B683 Extrait

I might be a part of the minority, but this is my favourite of the brand, and i actually think this is a masterpiece, there are so much elements and stages within the juice, appearing little by little, at least on my skin. This is one of the best fragrances I've ever tried. But not from the opening, which is a bit déjà-vu for me, a fruity-spicy-oud combo made for Winter and Fall, with a slight ressemblance to Promise by Frédéric Malle, which is sweeter, bolder than the B683 extrait. The green apple is there. The oud too, not loud, animal or woody, but really tamed, in the background. The mid is where it's getting interesting, it's "blooming" a bit, getting airier and softer. I'm getting that saffron note more and more , slightly spicy, almost savory, with a touch of cumin and violet leaf in the mix. I detect no vanilla. The mid is beautiful and so much different than the opening, it smells comfortable, cozy but also really elegant, with a slight leather impression. The drydown is otherworldly, literally, this smells how I thought Ganymede would smell like and, seeing all the reviews of it, understand the link that these two have. It's once again so much different than the mid , and the opening, it smells like three different fragrances. As for the notes, I'm unable to tell what notes can cause that smell, the thing I get is really different from the notes' list , this is perfect for a hot summer or spring day. This is like a soft suede-leather, with a clean mineral/ozonic aspect, I can maybe detect the greenness of the apple, but it almost smells like pebbles, it is really cold and wet at the same time. This is how Space or some futuristic starship interior must smell like . I'm really amazed with that shapeshifting fragrance and this drydown which is one of the best I've ever tested.

Doing a long-overdue proper sampling of Marc-Antoine Barrois B683 Extrait, the follow up to the original B683 EDP, both of which remain available (the Extrait does not replace the EDP, in other words), which is great, since, while having some similarities, there are some notable differences. The EDP has all the makings of a modern take on a men’s signature scent, and I love it for that. The Extrait has a significant amount of shared DNA with the EDP, but the Extrait has a couple of aspects that are more accentuated. Overall it a slightly spicy, sweet, woody mix that feels like a cross between apple pie and leather, with notes of pepper, violet leaf, oud, vanilla, cumin, and green apple. And it’s specifically the aspects of leather and apple that are more prominent than in the EDP, which is a little milder and more of a fresh/spicy mix (still with pepper and other spices, but more so blended with woods). As expected, Extrait is denser and higher-performing than the EDP, and, in line with the notes, makes it a better fit for cooler weather and nighttime than the EDP, even though the EDP is almost perfectly versatile, itself. Overall, like the EDP, B683 Extrait is outstanding, combining modern sensibilities with something classic and grounded. It has the effect of being provocative and new while still having comforting attributes, and being highly useful, even if not quite the jack-of-all-trades that the EDP is. B683 Extrait is sold at various great boutiques like Perfumology and Luckyscent (I got my sample from Perfumology), and is available in a single bottle size, $330 for 50ml, to the EDP’s $210/115 for 100/30ml. 8 out of 10

My favourite was Encelade, followed by Ganymede, the OG never clicked with me, sold it bought the Extrai, never touched it, sold it, then a few days ago bought his new Tilia (Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous), so thought I'd give this another bash as could not remember even if I had smelled it, and now it tops the lot. All of his stuff is gorgeous (not tried Ganymede Extrait), but this one has something about it that truly stands out. I personally (even if I was able to afford it), could not carry this off as a signature scent, I'm sure some peeps can, but this scent can wear you if you're not careful. To me this one will be reserved for when my mood fancies it, and when I really am going somewhere and want to be THE one that stands out. Is this worth the high price tag? actually, yes it is. When you think you would pay the same ££ for a 100ml bottle of Aventus (if you so desire), you could plough through that in a few months IF that, so bang for buck, yes this costs twice the price of Creed's 100ml bottles, but if you're mingling with experienced noses, someone wearing Royal Oud or ViW, or Aventus or an Initio or Dior Privee, or an MFK is just going baa-baa (yes, I go baa-baa too, so don't take it as an insult :) ) this one says something else, and let the crowd that surround you read that as they will, whilst you enjoy the scent you're wearing :) Enjoy, and God bless :)

