Tobacco Frankincense & Cardamom

I just got a set of samples in March 2021. The notes listed on my samples are different from the notes on Fragrantica and from the notes listed on Meleg.org. As for this one, the notes are different from Fragrantica, Meleg.org and from the notes listed in the comment below. They are: Top: Guatemalan cardamom; Peruvian pink pepper; Omani frankinsence. Middle: Canadian cedar wood; Moroccan rose absolute. Base: Indian sandalwood, Virginian tobacco. To me my sample is a smokey, peppery cardamom with some light florals and sweetness (rose, jasmine, tobacco, amber???) plus light cedar/woody. And tobacco in the drydown. It is a nice perfume for men. The problem I have now with all the perfumes from Meleg is that it is not clear what you are buying should you buy a full bottle. The notes are all over the place and it looks like all the perfumes have been reformulated as the notes on the most recent samples are very different from the notes listed on Meleg.org and Fragrantica. In some cases, the change is very dramatic making a currently sold perfume completely different from what it was just a few months ago. In addition, the size of the bottles almost doubled (from 30ml to 50ml), but the price only rose by CAD20-30 bucks, to CAD210 from the previous CAD180-190. So, something has definitely changed. I guess one should contact Meleg.org to confirm what exactly is being sold before buying a full bottle of anything.

Ok, so this was a total surprise. I’d left it last out of the Meleg sample set because frankincense tends to be too astringent and medicinal to my nose and cardamom can also be like that, in a different way. Honestly, though, I didn’t smell any of the titular notes. Instead the fragrance has been a sweet rosewood for the entirety of the four hours I’ve been wearing this. The note pyramid on the sample I have is different than what’s listed here. Not sure if it’s been reformulated or if Fragrantica got it wrong. Though weirdly, no tobacco is listed? Here’s what the sample label says: Top:cardamom, rosewood, pink pepper Mid: cedar wood, frankincense, Jasmin Base: laudanum, oak moss, vanilla I was expecting something strong, medicinal and masculine but this is lovely, light, sweet and feminine. In the beginning I could smell the frankincense if I stuck my nose close to the spot where I sprayed but now I’m getting more of the vanilla and oak moss. I think I’ll have to wear this a few more times to get past my cognitive dissonance.

okay i dont have this one i have TEMPLE OF HORUS which isn't on the site yet. top: juniper and cardamom middle: frankincense, myrrh base: benzoin kyphi! dusty deep and animalic. no sweetness outside of the tang of juniper. Ptolemaic win. lasts forever, and has a gorgeous bottle. if you are a young girl you need this you will not smell like anyone else in your cohort. cleopatra! not nymphishly Hellenic. like laying on animal pelts in a temple, it makes me feel like the pythia.
