Aldebaran

I am not a professional perfume critic, and this is my first review ever. I am an ordinary woman, enchanted by “Ganymede” and “Tilia”. I bought “Aldebaran” on a whim, without trying, curious because of its shockingly negative reviews online. After wearing “Aldebaran” for a while, two things became clear: First, if you appreciate “Ganymede” and “Tilia”, it is impossible not to love “Aldebaran”. It does not in any way repeat them, but Quentin Bisch's signature style is very recognizable. Second, I am now convinced that negative reviews must be an organized campaign against this brand, which consistently delivers masterpiece after masterpiece, each new one better than the one before. While personal connection to a scent can vary, it's undeniable that “Aldebaran” is the work of a genius. Much like Beethoven's music, it may not be for everyone, but its significance is indisputable. Lacking professional knowledge, it's hard for me to describe what “Aldebaran” smells like. I'll just say—it's not just a fragrance. It's an entire journey, an enriching experience. Other perfumes usually work like this: first, you notice the scent, then start to detect individual notes. “Aldebaran” is the only fragrance that, in my perception, works the other way around. Initially, it opens like a night sky, with an overwhelming multitude of different hues—both cool and warm, near and distant—that in a split second arrange themselves into a completely unique, new picture. Yes, something resembling minty “Listerine” mouthwash (which is the main argument of “Aldebaran” haters) is one of the bright initial sparks in this aroma, but only for a fraction of a second. It makes you smile with its brilliance. It's a small yet pivotal step that magically transports the entire fragrance to another dimension—and it's executed with absolute genius. I once said about “Ganymede”: “I love it to the moon and back”. Similarly, wearing “Aldebaran”launches you into the cosmos, transforming you from an earthling to an interstellar dweller. Earthly charms fade as “Aldebaran” propels you toward the brightest part of the universe, where you wish to remain indefinitely. My love for “Aldebaran” goes far beyond the moon. It reaches as far as Aldebaran itself, with no desire to be back.

People who vote saying this fragrance has moderate or less than moderate longevity/sillage are insane! I got a sample of it from aromadeus.com because I’ve heard it wasn’t a safe “blind-buy”. Immediately, upon the very first spray it smelled very lactonic to me, and not in a bad way. Then both, my mom and I, agreed that it smelled like the most realistic lily of the valley scent. Contrary to popular belief, lily of the valley doesn’t actually smell fresh, green or aquatic (trust someone who grew up in Estern Europe and spent their entire childhood sniffing freshly cut lily of the valley) the flowers actually smell earthy, with slight nutty undertone and the scent is every unique. No other flower smell like that, similar case with sunflowers. Anyways, oddly the combination of tuberose and paprika recreates the most realistic lily of the valley scent it’s mind-blowing! Instantly transported me and my mom back to our childhood. I also noticed that the lactonic note was only there the very first time I sniffed it, couldn’t detect it any longer with every next spray (my guess is that your nose goes blind to it really quickly). I don’t detect any minty/ointment-like smell from it, not even slightly. It smells very floral and earthy, creamy, not too sweet and surprisingly pleasant if you think of the real floral aroma, not the chemically recreated sweet screechy accords that most of the conventionally-produced perfumes share. Paprika and mate really add a touch of uniqueness to it. Unbelievably strong longevity and projection-wise, so use with caution. I find it suitable for any season, day or night except maybe extremely humid rainy days. You’ll definitely get noticed as it’s capable of filling up an entire hotel lobby. I had people asking hotel managers what air freshener was used to make hotels smell so good and luxurious only to find out it was me wearing Aldebaran 😄 With that being said despite it all I still recommend sampling this fragrance first as it’s certainly for a trained nose with broader scent palette. Don’t blindly purchase a full bottle of it. You might not even like it right away, but give it some time because it has the potential of becoming your new favourite scent!