I first tried this in Les Senteurs in London and absolutely loved it. It was my favourite scent in the shop but out of my price range at the time... I've since gone back and purchased a bottle so time for a review. The apple note that is mentioned is very delicately blended and you would only notice that the smell is apple if you were told it was there... but once you know it's there it's delicious... not like a cheap apple DKNY but a sweet candied apple. Alongside the apple on the opening I get the oud which isn't animalic or overpowering, just right. After that I start getting the leather notes and the dry-down journey begins. This is a very unique and complex scent that has been pulled of marvellously. It is very strong, as the extrait suggests, but projects moderately after an hour or so. All in all my favourite fragrance in my collection and it has made me appreciate the more expensive side of niche perfumery... my second new love is The Night from Frederic Malle... super pricey but managed to get a 10ml for £110 on Ebay Update... working my way through many many niche fragrances and I've collected quite a lot now. This still smells like nothing else on the market and is truly immersive. Still the best bottle in my collection and that's saying a lot

This isn’t your average plume of perfume it’s a scent with a exemplary qualification in charm. Imagine this stumbling into a spice market wearing silk pyjamas (you know the type bougie) and sunglasses: so brash so bold in theory, but somehow it works. Every note is well-behaved, no showboating. This is haute parfumerie. It doesn’t smell like anything one would find in a department store clearance bin, unless that bin suddenly became sentient and developed impeccable taste. At this price, it’s Not a bargain. Think Brioni Sports jackets, in a Oxfam charity shop, with no moth holes (if you find one, let me know, I'm a size 38/40 chest) it's not going to happen though. Is it masculine? Maybe. But that’s like saying Black Coffee (No Sweeteners) or Whiskey/Scotch/Bourbon is masculine. Anyone can drink it some will just do it in heels, Today, these stereotypes are increasingly seen as antiquated (Note Many people enjoy fragrances based on personal taste rather than gender norms). One wearing this won’t blend in at the office unless the office is a candlelit bar serving Bourbon and scandal. This is a scent for when one wants to smell like trouble, but the well-dressed kind (think of me and that elusive Brioni Sports jacket).

Sotd: Marc-Antoine Barrois B683 Extrait (2020) - oud-patchouli leather - During my vacation in Mumbai, I stumbled across this perfume after smelling countless niche and independent perfume houses. Yet, this fragrance from #quentinbisch was a unique creation I kept on smelling again and again. True, this can be polarizing to some, but to those that enjoy what it offers, it is a technical delight and I applaud the thought and effort placed in creating this. Starts with a combination of Rose, Saffron and Violet leaf that gives a leather & fresh oceanic accord. Whiffs of crunchy fruit - tart not sweet invites the wearer to go on the journey. Dense accords of Oud, Sandalwood and Patchouli are present at its heart. I also get notes of smoke, metal and woods. Transitions using aromatic spices such as Cumin & Pink pepper are used in a supporting role creating both animalic and clean-fresh touches. At its drydown, a Vanilla oriental base is used, yet polished and refined. Transitions are so well-integrated with no notes standing out. Excellent balance. Persistent with an excellent sillage that leaves a signature trail. Bravo and made me decide to collect everything from this house.

Don’t need a review.. this is amazing. IMO winter version or stronger version of the OG and similar to Ganymede, but leather replaced by animalic oud and citrus by apple.. it’s a nice apple juice/ candy apple companied but saffron and cumin which makes it warm and the oud is the base so don’t expect a clean oud if you are not in the ouds. But it’s blended so well.. this smells luxurious and airy enough like Ganymede to wear it safe. It gives you the same vibe as Ganymede and the OG. Performance is good since it’s a extrait it’s amazing on fabrics and on skin it’s around 6/8 hours for me. But as I said 3 sprays on fabrics and stays for days! Again an amazing perfume by Marc antoine barrois.. not much scents, but this is a house you should give a try. Pricing is bit expensive but to be honest if you buy other oud scents like TF or initio they even don’t contain oud .. so with this you get some quality back for the money you pay instead of marketing. Definitely full bottle worthy if you are in to spicey oudy fragrances .. and as I said it’s still airy enough for everyone to like it.. BUT skip the first 1/2 minutes by not pushing your nose in to your skin.

