. First niche fragrance and imo the safest start for getting into niche.

The rumors are true: this does indeed smell like sunscreen! But for me, in the best possible way. It conjures memories of childhood swimming lessons, and I immediately fell in love with the scent profile. If you don’t want to smell like sunscreen, I get it, but it turns out that I do. Love this stuff. I purchased a decant to try this out and then almost immediately went full send on the full size. I think this is floating somewhere in my top ten currently. I can’t get enough of this.

Long story short: this is the lovechild/amalgamation of Mancera's "Sicily' and 'Holidays'. If you have both of those scents, you don't need this one. French Riviera opens immensely similar to Sicily with bright, scrumptious juicy-sweet citrus, then rapidly dries down to the salty-marine suntan lotion of Holidays (except no coconut and slightly less sweet). It smells so incredible on my partner i give it a love...and I can see this easily being a signature scent for men.

Actually like this a touch more than imagination, they're kinda doing a similar thing. This is a little more floral with a touch less soapy clean than imagination. I can see how people would think it's too much from the opening, especially if oversprayed, but once it settles I think it gets better and better. Slightly masculine leaning unisex, so not for everyone. I'm learning that I like luxurious floral unisex frags for their comforting and inviting kind of tone.

French Riviera, smells just like ocean water while having a luxury sun lotion on you, i sprayed once in my hand and took a shower and the fragrance still stick smelling on you, this is a summer banger!! Update: This guy at work told me: come here a sec, what you got on today? I told him is niche and he said boy you smell good!! then another guy at work who i never talk to, started cologne conversation with me!, French Riviera is definitely a conversation starter!

Finally gave into the hype after like 2 years.. personally, I think the hype is warranted. It's like relaxing in a spa, drenched in sunscreen after a long day at the beach or by the pool. I haven't worn it yet because French Riviera is incredibly situational. It feels wrong to wear this in the frozen, barren wasteland that I live in (Canada in April- It's still f*cking snowing). Can't wait to wear this on beach days. I'll probably do another review.

Exceptional orangey, salty aquatic, refreshing, smooth and creamy essence creating pure wearing pleasure. Projects relaxing easy-going vibes and a sunny oceanic beach ambience. Great outdoors, casual occasions and for chilling anytime, anywhere, year round. Has fantastic sillage, projection and longevity. This is a great well balanced and composed fragrance with a distinct enjoyment factor. Happy to have it.

If you like masculine floral fragrances, you should definitely try this one. When you smell it and close your eyes, it can take you straight to the beach or remind you of the perfect summer day. It’s one of the best fresh fragrances in my little collection. That said, it’s not a safe blind buy at all it’s the kind of scent that can go either way you’ll either love it or hate it. Overall rating: 8.25/10

Finally got this and it’s really really nice, like a salty sunscreen type of scent with some white florals. Doesn’t smell safe to me though, I think some might hate this profile and say it’s too sharp or obnoxious, personally think it’s smooth yet slightly sharp, but also really light. Performance is great too, definitely recommend for the summer if you can afford it

The only thing masculine smelling to me is the pine if I focus on the pine. Otherwise, it smells like sitting on a sunny beach with light sunscreen on, drinking a moscow mule after applying a revlon super lustrous lipstick. Oddly specific yes, but it smells like a genuine memory to me. A happy one. I have a soft spot for this fragrance. It made me cry a little.

Best summer scent in my collection. I have tried a 1000 at least. Every day safe, performs excellently and smells like high-quality lotion. Realistic citrus with the peel and aquatic salt water notes are all well blended, lying in a bed of white florals. Expensive, refined, and better than 99% of the garbage people under me have favorited. 9/10

Very good and fresh. Definitely smells like a good expensive sunscreen in the best way possible. Dries down to a more salty aquatic scent. To me this is a very good summer fragrance or even an everyday. If you can pick this up for around 150CND I would definitely recommend. I blind bought this for 135CND and I was not disappointed.

This is like a combination of city of stars and aqua wood, but more masculine than city of stars. I dig it, but it is a bit situational. Many here are mad at hype, but thats the thing about hype, if you get caught up in it you will be disappointed because of unrealistic expectations. Overall it's a solid fragrance.

If you want to know what it smells like without buying a expensive sample.. go to superdrug and buy the nivea lovesun shower gel. Its the exact same smell. Personally i love it. Reminds me of being abroad as a kid, lasts quite a while for a summer scent. People only hate cos its hyped online. 9/10 for me.

This is a beach scent, the opening has some nice fresh citruses but when it dries it kinda just goes to a florally slightly citrusy aquatic sunscreen. It is good but not amazing, super fresh. It also burns my neck when I start sweating so -1 points for that. Overhyped but still nice.

This is an amazingly priced niche fragrance. You can find it for around $80. The presentation is amazing it comes with the leather gold mancera bag and the magnetic cap is a nice touch. French Riviera is everything a beach is and it layers really well with sunscreen on.

This is just... Amazing honestly, when i think of the beach i think of this masterpiece. It smells like an expensive sun lotion at the beach with a salty breeze with some floral and citrusy notes. Overall, this is a 9/10 would only wear on hot summer days.

Don’t listen to the negative comments. When I first smelled it, it didn’t wow me. But the more I smelled it I couldn’t stop going back. The opening is fresh, addicting citrus and then it dries down into a salty, musky, aquatic scent. Compliment MAGNET.

vacation on a luxury cruise, clean, summer all over, saltwater, sunscreen, playing in the sun. this is very nostalgic and brings back happy memories for me! unisex but leans a little too masculine for me to wear personally, i love this nonetheless

When I first bought it, I thought it was a very simple perfume that doesn't live up the hype nor worth the price but it seems to have grown on me as I used it. Now, even if I don't wear it every day, I pick up the bottle and smell it

In my opinion this smell is so reminiscent of being on holiday and waking up going to the luxury hotel lobby with smell of sunscreen in the air, clean hotel and sea air from the beach. This is exactly that and I love it for summer

A sunny day, in the Beach, while eating citrus fruits and your wife puts sunscreen on you, this is a beautiful citrusy fragrance with nice florals and sea notes, with a musky, clean, beachy and sunscreeny drydown

Smells like the lobby of a luxourious hotel on a beach resort. Clean, salty, a bit sweet, very fresh. Quiet and intimately yours. Perfect for white outfit, undoubtly with white linen shirt. Summer perfection!

I just recieved a partial of this as a gift. It reminds me strongly of a bar of soap (possibly zest?) from the 80's. I'm not getting the sunscreen smell. It's definitely a spring/summer fragrance. I like it.

I do pick up on the sunscreen vibe; however, it’s really nice and smooth. I enjoy the freshness as it’s different from the typical blue I smell. It’s not a GO TO fragrance but it does the trick when needed.

9.1/10 It smells like a beach. This is probably one of the best summer/holiday scents out there, but it all depends on whether you like the smell of sun screen or not.

Highly underrated, reminds me of a special night by the ocean. Performance is amazing and is very non-offensive unlike some seaweed marine profiles.
