Patchouli

Mazzolari Patchouli is simply a smooth & warm honey-and amber centred patchouli fragrance. Maybe it doesn't have that "WOW" effect of Coromandel or Intrigant Pachouli at the very first sniff, but it is definitely one of the best patchouli fragrances I have tried so far (and believe me, I have tried many!). It has an elegance to its own and is slightly sweet, but not sugary sweet. It is more like natural dark honey sweetness, sultry and warm due to the amber, very refined though. And it has that typical elegant vintage feeling like the rest of the Mazzolari line. I am very impressed by this house so far.

I've been on a quest lately to find the perfect patchouli, and I'm not entirely sure it can get better than Mazzolari. This is a darker patch, but it's not overly musty or damp. It's beautifully blended with honey, so as it dries down it smells like 60/40 patchouli/honey. I keep imagining a French model wearing a sassy, short skirt and a stylish black leather jacket. She's doing a black-and-white photo shoot at night, in front of a chateau with sprawling gardens and massive wrought-iron gates. This perfume is proper, yet it's edgy and dark at the same time. Simple and stunning.

This is a beautifully resinous patchouli. After the initial boozy opening, the golden honey seeps through, like seductive drops of heaven. It’s a balsamic, chewy, salted caramel, amber patchouli that’s not too sweet as it’s so wearable due to its smoothness. I cannot stop sniffing it. This is why bears risk getting stung in their quest for luxurious honey experiences. This is my favourite amber scent, but is it my favourite patchouli? It’s certainly a strong contender. It’s lovely!

One of my favorite patchoulis! It is by no means linear. I smell spices, amber, patchouli and even labdanum, although it isn't listed. It projects very well and lasts for hours! One of the best patchouli fragrances I've ever smelled. Sweet but not gourmand and I even wear it in the summer. Beautiful and nuanced.

A gourmand chocolate patchouli. You just gotta wait out the sharp spicy opening and it reveals a delicious powdery sweetness

Rather stylish, feminine, patchouli. There are few patchouli-named scents that I would purchase, but this one is lovely.

This is what patchouli is supposed to smell like. Quintessential.

For me, this started out like walking into a cold basement on a hot day: refreshing mustiness in retreat from sticky heat. Very satisfying in that damp dirtiness. It dried down and warmed up to something much the opposite: sweet, honeyed, ambery, like a cozy cabin. I could imagine really enjoying this journey in the summer.

Been trying a lot of patchouli fragrances lately, so in that context this one is just fine. Nothing special. Nothing wrong with it but it doesn't do anything to stand out. If this had been the first patchouli I'd tested, I would have been more into it.

This smells exactly like Montale Patchouli Leaves and Prada Amber. Not sure why they mix Amber so heavily with patchouli fragrances, but it bothers me because I am not really a fan of amber, and that is all I can smell is amber, very little patchouli.

Mazzolari Patchouli is to dirty for me. There is no light or freshness to this perfume. It just smells like a very pungent patchouli w/ dark spices and some beeswax. This perfume would benefit from some citrus, herbal notes to bring in some light to a very dark scent. It is also very dry, you would think w/ the honey there would be some sweetness but it is dry as dust. It is giving me a scratchy throat while smelling it. Very dry, to earthy but there is no moisture in this earth, it smells like desert sand. A hard no for me.

Compared this to others the opening is chemical and synthetic, improves with dry down but not in the same class other patchouli perfumes. It's nice and not far off, but not quite there. scent 8/10 longevity 7.5/10 sillage 6.5/10

This fragrance is usually discussed in the same breath as the likes of F.S.S.A. Patchouly Indonesiano, and so my mind immediately goes to Zorba the Greek and poor Boubolina's Italian admiral with his patchouli-scented beard. The romantic and historical backdrop of the Mediterranean prepares one for a prickly, challenging affair redolent of crotches and camphor. This is not the case with Mazzolari Patchouli. Taken together in the incarnations of Lui and Patchouli, the signature of Mazzolari seems to be a comical, almost weaponized, richness. Both fragrances, to my nose, have an insidious vanilla/amber note that feels like the house chemists somehow synthesized heavy cream to an ether viscosity. Both are lovely in their own right, but the super-cloying drydown would make someone looking for a slightly exotic, austere, dry masculine look elsewhere. 6 out of 10

A scent that only Earthworm Jim could love. Nah, just kidding. You can definitely add this one to the "why would anyone want to smell like this list". Thick, dense, and heavy are immediate words that come to mind when describing this balmy perfume. I like to sniff things without looking at the notes and i must say that the notes are as described. The Indonesian patchouli in this fragrance is super duper earthy(hence why i mentioned Earthworm Jim). Im going into the 12th hour and this stuff shows no signs of leaving my skin. With that being said...that doesn't mean that it's projecting for 12 hours. This stuff develops into a skin scent around the 5th hour. For the sake of the longevity alone, this could be a buy for someone else...not my style.

Mazzolari's Patchouli has this old-fashioned, warm aura immediately upon application and that is comforting on this (yet another) grey, rainy day. To me it's full of Amber-y balsamic stickiness with a hint of aged whiskey, slightly sweet (and the sweetness is somehow organic). It's a comforting, a little "old-world" type of fragrance (in a very good sense). Serchina says: "elegant vintage" and that is fantastically fitting description. Smooth, slightly dark-ish, but also somehow "thin" nectar, seamlessly blending with my skin. Very velvety I would say. :-) For me personally it's a light, vanilla-ish patchouli/amber/balsamic combo. Lovely.

This is probably the best patchouli I've ever tried so far. It's not the earthy/dirty kind, it's more on the sweet side, but not too sweet. patchouli, amber, and honey is all I get. It's a beautiful, dark, sultry scent. I'm not even a huge fan of amber, but this is defintely staying on my want list until I can afford it. This is blended so well, I'm gonna have to sample the rest of the Mazzolari line. long lasting, but light sillage.

Smooth, ambery honey-y patch. Reminds me of Reminiscence for woman. But I prefer more masculine scents like Lorenzo Villoresi, Etro or Givenchy Gentleman. Still have to try Santa Maria Novella. P.S: new wear after 9 months: great fragrance that is similar to Montale patchouli leaves in the opening and to Prada Amber for Women in the dry down.

This should be renamed "Patchouli For Wimps". Yes the overall quality of the perfume is good, but there is so much amber it sucks all the earthiness and life out of the patchouli. It's like patchouli for people who hate patchouli. Mazzolari Lui smells more like a patchouli fragrance than this, and is far more daring.

I like it but it's a tad too sweet. Wish it was just a bit lighter and fresher. Still very good. Edit: Now I regret selling my bottle. I think I was going through a phase of liking fresher and lighter scents but I'm now trending the other way. Let that be a reminder to me that my tastes are constantly changing!

I loved this but my wife said it smelled too much like Youth Dew or some kind of old woman scent for me to wear it. Once she said that, I guess I could smell the powdery and spiciness of Youth Dew but, at first, I just thought it was a POTENT and sweet patchouli.

I get all the patchouli but it goes on with a strong dose of camphor and a very soil-like note. Just put it on. Lovely scent but I am not sure it stands out from any other patch scent.

Dirty , unique , elegant i can smell ambergris all over...its like ambre precieux plus the patchouli note. Masterpiece....thank you Mazzolari