A fragrantica friend here steered me onto this perfume to give it a try because I haven't been real crazy about many of the releases from this particular perfumer. I have to say that this is one of the most beautiful tuberose fragrances I have ever smelled and I've smelled quite a lot of them. In fact I would say it is the most unique one I have ever smelled. This tuberose is very milky. It feels like I'm smelling tuberose milk from the flower. But right before you think it's going to get to indolic there's a freshness although subtle that must come from the mate tea that keeps this from becoming sickly and death like, something sometimes indolic perfumes can do. If you want my honest opinion this smells like the most perfect skin on the most beautiful human being male or female. It's fleshy without being too carnal or sweaty. It's lactonic without being too milky. I have Never smelled anything like this. This is like the perfect your skin but better perfume in my opinion. It's floral without being too floral. It's skin like without being too salty or sweaty or dirty. It just smells like absolute perfection to my nose. It's very well blended and completely balanced. I could see myself wearing this all the time. Totally signature worthy especially for this day in age when you're not really allowed to smell like perfume but this is still a perfume. Literally can't stop smelling it it's going on my want list. I thought Hiram Green's moon bloom was the end all and be all of tuberose fragrances for me but this one beats that hands down for me. Why? Because of its skin like nature. When you wear this you will believe that your skin has become the petals of the tuberose flower. That's the best way I can describe how this fragrance makes me feel when I smell it. Absolutely stunning. A big love for me I will own a full bottle of this. Edit: the warm and fresh spicy combo is mild but noticeable. It feels like or should to say smells like the spice of desire. The skin of the most beautiful human in love.

If you are looking for a typical dewy, succulent, bubblegumy tuberose scent, this is nothing like it, you would be disappointed. You may have noticed that, based on the previous Marc-Antoine Barrois and Quintin Bisch’s creations, the intent has been trying to create non-representational, abstract, avant-garde fragrances that are still appealing and wearable. It is to create something timeless and unidentifiable out of the ingredients that we are familiar with. The tuberose here is going through some subtraction and multiplication, olfactorily. Certain aspect is suppressed, muted, distorted and other aspect is amplified. If I didn’t know the ingredients beforehand, my brain instantly would register it as a bitter almond fragrance. My brain and my nose just cannot help but to decipher what is happening here. This faux almond note, is just like the almond in Dior Hypnotic Poison, taken out and magnified, poured in a bottle. This faux almond note is from mate tea: camphorous, cooling, herbal bitterness, suppressing and neutralising the sweetness of tuberose, making it dry and paper-like. Paprika is barely detectable, it brings forth the spicy aspect of tuberose, creamy but restrained, as if saying this flower is alive but not in front of your eyes, look inward and you would find it. After almost 4-5 hours of application, all these fragments come together, a true tuberose emerges and blossoms on my skin, a true and realistic tuberose, not on steroid. It is still strong with volume, fleshy in an intimate way, even a bit erotic. Back in school, I used to ponder on questions like: Can conceptual art be done not just visually, but olfactorily and still be appreciated and enjoyed? Today, I can surely say: Yes!

It is official now. Aldebaran has dethroned my beloved Fracas. I never believed this day would come—but here it is. Aldebaran is the tuberose I have been searching for ever since Madonna’s Truth or Dare. What makes Aldebaran perfect to me is this: a dry, woody tuberose. Predatory. Dark. Hypnotic. And speaking of the hypnotic—this creation of Bisch’s feels like a gathering of pieces from other perfumes I have loved, other scents I have worn and weaves them into one. The spicy caraway and almond liqueur from Hypnotic Poison, for instance. Those notes I always wished would last longer, speak louder—here, they have the stage. The woody, camphorous opening of Carnal Flower, which in that perfume barely lasts five minutes, becomes the main voice in Aldebaran. And the tuberose here is masculine. No fruit. No sweetness. Compared to Bisch’s other creations, this one feels more grounded. More mature. Yes—I smell the dry mate. It gives the scent of asphalt after a summer rain, in the evening. And the paprika is used in the most perfect measure: not too much, but enough to be noticed. Enough to give the tuberose a spicy, dangerous edge. I smell the earth. The stem. The summer evening air. And finally the lactonic notes take over—melted vanilla ice-cream. I never want to be without Aldebaran. My fate was sealed after the first spritz from the discovery set. One week later, the hundred-milliliter bottle arrived.

