Pheromone

My love affair with "Pheromone" goes back to 1990. I was an au-pair then in Miami and I received this fragrance as a birthday gift from a good friend of mine who was working as a flight attendant for Pan Am. She once told me, that on one of her flights back from Europe another flight attendant was wearing this fragrance and got tons of compliments and (indecent) proposals from male passengers while serving the first class..... I was so intrigued by this story that I wanted to get this fragrance so bad...but back then I did not have the money to buy it myself....so luckily, I received my first bottle as a gift :-) I was hocked from the first sniff and it became my all-time favourite for almost 18 years! For me it is one of the most unusual fragrances out there. (True, the story behind "Pheromone" how it was discovered in Egypt etc. etc. is truly fascinating and a PR masterpiece). When I smell the fragrance now, I get the "green" in it....back then, I did not somehow...all I got was the exotic spices and the warm, mystic notes. Thanks to "Pheromone" I started to appreciate the greener fragrances...like "Mitsouko " which this fragrance reminds me a bit, but "Pheromone" is not quite a "Chypre". I believe the magic of this fragrance is in the body chemistry! I know, "Pheromone" was extremely popular since it was released, but I think not everybody was wearing it well.... The beauty of this fragrance reveals itself only if applied with a very light hand. Too much of it and you will run for cover! So, it is no surprise to me, that it got the reputation of a major "stinker" but with any fine things in life....less is often more! Now and then, I wear "Pheromone"...I consider it a classic and therefore is not dated or old smelling. It is (still) a very unusual fragrance to this day - You will get noticed when you wear this gem....it is not for the shy and wallflowers out there.....you will need to wear it with an attitude of an Egyptian queen!

I've heard some people dislike some perfume when they first smell it and then come back to it and they fall in love with that scent...I've never experienced that until now. I got a great deal last summer on ebay and bought a vintage Pheromone by Marilyn Miglin, an eau de Parfum. When I got it I kinda liked it but I didn't love it, and I even liked it so little that I've propably only sprayed it like three times after the first spray. But today I tried it on and fell in love. ( The official notes are as follows Top notes:Bergamot, Leafy Greens, Orange Flower Mid notes:Jasmine, Geranium, Iris, Cassis Absolute Base notes:Sandalwood, Oakmoss and Vanilla Absolute ) ...not quite what was listed here in fragrantica but leafy greens include palm leaves, mint etc) The scent opens with a huge green leafy bomb, maybe a little bit aldehydic even. The sillage fills the room. Palm leaves are there for at least 30 minutes. As the scent warms on the skin it gets muskier, more flowery and woody. High quality jasmine is noticable. The basenote part is just the most amazing and my favourite part of the whole show. There is definitely some hardcore oakmoss which has been there the whole time. There's fabulous "vintage" Vanilla-Sandalwood combo among the oakmoss. Maybe even some civet? This drydown reminds me of Chanel no 5!

Dense, moody Aromatic/Green/Chypre. "Biblical" aromatic notes (picture Moses and the Pharaoh's daughters in the bulrushes) lead you into a marshy world of sullen, bruised florals and sodden, dark-green essences that remind one of a Louisiana bayou at twilight, or a hidden Florida salt marsh. Atop a powerful, nigh-indelible mossy chypre base. A fragrance Marie Laveau or Nefertiti would've prized. I think PHER'OMONE is a daring perfumer's masterpiece. It smells like nothing you know of. It is a love-it-or-hate-it number. It smells Yin... concave, recessed. Instead of projecting outward, it seems to be curved inward, if that makes sense. It smells like a real flesh-and-blood woman who has just shampooed her long hair and stepped out of the shower. Her body soaking wet, steamy warm and clean yet still offering hints of the smell of woman. Yin. Moody, sophisticated, mature, evocative. Not for young girls, cheerleaders, ingenues or sorority sisters. I agree with another writer who said that it smells Texan... haha.... like a Lynn Sakowitz Wyatt type: staggeringly, unfathomably rich and expensively turned out from head-to-toe... 80's helmet-hair and padded Dynasty shoulders, but with an oldschool working-class Texan accent you can cut with a knife.

