I don't know why my mind is tripping right now. Whenever this scent dries down, there is a big fraction similarity to YSL's Bleu Electrique.

Mandarina Duck Cool Black was a weird fragrance sugestion for me. I never tried any of the other Mandarina Duck Black fragrances so I don't know if it is a flanker in smell or not. I did however initially heard of it being a Versace Dylan Blue with some JPG Le Male Eau Fraiche to it. A weird mix if you ask me. Does it live up, not really to the Dylan Blue side, but it surprisingly does for Le Male Eau Fraiche and dare I say, it isn't as cloying. Cool Black is a weird scent. It really don't have much of a similar note mostly because there isn't a spicy neroli note, the cotton candy like aldehyde and mint combo or ambroxan and vanilla notes. In a way, those notes are overdone and a little played out. Instead you get a spicy citrus open that actually lasts and goes in a resinous direction with some florals in the hysup and violet. The base is a mix of cedar and musk. It is weird how this is similar to the Eau Fraiche Le Male flankers. Cool Black is pretty versatile in use and performance as oppose to Le Male Eau Fraiche. Performance is slighter and more subdue which is a better thing as I thought Eau Fraiche is a little too powerful and cloying (though I am not sure if that is a chicken or the egg situation.) Cool Black lasts about an hour and a half on initial projection, yet lasts a total of six hours. Use wise as it is lessened from Eau Fraiche though depending how hot it is when you wear it, it may get cloying. It works for work, dates and I guess clubs, if it is sprayed heavily. I would say it works spring, summer and in Indian summer fall days. Mandarina Duck Cool Black feels like it is a best kept secret. It is a nice spicy yet sweet scent. I find it is everything that most find Le Male Eau Fraiche good to me. I rate it a 7.3 out of 10 due to slight issues with being cloying if the heat is too much unlike Eau Fraiche that is pretty easily.

So I loved Pure Black by this designer and I was hoping that the previous reviews held true, that this was lighter and brighter. I blind bought this and I am undecided about it. It projects well (like Pure Black), it's floral (like Pure Black). It's warm (like Pure Black) but less so. It's a little woody, like Pure Black and soft and sweet. I don't find it as spicy, or as charismatic. This one lacks the magic of Pure Black for me. The cinnamon, blood orangey woody floral composition that is Pure Black is something I love. It was what I needed to become a fan of the One Million scents. A little more mature and romantic. Cool Black is very lavendar to me, so much so that it reminds me of cross between Sexual by Michel Germain, and Burberry Touch with some one million thrown in. I like it, and I might have liked it more had I not been so seduced by Pure Black. I might have to pass on this. decent 7/10 if I was to rate it with Pure black an easy 8 for my style. This is a little bit better suited to spring/fall daytime wear while Pure Black is great for fall/winter and chilly spring day/night. Sure this is more versatile but not by much. Pure Black has magic, and that's unforgettable to wear; but this might be better for the someone else smelling you, I'll test that next. :) Edit: After 5 wearings, this is addictive and confirmed, more versatile than regular Pure Black. As a standalone review, the floral elements of this fragrance are masculined out by the slightly aquatic/fresh elements included in the fragrance. It's uplifting with silliage and projection performing above average. It's almost giving me the impression of a office-friendly Desire by Dunhill (original red). Don't like giving number ratings but my 7/10 prior definitely moves to an 8.

I've tested it now. Fits the name, it's just a fresh version of Black. I'm tired to see fresh, sport or cool flankers wich hasn't nothing in common with the original fragrances. Cool Black is like Black with toned down warm notes, and the fresh notes were toned up. No more, no less. But this could be a double edged weapon too. Would I buy it having the original? I don't know. Don't get me wrong, this is better than thousand of fresh fragrances, it's not generic, not synthetic at all, but... While the original is great, this is just very nice. The sweetness remains in Cool Black, but with less vanilla & tonka and more citrus & woods. It's like the the top notes of the original with some citrus. However after 12 hours, they smell almost the same but a little bit muskier on this. If you like the original Pure Black, it's 90% sure you'll like this, and probably you'll be found yourself in my same situation (i don't know if buy it). If you haven't the original but you like it, this could be a nice buy for this summer. It lasts as Pure Black, but the sillage here is a little (only a little) lower.

I just got the bottle today, and it is nice. Here is why it is nice....Because it reminds me exactly of "Black." There is very little difference between the two. There is just a hair more citrus, and I mean a hair more. I am a little disappointed that they made something so similar. I was hoping for a real athletic/energetic summer scent. Honestly, if you have "Black" save your money as they smell almost identical. EDIT--------- After wearing it on my hands for two days, I can say the drydown is where the main difference occurs. It has less pepper/tonka and more atheltic (citrus/spicy/wood) smell which is actually pretty great.VERY masculine. I think this can be my Summer or winter scent. I would take this over "Black" as I love the masculine sportiness to it. Longevity = Decent, not as good as "Black" but not terrible. Sillage = Not bad. Again, not as strong as original. Overall: Super masculine scent with a great touch of sport. If you have original it might be good to compare the two to see if you like the sporty or the original.