Aldebaran opens up very radiant, fresh and green, almost like you’re smelling the actual tuberoses on the stems. I also get something cooling and minty in the opening though mint isn’t listed in the notes. As it settles down, there is a slight warmth that comes through along with a touch of earthiness while the tuberose becomes creamier - very contrasting and unique, unlike anything I’ve smelled before! It actually reminds me of how the tuberose plants that we used to have in my grandmother’s garden used to smell after the rains - fresh, floral, earthy & happy. Paparika is also listed in the notes though my nose doesn’t pick it up. From the fresh, cooling minty opening to the warm, creamy earthiness, Aldebaran takes you on a journey. It is addictive, I can’t stop sniffing my wrists, and it is unique, revealing different facets of its personality through the day. It is also elegant and unisex with moderate sillage and longevity so far. It also seems to work beautifully on my skin since I’ve got compliments each time I’ve worn it. If I had to compare, I’d say Aldebaran is the creamy, sensuous and seductive sibling of the sweet, playful, sunny Tilia. It is a beautiful and very very unique fragrance, another Quentin Bisch creative masterpiecef, but Tilia still reigns supreme in my heart.

To the ancient Egyptians, the star of Aldebaran was connected with the eye of Horus, the sky god and king of Egypt. Four hundred times brighter than the sun, it is represented as the second star of the floral constellation by Marc Antoine Barrois. Its color is red, often associated with passion, and what flower more appropriate than the tuberose to represent the "star of fire" ? To describe Aldebaran as a fragrance starring the narcotic flower par excellence would be extremely reductive. Here we are in front of a creation by Quentin Bisch (and yes, I love him), which strips itself of pleasingness and heads towards an extremely artistic dimension. A not-so-obvious tuberose, which to its heady notes adds the mate grass (it seems to perceive it in powder form), with nuances that I perceive almost metallic, very particular. I had to smell it on my skin several times to understand it, because it has a really not obvious construction, and it becomes a real sensory journey. Go and smell it, it's really particular, it comes out of the box, and you will realize that you will be more and more intrigued by its uniqueness. Of course in my collection, I wear it when I want to feel indecipherable, unique. And here I mention the mystique of Egyptian art , which represents it perfectly .

This one is fascinating. I'm both surprised and not surprised by this having such a low rating, as I don't believe this was designed with the idea of being easily accessible to the masses, but rather a truly unique and artistic interpretation of tuberose. The first time I smelled Aldebaran, I recoiled! It smelled so bizarre - maybe due to the paprika and other unidentifiable, unexpected notes, and I didn't get the tuberose at all. I was confounded by some of my favorite fragrance folks raving about this again and again; I just didn't 'get' it. But yesterday, on a venture to finally pick up my beloved Tilia, I smelled Aldebaran again -- this time applying it on my skin -- and this time she sang! I still got the rather jarring opening camphoraceous notes alongside something else rather unexpected and strange, but THEN.....after a few minutes, this unbelievable stunning, milky tuberose made her appearance, and I was truly, truly smitten. This is a true masterpiece! I'm enamored with the Bisch - Barrois team and at some point I'll definitely be adding Aldebaran to my collection as it's a captivating tuberose which lasts and projects for hours and hours! Big, BIG love for this one!!

This is a delicate floral fragrance with a screech of tubular rose, a kiss of vanilla, and a golden hint of amber, all floating on an airy, weightless breeze. It’s sheer delight captured in a bottle, perfect for those who adore fragrances that dance lightly on the skin rather than weigh it down but I find it obnoxious to be honest. Now, if your collection lacks floral notes entirely, this might not be your signature scent. But to those who dismiss florals as "too feminine," I say: who made the rules?? Some long-forgotten arbiter of taste, no doubt hardly someone worth tailoring your preferences to. After all, a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet... and just as irresistible. So, if you’re inclined toward the luminous and the petal-soft, do give this one a spritz. And if not? Well, fashion like fragrance is best when it’s fearless. Note this fragrance so potent it practically has its own gravitational pull! its the voluptuous, unapologetically tubular rose which is the culprit.