The Chronicles of Kapow or The Ultimate FragranceBuyer’s Guide Until I Find a More Pompous Title: Entry Number 1 This is a weapon. It should be available only with specific accreditations after a long inquisitive process... or just forget about the rules and be who you are. It is devilishly sensual and enigmatic. Just enough to tease, like a trap. It is classy, animalic and artistic as the devil himself. It carries both, erotism and composure and it is evolving. The price tag will drive you crazy, but you will fall for it anyway. Resistance is futile, but you will smell nothing like a borg. It is a statement. It claims confidence and assertiveness. It suits for someone who has nothing to prove to anyone and who will just let the facts, his words, his charisma, his sensuality and his actions speak for himself. It is complex like poetry can be. You are touched by it or not. It does not owe you anything. It is by itself a statement about perfumery and I like the fact it does not even try to please the larger audience. It is a masterpiece, but it is not for everyone. In my book: A+ summa cum laude.

B683 Extrait explodes with a spicy, juicy burst of cumin, green apple and violet leaf. The opening has such addicting depth with this dry, fruity combination. As the heart begins to shine, pink pepper and patchouli become noticeable which compliment the previous notes beautifully. As this dries down the original B683 composure begins to shine - the safraleine, violet leaf and sandalwood are perfectly complimented by a dry, dusty oud which elevates the entire scent profile to something incredible. This is by far one of the strongest fragrances I have sampled and receives great reactions from those around you, the quality of ingredients is simply stunning. Overall this is a masterful expression of what perfumery should be. It’s bold, high quality and artistic, and beautifully builds upon the DNA of the original as an extrait flanker should. While the price unfortunately is very high, Quentin Bisch has really outdone himself with this release. Utter perfection.

Let me start off strong: I'm addicted to this. What I found most enchanting is the green apple - it's the most prominent note for me right now, of course heavily supported by patchouli/saffron combo. It's so bizarrely synthetic (?) I just can't get enough of it. It doesn't bring freshness, just pins down every heavy note in this perfume and kinda holds it under control. Genius. It's also monumental in performance. I still have the half bottle left even though I have it for more than a year. Overspraying this might not be very pleasurable to you or your surroundings, but if you dose it well, be sure your presence will be announced long before you enter the room. Suitable for winter months, you will warm up the room if you're wearing it. Long story short, this is a bomb, in the best way possible. It almost hurts to say it, but the price point here is ok for what you get.

Really like this fragrance a lot. The extrait. Not sure how to describe it (& am not good at discerning separate notes) but it’s got an addictive quality for me. When I put it on I usually instinctively say something to myself like: “man this is good” or some other praise. It’s probably not a massive crowd pleaser, but it has a personal resonance others don’t. Particularly good in the winter. When I first smelled it I liked it, but the real appreciation came after wearing it a number of times and I sort of grew into it. Already worried they will discontinue it for some reason, as that seems to happen with many I like. Plus (while I know some say otherwise), it’s a beast for me & lasts forever. Also like how it settles on clothes. It’s not a mainstream Duty Free type fragrance & doesn’t have that synthetic quality that so many have (imv). Worth checking it out. 👍🏾😄

What a fantastic fragrance ! My first time trying this house ( even though there are only 3 fragrances, including this one). To make it simple, its a somewhat smoky high quality smelling leather ( that is not listed but I get that vibe from OUD that is present here ), with a crisp and juicy green apple, but the apple isnt sweet. Cumin ( spice effect) is definitely present, and Vanilla is there to glue the leather ( from OUD ) and apple together, but its in the background just for that purpose. Its beautiful and unique in my opinion, just pricey. It lasts for a long time, and also its not beast mode but you can definitely smell it on you at all times. It smells expensive IG @VirginNose

At first I did not enjoy this fragrance during the initial spray. It smelled like RAID bug spray to me lol. After about 30+ minutes it starts to smells so good all the way to the dry down. The apple note last a long time and it smells fantastic. I personally don’t get much oud at all (maybe I am too used to strong oud fragrances). The performance is great! Doesn’t project as much as Ganymede but it last a very long time. Even after a shower I can still smell it on my skin. Crazy. Will be picking a full bottle. I give it a 4/5. Edit: after couple of wears I am going to give it a 4.8/5. I really love this fragrance. The lasting power and sillage is amazing.

