Aqua Mat Homme

Aqua Mat is one of those fragrances where application method determines what I get from it; what I and others smell and for what length of time. Spray heavy or concentrated on 1 or 2 areas (especially on skin) and I get Citruses, Flowers, Bamboo and Musk, or basically a variation of L'eau Par Kenzo Homme (which is an "Ok" fragrance but really nothing special) for maybe a couple hours. Spray lightly over several areas from a distance of around 18" and I get Fig Leaf and Wood, mainly a hefty dose of Sandalwood, and the smell lasts hours longer for both me and those nearby. This is the smell I prefer to achieve thus the method I use, and when I do so this is a very complemented fragrance. It's a "Love". Applying diffusely to my hair and clothing greatly improves longevity too. Aqua Mat is a poor performer on skin. The manufacturer never mentioned Pomelo nor Redwood but instead has Grapefruit and Cane in their version of the notes (whatever the ____ "Cane" is and is supposed to smell like?). This has been a warm weather staple of mine for many years, and though likely discontinued it's still easily found to experience (or in my case, to backup). I can't imagine Spring through early Fall without it.

Aqua Mat is a very fresh and vivid citrus-green summer scent with nice opening. I find it a little powdery which is OK. After some time I get a sweet note (I guess from the musk), a mix of sea, something fresh, something green like cucumber, watermelon and weak lemon (notes that are not lised above but.. I get them among with some of the reporded here). The longevity is about 5 hours and the sillage is moderate. The most distinguished notes are lime, pomelo, bamboo but I do not get any sandalwood. It reminds me the l'eau par kenzo a little. I highly recommend it for summer !

Aqua Mat Homme feels like an underrated hidden gem in the world of summer fragrances. If you are a women, fan of D&G Light Blue, but nowadays wonder if that one hasn't got a little too girly for you, I recommend you to try this one! Definitively a unisex-frag!

Great toilet water for the summer. The explosion of citruses combined with oriental, woody notes. An insane mixture of freshness and energy with perfect lasting.

Bought this on a whim without much research, just saw it was a fresh aqua fragrance like kenzo does (which I used to love). I haven't been able to try this out yet but I must say I'm looking forward to wearing it in the summer. It really is a morning to early afternoon summer fragrance, It is very fresh! Fresh citrus and green feeling with a seaside feeling to it. It doesn't project far or project for a long time, but it remains as a skin scent for 4-5 hours ish+ on my skin. I feel this is an easy fragrance to throw on when the sun is shining, no clouds in the sky and you don't have anything serious to do. It is a kind scent that you'll need to spray maybe 6-10 sprays on and it'll be a nice body scent especially in intimate settings or just small groups. It certainly isn't a show off scent and I don't see it getting many compliments, but it's very pleasant and again an easy scent to wear in high heat. I wouldn't buy another bottle, but I can see me using this sparingly over the next 2-4 years in the late spring and summer day time, then switch to something for the evening. If I'm out all day, I wouldn't go for this, as it certainly isn't an evening/night scent. Overall a great fresh scent but nothing incredible - But for an easy summer daytime skin scent with no intention of projecting far and getting compliments, this is a nice little find.

A gift from my wife, so I have to like it :D Well, it does smell very fresh. Good choice for warm climate like Indonesia. But the longevity is poor. I spray this thing a lot in the morning, and by 11 AM you just can't smell anything. Could have been a great daily fragrance if the fragrance can last for more than 3 hours.

One of my favorite clean morning spring/summer scents. Just impossible to buy now :( Smells like fresh bamboo cut by a clean ocean with no clouds in sight. I just feel fresh and ready to attack the day with nothing but positivity when I wore this before. Just wish they still made or sold this in the UK.

It's herbal, fresh. A good one, but, no my favorite. Lasting power: 3-4 hours- Sillage: in the first 30 minutes, is enormous. Almost every perfume works in that way in my skin: enormous sillage in the first 30 min, after, nothing can be smelled.

the sophistication of japanese horror movies has been included in this excellent perfume

oriental woody? i don ́t think so. It's more citrus and fresh, with green notes.

A perfect threesome. This would be a gorgeous son of L'eau Dissey Sport, L'eau par Kenzo and the beloved, discontinued Ferragamo pour homme. On first application, this juice its quite powerful, heady on lime, grapefruit, with a brilliant, effervescent undertone. It could be a great sporty scent, but (there's always a but) it also develops deeper if you know what I mean, thanks to some herbs and a lovely fig leaf note. Therefore it also suits itself for causal occasions and wears itself really well with lots of compliments. My main but is that, after 15-30 min of application, the gorgeous fig leaf note shows up but unfortunately, this is the time when the scent looses power and become quiet and wispery. Noticiable? BARELY. I have to stick my nose on my skin to be able to smell it. I've just wished it had more presence. Saying that, it goes close to skin for ages and ages. The very next day, as soon the warm water of my morning shower touched my skin, the scent came back to life again and I could smell it on me. It is a very easy going scent for those who like me, love sometimes, uncomplicated perfumes for the sake of it. Citrus citrus and fig leaf. There's nothing "aquatic" about it. I wouldn't buy it again, just because the projection is poor. I am the kind of person who likes to smell what I wear.

A watery-floral summer fragrance which sits close to the skin and maybe not safe as a blind buy... I applied 6 heavy sprays 0 - 15 mins - 8 inch projection. This is not your normal citrus summer scent;it is dominated by florals and bamboo which overshadow the citrus. I don't recommend this if you are looking for citrus. On paper this smells much better and you get lime then. 15 mins - 2 hours - 4 inch projection. Linear 2 hours - 5 hours - Close to skin. I don't get any sandlewood or musk. I was torn between returning this or keeping it, and I decided the latter and I have enjoyed wearing this in the summer heat. It is good for when you have meetings and don't want it broadcasted around the office. I don't think this is a safe buy and may get booring quickly after an initial intrigue- the intrigue being that this scent smells unusual - it is a scent from Asia and so not the norm, but some may consider toilet air freshner...IMHO don't blind buy Not bad

Most important note is missing from the pyramide - cane, or reed. In many Japanese fragrances reed is a dominating note somehow. Supporting notes, like citruses or bamboo are always build around reed or mahagony or rosewood in Matsushima fragrances. From name "Aqua Mat" I was expecting something watery and aquarellish. Well, it works opposite way on my skin and those ppl I have tried this fragrance on. It is quite spicy, - fig leaf and rosewood are really strong, which gives density to the juice. Of course bamboo is present, so is lime, so it is also tangy, if to direct ppl towards similarities by appearance I would say simplified and easier to pull off Ninfeo Mio of AG.

Very cool and fresh, with a hint of woods. Then all freshness.,it is quite light, yet it is nicely constructed. It is young, but still elegant..I admit my 9 year old son wears it!! I mean. I want him to, but he finds it too woodsy!!! For the price, it is a nice option for guys who like fresh scents.

At start it was pomelo and grapefruit -sweet ,juicy ,warm .I was wondering why it have to bee warm -it kinda fragrance that you expect be refreshing. Very nice balanced.good longevity.it stayed on my wrist good 4-5 hours Dry down -pleasant clean smell of barbershop.

I bought this because of a cheap price, i cant say i am very impressed but at least its not all bad either, it does however remind me of Schweppes grapefruit soda, it smells that way, a decent summer fragrance for the price at least.

Just got this today... Nice... i like it :D opening is fresh and the dry down is pleasant , a little "watery" feeling so it is not offensive. Im not an expert, i only know to say if it is nice or not :D

reminds summertime fresh with strong citrus note unfurtunately after a few hours converts into a very subtle scent