So I'm a tuberose fan, among the tuberose forward bottles I have in my collection are: T Narcotic V by Nasomatto, Tubereuse Absolute by Perris Monte Carlo, and Tubereuse Astrale by Maison Crivelli. I've veen testing Aldebaran and it got me down to TWO testers to really understand and appreciate this juice. At first I was very skeptical about it, not the typical bubblegummy sweet, carnal tuberose you'd expect, but I ended up falling in love with it. At first I thought it had a menthol camphor oil / Tiger Balm / Katinko (shout out to fellow Filipinos out there) note in it. During the time period I was testing it, I just had purchased Tubereuse Astrale by Maison Crivelli, and somehow from my work backpack, I had a roll-on bottle of camphor oil (Katinko) that had a little bit of spill and ended up mixing with some Tubereuse Astrale juice, I swear, the layering smells pretty similar to Aldebaran

I bought this perfume today. Blind buy but i am huge fan of tuberose. I am very confused about the reviews here. I can only assume they are from people that have not interacted with tuberose perfumes before? This is a very mainstream and wearable tuberose. Menthol opening lasts 15 minutes max and then you get a warm tuberose, not bubble gummy but not green either. Tuberose with spices . I dont get any peppers. Unfortunately three hours in it is a skin scent, not much projection. In my nose a "difficult" tuberose is nuit de bakelite, i appreciate the mastery of it, i own and wear it, but i wouldnt say it is an easy, wearable tuberose. Tubereuse Criminelle maybe also falls in this category but only the opening, then it evolves while nuit is persistently "difficult". All in all Aldebaran is now added in my much loved tuberose collection and plan to wear it day to day.

I suspect most of the negative reviews here are based on an immediate, up close sniff of this perfume as soon as it was sprayed on. You need to allow this perfume to settle, to bloom, to develop, and to expand. Aldebaran needs to be experienced in the air as it projects from your skin. Get yourself a sample.

OK, I've already received the bottle. The paprika accord stands out prominently — green and spicy right from the start. It's followed by mate and tonka bean, though the tuberose stays mostly in the background. Because of that, the fragrance feels quite clean and not overly sweet, especially for something in the white floral category. it have hint of tilia but just a hint not identical. It’s quite different from something like Amouage Guidance or Maison Crivelli’s Tuberose Astrale. As for first impressions, this one ranks No. 2 for me from the line so far. Not that feminine Edit : I just got complement when i wear this perfume they said that this is really soft and airy perfume with the really loud performance they smelled me since i walk out from elevator to my desk.

Very hard opening, almost unbearable. As my boyfriend says "it smells like rotten pepper" 😀🌶it has a very, very high potential of slipping into nausea territory. Aldebaran is a perfume that needs time. As in alchemy, the magic lies in transformation: Over time, the tuberose emerges and takes the lead. Its floral creaminess brightens the fragrance and makes it warmer. It is not intrusive or overly sweet, but rather feels like a bright, soft veil that gently wraps around you. This transformation is supported by the tonka bean, which calms the rough earthy notes. The drydown is similar to Tilia. 🌼 For me it's winter scent. Very long lasting, Aldebaran doesn’t bloom—it detonates. 🧨🌠 💣💥 This is not for the faint of heart and will only be loved by very specific people.

Beautiful. Indistinguishably Bisch. Take the raw, green and milky tuberose of Hiram Green’s Moon Bloom, tinged in the playdoughy almond of Dior Hypnotic Poison, and a soft touch of suntan lotioned suede a la Rabbane’s One Million Parfum, and voila! Longevity and projection are insane; I don’t know how he makes these beast-mode scents that are ever so persistent. The key of this one is to let it dry down. The initial blast is very green and somewhat astringent; but settles into a comforting milky suntan-lotion beachy tuberose. Bisch continues to perfect his recipe of success, yet seems too familiar to things he’s already produced for other perfume houses. It’d be extremely interesting to see him create something new and unique; he’s got what it takes.

This is a very nice aromatic smelling fragrance. I don’t think it leans feminine at all. I see similarities to Tilia for sure. This also lasts very long. (Easily 8 to 12 hours) I purchased this after a few wears of sampling it in the stores. What I noticed is that this fragrance smells much better and aromatic in the air, opposed to smelling it right off your skin (which most people tend to do) You must smell this a few inches away, (in the air) and if you do that, you are rewarded with a very unique very pleasant, aromatic fragrance. It gives off a mentholated tuberose airy scent. You will get wafts of this aromatic sent throughout the day.