This has been my signature scent since the early '90s and I have never fallen out of love with it. Living in Chicago, Marilyn signed purchases for me on the spot at Marshall Field's on at least two different occasions. I got to speak with her about when she was a dancer and she asked about my career. She has beautiful etiquette and is just a lovely person. I will never stop loving Pheromone. I adore the well-blended complexity of this fragrance, but definitely pull out the lotus, palm, and spices. The dry down is heaven. I've never received more compliments on a fragrance, although I wear it solely for my own enjoyment. Here's a tip for those of you who feel you need to buy vintage: You needn't. You can purchase the perfume or the perfume oil. Both are glorious and smooth, and haven't changed over the years. And you can order directly from Miglin's website, by phone, or stop in the boutique on Oak Street (yes, that's the luxurious Gold Coast) in Chicago.

This fragrance has become a staple in my collection since the very first time my date and "future" husband smelled it on me and found it simply irresistible, I was 22 yrs old then. I strongly believe that body chemistry and personality affect how a fragrance will tell its story on our skin rather than age. A truly beautiful fragrance is ageless! Pheromone is so unique ... I have not encountered a fragrance quite like it. This exudes luxury and sophistication and I am so happy that I discovered it in the midst of other common and generic scents that surround us. It is not for the weak, the initial spray comes out strong and spicy but then it dries down to an ethereal yet profound woodsy and floral notes blended so well that it's so hard to describe it other than ... infinitely provocative to the senses.

If I didn't know any better I'd think I was wearing Wind Song by Prince Matchabelli. Oddly enough, the notes don't really match at all but I had to come on this site to jog my memory of exactly which scent this reminds me so much of. Pheromone has that same beautiful mix of cool and crisp yet spicy. Others say it reminds them of Charlie. I must disagree. Charlie (from my memory, as it's been years since we last met) is rather aggressive. I don't get that from Pheromone. She is much more subtle and seductive. I'd never put Charlie and Pheromone together in my mind. If you enjoy Wind Song it is almost certain that you will also enjoy Pheromone. Absolutely gorgeous! Easily a 3-season scent, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Most definitely a love for me.

My mother-in-law, a beautiful Egyptian woman who smelled as wonderfully exotic as she behaved, was the inspiration behind my discovery of Pheromone. I went to the perfume counter of my local department store seeking a scent that was both earthy and ethereal. The sales associate suggested Pheromone - emphasizing the richness of its gold flakes. Honestly, that was not a great selling point to me. I agree that it has a "soapy" quality; but I prefer to call it fresh-scrubbed. It manages to be both intense and light, spicy and green, warm and sharp all at the same time. I have tried many perfumes since the early 80's when I bought my first bottle of Pheromone, but it always remains my "signature" and favorite.

Pheromone is so complex and carefully balanced. It's hard to describe because it seems to contain every note ever created, but none are distinguishable as singular entities. On me, pheromone is a very soft skin scent, reminiscent of a lovely dry-down of your favorite fragrance. The scent remains pretty consistent throughout the day. On others, it seems to be strong and seductive. Not my experience at all (in a good way). Pheromone has served me as a gateway perfume. Without having worn it, I would not have given a chance to anything powdery or oriental. It has really helped ease me into appreciating various notes and types of fragrance.

