Gold Heart V 4

I am happy to report that I do not pick on anything metallic with this. That almost scared me enough to not try it, and I'm glad I soldiered on because this is quite lovely. It is a peppery-woody milk fragrance. Just lovely. It reminds me a lot of another favorite, L'ARTISAN Venenum 32. And also somewhat of L'ORCHESTRE Piano Santal (but with more spice). The spice is not overly done in this, which is another thing I was worried about. And even though this is Unisex, I do think it leans more masculine - only in the sense that most females will probably think the spicy woody facets read "masculine". But there is nothing in this that specifically reads "men's cologne". I am happy to wear this, as a 38 yr old female who mainly enjoys lactonic, woody, and gourmand scents... I wish I knew Le Feu d'Issey because it sounds like a dream. But this is an absolute winner for anyone who enjoys the 2 fragrances I've mentioned above. This is the first fragrance I've tried from this house, but now I wonder what other tricks they have up their sleeve? This is a firm 8.5-9/10 in my book.

Just wow. I got some samples with purchase last month. On a whim, I sprayed v4 before going on a boat trip the other day and I was blown away. It won me over immediately and as it dried down, I fell more in love. It's a spicy burst but beautifully balanced. Nothing hurts the noise. Cardamom can usually take over, as does pepper but nothing overwhelmed me. There's a hint of cinnamon too. Once the spice settles, there's a delicious milky saffron that stays for a long time. Eventually with the dry down there's a nicely blended wood. The website mentions sandalwood which I was surprised with, as most sandalwood based fragrances have me reaching for the scrubbing brush. I was close to buying a full bottle by the end of the day, but I'm trying to be more restrained in 2025! Great performance. Might not be for everyone so not a blind buy perhaps but I love that it's similar but different, if that makes sense. Very unique and I have nothing like it in my collection.

WAAAHAGHAHGAHHHGHHHH!! I LOVE THIS!! NEW FAVOURITE!! I have the MoTH sample pack and I am trying so hard to give every perfume a full day of wear but I only want to wear this one. I think this is a really interesting scent. The pepper seems to bring out the best in every component. It's warm and sweet but the pepper cuts away what is normally cloying in warm/sweet fragrances and just makes it fresh and zingy. It just smells so damn good on me. My only issue is that I wish it projected more. That's because I'm a bit of an obnoxious person and I want to enforce my good taste in perfume on others. I want people to cough when I walk in the room. Beautiful, I bought a number of MAP bottles, undiscovered treasures!!!! Following Purple Heart which wowed me I was intrigued by the Milk and Spice connotation. For once the note table pretty much sings in tune for once. Saffron and spice mixed with milk on a wood base. Slightly dark, almost inky - at a quick whiff I’m almost reminded of dry wine Tanin in a glass but a linger reminds you of the notes. I’m not familiar with Feu d’issey (not usually one of my preferred brands) but I would be convinced that this should typically be stronger. Having said that - the only negative is whilst not a poor performer it requires some robust application which is okay except in relation to the price. For me this is an awesome (though not identical) alternative to Lubin Korrigan in this genre. Love it!

Well said by Vintage April - it smells like a long lost love. Like a lover who seduces you with patience but you see that she wants to fall for you too. Both very retro and very surprisingly new, musky and sweet, very bipolar but the poles are in complete harmony. Totally agree with the description of the authors of the fragrance - it's nurturing. I want to hug myself when I smell it because I can't hug her. My favorite perfume, def a bargain, surprised I found something this gently mighty kicky for this 150e price.

If Horlicks was a gorgeous perfume this would be it... Stunning slightly soured milk (the saffron helping) with delish spices and gorgeous woods underneath (smooth sandalwood most noticeably). Vaguely reminds me of Lubin Korrigan. Great value from this underrated Australian brand. Only complaint is that whilst not weak it could be stronger.

I knew it! Tested it today and it reminded me of something I knew and loved before! Le Feu D'issey!!! Thank you Lord! This is a worthy substitute for one of my all time favourites.

Super harsh opening that disappears quite quickly to leave smooth woody spice milk notes. Stick with this one as it gets better and better as it dries down.

There are many creative offerings from MotH and Gold Heart is my favourite for not only being unique, but also wearable. The scent opens with pepper and a tinge of metal from saffron to warm the composition. The body of the scent presents as a creamy milk, sweetened with orange blossom and mild vanilla. Though it doesn't smell real, it so clearly evokes the feeling and warmness of milk. It's such a striking effect and is precisely what made me fall for the scent. Silky sandalwood in the base completes the illusion. Over time, the spicy edge of the opener subsides, creating a milky musky bubble. Projection is on the intimate side and wears for about 6 hours. However, everything about this scent is super comfortable and would make for perfect wearing on a cold night by a fire.