I finally bought a bottle. This is a hall of fame perfume for me. This perfume can’t really be explained in words. You need to smell it yourself. By the way, if for whatever reason you happen to be visiting French lick in Indiana, there is a very famous hotel there (can’t remember the name right now). In one of the rooms on the first floor which is available to the public (it’s a meeting room or something, with a long table and many chairs), there is a smell being emmited from that room that is nearly identical to Aldebaran. I don’t know what is making it smell like this perfume, but please check it out

Ive got sample 2ml.. today my 2nd day wear it.. projection ok.. smell great kind of my smell.. it smell same indolic as my tuberose flower at my backyard. I guess tuberose in asia a bit difrend if we plant in europe.. i smelled tuberose in europe and cold conutry more fresh kind a green vibes .. but in asia especially malaysia tuberose more pungent indolic a little bit spicier.. but for longevity maison cravelli tubereuse astrale is winer. Aldebaran kinda Airy most like tilia style.. but dont get wrong it doesnt smell same with tilia not at all. For me aldebaran just nice i love it.. 💕

This is a cold, bright, neon green tuberose with the a bit of spicy paprika and coconut. An eternal summer in a bottle. Pretty and optimistic, in a strange, psychedelic kinda way. I don’t understand why this gets so much hate. It wasn’t an instant love for me, at first I wasn’t sure what I was smelling and I thought it’s just okay, but it really grew on me, especially when I let a friend try it and and noticed how insane this stuff actually smells in the air. If you like tuberose - then this is really special.

Easily one of my favourite perfumes right now. We had a rough start though, first time I smelled I hated it, but it grew on me and now I am obsessed. The tuberose with just a hint of paprika ( on me the tuberose is dominant) is a way to go. Almost eternal lasting and the sillage is huge, I do get compliments on it every time I wear it, even from people who stay meters away from me. Sometimes I do smell a little bit of a mouldy scent when I wear it, guess it is the mate in it. Love it though!

This is fantastic, not remotely bizarre or "polarizing" like some reviews are saying. Its a green, mentholated tuberose with some earthy and vegetal aspects overlaid on a creamy tonka base. There's no legible "twist" here, like "oh they took tuberose and added (xyz)", its just tuberose done in a new, cool way. Great performance and longevity without being obnoxious. Still pretty and classically floral despite being new and bold. If you don't like this you don't like tuberose!

Opening paprika balkan sauce tipical so strong but dry down you can feel that tuberose from Memo Marfa so unique strong not safe for blind buy like every of this brand is love or big hate ,headache inducing every fragrance from this house that’s why this house is unique but for me least niche house that l like for me even if every fragrance is really beast mode and worth every € but so hard for wearing at formal event or office or close environment you would choke people ✌️

I have a small sample of this and I have been testing it for days now.. Today I decided to wear TUBEREUSE ASTRALE by Maison Crivelli, but mid day I had a headache so I swabbed eucalyptus & camphor oil on my temple and my scent trail smelled like ALDEBARAN. I must agree with someone (I think @Lynn1994). The mate note smells a little eucalyptus-y. Still pondering if I should purchase, or just layer Tubereuse Astral and Eucalyptus-Camphor oil. Hahaha

How it took me from hate to love, from repulsion to obsession is genius. I have never experienced that before. I love this polarizing quality, I also love tuberose. This one is an alien, buttery, killer tuberose with a lot of texture and a lot of light. It opened my nose (and mind) to a new category of fragrances I didn’t even know existed and didn’t even know I liked, for that alone to me it’s a masterpiece I need to have in my collection.

Ganymede was my intro into this house. I’ve been sampling the rest and had yet to find one I don’t love. ❤️ I have a lot of of perfumes , a fairly large collection and what intrigues me is just how different this perfume house is.., My latest testing is this perfume, I easily get bored with the typical Tuberose perfume profile and this is just truly magnificent. A+++++ Update: it reminds me of Carnal Flower and Xerjoff Quattro Pizzi

This smells like root beer to me. I smelled this quickly over a month ago and I haven’t been able get this off my mind. I picked up a bottle today and this is so damn good. Not everyone is going to like this and think that is what is making me love it even more. Artistic, dark, and hypnotic. Forgive me for saying this, but I feel like is the very deep, very dark version of Blanche Bete. Love this and will cherish this.

