Phenomenology of a Scent (aka: when I became part of the perfume itself) The abstract concept that gave birth to this fragrance? The parable of the ten virgins. The philosophy of fear. Time. Tension. The human. The bottle: a threshold. And the threshold has a veil. And the wearer, to cross it, must tear it with their own hand. Because fear is performative: it dissolves only through courage. So far, everything makes sense. So far. Then comes the scent. I brace for an assault — an olfactory cacophony, an apocalypse of notes — and instead, no. I find myself in an abstract cabin, suspended in nothingness. I smell myself. There are green saps, with a gourd-like tang, there are flowers — blended with salt, soft mosses beneath me, and there is my skin, so vividly alive. It’s an idyll. But it’s unreal. It feels like a dream. A common scent, human. Too common. Too human. Too... standard. Is this a joke? I feel fine. It feels good. It’s home. It’s family. It’s memory. ... Filippo? Is this a UNUM creation, or is it a deodorant? What is this lightheartedness? Why do I smell like a human who’s rolled with joy through grass and sand? Where is the catastrophe? Where is the fear? Filippo, when does it arrive? I don’t want to settle into this warmth. Tell me when, Filippo. Or did you really create something so innocent and light? Light like time that flies. Light like the human condition that burns down like a candle and then — smoke. When is the moment, Filippo? When do the notes come that change everything? €220 for this? ... Wait. Why do I feel — more and more distinctly — my sweat threading its way into the fragrance? Why do I keep asking when it arr— What did I just say? There it was. The fear. Not in the fragrance, but in me, in you, in us. In my waiting, in my need for rupture, in my terror of recognizing myself too clearly, of no longer being a spectator, but an actor. Of living in an idyll at the mercy of an abyss. That carefree ecstasy will end, just as my childhood once did. I find myself an active participant in the very meaning of the perfume. And no one ever understood that. Except those who waited for death in the perfume, and discovered, with horror and tenderness, that it wasn’t there — or maybe had always been there — in our lives, in the waiting: but when? When, do you know? — as the parable teaches — be ready, we do not know, and we will never know neither the day, nor the hour.

From the start, I experience a lot of citrus notes, mostly zest, a generous portion of cardamom, the sweetness of tonka beans, and a creamy facet of sandalwood. All of this is accompanied by a clean, fluffy musk. Initially, for just a brief moment, there’s a sensation reminiscent of cardamom cookies. After a couple of minutes, the spices and lemon recede, quiet down, and the scent fills the air with a dense aroma of pure water, slightly mineral, perhaps even chlorinated. The musk becomes bodily and wet. Floral notes are woven into the fragrance very subtly and lightly, more like the scent of skincare products with a floral fragrance. After a little while, woody and amber notes emerge. In the base, the scent becomes rounded, very soft, and continues to play with notes of amber, sweet beans, and sandalwood. The bright musk shimmers with all its facets; sometimes it’s bodily and dense, and at other times it’s fluffy and fresh, just like at the start of the fragrance. Occasionally, there’s a note reminiscent of hot irons in the development. As for my impression, the fragrance is very beautiful, multifaceted, and complex. I’ve been wearing it today for the fourth consecutive day, and each time it reveals a new side. In the open air, outdoors, its sound is striking. Despite what seems to be a positive pyramid, the fragrance comes off as dark and melancholic. I don’t know, maybe the packaging influenced my perception, or perhaps the story behind the inspiration, but the scent is far from simple. Many people say that the fragrance is much simpler and more straightforward than other perfumes in the UNUM line. I understand what they mean, but I don’t fully agree. Yes, there are no burnt trash notes, fundamental church resins, or blood with iron, but in my perception, the fragrance is complex and thoughtful. I can’t think of another scent that resembles this one, so there’s not much to compare it to. I highly recommend testing it before purchasing; it’s a peculiar fragrance, meant for connoisseurs.

Very brutalist scent - bitter flowers and herbs, cold concrete, dust, metal, musk, stoney minerals, and sea water. My imagination draws some ruined war hospital, day time, summer. I love this fragrance but there is too much citruses for me, especially in the opening. The lemon is very acidic and gives that cheap chemical air freshener first couple of minutes after spray. It gets a little better with time, but I'd still prefer to have less citruses here. The rest of the fragrance is very nice and interesting, though it's pretty linear and doesn't change much with time. There is lots of musk and it smells very weird - it kinda resembles sweat, but not humane body odor? It's clean and synthetic (in a good way), like if robots could sweat? I think this fragrance is a good fit for a hot summer when you want an "aesthetic niche" vibe and do not want to suffocate or overheat. It has that weird smoky/dusty stagnant air vibe (pretty much like most Filippo Sorchinelli fragrances), but it's not heavy and is countered by citruses and flowers freshness. Great performance, lasts 8+ hours on my skin, and days on clothes. Overall 7/10

People seem to make this into something it isnt. I have broad taste and experience but I would call this a polarising perfume. It is extraordinary and unique though - classic Scorcinelli. Its hard to define. Its strong and long lasting but not offensive. It’s unique and left field but great in a professional setting. Its a psychotic perfume. It starts with a harsh citrus but quickly melts into a soft oily sweet airy citrus nose to skin letting a smooth iris galbanum give it body that’s more detectable at arms length. Somehow after a while the mids bouyed out by the perfectly sweet rose and jasmine helping make it airy and building a warm solar note ala the slight airy creaminess of sunscreen cream with the tiniest amount of sweet warm wood. An amazing build for a perfume. Even if you dont like it youll marvel its construction. This is how I percieve it - totally inoffensive, unique, totally unisex and great performance. I promise if you try it you will love it even if its not for you to wear.

citrus and spice heavy paired with a salty marine like quality carried all throughout remaining aromatic and definitely powdery at times probably due to the soft florals appearing more during it's stay. I honestly enjoy this but can definitely see the body odor / sweat like facet, especially strengthened from that salty almost warm skin like feel. If you can get past that though this is beautiful.