Truly unique. As always, notes have been described to perfection, and so there is nothing to add in that. I must say that this is one that was a blind buy- a set deal from QVC and of course it sounded divine. I waited for over a week to get it, nervous that I bought FRAGRANCE from QVC, of all places (I usually just buy outright, rather than add the pain of flex-pay, LOL!) I got it, opened it, inhaling an exquisite aroma, my eyes no doubt closed, and depressed the spray cap. And it broke off the bottle. Excellent scent, still. Bottle 2/10 Juice 7/10 Projection 7/10

I'm surprised by the comparison to Charlie, I don't smell that. I'd agree with Ma Griffe. This is much greener than I expected, a bit like Vent Vert, but most of all like Lauder Private Collection without the honeyed scent of lindenflower. There, chrysanthemum offers the spice accord you see in Pheromone. Edit: my vintage Charlie DOES smell a lot like Pheromone. Both very nice. My new Charlie smells like Halston. All similar anyway though. Private Collection is greenest, then Pheromone, Charlie, and Halston. Love this style, but you have to be in the mood.

Boozy, kerosine, politically radical opening that gradually parts a vodka curtain revealing an obvious tribute to Bernard Chant's particular take on the chypre, gradually revealing an aldehydic powderiness and a luxurious aromatic astringency. Beautiful, unisex balancing of florals and mossy woodsiness. Just a bit animalic. Just a bit indolic. Delicate but earthy. Really remarkable. Love it. Love the way the vodka lingers. Love the playful send-up to Chant, intended or not. Really, really incredible.

Vintage Pheromone edp is green floral chypre with the depth and sophistication of the genre. It begins with a green herbal blast that smells reminiscent of the spearmint note in Herba Fresca. The heart is a lovely symphonic floral that slowly moves into the slightly animalic oakmoss/resinous base. There is no sweetness. There is a warmth and depth that one rarely finds in modern perfumery. Pheromone is not shocking or daring. It is a beautifully done perfume appropriate for most occasions.

Vintage review: I personally love how this smells like a straight-up forest. It's a little smoky, a little spicy, a little soapy but it just smells so classy. It was never expensive or super glamorous, they just blended it to perfection, so it smells expensive. I smell cinnamon and clove and a ton of musk on the drydown. As strong as it is, it's quite easy to wear. In the summer just spray very lightly.

I have a huge bottle I bought on HSN, about 20 years ago. I used it a little bit then, but it wasn't one of my favorites. I was thinking about it today, and decided to give it another try. It is really lovely. I like it a lot now. I guess I just needed to be more mature to really appreciate it. I agree with those who say "less is more". This isn't something you spray a lot on.

I was introduced to Pheromone in the 80’s when I worked in cosmetics and it was one of the fragrances at my counter. I fell in love with it and the Fluid Gold. I don’t wear it often as I like to save for special sexy time on Summer evenings... Unique, beast mode, one spritz in my cleavage is all it takes!

I actually love this. As Trinity states,less IS more. One tiny spray on the abdomen will do. Maybe it's not a good simile,but, Pheromone is like garlic. One crushed clove can make your entire dish. Take a big bite out of an entire bulb (like an apple) and you and all around will be sorry

This is so very beautiful! What a wonderful thing! If you have not tried this you really should it is so different and well made!! I would say that you can smell all of the spices and such that is in this. I just can't stop smelling my own wrist! I keep saying mmmm!

Wow, this is lovely. Lots of oakmoss in the opening then spices. I can smell the cinnamon radiating and a little minty tingle on the skin then some woods, floral notes and a soapy vibe. This reminds me of vintage florientals without the carnation.

Just a quick observation: The dark-green vintage Bath and Body Oil (a.k.a. Sacred Oil of Phéromone) smells very similar to Jannat El Firdaus by Swiss Arabian.

