Rigor Mortis

At first it smelled minty, maybe kinda flowery. But then.. i realized it smells like a corpse. Or- like someone who is abt to die at the very next day. I sprayed it on a piece of paper and then hide it in my bag. Next day everything what was inside this bag smelled like this. I throw it away because i couldn’t handle feeling of decomposing body in my bag.. it was a few months ago. I still feel Rigor Mortis in my bag. It wont let me forget

a highly indolic, cold, evocative fragrance. it has the sterile, naphthalene scent of a hospice or morgue, embalming fluids and waxy, pallor mortis skin. really unpleasant, totally unwearable, and definitely an art piece

First spray: Happy because it smelt wearable (sort of floral minty) then it went into straight something creepy and off-putting that might be considered a decomposing body if it was washed with chemicals and filled with a ton of formaldehyde/preservation fluids in a morgue. After a little while it went into burnt rubber tire territory and thats where I tapped out and had to scrub it off. I loved the bottle, concept and box but it is purely an art piece like Inexcusible Evil as I think this stinks too much to be enjoyable enough to wear (to yourself or others). Smell is hard to describe but imagine you had a jar full of methylated spirits stuffed with flowers petals that are rotting and maybe the decomposing body of a small animal you've dug up and mixed in some acetone and maybe some other cleaning/car products like windex and/or blinker fluid and this is sort of what this smells like. It did infact give me that 'pit in the stomach' feeling that Inexcusble Evil and White Hero by Adi Ale Van did because it does somehow manage to capture this 'off'/unnatural/clinical/chemical morgue-like smell and make my skin crawl. The perfumer has truly created a piece of art, but how much of the 'rigor mortis' scent is effectively captured/represented is probably influenced more by the presentation. The bottle and box is definitely part of this piece of art as it looked/felt like deceased yellowing Livor Mortis skin (using a silicone cover over the perfume bottle) complete with little veins peaking through and the box had an an image of a what appeared to be alegitimate (and graphic) vintage post mortem photograph on it on a wood casket-esque box. TLDR, want it for the bottle and concept but would not wear it, stinks really really bad.

I'm going to spend a little more time with this guy, maybe a date alone with the paints and a canvas, maybe dinner, maybe an empty book and me. Indolic is all. The perfume your friends hate, but you don't care because you're a fucking loner (a paradox) and a loser and you wear shit like this because maybe one day someone as weird as you will approach and say 'hey, wanna talk about nothing?' Another funeral fragrance, another polarising brew of natural confusion. Someone ought to do a study on the ones who love indolic smells vs the ones who shudder and wince. I'm afraid of death, but I ain't afraid of Rigor Mortis. This is well crafted art and—like all great art—this will divide the living, but that doesn't matter when you're one of me. If you love Cocaïne by Franck Boclat, then you'll probably be into this. Only it's far less rock n roll, and a bit more Leonard Cohen, Banshees, Sisters of Mercy vibes. If you regularly attend funerals, consider this your new favourite accessory. If you're a trad goth, this might be for you. People will hate it and others will love it, either way, you'll turn heads. I prefer the V.I.T.R.I.O.L, but they're not really to be compared so I don't know why I did. Peace. Love. Death. Btw this is very indolic. Not for everyone.

Where to start? The box looks like junk from the 50s being sold at a flea market. Bottle, looks interesting but has the same quality and feel of a made in china, halloween rubber mask plastered in lead paint. Atomizer is atrocious, leaks all over into the cap and sprayer button. If you can somehow get past this and manage to spray yourself with this vile concoction, you are greeted with a mentholated breeze, covering up for what can only be described as dried up c u m + s a l i v a. As the mentholated opening fades, the wretched effluvium does not evolve, it merely starts fading until you either throw up or manage to scrub out the remnants on your skin. I'm all up for niche, experimental and everything in between. But this is plain and simply wicked. And don't even get me started on the AI generated campaign behind the brand. 0/10

Rigor morttis is quite sharp, naphtalene with some kind of bitter herb. It is not a complex fragrance, it is not suffocating like vitriol or farmakon. It is lighter, sharp grey. Reminescent of a corpse, very stale and sharp. After a while it turns little salty and waxy
