MCM Onyx

I just got MCM Onyx and this is my first review on Fragrantica. I blind buy MCM Onyx and yes this is generic blue fragrance very similar to Sauvage EDP or it's more between Sauvage and Prada Carbon. Clean ,fresh and spicy and metallic. Very well blanded and rounded notes. You can wear this fragrance all year round in any situation. I waiting for heaters and negative comments on Fragrantica but this fragrance is great!

This is a spicier sauvage edp plain and simple. I would get this over Luna Rossa carbon and I would get this over sauvage edt Though I feel like this is on equal footing with sauvage edp. This is a perfect everyday signature fragrance because it has the "spicy bodywash dna" that makes you smell out of the shower clean 8 out of 10.

liked it more then my first batch dior sauvage EDP lasted equally long on my skin can reccomend

Looks really nice, and even the notes sound amazing. I think I need to try this now.

Recent experience has convinced me that the first male-targeted product in the newest MCM line is better than the sum of its almost universally available parts. Onxy continues a characteristic I noted in my review of the first of the "backpack" scents from MCM: brilliantly packaged, mildly interesting tweaks of a synthetic and somewhat ordinary nature made to typical mass-market designer fragrance profiles that somehow seem to resonate with folks smelling them off skin. Onyx is not even remotely ground-breaking or innovative. The presentation is great if, like me, you happen to be a fan of the brand. The scent takes familiar designer fresh, lightly woody elements and tweaks them by substituting a different mix of aromachemicals for the ones found in the market's titans. Surprisingly, the result is better than the foregoing description would lead you to expect. I wore this fragrance yesterday on a flight (I try to wear innocuous scents on airplanes) and found myself leaning heavily on regular sniffs of my wrist to fend off the odor of whomever in my area of the plane had tried to mask the smell of what I can only guess was the poultry processing plant (or perhaps goat farm) from which they had come directly to the flight after a long, hard shift, by liberally applying some revolting scent. The overall impact, as you might guess, was eye-watering. In these circumstances, amazingly, I received compliments from two fellow passengers on my fragrance AND discovered that the Clearwood (and perhaps just a hint of neutered vetiver) component of Onyx really hangs in there for quite a long time after application of this fragrance. I neither seek nor regularly receive compliments on my fragrances, yet this is not the first time I have gotten compliments on the way an MCM fragrance smells and projects from my skin. This fact, plus my affection for the way the bottle design looks on my shelf, has made me something of a fan of MCM Onyx. Will I wear this fragrance regularly? Absolutely not. Is it most likely redundant if you own one of the many popular, youth-targeted fragrances that seem to be everywhere these days? Yep. But, if you enjoy those sorts of scents and want something to use for a change of pace, or are looking for a new (woody, blue-ish) fragrance that is perhaps a little different from the pack and inoffensive in every way, you can do worse than MCM Onyx (Plus, at the risk of restating this fact yet again, the presentation really is pretty cool.) For me, then, MCM Onxy is a "like", but not a "love." Mildly recommended.

Tested this one skin at a retail store. Notes hit a little backwards on my skin. Opens spicy aromatic and in the mid it turns really citrus dominant with ginger. For a few minutes it reminded me of afternoon swim. Final drydown is powder soap like another reviewer mentioned. I appreciate that the tonka is not too heavy here. Fresh scent overall and is in the ballpark of Sauvage. Clean with decent performance, but nothing groundbreaking. Interesting bottle, I thought it was a purse initially but I guess it's a backpack. Scent 6/10 Performance 7/10

An easy to wear fragrance. I get the citrus opening, but it quickly becomes a lavender fragrance. Overall smells like a good fresh and clean laundry. longevity is around 5-6 hours on my skin with moderate projection. Easy fragrance to daily. Not my favorite scent profile to where I don't think I would get another bottle, but nothing wrong with what this is doing.

I really like this it smells like a slightly more masculine version of Salvatore Ferragamo's Arte Orafa. This is on skin and on paper literally about a 90%. It's just they put a little more Tonka and the MCM to make it more masculine

I wanted to buy this just for the gimmicky bottle but it smells just like a hundred other fragrances. To me it smells like Mercedes Benz man blue or maybe Luna rossa carbon

Smells like Sauvage just with less ambroxan. A good pickup if you like that DNA but want something a little less overwhelming to the nose

This smells like a spicier opening to Extreme Story by LA Rive except it retains the smell of the opening all the way through.

It smells like Bleu de Chanel and Sauvage mixed for the right price and nice bottle, got a gift box from Marshall’s for $60

I got a sample of this from a local retailer and could not find anything on it for ages. This apparently released earlier this year which explains much. This review is based only on my experience with the 2mL sample which lasted me about three days worth of applications. For me, this is almost identical to Dior Sauvage EDP except spicier. The opening has the same spicy freshness. It then quickly fades into smelling dry and like powdered soap. The performance is a tad weaker than Sauvage but still a beast. Sauvage was powerful at two sprays, this one took about three to four to get the same power. If you like Sauvage EDP you'll like this. I, sadly, am not a fan of either. I can see this being someone's "any place any time" fragrance, but not mine.

I bought this at TJ Maxx on clearance for $32. It was an open box return and I'm going to return it too. Before I bought it I checked this page and saw that people compared it to Dior Sauvage and Prada LR Carbon, so I was very excited because I like those two colognes, but MCM Onyx DOES NOT smell like Sauvage or LR Carbon! I was at the Ulta store before I bought MCM and I sprayed Sauvage EDT on one hand and the EDP on the other, so I compared all 3 fragrances right away and the MCM does not smell like either. It's just a generic weak blue scent with below average projection on my skin. Nothing special at all. The best part about it is the unique bottle design, but the problem is they made the bottle completely black so you have no idea how much juice is left inside if you decide you want to sell it later. Not recommended.

Cool bottle. A flamboyant version of Sauvage. More herbal and zingy on initial application but dries down to something very similar to Sauvage EDT. Id get it if I liked Sauvage and wanted to rey something different. This, Luna Rossa Carbon and Sauvage EDT are very reminiscent of one another.

Fresh fragrance in the vein of Sauvage. This one is fresh and bitter with aromatic touches. Sage is pronounced here and it makes this fragrance closer to Cool Water Parfum in fact.

Why this brand no longer produces men's perfumes? I miss that and I hope to see that soon.

This is similar to sauvage with a lil bit more lavender! Yap. Nothing special! Good frag!

Not bad smells like a sweeter sauvage cool bottle I like it last ok people also enjoy it