I should admit its not a perfume that I would ever purchase..But the overall vibe is really unique, it feels Elegent, bold and sensual at the same time. The bottle itself is so striking, with its heart-shaped design. it really gives off that feeling of indulgence and confidence making it a little extra special. overall 7/10

Smells like a particularly strong chai latte with no added sugar. Pleasant, but the sharp spices is very in your face, a head turner for sure. As it dries down I also get a buttery popcorn vibe for some reason, or maybe bechamel sauce, which I assume is from the milk note. Very odd indeed.

A composition that opens with warm spices. In time, creamier notes come to the fore, rendering the fragrance enveloping and soothing. True to its name, it imparts a sense of peace.

Fragrantica is missing some of the notes, the official list is as following: Top - Pink Peppercorn, Cardamom, Cinnamon Heart - Warm Milk, Saffron, Rose Oil, Peach Base - Cedarwood, Musks, Australian Sandalwood This is not what I expected, but still weirdly fitting for the bizzare metallic heart bottle. I really get the peach, a fruit I usually enjoy, but find mismatched in this composition. Together with the very strong saffron it has a carotty, medicinal vibe of multivitamin juice that makes me feel slightly uncomfortable. The milk note is specifically WARM milk, smells like it was warmed up in the microwave for a little too long, which also clashes with the fruitiness and saffron. The dryness of the woods and the other spices don't help to balance it either, it all smells very unharmonic and jumbled to me. In theory I like all the notes, but I don't like how they're executed and blended here. On the plus side this is at least unusual and unique. I have never smelled Le Feu d'Issey though. The only scent I had a similar response to was Kyse Cuir Vertigo, but they're not that similar, it's just that I get an unintentional "multi juice with carrots in a messy blend of notes" accord from both and don't like it.

Gold Heart is ultra peppery in the opening. I can almost taste it. Underneath the pepper, there is some sweetness and an unfamiliar note that I don't like - perhaps the saffron. I find it hard to pick up on the milk because the spices are just too much for me, and if I get too close, it makes me feel a little bit ill... My least favourite fragrance from this brand is Black Heart, but Gold Heart is a very close second.

Yes! Yes! Yes! This beautiful golden heart is bottling the fire of Le Feu d’Issey! I bought it blind from Europe after reading other Fragranticians’ reviews, and it just arrived this afternoon. I am ecstatic! It’s as if my true love from 20 years ago has returned to me. If a perfume could be a soul mate, Le Feu d’Issey is mine. Gold Heart V. 4 is an uncanny reincarnation of my lost love. It would be difficult for me to discern the difference in the top notes in a blind test. It’s as if I have been given another chance at happiness, but this time I am older, wiser, and I know what love is. I will cherish it, celebrate it, and buy it every chance I get to build up a hoard so that I can wear it daily for my remaining years on this earth. Happiness is mine at last. Day 2: I’ve brought out my last precious bottle of Le Feu to conduct an experiment — Le Feu on my left arm and Gold Heart on my right. During the dry-down Gold Heart becomes sweeter, and a bit powdery. Going from one arm to the other throughout the afternoon, what Gold Heart is missing the most is the mouth-watering kick of bergamot. I need to find the proper citrusy vehicle to layer in. I also am craving Le Feu’s lovely Bulgarian rose. I can play at alchemist and stalk about perfume shops in search of my missing notes to add in. Through the years I’ve tried most every perfume others have compared to Le Feu d’Issey, from Etro Etra, to Jiacomo No. 8, to the scent I have been wearing for the past year, L’Artisan’s Poivre Piquant. Gold Heart by far comes closest to Le Feu, especially in the punch drunk effect of its first heavy hit. It is a worthy foundation upon which I can endeavor to reconstruct, to resurrect my lost love.

Definitely a niche one! It starts with a bright peppery note, a direct explosion of spice and milkiness. There is something metallic though in the beginning that does not prevail (thank God). Afterwards it is very well balanced. Creamy. The perfect combination, nothing sticks out, doesn't cause an unpleasant tickle and itching in the nose, as sometimes happens from pepper flavors. I wish I could feel a bit more of the rose. For those who are in search of something similar to Le feu D'Issey, I must admit that when I first applied this v 4, I had the same reminiscence as when I wore le Feu D'Issey. While le Feu has more stages and develops differently in every hour of the wearing, Map of the heart is more linear. Map of the heart v 4 is maybe as close as one can get to Le Feu, so I am happy to have found something as similar. If you are not familiar with le Feu, Map of the heart is a great perfume on its own. Creamy, surprising and unique. I sometimes feel that I am completely anosmic to it, but then the other moment I get whims of it. Surely an interesting one.