Pheromone EDP In honor of the late, great Marilyn Miglin (who passed away last month, March 2022), I am doing what I should have done a long time ago and reviewing a few from among my large MM fragrance collection. Ms. Miglin wasn’t a run-of-the-mill peddler of perfumes; I believe she was a genuine scent-obsessed fragrance enthusiast like we regulars here on Fragrantica. Pheromone, of course, is Miglin’s opus majus—or at least her most famous work. I have had a “vintage” Pheromone splash EDP for a good 10 years (don’t know what the seller’s parameters for “vintage” were) and I also have a spray EDP, likely of more recent production, but I don’t know by how much. The vintage EDP has far more projection despite being a splash and is a tad rounder and fuller, almost “nuttier” than the drier spray EDP. This nuttiness—the same effect I get from “vintage” Estee Lauder Private Collection; perhaps it’s vintage vetiver in the bases?—is in both versions in varying degrees and is what sets apart Pheromone from the much sharper, more astringent chypres I prefer (Clinique Aromatics Elixir, Lancome Magie Noire, Jean-Louis Scherrer by Jean-Louis Scherrer, etc.). In fact, comparing vintage EL Private Collection and the vintage Pheromone splash EDP, I would say they are similar enough that a fragrance-lover who merely wants a member of the 70s chypres category and already has one does not need to acquire the other. Now, if you are a chypre fanatic like me, who affectionately knows and loves the small differences among the chypres of the 1960s, 70s and 80s, yes, by all means add Pheromone to your stable of classics; it is not nearly as assertive as EL P.C. and fills an important role as “understated, subtle chypre.” During the blessed ritual of choosing a fragrance of the day, I frequently and intentionally bypass Pheromone and EL Private Collection. This is because of that nutty, rounded chord both strike; I crave a more piercing, higher-pitched edge, especially to slice through humid, muggy climates. However, this reason I often brush past Pheromone may be the same thing that tempts you to try it. Also, the more recent spray EDP is definitely soapier and less rounded than the vintage dabber, so I can default to the former on the occasions I want a more mellow chypre experience (even that more recent, lighter version is still softer around the edges than some of the other classic chypres I named). Of course, as a late 70s chypre, Pheromone is still gloriously dry, and in 2022 in a room full of perfume-wearers will certainly still stand out from the flood of post-2000 dessert-centric gourmands, ultra-fruity florals and sweet fruitchoulis, and balmy ambers and orientals. But unlike its close cousin-chypres, Pheromone will not demand the attention of passersby; its lower pitch means people around you—who are unlikely to be rabid 70s chypres fans— won’t perceive it as an assault on their olfactory nerves. Today in full spring, the sun is shining, and where it shines on Pheromone-anointed skin, it releases the wholesome, dry, nutty, earthy clean scent that is a true field of wildflowers, roots and stems (I’ve never smelled sweet, rosy or “floral”-scented wildflowers, have you?) This spring in the northern hemisphere—or in any season around the world, for classic chypres are always expertly and triumphantly seasonless—bask in Pheromone’s murmured earthiness and give thanks for Marilyn Miglin’s venerable career in fragrance. RIP, grand woman and fellow fragrance-enthusiast.

Pheromone will either be your thing right away, or it won't be your thing at all. I got lucky swapping for it unsniffed, but most folks will want to test this one before purchase. It hails from my favorite era of perfumery and one of my favorite categories: late 1970's bitter green florals. According to Marilyn Miglin's website, it boasts a complex formula of "179 rare and costly essences." In spite of its name, the website does not indicate that the scent contains any real or synthetic human attraction pheromone. I guess it's the lovely scent itself that is supposed to do the attracting. :-) There is no sweetness here, not even in the myriad of floral notes. I find a lot of green grass stems, unusual spices and a heavy dose of myrrh, which renders a powder-y quality to the green notes over time. The fragrance I find most similar to this one is Patou's Joy. It's not a smell-alike, but both are powerhouses with a similar quality of ingredients and a touch of something animalic in the base. With Pheromone, you'll need just a spritz or two (and no more) to last all day. Definitely worth a try for chypre, green floral and "bitter" fragrance fans.

My mom bought this for me in a set from Home Shopping Network and this is my first experience with Marilyn Miglin. When I first smelled it in the bottle I thought that it was perhaps a little too strong for my taste (I like light and airy perfumes), but I have to say that after wearing it a while I have to say there is something very pleasant and comforting about it. It starts off strong but has a very soapy and spicy dry down on me. I was afraid with the Vodka note I might smell like an alcoholic or something but I don't notice anything in particular about that note. I would think this would be a nice comforting wintertime fragrance. I don't find it to be particularly overpowering either, but I do have the perfume sample that you dab on instead of the spray. Anyway, it is different but I can't seem to quit smelling my wrist so it has a seductive quality to it I think. EDIT: My mom loved this one and took it as her sig fragrance. It smells really good on her, so I don't think I will use. If you think Pheremone is too strong then you should try Pheremone Breeze. It's really nice and light for summer.

