MCM Blue Paradise

03. november 2012 Have it in my collection and still very undecided about this one. I wonder why they called it "blue paradise" after all? Shouldn ́t it be then fruity aquatic? Well, i don ́t know. So this one is fruity chypre indeed. Very intesne peach syrupy note, thanks to cyclamen and heliotrope. But at the same time it has that chypre undertone. It might be an older shy sister to YSL ́s "Champagne/Yvresse" but not that good quality. I think the version i have is the modern one and for EDP concentration it has no good sillage or lasting power. You have to spray it liberally to smell it, otherwise it will sit close to your skin. The opening is very fruity and enjoyable thanks to the combination of fruity notes and vetyver, then the middle stage is all about cyclamen and black currant with orris, then dries down to plain fruity-black currant- LOTV stage with cyclamen still dominating. I guess the "blue" accord is the lilly of the valley note, which gives this fragrance a bit fresher note, but not actually an aquatic one. I don ́t know how to rate it still. Yes, it is not bad at all, very nice and pleasant, but not outstanding and not memorable at all and too much on the synthetic side. Easily can be worn as an everyday fragrance during daytime on chilly autumn day, but won ́t make a statemnt on a cold winter day. Also nice as a summer night scent since this fragrance is mostly all about the cyclamen, this notes dominates all the others all the way. I will leave it unrated yet. Must try it more times to understand it and make up my mind. P.S. I now know that "Twice" by Iceberg is quite similar to this one, but MCM is waaaaaay much better. It lacks that awful synthetic aquatic note, which is very strong in "Twice". But both are perfumes with very dominant cyclamen and lilly-of-the-valley notes.
