A Day in My Life

You can’t find many rose dominant fragrances without bumping into kind of old fashioned feeling and usually all they have is a straight forwarded “rosy” smell. But this one despite having a solid combination of rose absolute and rose oil; still manages to go beyond just rose. I believe that rose in particular is a tricky note in perfumery. Since many rosy fragrances typically have nothing to offer other than a linear floral scent from opening to dry down. “A Day in my Life” has been a success in that regard I believe. It has a mysterious depth into it which I love. Very well done Mark Buxton!

It's a perfidiously masculine rose :) Roses and cigarette smoke, and leather. With an aromatic and fresh edge fitting a refreshing cologne. At the same time it is seductive, strong like laubdanum and aromaric in floral way like elemi resin. A stong base reminds me of hot vetiver - must be a mix of patchouli and rose and labdanum and sandalwood. It speaks of freedom, strong mindedness, fit for a urban hippie, revolutionist and a carefree woman will also love a drop. A bottle to share. Rose but completely unfeminine without losing seductive charm. 2 days of longevity

On my skin the perfume opens with minty rose. I haven’t seen mint listed so I smelled again and again. It’s minty rose on my skin. After a while, that green minty odour almost disappears, living behind a fresh green trace. It is now when the smoky resins feel their presence. It is a combination of sweet and green, with some rose. I was looking for lily-of-the-valley because it is one of my favourite note, but I could not smell it. In the base I get a green leathery smell mixed with smoke and a lot of patchouli. At this point it reminded me of Coromandel by Chanel. It is almost the same sweet patchouli. This is the feeling with which the perfume ends: sweet patchouli. Good sillage! The perfume deserves a try if you like green-minty rose finished with patchouli.

If everyone (of the THREE who voted) dislikes this SO much; perhaps at least one of you could leave a few words telling me why...? Mark Buxton is a consummate nose and a prolific perfumer with not only his own (awesome) line of eight scents but a veritable truckload of superb scents under his belt. None of which I have smelled even come close to "dislike" and almost all are LOVES or very strong LIKES. Comme de Garcons (original), CdG 2, Man 2, CdG 3, Silver Words, Wonderwood, LINARI Notte Bianca, Veyyver 46, Jil Sander Scent 79 (vintage AND new)...you get the picture? And those are only the tip of the iceberg! If you are gonna "hate", at least say WHY!!! Thanks, smell swell & be well (and put away the Hatorade), GP

I love this. It is beautiful and not so usual. Can be worn anytime of the year too !