The scent is beautiful, and I can easily relate to Diptyque Tempo's aroma with this perfume because of its common notes of violet leaf, pink pepper, and patchouli. It has a nice woody, earthy smell similar to vetiver, although vetiver is not present in it. The problem lies in its performance; it is very expensive for such a beautiful scent. I wouldn't spend my hard-earned money on a full bottle, but if I were to win the lottery, I would definitely buy it with that money. It's undoubtedly a luxury, but it's also very expensive. The projection and performance are rated 3/10, but the scent itself is an 8/10

This gives me Mad Max vibes. It is strong, hot. I love wearing it by a campfire, with a whiskey. Or with a psychedelic desert rock band, after a few hours, someone commented that I smelled very fresh. I myself felt like I was on fire. And that is it, the apple and oud combo is strong; some people smell a lot of apple, even after a few hours. I smell apple only at the beginning, then a lot of oud and leather. And I love it. Rock 'n roll

Quentin Bisch is a master perfumer, and I love the house of M.A.B. I own all offerings of this house. I prefer B683, b683 extrait, Ganymede and encelade, in this exact order. This is a very oud-dominant fragrance with a hint of cumin and leathery saffron. The opening has some apple in it—perfect all-season fragrance. Don't overstay it. It is a fragrance for mature noses. LOVE IT .

One of the few fragrances I own where 3 sprays is enough. This is massively piercing in cold and would quickly overwhelm in hot climates. There is something about it that keeps me sniffing it but if it was over sprayed it would be headache inducing. If you respect it, the subtle notes can be made out but go hard and it will wear you. Nice to know my 50ml will last forever.

I fell in love with how B683 Extrait smelled. I bought a fragrance from one boutique in Turin that I can’t remember the name of, and they gave this as a sample along with some others. It was the only scent that me and my family were all in awe oyt of those samples. Such a wonderful, opulent apple oud vanilla combo. Definitely would buy if it was not so expensive for 50ml

I didn't really like it. It came off like an accentuated version of the original with what I can only describe as a splash of Fruit Loops. Yes, the cereal. I know....weird. So, I'm going to come back to this in a few weeks and try it again. Often times, it takes a couple wearings before I can enjoy/appreciate a fragrance. For now, I much prefer its predecessor.

A small update: this contains real oud or at least the perfumer does know exactly how to work with oud! It starts fresh fruity, and dries down more warm, and after al the topnotes has gone, the basenote note is a poopy smelling oud.. it’s not bad at all in the air, just don’t smell it to close after 8 hours you will will be shocking haha..

It's so good. Ridiculously good. I got it as a sample in a subscription service; I go to snag a bottle and ouch. Maybe someday. I'll have to make this little 2 mL last. I'm not great at describing notes. What I can tell you is that this is what Wesley from the Princess Bride would wear, without a doubt.

The leathery DNA of B683 (Eau de Parfum) is there, but raised to a new level by fruity-spicy enrichment. With almost 40% of Pafum oil, it is a real extrait. The apple, in combination with violet leaf, cumin and patchouli coeur, does well. Modern, plush and stylish!

Starts off with a fresh ozonic green apple rubbed with cumin then dries to a saffron-leather-patchouli with a touch of smoke from the oud. Takes the original in a dark masculine direction. In the MAB line, this is the king and B683 and Ganymede are the princes.

B683 massively amped up I am a huge fan of B863 and Ganymede Ganymede especially is a masterpiece and one of my best purchases of 2020 B683, though gorgeous, was a bit weak in terms of longevity This is fixed with the extrait! It is now a beast

A real favorite for me. The fruity notes of apple and animalic oud are excellent. The quality of the ingredients is felt. It's a fragrance that lasts throughout the day. Plus, it's truly signature, just like Bisch's Ganymede. 10 of 10

I was about ready to get a bottle of B683 but decided to get the discovery set. Now I've tried this I'm re-evaluating what I want and now hate myself that I have expensive tastes. This smells godly.

This is what B863 should have been :-) B683 is amazing but longevity is an issue (Ganymede is still the main star IMO btw) This one is so much more potent Very well done! Love it!