Luxury smell of tuberose mixed with very detectable green notes . The spicey vibe from paprika is there too. This combo makes the scent a 100% banger , very extraordinary . This is for the niche lovers . Smells like master-perfumer creation . Quentin Bisch with his new gem ! Nothing ugly in this one , totally unisex . Long lasting with super sillage . Buy this one , believe me .

I am totally hooked and enchanted by this perfume. The point is not to compare it to Ganymede, it's in its own category. Aldebaran is tuberose, not too much, and coconut, mint. To me it also smells like mothballs. I wore it when it was colder outside, and even at 25C, it's great, I don't know how it will be at over 30C. Projects well, all day on me and things smell forever.

What the heck IS this stuff? I can see it being a love-or-hate frag. It immediately reminded me of the slightly minty taste of 1970s elementary school paste as well as the envelope adhesive I recall having to lick way too many times. Pretty wild to get that scent memory jogged. I'm going to need to spend some time with this one to allow my brain to make sense of it.

An immediate olfactory memory in the city streets of Colon Panama when I was growing up. Unsurprisingly, smells gorgeous on my skin and has a captivating nature about it when the tuberose falls back and the tonka is brought forward to create a beautiful Afro-Caribbean aura I can appreciate. Rose Carlisle from Love Hurts wears this.

Having gone through 2 bottles of SL Tubereuse Criminelle 15+ years ago, I don't find Aldebaran polarizing or weird at all. I used to love the camphorous/mothball facet of TC, but it faded way too soon and left me frustrated with its weak staying power. I wanted that opening to last forever. Aldebaran solves that problem. Love.

If a cyborg married an angel, this is what their baby would smell like. I normally hate tuberose because it pulls very pissy/poopy-like to me, but this is extremely creamy and airy. Almost lactonic?! There is a spicy green aspect to it that you can only smell up close. It’s just a very airy, whipped-cream tuberose in the air.

3 months ago I hated it, but I thought it was interesting (the weather was cold), A month later I thought it was just too much, a boring nose bomb. Today it's warm, the heatwave has hit and feel beautiful. I'm glad I had the patience for it. My beloved Valaya behaves exactly the opposite in the heat, it becomes disgusting.

“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain” — well, I racked up about a hundred violations of that commandment in just sixty seconds, after spraying a sample of Aldebaran on my wrist. Huge grin on my face and all. In a panic move, I grabbed my phone to order a full 100ml bottle immediately.

Tuberose with a side of extra camphor. Feels savory. For those who want a less sweet carnal flower. Perfectly unisex. Difficult but definitely overhated, smelling this with your bose against skin is too intense, you should smell it in the air.

The first thing I smelled was Pepto Bismol and up close this is the weirdest thing ever. But QB must be some kind of genius because ten minutes later, I smelled a masterpiece. Gorgeous floral held up by these odd notes. It works!

This Is a Better version of Blanche Bête, less almond and less sweetness (thank God!) The head notes are beautiful, the drydown Is very crowdpleasing. Also: Tilia with tuberose. Nice, but a 30ml. Would be enough.

What... what the hell am I smelling? Aluminum can and bathroom? Okay it’s dried down and... I’m addicted. It’s still weird as hell though. I can’t stop smelling it but it’s like so bad and good at the same time

I love this scent. I think you have to be patient with it and not overdo it. It took me a few wears to get addicted and start really appreciating it. It’s complex but opens up and dries down so beautifully.

Wow. Hot & spicy chilli tuberose. Smells like a super bougie muscle rub that contains capsaicin. Very unusual & I want it. Lasts eternally on clothes. This will layer great with my "Deep Heat" rub LOL.

So addictive! In the drydown, there is a deep similarity with Carnal Flower, a masterpiece by Frederic Malle (perfumer Dominique Ropion). Obviously, due to the clear presence of high-quality tuberose.

It is interesting how many people hate this perfume. I find it a very nice green, milky sweet, interesting tuberose perfume with a hint of soapiness (like inTilia).

This is one of the weirdest and most unique fragrances I stumbled across in the last decade. It is very addictive and the more I smell it, the more I like it.

Don’t be afraid of the opening! The drydown is a total shift to something beautiful, milky, wearable and intoxicating. I love, love this one.
