Brume d'Hiver

This is a beautiful fragrance because of its subtlety. It is soft and feminine yet at the same time is very modern in regards to the iris. This smells nothing like Chanel. The complete opposite in fact. It's a young, creamy and sweet wood that gets better as the hours pass by. I wanna put this fragrance in the same category as Le Labo or Byredo but a little more refined. It is not experimental. It is sexy and sweet in the most unique way possible. Unconventional. I am going to purchase a full bottle.

A traditional wood but with a beautiful powderiness to it which I’ve noticed before in other Marie Jeanne sandalwood perfumes. It dries increasingly lighter and happier after the rather brutish, moody opening. A blend of familiar woods and not much more, the ylang ylang very faint just softening things slightly rather than present in its own right. The Marie Jeanne house style is direct with strong use of naturals. The perfumes I’ve smelled all have a traditional feel. Maybe the blending isn’t so interesting — these types of scents have been done before — but the quality of the ingredients is the Marie Jeanne differentiator. Its traditional vibe marks out Brume d’Hiver as almost patrician-level masculine. It smells as solid and reliable as an armoire or an old oak wardrobe. It’s also super clean but I think that’s down to the cedar rather than any musk lurking. I’d love to smell this on a woman, to mix things up a bit. The deep sandalwood could work really well. There's something so reassuring about Brume d’Hiver that I’m a little bit in love with it, though it’s not remotely my sort of thing.