Animalic Oud with sparkling apple and saffron, Violet leaf in the background this is a unique 10/10 masterpiece and in my opinion one of the best fragrances ever created.

In my search for the best vanilla gourmand, I stopped to sample hype beast Ganymede and this guy along with it. Opens with a powerful blast of earthy, woody oud lifted by lighter notes of green apple, violet leaves, and spices. The safraleine adds a hint of smooth suede, while the apple and vanilla add a touch of sweetness. I would consider this a lighter and more pleasant take on Oud for Greatness, while smelling less synthetic and more rounded than Oud Wood. Woody and leathery but well-balanced by the lighter notes. Gets just a smidge sweeter and more leathery as it dries down. I'm not one who typically enjoys this type of scent, but I like it a lot. My personal tastes aside, I think this is excellent fragrance and the performance is insane too. I first accidentally sprayed this on myself when I was trying to reapply my sample of Ganymede. My mother through a wall on the opposite side of the house immediately asked me what the heck I was spraying. This stuff is STRONG, among the best I've ever sampled. Nuclear projection for 4-5hr, longevity 10-12hr.

When I first tried this fragrance, cumin like note completely overwhelmed me; I almost threw it away. Revisiting it now, though, I find myself enjoying it: the tart apple and saffron duo works beautifully, and the oud feels well-balanced. The leather is just right, noticeable but not dominant. The metallic edge that hit me at first slowly softens toward the heart, warming as it goes. A subtle human warmth; slightly dirty, slightly animalic... It feels like wearing someone else’s jacket: familiar, intimate, protective. Its boldness falters a little when that sour-to-sweet apple takes center stage, but it regains strength in the drydown where the oud deepens again. Vanilla is almost imperceptible; which is good, because any stronger presence would have made it banal. This sample was gifted to me; I haven’t tried the non-extrait version yet. testé depuis un échantillon il s’agit du b683 EDP plus musclé(un peu plus orientale) , je reçois de la pomme en ouverture , dix minutes après une petite note de oud qui ne dure pas longtemps et tout le reste du séchage je recevez du cuir moderne le tout est bien mélangé avec des ingrédients de haute qualité ça dure très longtemps avec une très bonne projection pendant les trois ou quatre premières heures j’ai reçu deux compliments de personnes inconnue en une soirée je compte acheter ce bijoux car je suis très fan du cuir j’espère juste que je trouverai le même jus que j’ai testé dans le petit flacon doré car j’ai vécu une mauvaise expérience avec le b683 EDP testé un échantillon que j’ai trouvé plus fort et plus raffiné que le flacon original acheté juste après (échantillon>flacon original en thermes d’odeur et performances)

In B683 Extrait, the saffron note is the same plasticky note in Ganymede, which over time does calm down into being more spicy and closer to the real thing. There is this almost caramel sweetness in the fragrance, not like the candy, but more like a whiskey caramel note. The oud is very woody and smoky, which when mixed with the whiskey caramel and apple note makes me imagine a freshly opened cask of whiskey. The smokiness reminding me a little of peated whiskeys like Laphroaig, and the apple giving impressions similar to Glenfiddich. There is no fecal nuances to the oud, but there might be some slight musky undertones. Of course that could be some unlisted musks working with my skin. I'm not normally a fan of Quentin Bisch's work, but this is something I really enjoy and would recommend others sample to see if they like it.

Oh my gosh, among the three this is the nuclear one. Oud torpedoed my nose on the first salvo. I can’t speak ... words won’t come out of my mouth. Doesn’t mean I hate it because Ganymede occupies the top spot in my collection but I’ll give it more time. ;) To be continued... “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. I enjoy this, though not as much as the EDP. Much of the same chord as the EDP (and of Bisch's other modern leathers), but the leather is amped up and made more dense, as is fruity top note combo of what feels like apple and then plummy/rosey/winey beta-damascone. This is quite lovely, but it doesn't blend with the skin the way the EDP does. Quite literally--there is always a slightly oily slick left behind when I apply the extrait!

The opening reminds me of my grandmas Dutch apple cake. The apple is fresh, green and ultra realistic but mixed with the cumin, it does give me that Christmas spice vibe (which I’m so over now). The smoke comes through next with leather (I get leather) and it becomes a rich and chewy delight that’s very long lasting. Great if you like sultry, dark and multifaceted warm spicy scents.