I'm commenting on the vintage version of Pheremone, not the reformulated version. i wore this in the 80s and remember that there was something about it that i loved. i'm not a green scent lover and i definitely don't love flowers so the first 30 minutes of this, i feel like i'm tolerating just for the dry down. And then the magic comes but for me, i can't find any of the notes mentioned b/c it's just so damn strong in the beginning, but at the end I know exactly what it is. It's egyptian musk. That's what it is with some sandalwood and vanillaish patchouli. I'm torn between whether I love or hate musk, I know that some people smell urine in musk. I think I'm on the verge of being that person but am oddly attracted to musk nevertheless but have never been able to wear it, except in this number. I just have to tolerate the first thirty minutes of serious strength to find the beauty. A little goes A LONG way. PS if you want to find the beauty sooner, mix on your skin with a little water and it goes straight to dry down.

I bought a "Lot" on Ebay (It had a bottle of Poison" that I wanted and it came with Brasil and Pheromone) I had decided before I tried it that I would put it with a "Lot" that I was getting ready to sell. That should be the end of the story but...I tried it on and I like it well enough to keep it around for awhile.For me the opening is powdery but not overwhelmingly so-I can't handle strong powdery scents. They literally take my breath and I end up using my inhaler. Ther is a sweetness here probably Jasmine and very light wood-compared to SheWood it is barely there. All in all it is pleasant and likeable. I think this is light enough to wear to the office or even to church without disturbing anyone but I do apply it with a light touch. I think if I were to get heavy handed with this I might not like it. It is true to its decade in that way. I find that most perfumes developed in the late 70's and 80's can be off putting when you use a heavy hand.

Today a 1.7 oz flacon of P. edp arrived. I got it fairly cheap on Fleabay, and the fragrance wasn't what I'd expected. P. opens with strong woody/green notes, the oakmoss in particular carries a real punch. I haven't noticed any floral notes yet, unless they're smoothing out the woods and greens. There's a tiny bit of soapiness in P., reminding me of expensive spice/hay soaps fancy department stores used to carry. Are those still available? Sillage and lasting power appear to be good, they may be very good but I've only worn P. for about 2 hrs. Oh, and the fragrance is completely unisex, in fact it's rather masculine. Not a problem IMHO, I'll wear it if I like it. (Update: sillage/lasting power are not enormous, just good. Two to four hours tops.) My flacon has the rounded gold top and frosted glass, I'm not sure if the perfume is vintage. Oakmoss can be a difficult note, and it remains to be seem if P. will become a favorite. Time will tell.

First off, this was a total blind buy. I had no idea what to expect nor did I know anything about Miglin's perfumes. This is certainly a blast from the past! Lover's of Mitsouko, Obsession, Knowing and other perfumes of the like, should try this if you haven't. The opening is green and while I didn't find it harsh, it's a little unusual. Then, it hits a powdery patch midway but it doesn't last long. After that, it starts warming up to a very nice woodsy aroma. Very unique and intriguing! I find this to be a fairly long lasting scent on me; 6+ hours later and it's still going strong. As for the name "Pheromone", I'm not sure why it's named that as I'm pretty certain it has no actual pheromones in it. It's just a lovely scent; you chypre lovers out there give it a shot!

I've been a faithful wearer of Pheromone for over 20 years. This is the most unique scent I've ever worn. I smell cinnamon! It is has a very powdery dry-down. My husband admits that this is the only perfume in my collection (which isn't that big, yet) that he can detect straight away, he LOVES it. If you want something totally unique that you won't smell on anyone else, give Pheromone a try. You'll grow to love it. One spritz is all you need, it lasts forever! Be careful as you'll find others either love it or hate it. You'll LOVE IT! I also recommend the soap and powder, the "Fluid Gold" is lovely, it has a golden glitter which is best on tanned skin. LOVELY INDEED!

