Intrigue

For anyone wanting a similar dupe of this fragrance- Diamond Diana by Diana Ross is a very good one. Is it an exact copy of Intrigue? No. But they have similar vibes to each other. Just throwing that out there.

Yes, a definite oriental in the line of Tabu and Cinnabar. There is cinnamon in this, carnation, amber, musk, benzoin, oakmoss, sandalwood. Lovely!

This reminds me of Obsession and Tabu combined. It is strong long lasting and IMO, a choice for evening wear. I wish more notes were identified.

I have an (obviously) vintage version of this discontinued scent and the bottle I bought is rectangular with gold hardware and a square tortoiseshell cap. I think this is an earlier/way earlier vintage, just based on the scent of the juice - so I wonder how a slightly newer version would smell. This is sort of 2 dimensional to me, I expected it to be multifaceted and more spicy and ambery than the juice I got, so read my review/comment with a grain of salt, this could be a genuinely rich and sultry scent and I may have just gotten a bottle that didnt age well/wasn’t stored well. It’s not bad though! I do feel it smells very similar to a few other scents in the same sort of profile - I have vintages of Albert Nipon, Raffinée, and Epris (the splash/dab-on in the super small bottle) and I feel these are like sister or cousin perfumes, with Intrigue being the less multi-faceted of the bunch. Again, it could just be my bottle and I am actually willing to purchase a fresher version just to see if the scent is more intricate than this. All in all not bad, definitely vintage-smelling, sweet, musky, and I would never guess coconut and/or amber as, again, this version seems sort of flat :) I trust Dolly Parton and her beautiful nose - after all, her recent fragrances are, in my opinion, really lovely and for mass-market scents, I think they’re beautifully done - so I trust that theres something to this scent that really drew her in, initially. Update: I changed my mind entirely lolol. Intrigue lives up to its name: it becomes more multi-dimensional as it dries down. I’m reminded of a tiger swiping it’s paw in the air - the first blast, the initial notes - and just as fast, she retreats and plays flirtatiously like a kitten, batting at you as she lies on her side, purring and inviting you to engage. Coconut, a powdery ambery tropical fruity coconut ambery velvety veil on the skin, the fruits rising and falling, almost like an ambrosia of a feline cocktail of a perfume. This actually transcends “vintage” into something more classic, ladylike, refined, powdery, sweet. I keep thinking about how this must smell on Dolly Parton and I imagine she has the body chemistry to really bring out the more latent notes that hide shyly behind the large-pawed playful initial swipes. Yummy, surprising, but yet not surprising all at once. I thought I’d be content with my 10% full vintage bottle that I got at a deep discount, I do think I want to order a fuller bottle to keep enjoying this. I read, as I’m sure you all did, who were brought here by Dolly, that she bought up every bottle on EBay some time ago, like a G, which I would so do with a few of my faves if I had the resources.

This fragrance is the definition of Oriental. Even though the notes aren't listed I would say that there is amber, cinnamon, patchouli, and a bit of musk in this. Now I do not know for a fact if there are any of those scents in there, I am just saying thats what I get from this. I wish they were still making this. Of course when I bought my bottle it had been discontinued. Thank goodness for eBay am I right? Anyway on to how it wears, Sillage: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Uniqueness: 10/10
