Aventinus

As a fragrance collector, I am always searching for something that is not overly mainstream. During a visit to Rome, I discovered Mauro Lorenzi, a local perfumer with a single boutique located not far from where I was staying. I visited the boutique one afternoon and was genuinely impressed by the level of service: kind, knowledgeable, patient, and highly professional. I had the opportunity to try virtually the entire collection (24 fragrances), and it is rare to encounter a house of this level where, despite the diversity of compositions, almost every fragrance is remarkably appealing. The quality is evident: excellent concentration, strong performance in both longevity and projection, and elegant 50ml bottles. In the end, I left with two fragrances instead of one, and I am already looking forward to expanding my collection further. This feels like true niche perfumery, in a market where “niche” is increasingly becoming commercial. Aventinus itself is a fresh fragrance, yet it carries a depth that is often missing in this category. It is not easy to describe precisely. Mint is clearly noticeable in the opening, supported by citrus notes, while a floral-woody base gradually emerges, adding structure and allowing the fragrance to evolve in a refined and interesting way over time.

I've discovered this brand into Esxence exhibition in Milan. I have to say that they have realised a really nice collection. It is a sort of Resin's Collection because, of course thanks to the ancient Rome inspiration which the entire line is admittedly dedicated, you can find, incenses, lentisque, benzoin, myrr, olibanum, amber, styrax, Perú balsam. etc.. in basically all the creations. Aventinus is a agrumed, green, spicy and airy incensed perfume. This is a sort of Mandarine Basilic (the Guerlain's Milestone) illumined by lentisque and "clean winds", a corolla of refined senteurs. I could swear to detect a lot of natural essential oil in this composition. Very pleasant, refreshing and "spiritual", elevating scent. I hope Fragrantica will add soon the new 2022 line of Mauro Lorenzi collection.