I like this fragrance - though I do not love it - and probably wouldn't wear it again. I was sucked in by the history of MM and just years gone by. This perfume does smell like something my grandmother would have worn back when she wore perfume. She was classy - the chanel no5 wearing type (she still has a giagantic almost empty but ancient bottle on her dresser). This falls in line there somewhere - it isn't me but it's nostalgic and I appreciate it on that account. I wouldn't consider it an "old lady" scent, but it is definitely a dated scent that would make you turn your head did you come across someone wearing it now.

I put this on and immediately thought of my mom, and the stuff she used to wear when i was a kid. It was very soapy and old-fashioned aroma at first bite, strongish, and a little tingly to the nose. But I gave it a chance to develop, and I'm glad I did. After a couple hours this mellowed into a soft, spicy, comforting experience, leaving me with a feeling of uplifted tranquility. Its not your typical fragrance, and it's probably not for everybody, but there is totally something special about it. And my toddler loves it, so that's saying something about its wear-ability.

First time I've ever tried this one and I must say that it is definitely unique, it's like nothing I've tried before and I have tried so many. To me it smells elegant but be very careful not to overspray as it has the tendency to overwhelm, I must say that a single spray will suffice. It lasts over 10 hours and the scent lingers on the wearer beautifully. It is hard to describe the scent, it is rich and luxurious like a golden, silk shawl. The more I smell it, the more I am falling for it. A commanding spicy, floral scent not for the timid.

Pheromone was the first big bold perfume I ever wore, to a fancy 1982 Holiday Season cocktail party, all very tuxedos and black velvet. Pheromone is intense, especially if using the perfume oil. It is the same today. Pheromone is a bold, self-confident lady. Do not overspray or overapply. She will smack you in the face with her patchouli drydown if you do. It remains a "strong like" for me. Because of its sillage and longevity, I would call this a Beast and definitely an evening fragrance. As @dawnyerb said, this is a gem!

I agree with the reviewer who compared this scent to Norell. It has that same carnation - laden vibe! A kind and generous Fragrantica FRIEND sent me a bottle identical to the one shown above. I believe it to be a fairly recent formulation, even though I've never smelled the original to compare. What a fresh and appealing fragrance... I for one consider green and soapy scents to be highly attractive, albeit in a squeaky - clean fashion! Highly recommended to soap lovers everywhere. :)

Pheromone is a very feminine and unique scent. It reminds me of the scents I always smell when there is a room full of women at work. I think you can wear this any time of day and it goes with every occasion. Marilyn Miglin is one of my favorite fragrance designers. The very best of hers has to be Destiny. I am so disappointed that I cannot find it here on Fragrantica. Destiny is the softest,most beautiful scents---I would say it is my signature scent. I cannot live without Destiny!

It certainly smells expensive, and you can even tell that the ingredients are high quality. I bought this based on the origin of it, and wasn't surprised. It has an ancient quality to it. I wanted to appreciate this fragrance more, but it's just not my favorite cup of tea. However, if you want a long lasting fragrance, this is it... I still smelled it on myself after a shower, and it was kind of nice.

This has been on my wish list for a while and I finally purchased a bottle. I love chypres, especially those from the 70's. This will fit in nicely with my collection. It is beautiful. The opening is green with some minty sweetness. The floral heart includes notes of jasmine and iris. The dry down is soft mossy woods. So pretty. Great performance too.

I wore this once and the man i have loved for over 33 years noticed it and liked it. He never mentioned any other fragrance before or since. For that reason alone I will always have a bottle.