Didn't know what to expect but after opening the box- well, it thought to myself 'Not to shabby, not to shabby';) You have to love this sweet-aromatic blend with woody undertones. I can't see one reason why people are not buying this more often. It is not expensive at all, it stands out, has decent sillage and it lasts quite awhile.

Since I try to avoid musky dark perfumes, I found those perfume pleasant to wear. A sweet powdery smell lingers on the skin, and gets compliments from your partner. But gets a bit boring when worn for too long. Guess it can be used by a female since it doesn't have a strong many aroma.

Even most of listed notes are different, but to me it's really just a lighter version of original Pure Black with similar longevity and projection.

SWEET LIGHT WOODY MUSKY surprised to not see tonka bean as a listed note because it has that slightly cotton candy sweetness to it (luckily none of the notes are loud or the fragrance would be too sweet for men like Mandarina Duck Black is), MD Cool Black is basically just a lighter version of MD Black, but it dries to PE 360 Red Men (which is a spicier Aqua di Gio clone) fresh cinnamon spicy/watery clean + Mandarina signature citrus-tonka sweetness; it is also slightly similar to JPG Popeye but they're distinctly different. I would say this frag is a quieter JPG Popeye + Givenchy Gentleman Only Absolute, it has the citrus, creamy, and woodiness of Gentleman Only Absolute + the freshness of JPG Popeye, just not as bold as them. sweet & has a light floralness enough to be unisex but has masculine freshness; Contemporary Mass-appealing GREAT SMELLING fragrance with POOR PERFORMANCE; SILLAGE/PROJECTION: OK, it's a very light scent, but can get noticed in close settings LONGEVITY/PERFORMANCE: POOR, you'll be lucky to get 1-3 hours especially in the heat.

I tried this because I like Lorsons work. This was ok on me but really just an acceptable no nonsense freshie. For the price definitely worth trying. I used up a whole spray sample in a day so the scent disappeared on me. My favorite of hers is This Is Him.

It's like a chemical sweetness that triggered my gag reflex. Could not stand it. Also it's not similar to the Gaultier ones, mandarina duck is like a hot sweetness, whereas all the mentioned gaultier fragrances are much 'cooler'.

I just received my bottle a few minutes ago and I've sprayed one spray on my hand to have a whiff of it and here are my thoughts so far... the first 1-2 mins smell almost identical to Pure Black (I own PB too) but after that it sudden evolves into a spicier fresher kinda gourmand pleasant smell. Pure Black can be a bit cloying in the beginning if you over spray it, but you can get quite good result on the dry down. Unfortunately am wearing Pure Black today so I guess its also kinda getting in the way so I guess I need to wear this alone first and have a feel of it alone then update what I get out of it. UPDATE: Definitely a more spicy version of the original and personally I think MD did a great job with this flanker as it did not drift away from the original unlike most flankers that just smell nothing close to the original and should just be branded as a stand-alone fragrance. IMHO if you are torn apart with which one to get between the two, my advice is to get Cool Black, its much more masculine and smells classier.

This is a nice "contemporary" scent without the usual aroma chemical overload suspects (iso e super, dihydromyrcenol, and ambroxan in particular). The orange/lemon combination is strong but does not overwhelm the other notes, and it all quickly comes together. I like this more than the original, which was too similar to a number of other scents that I preferred, but this one is more dynamic and unique (in terms of what I have). There's a touch of the original that's obvious, but that's just one facet here, and the others are rather different, creating more complexity than I would expect of such a "budget" scent. Of course you won't get the complexity and naturalness of vintage, but those days are long gone now. There's a little sweetness here, so this might not be for those who want something without it. The strength seems quite good too, if not monstrous.

Roge' - It has zero similarities to AB Spirit Millionaire. Where the heck did you get this idea from? ABS Millionaire is a sweet, spicy, almost gourmand scent that if anything resembles PC 1 million, which is quite "based" on. I also disagree it's for teens. This can easily be worn by older, confident men. While this one here is just a lighter, fresher, floral version of the MD Black or Pure Black original. Great scent by the way. To hullhockey91 - I don't agree. This one resembles MD Black/ Pure Black but is not identical to it as you say but stands on its own ground. It has the original's DNA but it is a different perfume.

Bought this for $16 from ebay. The original mandarina duck black is a very nice fragrance that I owned a few years ago. I was thinking this one would be as nice as the original but I was so wrong. First couple of times I sprayed very light ( one to two sprays) and it was ok until one day I sprayed like 4 to 5 times and went for a walk. I was about to throw up the whole time walking. It smelled like burnt plastic. So bad, such a chemical shitty smell. Now I absolutely hate it. I will probably give it out to someone who does not mind smelling like this. Will not recommend to buy at all. Instead buy the original black.

Cool Black Mandarina Duck. Standard nightlife or "Hey look at me" scent. Identical to Lomani AB spirit Millionaire. Teenage fragrance.

one of the edt's that sticks to my selective skin that usually sucks fragrances, strong for a couple of hours and its cheap !

Smells exactly like Xerjoff Uden to me. For the price, it's a no brainer. Also, it is very strong.

Something that men should buy this and use it to make your loved one adore with you.smile:)
