Just Call Me Maxi

For those who find the midline, mid-70s female-marketed frags to often give "Hooray Henrietta" in their delivery, there are some real gems in the rough. Just Call me Maxi is one such treat, built around what my nose perceives as primarily a trinity of galbanum, ylang-ylang, and myrrh. It's a whole lot of deliciously bitter wrapped around a soft, sweet center, like a piece of Freshen-Up gum, bursting in the middle all dark and rich, oozing and thick. It's a heavy hitter, and just a few scant sprays goes a long way.

You say it is for woman well many men are using it heavily i use it my self and it is great fragrance and i have to say that it is colon but it is more stronger than many EDT or EDP in the market place really i love it use it and afraid that bottle finish soon surly i will buy it again

It is a warm fragrance coming from the seventies of the last century .. reminds me of the old sexy fashion!.. love grows with me day after day .. in the opening fresh .. but in the dry down it becomes more beautiful and worm little bit.. Suitable for both sexes .. It is preferable to wear it in mild or cold weather.

Category: Musty, balsamic, bitter Notes: I had a hard time distinguishing between any top, middle or base notes. Since the bottle I got is from the 70’s it’s likely experienced some changes due to age. That being said I am definitely picking up on the bitter oakmoss; it dominates the fragrance and brings out that musty woodsy type smell. In the background is a warm and balsamic amber, slightly powdery. Together they smell quintessentially 1977. Vibe: Autumn. Chestnuts. The color brown. Yellow label tea. Leather armchairs. Armpit hair. Hair salon. The town in Edward Scissorhands. Amber. Brown boots. 70’s boudoir photos. Cocaine. Fur-coats. Red lipstick. Fetishist. Sillage: 5/10. Not too loud, although definitely bold. This isn’t a skin scent, but you also wouldn’t be stinking up an elevator. I’d say used sparingly this has the perfect sillage. Longevity: 10/10. I only really dabbed a tiny bit on my wrist and it lasted me a good 24 hours and then some! Incredible longevity on this one, WOW! Wear: Day or night - for a vintage fragrance it’s surprisingly inoffensive, that is however not to say it is mild - it is definitely a bolder fragrance. I would avoid this like the plague during spring and summer, I can see this turning horribly bitter in the heat. It is however very cozy and deep; perfect for fall and winter. Overall rating: 5.5/10. Your typical late 70’s-early 80’s fragrance. Very warm and cozy, but ultimately a little outdated. If I had to describe this scent with one word it would be musty... or maybe brown? Musty brown. Who would wear it?: Jackie Brown, Stevie Nicks, Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface.

Wow! Bam! In your face, but I love it. Pursuing an antique mall I found myself in a booth and I’m always on the hunt for vintage perfume. On the shelf was a small (1oz maybe) bottle of Just Maxi which without opening Frangantica mistook for Maxim’s. Picked it up, smelled the spray head (bare hint of scent) then oh so carefully intended to disperse a tiny drop on my wrist before purchasing (it was $2 so easy buy.) OMG that one drop filled the room. It has a very vintage Tabu flavor. It lasted for hours. And even though I love loud scents worried I might be offensive in the small spaces. It wasn’t an all day type of longevity but it is a powerhouse. If you are looking for a statement fragrance and like it loud then by all means Maxi is your scent. It’s old vintage labdanum, sandalwood and aldehydes. Imagine my despair when the counter ladies ommitted it from my checkout box and the old gal didn’t make it home with me! Such is life as I lay the back of my hand to my forehead (like in old movies) to match the drama of Just Maxi. Til we meet again.