I expected something with a name like “Pheromone” to: a) have little or no detectable “perfume” smell or, b) smell like civet and/or some variety of musk or, c) be bizarre in some interesting way. MM Pheromone is none of these things. In fact, it’s a standard 80s type “big floral”, sort of as if someone mixed Joy and Giorgio together and ended up with the worst of both. Someone else observed a similarity to Hermes 24 Faubourg, which I accept, but Pheromone is 24 Faubourg gone bad, thoroughly spoiled after too many years sitting on a dressing table in full sun. A pheromone should attract the opposite sex, but in this case, I’m pretty sure men would be repelled by this scent. If any oddball males were inexplicably attracted, the wearer of the perfume would probably have to respond to them with, “not tonight, sweetie. I have a headache”. I only applied a tiny dab from a sample vial, but the sillage was so strong and repulsive that I had to scrub. This knocked the scent down to tolerable proportions, but did not eliminate it. Once the sillage monster has been tamed, a soapy green floral base remains along with a trace of woody musk. It’s not too bad, but if you want to attract men, you’re much better off with a dab of vanilla, bacon grease, or your own lovely secretions. Not for me.

OK here is another one i tried in my zest for the perfect scent.I must admit too that i was intrigued by the fact that it was suppose to get mens attention.Once again I attempted to seduce my husband while sprayed in it.The hype i saw had me ready for a raging man gone wild with desire.when i asked my husband how he liked it,he said its ok.No nothing.NEVER had any one compliment it,male or female.I will tell you one thing though,We went to an outdoor function one night and the knats swarmed me.Later even the night beetles came a crawling.I had to leave so i could get some peace.people even noticed and began to snicker.i looked like I had pepper sprinkled on my face.When i got home my dog followed me for hours with a forlorn look on his poor little face.so,somethings like it on me but,it aint men.wear at your own risk,just go out the door slowly on a warm,southern night.

Oy. We just didn't get along, but then that's how it is with some chemistries. On me, this was a hot kitty in the city fragrance that reeked of bad taste and was like driving a spike up my nose. MM may have searched worldwide for all the priceless oils and whatever that she sank into this loser, but she could have had the same results by combining RAID and Yukon Jack. This perfume smells so similar to 24 Fauberg to my nose. But this could be due to the fact that jasmine notes amplify on my skin. In fact jasmine is the only note I can detect in pheromone. This perfume smells expensive, serious, and mature. Reminds me of a no-nonsense, high powered business women or wealthy house wives who brunch everyday with their lady friends. Its definitely not cup of tea. But if you want something that smells expensive, yet very affordable, try this. It has impossible, insane, staying power and sillage. And thats saying a lot on my skin. The sillage is serious, so apply lightly.

This was the first perfume I ever owned and I was very young when I received it as a gift. As a young girl I thought the scent was how all perfumes should smell; strong, heavy, mature, a bit masculine, woodsy, spicy, etc. I have found that this particular genre of perfumes does not appeal to me at all. Ironically now that I am older I prefer lighter, sweeter, fruitier, or aquatic smells. My favorite fragrance is D&G #3 l'imperatrice. If you’ve wanted this perfume and would like to swap let me know.

Over the years, Pheromone has seemed to change its formulation. Maybe it's my body chemistry? I loved the dry down of this fragrance. It was my signature scent but now, it's intolerable. It's cloying. Frankly, Pheromone for Men smells more like the original Pheromone than Pheromone. I MISS MY PHEROMONE! Those buying Pheromone today will never get the true sense of the fragrance.

I'm VERY mystified by these reviews as I returned this fragrance to QVC several years ago after purchasing and wearing several times. I enjoyed watching Ms Miglin and wanted to try her products. While it was initially a pleasant floral scent, the smell disappeared very quickly-lasting less than an hour- zero sillage- and simply not worth even the modest price I paid for it.

I love vintage and get so sad when someone calls a scent “old lady.” But this is (that in the worst way) it’s just unwearable. It has a closed up old house smell. It’s not really powdery but musty. It was a straight aversion and then a violent scrub and it still permeated my nose. Maybe this scent had a time, but I fear it’s passed.