This was a blind buy and it is pretty successful. The opening is dry, peppery and spicy. I really can’t detect the milky thing that everyone else can in the first 15 minutes. It is woody and spicy. But as that fades, it does become more milky but like skimmed milk- no fat, no sweetness. It blends very well with the woods and becomes smooth and silky. This is the successful part for me. It just gets better from here. So i wait about 20 minutes and then enjoy! After wearing this all day, I have to say this is a very unique perfume. It is quite aromatic and green whilst still being warm and cosy. I think thIs may be one of my favourites. I like this house- very interesting and well crafted perfumes. I highly recommend this perfume for everyone.

This is an awesome perfume. Very, very similar to Le Feu D'Issey, which is much of the reason that I made the purchase. Regardless of whether or not you are trying to find a perfume in lieu of Le Feu, this is a remarkable scent on its own merit. Creamy, woody, and spicy notes. The only drawback is that it is only well detected for the first 1-2 hours before needing a touch-up spray. It works well to apply both on your body and clothes to help this beautiful scent last a bit longer throughout the day. THIS IS SUCH A GREAT PERFUME!!! AND WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT. Thank you to everyone above who provided a review: you helped me to get reunited with the closest substitute for Le Feu I've ever smelled since it was discontinued.

I’m sorry... someone must have been high as a kite when they did the scent profile or wrote up the notes for this. I get nothing warm spicy at all!! This is a gourmand that’s trying to behave with the most magical dry down. One thing map of the heart do phenomenally well is their dry down - they have some kinda magic they put in these bottles! This is beautiful. It’s a true gourmand but not a sickly sweet one at all. It’s sensible, responsible and will be home by 9pm, mopping the floor with a face mask on. This fragrance is sweet, but not diabetic and it’s like you can hear a lullaby play as it settles on your skin. Kudos to Map Of The Heart - this is yet another banger!

My fav map of the heart: from gold(4), white(7) to red(3). The milky scent is stable here. It's SO CALMING. I think the saffron boost the milk note last longer and stronger. (That's why ppl think it's too sweet?!) Anyway, the saffron (and peach) note is being low-key here not like other nowadays common saffron-oud scents out there. The longevity and silage of milk are better than Cow (can’t tell how much I hate the strong cheap green apple scent, it draws me more attention than the milk note) Love this gem ( I mean heart

What an amazing lactonic. Not gourmand at all. A very neutral milk - maybe dairy farmers full cream, simmers on the stove with some cardamom pods, saffron threads, peppercorns and cinnamon. Is it a nod towards chai tea? Indian cooking? A modern Australian spice cabinet for a gen x hippie mum? Who knows. I've only just sprayed it 5 minutes ago on my wrist. So far, decent projection. I can't stop sniffing. I will update. It's indian rice pudding. Yum.

It smells exactly as said in pyramid - opening with blast of black pepper, which has indeed that milky note, which calms down pepper a bit. Then milk note gets more and more noticeable, it gets sweeter turning into almost condensed milk smell (like in Matin Calin by CSP). Soft spicy saffron note however prevents it from turning into sticky sweetness overload. Really nice relaxing and cozy fragrance.

This changes quite a bit on me over a few hours. First it's very peppery, and there is a lot of cardamom, which I like. Then it morphed into mint chewing gum which I didn't like that much because it reminded me of a smoker who is trying to mask their breath with chewing on some very minty gum. Then it changed into a milky, cinnamon and cardamom dessert, which I liked again..

I was just reading out of curiosity because I blind bought this (buthaven’t gotten it yet.) I wanted to recommend to the reviewer who needed some bergamot kick to add to this in order to reconstruct Le Feu d’Issey (which I never smelled) Nice Bergamot from Essential Parfums! It’s so perfectly almost a pure bergamot and very cheap- $75.

What an adventure - opens with a blast of metallic pepper, dies down into a milky cardamom that is somewhat savoury, and ends with a steamy glass of warm milk. The saffron is rubbery and pervasive throughout the life of the fragrance, I think I'd prefer it if the saffron was removed as it would allow the milk note to shine.

Metallic, little bit of spicy, hint of sweetness that quickly burns off, more pleasant in the dry down. Not sure what to think except I wish I would've sampled something else.

Im disappointed. Im milk fan. But in this perfume it was not successes.. you cannot mix milk with black pepper .. never happened in reality.. its a bad idea.

OK so it's not 100% identical but almost nothing I've ever smelt is a close to my long lost love Feu d'Issey and for that I will love this forever.

Despite its really peppery opening it does smell good.