I love the juxtaposition of the crisp apple note (one of the best I’ve encountered in perfumes) with the dark oud and saffron. My only issue is its overly synthetic character, which starts to irritate my nostrils after a while. And although it is an improvement over the original, the differences don’t really justify the existence of this version, just like Ganymede extrait.

Apple, oud and cumin are the strongest ones in this one. Overall a nice perfume, woodsy, airy, but the oud is very present and so is the cumin so as sophisticated as these notes are in here, you really have to love them to enjoy this. Quite fruity overall and the cumin and pepper give it a spicy vibe. Complex scent, a lot of oomph, unique, high staying power.

b683 extrait is nuclear, never had a scent with that much longevity. My whole closet smells like it for over a month, even tho i use it only for special occasions. You doesnt wear it, it wears you. Scent wise its okayish. As my friend said thats how he imagines billionaires to smell even tho he didnt see the price tag (thankfully)

Gorgeous fruity leathery spicy gourmand. Very well lasting, I couldn't make out the apple at first but now that I see the notes it's such a crisp clear apple. Very emotive scent, floral, fruity, spicy and leathery, but somehow manages to pull off being fresh too. ** let's swap niche samples! UK only - pm me! **

Interstellar liquid codeine. Sticky sweet, viscous, and opulent. Promiscuous, and pushes the envelope for modern evening scents. Not easily wearable, but I cant deny the quality. 8/10

A dirty green apple fragrance, the Oud and saffron sit noticeably in the background. The scent is a 7/10 and this is not a fragrance that I would recommend checking out.

As someone who really loves Ganymede, I was surprised when I tried this because I get a very similar vibe. It feels like a slightly softened version of Ganymede.

totally distinct, but the closest parallel to encelade. smoky dirty leather oud paired with a green apple sweet tart with vanillic undertones

Okay, this stuff is amazing but I don't like it much on me. I keep trying to get my nose used to all the fragrances from this house but try as I might, I just can't do it. I'm not sure what it is that turns me off but that said, this IS amazing. The projection and longevity are through the roof. If that's what is most important to you, give it a shot and you will not be disappointed. I decided to give this another try as my scent of the night yesterday and it's now 16 hours after I first sprayed it and I'm easily still catching wafts of it. Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean that you won't too. Try it out and you may fall in love. I don't hate it. It's not a scrubber for me but there is something about it that just doesn't work for me. It is still a masterpiece fragrance, though. Wish I could get into it more so I could love it as much as others seem to because there's no denying the quality of it.

A fascinating, quite complex modern masculine, with curious herbal/aromatic and tangy fruit notes, creating a big, tart, somewhat oldschool leather. It smells very grand, very natural and very expensive; this is a scent that will "wear YOU" other than you wearing IT. I would like to like it more than I actually do; for me it is just too big, grand and baroque a scent, with a rock-solid, unmistakeably identifiable profile, making it-- as we say here on F'ica-- "difficult to wear". Little whiffs of it come up all day long, and frankly, they feel intrusive... the scent never blends with or settles into your skin... it just sits there and SCREAMS. Till you wash it off. I much prefer Barrois GANYMEDE, which I wear almost every day these days.

On first spray, this is reminding me a lot of Pardon from Nasomatto. It's got that really classy and cool Patchouli smell. The main difference is that Pardon is warmer, sweeter and smoky. B683 Extrait has a way more green profile. After it drys down, it gets slightly sweeter with the vanilla and sandal wood coming out. In the further dry down, it goes back to being green, gets a little sharper and has a nice oak moss vibe to it. Really nice classy perfume with great projection and longevity. Worth trying for anyone who likes a deeper green earthy patchouli perfumes.

Starts out strong, crisp apple and violet, then skanks out into atomic bomb territory. Smells like a gust of wind from Chernobyl. Gnarly, sweet leather bomb. Hard pass.

I love B683 EDP. The extrait, however, is weirding me out. There is this note in the base that smells food-y. I really can't explain it but it's nasty. It honestly makes me feel like I'm going to throw up