Today is my first day to ever wear this. I was expecting it to be a huge perfume bomb, but no one has even noticed it! For me, it is more of a skin scent and trust me, I have plenty on. It's nice. Woodsy. Personally, I like perfume that smells a little masculine and I think this does. I just wish it were more noticeable on me.

I smelled this on a lady one day and complimented her on the fragrance and asked what she was wearing. When I went to dept store and I tested this I was like ooeww no way this smelled like I had sprayed raid bug spray. I guess it does not agree with my body chemistry .

Yuck!! My mom wore this tonight the dry down was so awful!! I hate the term old lady, well this is the smell of a old lady!! Yucky!! Thankfully I trashed this one I’m still confused on how I loved this a few months ago and now despise it!! good staying power tho!!

I blind bought this from HSN years ago and was very disappointed. It just didn't smell like anything to me. There was a very vague spice scent for a few minutes. Waste of money

Pheromone simply does not smell good on me. Personal body chemistry is everything.

this is one of the Great Chypres of the 1970s. along with Estée Lauder's Aliage, Estée, Azurée (if from the 1960s), Balmain's Ivoire, Y from Yves Saint Laurent (1964) and Rive Gauche and Chanel's No19 from 1971, Cristalle from 1974 and Dior's Diorama, Diorissimo and Diorelle (all from the 1960s). (we do not forget the famous Madame Rochas, Miss Dior, No5 which fits this bill partly along with Calèche d'Hermès 1951.) the main Characteristics are a lot of Oakmoss, a lot of Green Notes, perhaps Bitter notes, some meodowy Herbs or even Medicinal Aromatic Herbs, Coumarinic Traits, and (for the ladies' versions) a bunch of Flowers. quite a Bunch that is. derived from the idea that this gives an image from the botanical diversity of Cyprus plus the Flowery Forces of Mediterranean Isles (Capri) this is already an older genre. toward the 1980s one notices already the forecast of the infamous (but fabulous) Hooker Perfumes of the 1980s which all went loose... yet with Phéromone of Marilyn Miglin we already have quite a nose full of noble and if considered 'common' then still noble Ingredients. it starts for a long time with Green, Bitter and Aromatic Notes with the Oakmoss (still and luckily not considered allergenic) throwing her Mossy Threads through the perfume fully. it gives an austere and Chique Demeanour. to this the Iris contributes fully and a metallic Touch is definitely to sense. Spices and Aromatic Herbs lend a piquancy which is already beheld in the perfume's name: 'Phéromone', being 'the Hormone of Sexual Attraction'. then, you even had Pheromone-enhanced perfumes with Androstenol, at first sight a masculin pheromone yet present also in women regulating menstruation and also acting as pheromone in general. an 'engineered' Androstenol was suppleted to certain perfumes (Jovan Andron) because it also has the scent of Musk. it is never scientifically proven to be effective. Marilyn Miglin's perfume Phéromone delivers its sexiness in Name and Ingredients. but speaking of it this sidepath had to be clarified. so there is an Initial Firewall of Spices and Herbs (Mint, Rosemary), Green Notes (apparently in other versions also the Bitter Galbanum) and here the Palm leaf, Stemmy and Leafy events in the opening, plus an Oakmoss on Steroids, this perfume leaves no one unmoved. the Flowers Enter with Dancing Moves: Lotus, Ylang, Jasmine, Rose, Iris, Orange Blossom. then the outright Woodiness of the perfume comes forward making it a Strong Perfume with Joiallerie of Iron. Woody Notes, Patchouli, Oakmoss (which was palpable and sneezable all along), Sandelwood. and if any of the notes would be downright Sexy it would be the Wodka, not sparsely used. this has become a legendary perfume, along with her offsprings. later we learned that the husband of Marolyn Miglin, a Beverly Hills Socialite, was murdered by the same psychotic psychopath who killed Gianni Versace, André Cunnanan (I didn't peered but that must be the spelling).
